Words From Jack Swan I may have a load of egg on my face anytime soon but I still feel like we are kind of toying with a relegation fight. There hasn’t really been a point where I have been terrified of us losing our Premier League status and yet we can’t really hide from the fact that we are one of a few teams who may fall to that fate. There are very few teams who are ‘too good’ to go down and I wouldn’t be brave enough to call us one of them but I’m fairly confident that there are not only three teams worse than us but also that there are three teams below us who if surpass our current points tally, wont by very much. I hope the players have a very different attitude to myself. I wouldn’t like to say I was smug about our chances but I would be incredibly shocked should we go down. It is possible that the players feel kind of similar and that might bite us on the ass but complacency in the stands is disappointing, on the pitch is unforgivable. Garry Monks job depends on the next four games and I see probably two scenarios where he keeps his job, the first, we win all 4, show great spirit, great performances and he earns the right to be called the next permanent manager. I also think that he has a very good chance of getting the job if we are relegated. Bizarre it may sound but I think that we would be more likely to take a punt on him at a lower level. Any last minute survival scrapes would almost certainly put him out on the dole. It has to be perfection or relegation if you want the job Garry.

Cheers Jack Swan

U AK B’ The most recent in our run of Jack B’s has done more for the image of Swansea City Football Club than any other person or group. He has propelled Swansea into being the pride of Wales and the ‘goodies’. Our Next Jack B’ is Agent Tan. I met up with Agent Tan to talk about his role for Swansea Football Club. When did you first start working for Swansea City Football Club? It was a number of years ago, Sam Hamman had taken over Cardiff City football club and was talking about uniting South Wales so that everyone supported Cardiff. It was obvious to the club that the region has massive potential and that there is potentially a club with real European pedigree in the making should there be less competition. It was back then that I met with members of the Swansea City board to take on this undercover role.

was a lot of preparation that went into it in the early years, building up this ‘Vincent Tan’ profile, a ‘Malaysian millionaire’, it involved setting up a lot of fake websites to saturate the net into people thinking that Vincent Tan existed. We actually went to the trouble of releasing a book in Malaysia so that should any Cardiff representative go there, they would see the book in WH Smiths in the airport but they really didn’t do that much checking. I think that they googled ‘Vincent Tan’ and all the sites came up which we had planted there ‘Malaysian billionaire’ etc… So it was very easy really. So was promotion to the Premier League on the plan or was that accidental? The only way to really kill a club is to play for high stakes. If a club owes £20,000 then the fans chip together and raise it with fundraising nights etc.. so it needed to be a sizable sum and the only way that you can really raise that kind of debt is to get into the Premier League and then die away.

How difficult was it to get into Cardiff? It was incredibly easy. We thought that it would be slightly more difficult but they were so desperate to bring anyone into the club that it was really easy. Martin Morgan had set aside £100 million to destroy Cardiff City but in reality, by the end of next year, we would have managed to do it with less than half that sum. There

So yes, promotion was on the plan, as will be this years relegation and next years. It has gone perfectly to be totally honest. The colour change, was destroying the clubs image a major part of the plot? Of course, we hoped to lose a lot of fans then to be honest. We expected a breakaway group when we decided to do that but we underestimated the stupidity and lack of passion that the Cardiff fans had. On paper, we calculated that we would sell 70% less shirts and yet we sold more red Cardiff City shirts than the blue ones the year before. In reality, Cardiff didn’t really have a great reputation both on the field and off the field anyway. It was already regarded as a horribly run club which was something which we were keen on elaborating on and their style of play was regarded as lump it up there and physical which was a bore to watch. They were starting with a very low image and we managed to bring that down even further. To be totally honest, I think we could do what we wanted with the club without much protest from the so called fans. You made a lot of signings in your first year in the Premier League, how did you ensure that relegation

would happen? Players can only do so much, if players are unhappy behind the scenes then they don’t play as well and relegation is inevitable. The atmosphere behind the scenes is appalling and always has been at this club. It is all about money; over paying players wages is always a good way to get them to play poor. You must also remember that a big part of my job is not just destroying Cardiff but also improving the image of Swansea City. Comparisons are always made between any rivals and so every time that we did something at Cardiff, we were conscious that it would reflect on Swansea. For example, we signed Cornelius for Cardiff knowing exactly what would happen with him at the same sort of time that we signed Bony for the Swans. This is no accident, this is all part of the plan to not only make Cardiff look awful but to also show how well run Swansea is. Cornelius was sold at a 6 odd million loss plus add-ons and I imagine that Bony would have doubled his value after the World Cup. Everything that has been done has been thought in great detail by the Swansea board. So why did you sign Caulker? He’s a great player, I know that the Swansea board wanted to sign him up for themselves but Laudrup wasn’t fussed.

