Let the wee ones’ imaginations go wild in our free hands-on family-friendly exhibitions at Kirkcaldy Galleries, Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries and St Andrews Museum. You’ll set sail on epic adventures, get lost in the world of children’s books and explore the wonderful world of wildlife and plants! Discover a world of family-friendly films at Lochgelly Centre and Carnegie Hall, with tickets at only £3 each, you can bring the whole family on an adventure! Join in the Space Chase at your local libraries with our Summer Reading Challenge and have an out-of-this-world intergalactic journey to blast boredom to the moon. Tall Tales & Fabulous Fables SAT 25 MAY – SUN 1 SEP Enter the fascinating world of children’s books through our colourful, interactive exhibition. Create your own fairy-tale ending with our giant storyboard frieze, find out what’s inside our magical treehouse or test your nerve with our spooky study. There are also lots of other family-friendly hands-on activities on offer – from quiz sheets and crafty fun to dressing-up costumes – and plenty for the adults too!

Blooming Marvellous SAT 15 JUN – SAT 19 OCT Explore the wonderful world of wildlife and plants through our hands-on, family-friendly exhibition as everything in the garden gets blooming marvellous! With something for adults and the kids, unearth the insects and animals that live among plants and flowers. Meet Polly Potting Shed and enjoy a whole host of fun activities, from puzzles and quizzes to craft activities and dressing-up.

There are wonderful things to see and lots of fun activities and interactives to enjoy, with fascinating objects that have come to our museums from faraway places, such as Japan, China, South Africa, India and Australia. A Day to Play is the perfect mix of performance by professional dancers with an interactive workshop designed for all the family to take part in (even the grown-ups!). Each session is led by professional dancers and the award-winning director and Artist in Residence at BBC Radio 2, Thomas Small. The sessions help children and young people to develop their self-confidence through a range of stimulating exercises and encourage problem solving and collaboration with others. From the moment you arrive at A Day to Play until the moment you leave, you are immersed in new, exciting worlds!

Four hugely talented girls pay tribute to one of the UK’s finest girl bands with breathtaking dance moves, replica costumes and some of the finest vocals in the UK. This is a high-energy show from beginning to end, packed with all of Little Mix’s greatest hits, suitable for all ages!

Summer Reading Challenge 2019 Space Chase SAT 1 JUN – SUN 1 SEP Your space mission – should you choose to accept it – is to have an out-of-this-world Summer Holiday! Celebrate 50 years since human beings first set foot on the Moon by joining Space Chase, Summer Reading Challenge 2019. Read 6 books, collect stickers and complete your mission folder to help save the day! To help you on your way, we have lots of space-tastic events happening in libraries near you! We’ll be going on an intergalactic journey with Cosmos Planetarium; discovering old and new life-forms with Cool Creatures; and will be learning all about animal first aid with PDSA. Remember to also look out for lots of Cosmic Capers and Alien Invasions for our holiday story and craft events! Space Chase, Summer Reading Challenge 2019, will launch in all ONFife Libraries on Saturday 1st June, visit www.onfife.com/src for details of our intergalactic summer activity programme to blast boredom to the moon.

Weekends With The Family

Our Weekends With The Family events are a great way to spend some quality time together, having fun, being creative and learning new things. We’ll be blasting off in June, as part of our Summer Reading Challenge, in a Planetarium Spectacular with Cosmos Planetarium. Everyone requires a ticket for entry to the Planetarium, book online at onfife.com. ON at Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries SAT 22 JUN 11.00 – 3.30PM Planetarium shows on at 11am, 12.15pm & 1.30pm ON at Kirkcaldy Galleries SUN 23 JUN 12.00 – 3.30PM Planetarium shows on at 12.00 noon & 1.30pm £5 for programmed event, plus FREE drop-in activities each day between 12.30 and 3.30pm. Weekends With the Family will return in September, as we tie in with the From East to West exhibition with dragons and a Manga Comic Workshop.
