FRANCE


Geography France, the largest country in Western Europe, has long been a gateway between the continent's northern and southern regions. The Atlantic Ocean in the west; the Pyrenees Mountains and Spain in the south. Capital: Paris Language: French Population: 64,057,792 Major mountains ranges: Alps, Pyrenees, Massif Central. Major Rivers: Seine, Rhine and Rhône.

Climate The climate in France varies with the region. There are five reasonably distinct climate areas: 1. Northern coastal regions have a temperate climate with mild minters and warm but not very hot summers. 2. South­west France – Aquitanie and Poitou­Charente have generally mild winters and warm­hot summers. 3.Mediterranean coast, hot days in the summer, and winters are generally mild and short. 4.Mountains – especially in the Alps, but also the Massif central and the Pyrenees, at high altitudes, winters are long and cold with snowfall.


Rivers The Seine River connects Paris with the Atlantic Ocean, It is navigable for ships of deep sea, and this one to 120 kilometres (75 miles) of the sea.


Monuments There are many monuments in France. Some of the most visited it is Eiffel Tower, The arch du Triumph and Notre­dame's Cathedral.


Natural wonders Mont Blanc is the highest mountain of France. It is in the Alps. Longitude: 1.200 km Altitude: 4.810 meters

The river Loire is the longest river in France. Born in Mount Gerbier­de­Jonc and empties into the Atlantic Ocean. Longitude: 1.020 km Altitude: 1.048 metres
