PHILIP CLOUTs QUArTET The Philip Clouts Quartet play uplifting melodic jazz – the music ranges from lilting calypso to driving Latin American grooves, hypnotic swirling melodies, klezmer, township rhythms and gospel. The innovative music of this quartet has been performed on numerous UK tours, and the debut CD Sennen Cove was released in 2010 on Point Records. Clouts lives on the South West coast and the CD features melodic contemporary jazz pieces he has written inspired by the sights and sounds of the area while staying true to his own musical roots in African and Latin music. The quartet’s latest album, The Hour of Pear, has been enthusiastically received and captures composer Philip’s wide-ranging music superbly.

Three unique fiddlers of different backgrounds, the sound they create together is distinctive, pure and rich. Olav Luksengard Mjelva hails from Norway, Anders Hall from Sweden, and Kevin Henderson from Shetland (Boys of the Lough, Fiddlers’ Bid and Session A9). each musician is already one of the best in his field, and Anders Hall had the idea for this unique collaboration. Coming from three well-established fiddling traditions, each brings their style, approach and musical heritage to the collaboration. The sound they make is compelling and extraordinary. While completely unique, you might hear some similarities to Hannah James and Sam Sweeney’s playing, to give you a taste of the style and approach.

THE sOUTH When great British pop institution, The Beautiful South split in 2007, several members of the band weren't ready to let it go. So two years later, singers Dave Hemingway and Alison Wheeler, alongside life long members Damon Butcher (keyboards), Gaz Birtles (sax) and Tony Robinson (trumpet), came out of retirement and formed the 9 piece band, The South. With the realisation that if the fans didn't want it, they wouldn't do it, The South embarked on their journey. But boy, did the fans want it! And still do. Those classic songs live on.
