Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers. Before they were arch-enemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

Tom is an American doctor who goes to France following the death of his adult son, killed in the Pyrenees during a storm while walking The Way of St. James. Tom's purpose is initially to retrieve his son’s body. However, in a combination of grief and homage to his son, Tom decides to journey on this path of pilgrims. While walking, Tom meets others from around the world, all broken and looking for greater meaning in their lives. Along The Way, Tom discovers the meaning of one of the last things his son said to his father. There is a difference between “the life we live and the life we choose.” All the more poignant as real life father and son Sheen and Estevez team up on this beautifully observed piece.

At once deeply personal and universal, Beginners was inspired by Mike Mills’ own father and is meant in turn to inspire everyone weighing their chances and choices in life and love.

Depardieu plays a union leader and Suzanne's former beau who still holds a flame for her. Acclaimed writer-director Francois Ozon (8 Women) creates his own satirical take on the war between the sexes and classes.