There was talk of him going to another club and I got the call from the board to sign him up at any cost. I think the idea is that when Cardiff get relegated, the new Swansea manager will have first option on him, he lives Swansea side of Cardiff and so he wouldn’t really need to move. I think it is basically a case of him sitting in the Cardiff team until Swansea want him. The player hates it here, he is on the phone to Ashley Williams every five minutes. Was it difficult to sack Makay? No, in fairness that decision came straight from Huw Jenkins. He called me up and said that he feared there was a chance that he would keep Cardiff up, I personally thought that would never happen but the boss spoke and I fired him that day. He was a decent manager in fairness but I don’t think Alex Fergusson could keep Cardiff City in the Premier League because the whole club from top to bottom is so badly run and this before I came in.

putting on this accent, its great fun for a Townhill boy and at the end of the day, if I wasn’t doing this then I would be helping out in my parents Chinese takeaway. Agent Tans legacy could be bigger than any other on our Jack B list. The centre ground for South Wales has already moved. Port Talbot used to be very split, with arguably more blue than white but that has changed. Bridgend has become the battle zone. By the end of Agent Tans reign, the mission is to have youngsters in Cowbridge, Barry, Llantrisant wearing Swans shirts and then onto Cardiff itself. Time will tell at how big a role Agent Tan has played in our future but when we sell out our 60,000 seater stadium in a Champions League Semi-Final then a massive part of that will be thanks to this wonderful man.

And appointing Ole? We hadn’t thought of who to replace him with and then the bookies were saying that Ole was favourite and we thought, un-experienced, foreign, big ego, bit of a joke: he’s perfect. So we got him straight away. He’s done a great job in getting them relegated, really quality job.

We aren’t quite sure yet. To be honest there are a lot of nails in there already and I think that even if I left now and a good honest chairman came in, it would be too late to save them. Personally I hope I’m there until the end because I’m really enjoying being the pantomime villain and

W n? We generally have a rule that I interview the top 10 Jack B’s and Matty interviews everyone else. I must admit that I found it very difficult to hand over this phone number, I write a bit after the interview about how good I thought this guy was and so wont get into it again here but I did eventually hand over the details and Matty caught up with Ferrie Bodde to talk all things Swans and to see what he’s up to these days.

Everyone would think that maybe it was my injury but there are worst things in life and the thing that I still think about now and again was when Idrizaj passed away, the young player from Liverpool our team mate, that was my worst moment. For me personally he was a young player, he was a good player and he was a good person so for me personally that was the worst moment for me when one of my team mates passed away.

Are you still involved in the game if so where?

Who is the best player you have ever played with?

Yes over in Holland. I train football players, I keep them fit together with some other people. We keep players fit who are maybe out of contract from their teams. They are young players from the age of 16 to 25 and maybe a few who are 26 or 27 but not older. We keep them fit five days of the week and we try to get a game once a week. We have got 68 players who are unemployed. They come from everywhere from France from Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Holland of course. That’s what I am doing at the moment.

The best player? That is a difficult one because I am a team player and I think when I was there we were all team players. There were a few players who motivated me to play but I think that the best player I have played with was Leon Britton. With his size, how strong he is and how skilful and he’s still playing, still quick and still fit. I think Leon Britton should get the award but Ashley Williams, Nathan Dyer, Gary Monk, Tommy Butler they are all great players which I can all remember.

What was your best moment for the swans?

Best player you’ve played against? I think the guy who played for Nottingham Forest, he was strong, he was fast, aggressive McGugan. Lewis McGugan he was a good player

My best moment for the Swans you should say, was probably the promotion to the premier league but I was not really involved, I did everything I trained with the team and so on but I was not fit. I think probably the best moment for me was the promotion from league1 to the championship and the first Cardiff game: that was amazing.

Any Funny stories from your time at the swans? Of course there were funny stories; I love moments when I think about the laugh we used to have in the UK.

What was your worst moment at the swans?

