THE PROJECT
Over recent years, Glasgow Wood Recycling have become increasingly aware of an availability of used whisky casks in circulation, estimated to be approximately 250,000 per annum. No longer useful in the distillation process, the opportunity to think differently about how to maximise the inherent value of these end-of-life oak casks was something we couldn’t pass on. RE-CASK is Glasgow Wood Recycling’s research and development strand which investigates new products and opportunities for these oak barrels. Having developed innovative grading and processing techniques for the staves we’ve been able to unlock huge amounts of potential. As we work towards a more circular and low carbon future, RE-CASK presents an opportunity for us to move closer towards that goal, whilst also providing valuable training opportunities to help combat social exclusion and unemployment within the Glasgow area. We are eager to continue uncovering new applications and practical solutions for these barrels in an ever-changing World.

DESCRIPTION
Designed for multiple uses ranging from creating a place for dry or wet creative experiments to simply storing outdoor play toys and tools, the RE-CASK sand pit is a highly adaptable product. Fully customisable in colour and pattern, these units can be designed to suit all spaces.

All of our outdoor play equipment can be customised to fit its final home. A small range of colours, stencils and patterns are available, prices will vary. GENERAL INFORMATION:
Metal bands are all secured to prevent movement of the staves in outdoor settings. Whilst the oak equipment is highly durable, we would reccomend covering during adverse weather conditions.
