LIVE BROADCASTS FROM THE BOLSHOI BALLET IN MOSCOW 4PM I £12.50, CONC. £10 SUN 19 JANUARY

JEWELS This is a unique full-length abstract ballet with three distinct acts. Emeralds, set to music by Fauré, is infused with a dreamy French romanticism. The fiery Rubies fizzes with the energy and exuberance of jazz-age New York in its setting of ebullient Stravinsky. Finally, Diamonds, using music from Tchaikovsky's Third Symphony, evokes the high classicism of Imperial Russia, here brilliantly danced by the Bolshoi on sparkling form.

SUN 2 FEBRUARY

LOST ILLUSIONS Based on French writer Honoré de Balzac’s novel, Lost Illusions is a new ballet. This stylised adaptation of the novel for the stage, blends thwarted love, ambition and disillusionment with 19th century Paris as a backdrop.

SUN 30 MARCH

THE GOLDEN AGE The Golden Age is a refreshing satire created for the Bolshoi by Yuri Grigorovich. Be fascinated by this original and delightful ballet with its jazz and cabaret musical parodies, frantic pace, passionate intrigue and variety of dance styles (classical, neo-classical, free, grotesque, folk and acrobatic). CHRIS RAMSEY THE MOST DANGEROUS MAN ON SATURDAY MORNING TELEVISION After being “sent off” the Soccer AM sofa last year for misbehaving, Chris wonders whether he really is the Most Dangerous Man on Saturday Morning TV – not to mention, whether he wants to be. Fresh from a complete sell-out, twice extended 2012 tour, multiple appearances on Celebrity Juice and 8 Out of 10 Cats, and a starring role in BBC Two’s Hebburn, Chris embarks on a brand new tour. Taking his brush with on air censorship as a jumping off point to muse on life, mistakes, expectation and offense, he examines what happens when you say the wrong thing in the wrong place at the wrong time.

HEDDA GABLER Icarus brings you one of the earliest challenges to modern patriarchy, a brazen precursor to feminism and gender equality. Hedda is married to George Tesman, a man she clearly no longer loves – indeed, did she ever love him? As she increasingly finds the world closing in on her, Hedda is driven to diabolical ends trying to discover purpose in her life. First published in 1890 by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, Hedda Gabler premiered in 1891 to negative reviews, but has subsequently gained recognition as a classic of realism, nineteenth century theatre, and world drama.

DARE TO CARE By Christine Lindsay, directed by muriel Romanes A co-production with Fife Cultural Trust Arriving for a spell behind bars, where there are no secrets or boundaries, and carrying their life’s baggage, a group of women tell their stories in a sometimes crazy, often poignant insight into their lives and the price they’ll pay. Linked by common threads of hope, fear, love and survival, Christine Lindsay does not offer blame or reason but in each story highlights the difficulties faced by these women in the society of their time. Told in a chorus of words, rhyme and stand up comedy, the collective voice of the women is heard and will resonate with the audience and leave them asking questions about the justice system and conditions facing women prisoners.

This production brings together the award winning team of Stellar Quines Artistic Director Muriel Romanes and designer Keith McIntyre who together created The Unconquered, winner of the Best New Play in the Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland, 2007. “Bursting with wit, intelligence and energy, Stellar Quines brings new vigour to Scottish theatre.” The Scotsman PAGE 8

THE BALL

A musical play, full of Scottish banter and seasoned with teenage love of all things Americana: Elvis, Sandra Dee, twisting, milkshakes and Doris Day. A man looks back fondly to a Punch & Judy stall on a Scottish seaside, and remembers a particular summer from his past. It’s 1960, and he is just 15 years old. Still a child, but going though the kind of boy-to-man stuff we all recognise, his parents dragged him on holiday and to make matters worse, his girl has gone off him for an older (16-year-old) guy. Performed by Dave Anderson, Katie Barnett and Jack Mullen.

FIFE JAZZ FESTIVAL THE BIG CHRIS BARBER BAND "It's incredible" is what audiences and critics say about the gold standard that this jazz master is setting in 2014. At 84, he's the bright, chirpy front man he's always been and every year he seems to set the musical quality bar higher. Apart from Wynton Marsalis, there's no-one playing classic jazz at this level anywhere. 60 years after he first caused a sensation, his band set the benchmark last year. From New Orleans and traditional jazz hits like Bourbon Street Parade and The Saints to a host of Duke Ellington classics. PAGE 18

TORTOISE IN A NUTSHELL IN CO-PRODUCTION WITH CUMBERNAULD THEATRE

FERAL

Feral is an innovative piece of visual theatre that combines puppetry, film and live sound to create and destroy a world in front of its audience’s eyes. Joe looks back at the town of his childhood. Bright, vibrant and idyllic the world resembles a haven of comfort. But as he journeys on, walls and lives are peeled back and the story of a community’s fall unfolds around him. A cross art form piece, Feral seamlessly blends film and live performance. Puppeteers manipulate and bring to life a tiny world, whilst simultaneously creating a live animation, as they follow it’s every breath via digital camera. This co-production was originally developed and presented by the National Theatre of Scotland as part of their Reveal Season 2012. At the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival it was both short listed for a Total Theatre Award and was a winner of a Scotsman Fringe First Award.

Join them on a journey from the 50s right up to 2002 and all the stops in between. All the greatest hits are included – Ring of Fire, Walk the Line as well as the Johnny and June duets Jackson, Long Legged Guitar Pickin’ Man and many more, all the while accompanied by an amazing video back drop with evocative images and shots from Johnny Cash’s life. The show is endorsed by the Cash family – his eldest daughter Rosanne Cash said ‘the resemblance is uncanny’. “What an amazing show, you could have sworn that Johnny Cash was there with you.” The Ironworks, Inverness