W n? cne There was one moment when the gaffer Roberto Martinez came in before the game in Snake skin shoes and we could not stop laughing. The gaffer at that moment knew what we were laughing at but at the end we won the game so you don’t have to always be serious. Funny small things but the really strange and crazy stuff I can not tell because that is something for the team. Who was the longest in the shower? The longest in the shower when I was there was Kevin Austin. There was a point when you handed in a transfer request, when there was an offer from Debry you later withdrew that, what was your reasons behind choosing to stay? The story behind that was I was 27 at the time and a footballer has agents around them at the time. The transfer request: I never knew what that was about. The only thing (that happened) was that they asked me ‘do you want to make a step up?’. And of course I want to make a step up. So I thought to myself that my English agent and my Dutch agent where telling me this. On the football pitch I am mean and I am tough but off the football pitch I am the nicest guy in the world I think. At that time I let myself be pushed into corners to say yes. Now what I am doing in Holland is protecting players from agent. The LG Contractors qtr landscape.ai 1 20/01/2014 23:05:31

players now who we work with are free agents, maybe I am telling another story now…. But we help the players who are free agents and we protect them. We let them use a normal lawyer. At that time with me I didn’t know anything about the transfer request I knew nothing about it they said that I could not work another day under Martinez and that was the biggest rubbish I have heard. Roberto Phoned me and said come to the stadium please we will talk about it because I don’t believe it, and I thought what have I done wrong? I only wanted to make a step up and if the club wanted to make good money off me then what is the problem. But in the end I never wanted to leave Swansea I was settled and I was happy there. I only ever had two clubs: Swansea and Den Hagg and they are two similar clubs. The transfer request was a stupid mistake in my life. I think its fair to say you had a fiery side to you, with a few sending offs in your career, do you think that was a part of your game which you couldn’t of changed even if you wanted to like a Roy Keane for example? I think when I played in Holland I played with three of the toughest defenders, I played with Raymond Varnavell anyone come near him he would kick their legs, Marco Jentilla the same story for him, I had three big massive defenders and I was playing in front of them. They called us at the time the Bermuda triangle because nobody could get through. So every season I would pick up maybe 12- 14 yellow cards and maybe 2 red

That game they are giving every year we played relegation football so you had to be everybody tough tackles on the knees on the legs, elbows, on the face. During the moment in the game you tough. think next time you are mine! But not before a game and never with the intention to break someones leg. When I came to Swansea we play attacking football we For me I was watching a program in Holland yesterday played beautiful football. So you didn’t need all those and they showed on Holland sport what has happened stupid things, with Swansea my first red card was a with Dutch players, Dutch tennis players and sports reaction. It was against Doncaster, before that I only had players you know and they showed my goal and I one yellow card and Ryan Stock for Doncaster he was tackling me and we fall down together, he stands up and thought f”cking hell they still remember. I was happy with the goal it was a really beautiful goal. But the one that he steps on my knee, I stand up I saw him looking at me was really special for me was the year before that in and he came over with his head towards my face and I league1. I had a really hard kick on my knee in the 80th give him a small head butt, it was not a big thing but it minute at home, it was against a club near Birmingham was not very hard, it was a small thing, a stupid mistake and I think to myself ‘learn from it’. Then we played Leeds but I cant remember who, I came off and I could not walk I saw a piece of my bone United in December. coming out of my knee I said to Their boys were kicking Roberto ‘Gaffer I have got to everybody and to be come off’, he said ‘Ferrie go honest I want to kick back on the pitch score the somebody back who has winner and I will take you off’. been kicking my team So I have so much adrenalin, I mates but that is a part of come on the pitch in the 80th my game I think, you minute and with my first touch need to use your after coming back on I scored strength I think that’s the winner 1-0 so that was a part of my game. really special goal but Preston was my best goal. W n? cne Gary monk the manager will do? Yes I was really pleased when I heard the news, I got all Goosebumps over my body because I know he can do it, and I think if they let him do his thing, he will trigger the boys. I saw the game last weekend against Norwich, they all played well De Guzman, Britton, Bony and I know the feeling that Gary Monk can give you as a captain and I think he will definitely give you that as a manager. He’s got a great attitude and he used to always give us a good talk in a circle before a match on the pitch. He used to give you that extra spirit; I was really happy and pleased for him. First moment I heard it I had Goosebumps then I was laughing for 30 minutes. I could not wait to see the first game and it was against Cardiff and he won that game, I saw it live on television and I saw his face when he was talking to Ashley Williams and the players he used to play with for a long time. It’s really good to see him like that and I hope Swansea will give him more time. Will you be on the phone to him asking for a job? Ha Ha no, I never do that I only give him a whats-ap messenger, I said gaffer congratulations but he never answered so I think he’s busy.

