ART, STORY OF TRANSFORMATION

Art can explore both the human longing to connect with the broader Universe, and the profound limitation we have that denies the fulfillment of this longing. These are the words of Robert Fritz, musician, composer, and filmmaker who applies the principles of creating in everyday life through his concept of structural tension in the book, Your Life As Art. He talks about creative process as accessible to all of us. This is a revolutionary step in the old story of the artist. Like Fritz, more and more people are finding innovative ways of expanding the experience of consensus reality. Dr. Carl Greer, in his book Change Your Story, Change Your Life, uses shamanic and Jungian tools to explore our life stories in order to make more conscious choices of the stories that guide our values and decisions. Jose Luis & Shamans Peruvian Shamans and Inka Medicine People, this four part series will deliver instruction and direct experience of the shamanic initiatory path. Including a combination of lecture, personal processes, ceremony, healing exercises, and contemplation, this cosmovision of power and healing has for millennia been used effectively to attain maximum benefit in the course of one’s life. Each of the four-day training segments will be held on rural land in the beautiful Aptos Hills of Santa Cruz County. Lectures and some ceremonies will be conducted in a newly-constructed 30’ yurt. The surrounding acreage will be used by students for their personal contemplative work, attunement with mother earth, and a variety of training exercises. Class size is small and will allow each individual the opportunity to dive deeply into this powerful work under the masterful guidance of Jose Luis. The First Class (April 21st through 24th) addresses memories of the soul and our individual and collective memories of the past. Participants will learn the ways of the land and the Great Mother as they retrieve long lost soul pieces. Through a variety of ceremonies and personal exercises, participants will be enabled to break free of years of binding imprints and patterns. The Second Class (scheduled for September 21st through 25th) teaches the nature of perception and the shaman’s way of seeing. As participants learn to master hypnogogic states they will be able to summon the memories of their healed states and to map healing, transformation, and embodiment of their destiny and full power. The Third Class (to be scheduled for April, 2017) explores the nature of time, of existence, and fulfillment. Trainees learn to awaken

own medicine body becoming aligned and connected to the Shaman’s altar and the Universal Laws of Nature. Throughout this training participants will create their own Mesa or Medicine Bundle in the tradition of the master shaman’s of Peru. The Mesa will become a tool for growth and a map of healing and transformation through the Medicine Path. The entire program represents a powerful body of knowledge, ritual, healing techniques, and rites of passage. The Shaman’s Cosmology is offered in a small class format. It is geared to provide maximum benefits for growth and empowerment. Tuition for each training segment is $595. A $250 deposit will reserve space in this small and powerful class. For Santa Cruz Nature Lovers . . . It’s The Place to ‘Celebrate Santa Cruz’ @ MAH As a young child, Tim Corcoran developed a deep connection to the land and sea throughout California’s central coast. The central coast was his playground. At the age of twelve, he conceived the idea of an art book that would celebrate and give thanks to the region that was such an important source of his inspiration. Santa Cruz and the Central Coast is the realization of this idea— a realization of a dream. Tim hopes that it will inspire others to seek out the beauty in the regions that they live, so that they, too, will be inspired to protect and save the land. The central coast was a dream place for a nature loving kid. I became a photographer at twelve years old. I began in earnest to document through photography the beauty of this wonderful meeting of ocean and land. This book is my dream through my art to share my love and wonderment with the central coast. I dreamed of this book at twelve years old while at Franklin Point. I lived in

Santa Cruz for 30 years. I worked to make a living and I worked to save the land. I played endlessly with the land. I found love and great friendships. The meeting of sea and land at this place called the central coast is in my blood and always will be. This book is a chance for me to express my gratitude to this place for shaping my life. This book is my thank you, this book is my celebration. Please join Tim Corcoran at MAH on March 12th (Info: (831) 818-0480) to hear about his ‘nature adventures’ and join him anytime by purchasing his ‘not-only beautiful Santa Cruz County Coffee Table Book’, but also a big piece of Santa Cruz to keep with you forever (wherever you go; wherever you live) about out beauty-full area.). July 4th ... Is Now A Day Of Mourning

by Dr. Gabriel Russo

was brought up as an American, proud to be born in a free country. We were taught how we were a unique people on this earth, born of a revolution that recognized we were born with inalienable, God given rights as sovereign human beings. I have been proud to be an American, born of and part of a proud and free people. I am disgusted at what this country has become. Have we totally lost our constitutional republic, with a government by and for the people? This is a government bought by the lobbying interests, for the service of those who will pay them. Where is this freedom that I was taught about? How did we get to where we are now when we have a medical dictatorship, a government that has the gall to impose upon us that we take vaccinations against our free will, against the basic principles upon which our country was founded. The design of this country is that the government serves its people, not forces them against their will. This is the action of a dictatorship mandating dangerous practices to its “subjects”, not of a government respecting the rights of the people. How lost have we become as a people that we have allowed this government to mandate to us against our free will, to act as our dictator? There really is no pretense anymore that we are a free people; this is not how a free country lives!! We are told vaccinations are safe. If they are safe, why have there been payments made of over $3 billion dollars to families whose kids have suffered from the effects of a vaccine, who have lost their normal lives as a result of a vaccine. $3 billion dollars is a lot of damage, but these are only the people who have been able to prove there was a direct cause. (What is outrageous is that the money paid out to families cannot bring back their children, but can be used to pay for the care necessary to manage a life that has been taken away, for a human being who can’t even take care of themselves.) Do the pharmaceutical companies who have made the vaccines pay for these reparations? No, they are immune; it is the taxpayers who pay. Somehow, in their inconceivable corruption, the government/and pharmaceutical companies have set up a system where the one who causes the damage is not even liable to pay for the damages. The fact that there is no liability for the vaccine makers means they can put anything they want in these cocktails of destruction without any accountability when people are hurt! Any other manufacturer in this country who makes something that hurts people is liable for damages, but not the vaccine makers!! It gets even worse. Recently, in August of

