We’re proud to introduce our new name and identity: ON at Fife. It’s all about what’s happening in entertainment and the arts across your region. Four years ago, Fife Council created the independent Arts & Theatres Trust Fife to develop arts in the area. Since then, we’ve changed from an organisation running four separate theatres, to one Trust, creating as well as presenting a huge range of theatre, arts and entertainment. To reflect this shift, we’ve become ON at Fife. ON is broad, taking in everything from our community events and kids’ entertainment to music, dance and contemporary drama… and conferences, classes, galleries and more… ON at Fife is our core name, the umbrella for our family of venues: ON at Lochgelly Centre, ON at Carnegie Hall, ON at Rothes Halls and ON at Adam Smith Theatre. Our new identity celebrates and reflects our rich, varied programme of shows and events – details of which can be found in this new brochure. The Alexander Brothers + Support Take Me Back Tour 2011 The Alexander Brothers have been entertaining audiences since the 1950s. Their biggest hit single, Nobody’s Child, sold more copies in Scotland in 1964 than did recordings by The Beatles. Scottish Opera

Orpheus in the Underworld Offenbach’s irreverent romp features some of the funniest dialogue and daftest situations in French opera. Originally written to send up the government of Napoleon III’s France, the action has been updated to the present day, as director Oliver Mears draws hilarious parallels with our media-savvy, celebrity-obsessed world. Offenbach’s memorable tunes and wicked sense of humour take the characters from one ridiculous scenario to another, culminating in his riotous ‘Cancan’. With a specially-commissioned translation by comedian and political satirist Rory Bremner, this promises to be a fast-moving evening of wit, mayhem and madness. PAGE 6

Big Wall Climbing Alps, Arctic, Karakoram Doug Scott has reached the summit of 40 peaks, including some of the highest mountains on all seven continents. He will describe some of his most extraordinary climbs, and how he has helped preserve the natural world, and the people in it, through the creation of Community Action Nepal – giving back to the local people who had, in effect, made all his climbs possible. Julie Fowlis Julie has always remained true to her roots and the Gaelic language. Awarded Gaelic Singer of the Year and Album of the Year at the 2007 Scots Trad Music Awards she went on to win Singer of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2008, She picked up another ‘Album of the Year’ in 2010 for her third album Uam (pronounced ‘oo-um’) – a Scots Gaelic phrase meaning ‘from me’. Janis Ian in Concert One of the great American troubadours from the 1960s, Janis Ian first entered the folk music scene as a teenager. Her hugely-successful albums Stars and Between the Lines spawned classics such as Jesse, Tea and Sympathy, Lover’s Lullaby and At Seventeen – her biggest hit which won a Grammy. After a ten-year hiatus, she returned to the recording studio in 1992 and the album Breaking Silence immediately gave her a ninth Grammy nomination. For many this will be a rare opportunity to see one of their musical heroines; for those unfamiliar with her work, it’s a chance to get acquainted with a truly great singer-songwriter. Through oil painting and printmaking on textile supports, Cate’s use of multi-layered surfaces lends a 3-dimensional, sculptural quality to a series of paintings and printed panels.