When you first moved to Swansea what was your thoughts on the club and the area? Really beautiful because I came here from the station and they said Ferrie we are going to show you Swansea City. They showed me the most beautiful parts of Swansea they showed me the marina of course they showed me mumbles they showed me the stadium. Of course you need a good environment around you and I think Swansea is one of the most beautiful cities in the UK. I also tell my friends back home here in Holland if I get a chance to come back to Swansea and to the UK then I will live there. My two children are getting older maybe we could come back more regular or to live there because I would like to live there. I am doing my coaching badges in Holland maybe one day I will become a coach in the UK. But Swansea, seriously, I am not just saying because I have you on the phone, Swansea is the most beautiful place I have seen in the UK. Who did you watch growing up that made you think I want to be a professional footballer? You mentioned a few minutes ago Roy Keane, and everybody think Roy Keane? But I like watching Gary Lineker when I was younger. Alan Shearer, There was players hear in Holland when I was a small kid I was watching Rudd Gullit and Marco Van Bastan but when I get older I try to copy my playing style with a player a bit like Roy Keane only I have a better shot! I really like his style because he dominates in a game.

Swansea is a special club. There are people there who understand the club like Huw Jenkins and Martin Not as much as I would like, I have got children, I am busy Morgan. Those people know what they are doing. I think not that Laudrupp was a bad coach but I think not for this with them. One of them is 9 years old now, he plays four moment, last year he had a really good season but I think times a week with the club out here, the other is in to athletics, with sprinting and stuff. So it is really busy with it was a good moment to let him go because I don’t think that, I have also started my own business with a few other he saw a future in the club and Swansea is a long term people here which is something to do with football. But I club because they have players signing for 3 years and for 4 years. I think you need to have time to settle these hope to come home soon as I have a few people I would love to see who I am really missing so it will be nice to get players in. I think even if they got top of the league they would still be normal. Some clubs go up, up, up and they over and see them. think they are like Manchester United and they act like Manchester United but I know for 100% sure that the Do you get a chance to watch the Swans much in board will not walk outside of their shoes. Holland? What have you made of them so far this year? Anything you don’t miss playing for the swans? You can not always perform the same way, I think No I miss a lot, I miss playing, I miss Costa coffee, la Parilla, I definitely miss the training ground and the atmosphere about the place. Of course there were negatives but the positives far out weigh the negatives; maybe I should say the traffic lights but everybody says the traffic lights. But I don’t care about the traffic lights if you have to wait then you have to wait, if you get a red card then you get a red card, you can talk to the referee for two weeks but its still a red card. Nothing really, only the bad weather sometimes. Do you get a chance to come back to Swansea much?

Do you still stay in touch with anyone from your time at the swans if so who? Yes, Tommy Butler, I speak to him quite a lot, we do a lot of the same stuff he is an agent I am not an agent but he’s an agent at the moment. I am doing something where sometimes I phone

Dorus De Vries I speak to him. Huw Jenkins I spoke to a few weeks ago, Jonathan Wiltshire I speak to him sometimes. If I have nothing to do at home I start calling a few people and that’s nice.

Jack swan put on facebook, how exited we were to interview in our opinion the best player we had seen in a swans shirt. For a player who played 54 times for the Swans the majority of people guessed we were going to interview you, do you personally realize just how much Swansea fans rated you?

You are the best player I have ever seen in a swans shirt, and as a swans fan, it was horrible to watch you have injury set back after setback and eventually have to retire. I know you have put it in to prospective when talking about Idrizaj but How hard was it for you to eventually have to accept that your playing career was over?

Whoo you give me a good feeling, I never had the chance to thank the fans for their support. I enjoyed my time at Swansea and the supporters were really positive, clapping for throw ins and really getting in to it like that. I still would like to thank them for giving me that moment in my life. When you have bad moments you think about those good moments and you feel a lot better.

Thank you very much it is very nice for you to say that, I am pleased that the fans have not forgotten me yet but my career ending I accepted it I think last August or September but at that moment I thought I can accept it today or it goes on and on and I am 40 years old and I am still thinking about it. Of course I wanted to play and could still play now I am only 31 but we tried everything, we had the best surgeon in Holland the best surgeon in the UK Everybody looked in to it but it was too difficult to come back in both of my knees I have big damage.

A massive thanks to Ferrie for putting up with Matty. I did get to speak to the evil genius myself and he was such a lovely bloke, and Matty said likewise. Would be great to see him back over here in some capacity, would surely be a great addition to our coaching staff?

Since Bodde played his last game for the club, we have won promotion to the Premier League, won our first major trophy, secured ourselves in the top flight (hopefully) and have the greatest squad and biggest bank balance that the club has ever seen. These are facts, (apart from the securing of this seasons Premier League football, as yet) yet I genuinely think that we have seriously missed him. How can we miss a player while embarking on our greatest time as a football club can easily be asked but I am adamant that the last few years would have been even greater should our evil genius of been fit and playing at SA1. For me, he is the best player that I have seen in a Swans shirt. Leon Britton has been Mr consistent over the years and is a fabulous player and if asked ‘who is the greatest player that I have seen at the Swans’ then I would have to opt for the little man but only because our Dutch masters time was cut far too short.

