Wee tots can go wild with the McDougall’s Safari Adventure at Lochgelly Centre, Carnegie Hall and Adam Smith Theatre, discover TV legends at Sooty’s Magic Show at the Rothes Halls or bring their imagination to Weekends With The Family at Kirkcaldy Galleries and Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries, for fun workshops that’ll keep them busy over Fife’s half-term holiday. In 2018, you might have danced at Groove ON, our dementia friendly disco. It makes a return to the Rothes Halls alongside other events across our venues. Look out for our new magic table, Tovertafel, coming soon to Kirkcaldy Galleries where those living with dementia can have fun with interactive light games. Keep an eye out for the Dementia Friendly logo throughout the guide! We’re championing home-grown talent this season, from local drama groups and dance classes to exhibitions and events put together by young people. Glenrothes lass Cora Bissett rocks her punky sell-out Fringe show What Girls Are Made Of, whilst Newport-On-Tay born Horse MacDonald and Kirkcaldy lad Daniel Sloss bring humour, stories and music to the Adam Smith Theatre. Finally, keep an eye out for our events and exhibitions that marks 100 years since the passing of local hero, Andrew Carnegie. There’s something for everyone this season, whether it’s a day out to our museums and galleries or a trip to our theatres, libraries or archives. Why not try something new?

The Browning Version

A Kind of Alaska

THU 14 FEB

FRI 8 MAR

THU 28 MAR

A scintillating one-act satire penned by the Scottish scribe of Peter Pan and What Every Woman Knows. Harry Sims is about to receive a knighthood for his services to business and the art of making money. His dutiful wife has enlisted the services of a typist to respond to the many letters of congratulations Harry has received. But Harry is in for a shock, as a ghost from his past is about to visit.

A timeless masterpiece of love and regret and the human capacity for change. The Browning Version is set after the Second World War, at a boys’ public school and on the eve of Greek Classics teacher, Andrew Crocker-Harris’, retirement.

The Twelve Pound Look

by JM Barrie (1910)

by Terrence Rattigan (1948)

Moving, humorous and displaying a profound understanding of the human heart, only those made of steel will be able to sit through this play dry-eyed.

by Harold Pinter (1982) Based on Oliver Sack’s memoir, Awakenings, Pinter’s thought-provoking play completes Rapture’s season of classic one-acts. Deborah was a lively sixteen-year-old and part of a close-knit family when she fell victim to a strange condition, a sleeping sickness. 29 years later, having been watched over by the same doctor, she awakens and gradually tries to adjust to the world around her.

TUE 7 & WED 8 MAY 7.30PM £17.50 / conc £15 14+

It’s 1992. In a small town in Fife, a girl is desperate to get out into the world. An ad in the local paper declares: Band Seeks Singer. Grunge has gone global, indie kids are inheriting the earth, and a schoolgirl from Glenrothes is catapulted to a rock star lifestyle as the singer in a hot new indie band. Touring with Radiohead, partying with Blur, she was living the dream. Until she wasn’t. Fresh from an award-winning, sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe, performed with a live band, this is the true story of Cora Bissett’s rollercoaster journey from the girl she was to the woman she wanted to be, based on her meticulously detailed teenage diaries.
