WELCOME It’s the most wonderful time of the year here at ONFife and we have a packed programme of events, exhibitions and other amazing things for you to do! In September, we are delighted to be supporting Dunfermline’s festival of new talent, Outwith, with film, comedy, music, theatre, art and literature across Dunfermline, including Carnegie Hall and Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries. We have author events, workshops and activities at the Not the Edinburgh Book Festival celebrations in August and September and Book Week Scotland events in November. Get spooky with zombies, pumpkins, murder mysteries and more with our October Halloween programme. Some well-known names from film and TV hit the stages across our theatres such as Nathan Carter, Calum Best, Neil Oliver and Danny John Jules, and we are delighted to be introducing live screenings of opera from the Met alongside our popular NT Live theatre screenings. Kirkcaldy Galleries sees a major rehang of its permanent art display, bringing art with a Fife connection and work from Scottish contemporary artists out on display, including works by John Bellany and David Mach. David Mach, the international artist and Turner-prize nominee, is also coming to Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries with a unique monumental sculpture built from newspapers, shipping containers and more, which you can watch him construct in October. Get in the festive spirit with all the family as we approach winter and Christmas. Dame Trot is ready to welcome you to our moo-vellous annual family pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, at Adam Smith Theatre. We also have a wide selection of Christmas music and shows across our theatres. Put your wee ones’ Christmas jumpers on and come down to Carnegie Hall for Tiny Little Christmas, to see classic Christmas movies, the ever-popular McDougalls’ and their Christmas Party, and Paper Moon, a beautiful and memorable Christmas adventure show. This is just a little insight into what’s happening across our venues in Fife, so pop into any of our libraries, museums, theatres, and any of our ONFife venues to find out more.

Vienna – the city of dreams, where melodies are as sweet as Sachertorte and dance rhythms sparkle like champagne! It simply wouldn’t be New Year at Carnegie Hall without the music of Vienna’s most famous son Johann Strauss and his friends. Let us whirl you away to a world of elegant waltzes, playful polkas, and good old-fashioned operetta romance from a real RSNO favourite – tenor Jamie MacDougall. Relax as Scotland’s National Orchestra and conductor Tianyi Lu sweep you off your feet!

Christmas: a time to remember the past, celebrate the present, and look to the future; a time of feasts and festivities; of holly and mistletoe; visits and visitations. A time of ghosts. Enter the Christmas spirit as a spectral woman tells three tales of terror to scintillate the gooseflesh; lighting a candle to human frailty and illuminating the dark depths of winter… Written and performed by Rebecca Vaughan. Directed by Elton Townend-Jones. ★★★★ ‘Holds the audience in the palm of its hand... a near-perfect piece of theatre’ (The Scotsman)

New Old Friends present

Crimes on the Coast By Feargus Woods Dunlop Directed by James Farrell

WED 18 SEP 7.30PM £15 Multi-award-winning theatre company New Old Friends present this comedy thriller directed by James Farrell (Associate Director – The 39 Steps, West End). Inspired by Agatha Christie, Hitchcock and film noir, you are invited on a hilarious but murderous trip to a classic English Riviera retreat. A secluded island hotel just off the English coast becomes a crime scene, as a scandal-inducing femme-fatale is felled. All the guests on the island are suspects, but are they alone and is all quite what it seems? The show enjoyed a sell-out national tour in 2018 and hits the road again in 2019 featuring four actors playing multiple outrageous characters, and a plot that romps along in the company’s trademark inventive style. Singin’ I’m No a Billy He’s a Tim 2 Written by Des Dillon

THU 19 SEP 7.30PM £17 / CONC £16 16+ Scotland’s favourite bigots are back in this hilarious new sequel to Des Dillon’s smash hit comedy, Singin’ I’m No A Billy He’s A Tim. This will take you on a priceless comical journey and promises to have you laughing so hard you’ll be begging for extra time. Join Billy and Tim as they find themselves stuck in the medical room at Hampden Park during the Scottish Cup final between Rangers and Celtic after making a bet that backfires with spectacular consequences. Throw in a gallus wee Glaswegian ghost on a mission from God and a fierce Polish nurse with no time for nonsense and watch ninety minutes of outrageous comedy unfold.

It’s 1959 and President Eisenhower is in the White House. Bev and Russ are moving after the tragic death of their son, and they have inadvertently sold their house to the neighbourhood’s first black family. Fifty years later, in 2009, with the first black President just having taken office, a young white couple buy the same house in what is now a predominantly black neighbourhood. In both instances, racial tensions escalate, the stakes are raised and the play asks the question: have our attitudes to race really changed? Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Tony and Olivier Award for Best Play and hailed as “shockingly entertaining” and “appallingly funny”, Clybourne Park is a razor-sharp satire about the politics of race.

By accident rather than by design (in fact, by not saying “no” to anything, be it a request to obtain confidential information from his company or an offer of illicit sex) he advances from a small part to the lead.