Bodde had everything, absolutely everything. He could see pass that nobody else could and he could deliver that ve apass any letter timepackage and time again,or he had a shot as powerful as Wilfried Bony and that nasty streak every club needs. uriered by bicycle , that across He could be described a s a deep lying play maker of whichfor there probably isn’t currently in the, Premier League, ansea only £ 6.99 someone who was a defensive midfielder but could carve k up within hour openings at willthe and pop up with more than his fair share of goals.

And although we are going through a golden spell at the club, I do feel that the midfield role next to Leon has brought issues. Joe Allen did a fine job for us in our debut season but with him and Leon, we went sideways a lot. Since then, Ki, JDG, Shelvey and Canas have all played that role and although, all great players, none are near a fit Ferrie Bodde. We have been out muscled at times and often one player can make a difference. A crunching tackle from Bodde against a Stoke or Everton away can lift the team and get the whole side playing with a bit more physicality. We have missed that, there is nobody who we currently have who is able to do that, to really change and influence a game simply with a good old fashioned tackle. He never played in the top flight, he barely played in the Championship and yet I’m certain that he would still be our best player if in our squad. Michu stood our as our best player last season but Bodde stood out more while here and although at a far lower level, our side also contained the likes of Ashley Williams and Leon Britton. We will never know how good Bodde would have been. Personally, I think that he’d be going to the World Cup this summer and may even have the Dutch captains armband. I look back with huge memories and the name ‘Ferrie Bodde’ will always live long in my head.

Matthew Williams Seen him in his first game for us up Oldham away knew by his performance that he was different class

Ian Wishart I totally agree Gerald. A pity because I think he would be kicking ass every game for us. Really gutted when he had so many set backs then had to retire. What a waste one injury that ended what would have been an amazing career

Tony Davies absolute legend, one of the best player we have ever had in the white shirt, he was a class above anything would love to have seem him lead us out in the permiership

I suspected that my husband was cheating, so I came home early to catch him in the act. I ran up into the attic and searched, and down into the basement. Then I went through every closet and checked under all the beds. A Cardiff fan was walking home late at night and sees a woman in the dark shadows. 'Thirty quid,' she whispers.

Taffy had never been with a hooker before, but decides what the hell, it's only thirty quid. So they hid in the bushes. They're going 'at it' for a minute when all of a sudden a light flashes on them. It's a policeman. 'So, what's going on here?' asks the cop. 'I'm making love to me wife,' the Cardiff fan answers sounding annoyed. 'Oh, I'm sorry,' says the cop, 'I didn't know.' 'Well, neither did I, until you shined that bloody light on her face!' Went to the Doctor's Surgery the other day, tried to give my urine sample to the woman at reception, she said I had to give the sample to the Doctor. Made my day. First woman I ever met, who didn't take the piss. I got in touch with my inner self today. That’s the last time I buy toilet roll from Poundland.

I i go t m

You have probably guessed from the last issue and from previous issues, that I have a lot of time for Garry Monk. I liked him as a player, I currently like what he has been doing as a manager but I also really like his attitude.

In his post match interview after the Norwich game, he spoke about his belief that if he gets the job full time that he would have earned it and if he doesn’t then he simply hasn’t earned it: you get what you earn. I really like this philosophy. You do generally get what you earn (unless you work for a council or large company who will generally promote those who are unlikely to rival the people doing the promoting) and you have to be determined to earn it, desperate to win and succeed. I play at a very poor Sunday league level but even in our team, there are players who desperately want to win and players who simply want to play football. It is probable that the later is a healthier attitude to the game at that level but I find myself in the category where I’m not good company for a day or two should we be trounced on a Sunday morning. I think that every team has both sets of players and there are many a great player who doesn’t really care for the teams result, it doesn’t mean that they are not worthy of a place in a team. What is essential though is to have the right balance and to have leaders on the pitch who can force their desire to win onto others and get that extra 10 or 15% out of the players who are happy to walk around the field waiting for the ball to come at their feet.

I have said for a few years (which considering our success makes me a total idiot) that I feel that we are lacking in leaders on the field, players who are desperate to win. I don’t think that our last manager was ‘desperate’ to win, I don’t think that his mood swayed over his Sunday lunch depending on our weekend result but I am certain that our current gaffa (that word fits much better with Monk that Laudrup) is an absolute nightmare to be around after a poor result. Leon Brittons performance against Norwich was that of someone whose life depended on a result, he threw himself around the pitch and was out of this world. Our captain of Wales has been more vocal and is a natural leader and Michu is clearly passionate and doesn’t hold back in showing what a result means to him. Rangel is another who has clearly kicked bottles in the dressing room but after that, I do feel that we may be lacking in Sunday lunchtime moping. This, could become Monks biggest achievement and ‘earn’ him the full time job. If he can encourage those leaders on the pitch to raise the others games then I’m sure we will be a better team for it, get better results and the job is his. I really think that we are a top quality side who often goes missing during matches. We have always suffered from bad spells and generally don’t have that ability to change a game when its going against us. I do think that that ability is on-field leadership, I do think that Monk had it in abundance and I do think that if he can offload that ability onto a few of our senior players then he would have earned the right to be called our next full time manager.

E Hw - T ha w? After spending the first five years of his development at Swansea City, Huws was snared by Manchester City in 2009 and apparently the mega-rich Mancs were a touch reticent when it came to agreeing compensation. While you don't get rich signing cheques, that seems a little cheap considering the means available to them, and it seems their skinflintery has come up trumps as Huws is now looking a serious player indeed. They're reported to have paid in the region of £400k for his capture which, while it's a lot for a 15-year-old, could prove to be a bargain if he establishes himself as a Premier League regular. I've done a bit of digging on the internet to see what reports I can find of Huws, and there's quite a bit from his first loan spell (at Northampton), as well as his current loan spell at Birmingham. Here's some quotes from Northampton fans after he joined them for a spell in late 2012/early 2013. Wales debutant came through Swansea ranks before being poached by Manchester City We're all now fairly used to the Wales team containing a healthy complement of Swansea players, and normally there's a few kicking about who've played for us in the past too. Ashley Williams, Neil Taylor & Ben Davies are all regulars, Jazz Richards has a couple of caps, plus Joe Allen, Sam Ricketts, David Cotterill, Jermaine Easter and Shaun MacDonald have all had varying degrees involvement in the last couple of years. Last month though, a young Manchester City midfielder named Emyr Huws made his Welsh debut and looked impressively composed throughout. For a player of such tender years to be so cool in his first appearance for his country is encouraging for Welsh fans, but for Swansea City fans the name Emyr Huws will possibly always leave them wondering what could have been.

2-0 up against Exeter at half-time and Huws has an assist already. Two great goals so far. Fantastic volley from Bayo and Huws has embarrassed their right back for the second. Clearly above league 2 level he is! Easily the best 45 minutes I've witnessed this season. Loving Huwseeeeee and the general work rate has impressed me. Huws is clearly top drawer. Good passing range and intelligent on the ball. He twisted his defender this way and that to provide the cross for Langers' header. Of course though he got wacked by an Exeter dullard but that's what you expect to happen in League 2 to players that can actually play. http://forum.soccermanager.com/showthread.php?t=51081&page=3

Pretty encouraging stuff for the young Welshman. How do Birmingham fans rate him? A fair indicator of how he's performed so far would be that he's just been named Birmingham's player of the month (not bad for a young lad in the Championship), winning 74% of the vote, and obviously as mentioned his performances have led to his first international appearance, after featuring for all levels of the Welsh Youth setup. He'd also (before departing on loan for the Blues) been given the captaincy of the Manchester City U21 side, and he's clearly a player they hold in high regard. Huws has said that moving on from the Swans was the right thing to do for his career, and that of late Patrick Vieira has told him to model his game on that of Sergio Busquets - you don't get asked to do that if your mentor is unsure of your ability. “I enjoyed my time there but it was the right move for my career to go” “Patrick has been great with me. He’s been a mentor and has improved my game a lot. He wants me to play like Busquets and he thinks I can do that. I went to the Man City-Barcelona game and his awareness on the pitch was class. He’s probably the best defensive midfielder in the world. "Yaya is one of the best players in the world, he’s a good guy and tries to help me out with advice [too]. He gives me tips in training if you ask. It can be intimidating sometimes but you just have to get on with it. I’m used to it now." It seems this is a lad with a big future ahead of him, which can only be good news as far as Welsh football is concerned. If only we could produce a centre-forward to go with all the classy midfielders! For Swansea City and their fans though, it will always be a case of "the one that got away" Article from: www.theswanseaway.co.uk

A Man Asks Which Aisle Are The Irish Sausages In,

Dean Money It's my scouse nephew's birthday tomorrow so as a special surprise I've slipped a £20 note into his nan's purse

The Assistant Says, Are You Irish? Feeling A Bit Offended He Says Yes I Am, But Lets Say If An Italian Asked You Where The Italian Suasages Were Or If A Mexican Asked Where The Taco's Were, Then Would You Ask Them Their Nationality Too

Gerald Roger Jenkins I really hate my job as a male flasher and I was so close to quitting last week.

Probably Not Replied The Assistant,

Mike Jones the oscar pistorius trial heard the motive for the killing and its believed he wont have a leg to stand on... The reason was Oscar wanted a new bathroom door, but his wife was dead against it. The case continues.

And Why Is That Replied The Irishman,? Assistant: Because You Are In Halfords

But then I decided I would stick it out for a little while longer....

I rang up my health centre and said, "I'd like to make an appointment to see the doctor about my dyslexia."

Gerald Roger Jenkins After suggesting an early night with a sultry wink, I was lying in bed watching the missus getting undressed and I said to her, "Don't take yer shoes off babe!"

"Certainly," said the receptionist. "What's your name please?"

As she climbed seductively onto the bed on all fours she playfully giggled, "Does that do it for you honey?"

I said, "Mr. Kulczycki."

"Not really," I replied, "but after this you'll need to nip back down and put the bins out".

She said, "Can you spell that for me?" I said, "No."

Alex Collins: I asked the bookshop owner for the new book by Nick Clegg. "I think I've sold out," he replied. I said "that's the one." Swansea Jack Nigella Lawson is looking slimmer these days. Must be on the Diet Coke Rhiannon Lewis What's the angriest part of the football pitch.....the CROSS bar

Terry Miller Needs to ply his trade at lower levels first. Not ready for premiership yet or he could work under the experienced manager we Darryl Jones Pride is bring in for next season. He's had a full massive in any job an he has it in abundance. Pretty squad to work with recently but one sure he will do a great job win in eleven is not good enough really. Both Palace and West Brom full time. If he stays up I think he's worked us out during the first 45 worth a good go!! minutes and GM did or couldn't do Gerald Roger Jenkins Can nothing to change things. I have no only judge him at the end doubt about his loyalty, determination of the season, so until then and enthusiasm but it's not enough in my opinion. we should all get behind him! Alex Collins The performances have improved Robert Wayne Cook under Monk from the last Needs to do a phill brown few Laudrup games, the at hull, we haven't come results haven't quite followed. out to play the second half since the scum! John 'Jack' Aldron For me, Excellent. No previous James Holt My opinion is experience and to be that he's a coach, not a thrown into a high profile manager, he's very good relegation battle he has at motivating the players, I done well under pressure. believe he'll keep Swans up but come the summer can we see him bringing Few subs here and there that I've been in type of players for the PL, im not dubious about. Other than that, good sure, i'll get behind whoever is in job. charge but I just don't think he's manager just yet.

Wha Fn T Tony Davies Done a great job since coming in, first team to score more than 2 at Anfield all season, unlucky against Napoli, Palace was down to tiredness and sickness, only blip was West Brom in the second half, not his fault the players didnt help 1 bit, Chico is still for me a liability, Rangel is looking past it more with each game and Vorm has been dodgy at times. He will keep us up, whether he is the full time solution right now, not as an outright number 1 but with someone experienced by his side why not? His diamond formation on Tuesday totally lost the opposition, and to change the way we play away from home like that deserves massive credit Alan Godrich Very good apart from the second half against West Brom

Ian Jones Bar 2nd half performances against palace and west Brom I think there's been a noticeable improvement in our style of football and passion. I still would not have Vasquez or Lita anywhere near the 1st team personally. However, I am always sceptical of the success in transition from being one of the lads to the man in charge, in saying that whatever happens between now and the end of the season I think he was the right man to step in when he did and he had the clubs best interests at heart, no doubt about that. Now can we have 3 points Saturday please Adam John Shows what a poor job laudrup was doing if Monk can come in with little experience and do a better job. He'll be replaced after this season. I think he can keep us up if our defence stay solid.

While ‘From Jack to a King’, the film looking at the rise of Swansea City football club is nearly finished, it has been revealed exclusively to Jack Swan magazine that Cardiff City are to be putting on a pantomime over Christmas time. We spoke to Griff Rees Jones about the production. So what is the reason behind this? GRJ: Well we talked about it after hearing that Mal Pope had put together a film for Swansea City and we got together and thought that Cardiff should have a film too. But you opted for a pantomime instead? GRJ: Yes, well the thing with a film is that it takes a lot of work and it also costs a lot of money and to be honest there wasn’t much interest there. Obviously with Swansea, it is a romantic tale of a football club who kept to their principles, wonderful football philosophy, locally owned team who rose through the leagues keeping faith in their squad of players and adding well. Now that’s a story that people want to hear, watch, read about, that story could go into any form and be a brilliant story. We didn’t feel that our club had such a romantic feel and a light hearted pantomime seemed apt. And cheap. So is it a new story or based on another? We are doing Charles Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’, it is based on it but catered for Cardiff football club and a totally different storyline. Is there a scrooge? No, no scrooge as such, there is a man, who in the pantomime we call Vincent Tan and he is visited by three ghosts. A ghost of Cardiff past, a ghost of Cardiff present and a ghost of Cardiff future.

So is it a family show? Oh no, it is very dark in places. Very, very dark. We showed the script to the Cardiff City Supporters Trust and all 3 of its members threw up at different times of reading it, especially the Cardiff future ghost. That was very dark. Does it have a happy ending? I don’t want to spoil it for you but what do you think? We currently sit bottom of the Premier league, guaranteed to be relegated, we have a chairman who has changed our identity and we have done nothing about it and happily bought his new coloured shirts. We are still riddled with debt, although our debt is now to our idiotic chairman who is probably going to leave at the end of the season, should he be able to find another idiot willing to buy him out. Our players are going to be a strain on our wage budget for years to come and their clearly not good enough. The ghost of Cardiff future just shows everyone in Queens street in Swansea City shirts OK!! There I have ruined the ending now, I don’t think it matters anyway, nobody will come and watch this, everyone has had enough of football in Cardiff. But that is our future. We don’t have one. We will cease to exist. In twenty years time, if the story is right, then all of South Wales will be supporting Swansea because there will be nobody else. If it makes you feel any better, we are a fantastic club and supporting us does have a really positive feel. I think you will enjoy the future. It would be nice to see my team score from open play, I tend to take a book to the game now and only watch when we have a corner. Swansea do play fantastic football. Well the future is bright then. Maybe you could have a happy ending in that panto? Yes, I see it now. Cardiff City Football Club dies and everyone supports the Swans but everyone is happy. That makes so much sense, I have been looking at it the wrong way. Well I look forward to seeing your panto. A little tip for you, I’d get your season ticket application in now if I were you because there is a waiting list and I don’t think your future is that long away. Righto

Things are on the up, but this is who I think is in the running at present to become Jack Swans player of the year. Bony: Our stand out players this season without too much of a doubt. Some will argue that he had a slow start but he’s not really gone through a baron goal scoring time at any point since his arrival. I do think that he has fitted into our style of play although I think that it took us a few months to really play to his strengths. The strongest striker in the league without a doubt, deadly in the air, knows where the back of the net is and he’s got some magic tricks and skills as was shown when he set up JDG for his second versus Norwich. He will be going to the World Cup which is the biggest shopping window for footballers every four years. I would like to think that he will be here next season but if he lights up the world cup then we may well be fending off £30 million bids from Europe’s elite.

Nathan Dyer I am always the extreme with Dyer, he’s my marmite and at the moment I absolutely love him. There are a number of players who have been hot and cold this season but when our little hand bag thief has been fit, he’s been our most dangerous player by quite a distance. He’s chipped in with quite a few goals and has looked totally unplayable at times, the home leg against Napoli springs to mind. Monk has been bigging up Routledges chances of an England call up but for me Nathan Dyer could make any bench in the world. A bizarre compliment that one but I really do think that there are few better impact players and if I was 1-0 down and looked at my bench then I’d want him on it.

Leon Britton It has probably not been his best season for us however he is just absolute quality. His performance against Norwich was out of this world, he had grit between his teeth and we were never going to lose that match while he was on the field. He seems to have found himself a little more adventurous at times under Monks stewardship. He has tried a couple of through balls, a little dribble or two and even the odd run into the opponents box. Maybe the gaffa has simply reminded him that he came to Swans as a winger and although he’s amazing in the deep lying role, he still has those attributes which can hurt the opposition. Leon does what Leon does, I reckon he’ll grab his first Premier League goal in the coming matches. You wait.

Special Mention: Ashley Williams: He’s captain of Wales and I feel like he’s really grown as a captain of the Swans in recent weeks. I don’t know whether he and Laudrup got on but it is clearly obvious that our leaders on and off the pitch would share their last rolo with one another. He’s been more commanding and his presence both on and off the pitch has been more noticeable. His performance have improved of late, which also helps. He looks more up for it to me, he wants to score from every corner, he wants to win every tackle and I do think that it has rubbed off on his whole back four. Even if we aren’t raking in the clean sheets yet.