2014, William Thompson, senior epidemiologist at the CDC, admitted that he and his associates ignored and suppressed research evidence verifying the link between vaccinations and their causing autism. This is just one example of the corruption and treason of the system. Actually, whatever the research shows or doesn’t show about the links with vaccinations and autism, the numbers are quite revealing. In 1980, the incidence of autism was 1 in 10,000. In 2013, it was 1 in 50. This directly correlates to when the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines were put into one formula, and the schedules were increased. If someone believes that vaccinations can help them, they can choose to receive them. What does that have to do with my right to make a choice? What happened to our right to choose, the first right of a free people protected by our constitution? What is there to celebrate on July 4th? As Americans, we celebrated when the Berlin Wall came down in Germany. I pray that the wall of money, deceit, and corruption in this country fall down. How did our God given rights as a free people to decide whether or not to give our children a vaccination get stolen from us? We need to take back our rights. P.S. What mainstream newspaper would allow this opinion to be published in their paper? Do you know our free press has been stolen also? It’s all the same thing. Editor’s NOTE: Well, of course, it is Connection Magazine (who is our ‘free press’). AND, this magazine has had something in every issue regarding Vaccines, Vaccinations (hard, scientific research), and horrific, real-life testimonials about beloved children whose lives have been ‘taken’ from Vaccines either by death or autism, etc., etc. This information has been in almost every magazine issue of Connection Magazine for 23 years now. —Pattie Mills Dr. Gabriel Russo is a practicing chiropractor in Santa Cruz since 1992. Beauty in the Bedroom F by Megan Montero ENG SHUI IS an intricate system of bringing balance to our environment and thereby restoring balance to the lives of the occupants. Beauty has an important role to play in this. Our home is a mirror that can reflect positive chi (energy) to us. This, in turn, positively affects our lives. Why Megan Montero not surround ourselves with more beauty? When we surround ourselves with things that spark joy or make our hearts sing, it makes us happy, it helps us to relax and gives a feeling of inner peace. In today’s fast-paced, fear-based modern way of living, we need all the peace, relaxation, beauty and joy that we can get! Sometimes, it’s hard to make time for Beauty. Many people feel they are too busy. It’s not uncommon for bedrooms to be the least decorated room and often the most neglected room in the house. Why put effort into a room that most guests will never see? But what

about what you see? From the perspective of Feng Shui, which is all about how our space affects our health and wellbeing, the bedroom is the most important room in the house! It’s the last thing you see before going to bed and the first thing you see when you wake up; those moments have a profound effect on the rest of your life. Imagine what your life would be like if what you saw in those moments was beauty? Last year, I worked hard to bring beauty to my bedroom. I knew my bedroom needed a transformation, but I had a lot of resistance to the expense and the work it would take. I started with a few of the easy things first, and stalled for a while mulling over the more challenging changes. Then, some special guests were coming to visit, my teacher and his fiancé, and I would be giving them my room. Now I had a deadline! I began my search looking for a new duvet cover that truly made my heart sing. It took awhile to find just the right one. The one I found is gorgeous and it set the tone for the rest of the room. I never liked the blinds that came with my rental and I was dreading figuring out what to replace them with. Having a highly sensitive nose and a sensitivity to chemicals (I can smell the chemicals in fabrics)

had me steering away from many of the easier ready-made options. I was looking for something soft that would also block out the light. My friend, who I call the sewing wizardess, helped me make curtains. We had lots of fun and the result is stunning! It’s important to hold to your own vision of beauty, not someone else’s. After a few more finishing touches, the beautification in my bedroom was completed. Now every time I walk in, actually every time I even glance into the room, I smile and feel a sense of peace, joy and inner harmony. A Remedy For Oxidative Stress

N MY LAST article I wrote about “Seeking the Underlining Causes of Imbalance”, p28 of Oct-Nov 2015. Today, let’s talk about oxidative stress and free radicals, how they work and how they create disease. If you compare the Malin Ashby cells in our bodies to car engines, they have similar combustion engines. When we are young, our enzymes, like catalytic converters in car engines, function to clean up the toxic byproducts our bodies generate. As we age, our bodies produce more free radicals and fewer of the special enzymes that fight them. This leads to oxidative stress. Oxidative stress represents an imbalance between the production and manifestation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and a biological system’s ability to readily detoxify at the cellular level. We metabolize our food by combining digested food with oxygen, which furnishes energy to our bodies. This process can also

5

generate dangerous byproducts. These include free radicals. Free radicals are electronically unstable atoms or molecules capable of stripping electrons from other molecules. In their wake, they create even more unstable molecules that then attack their neighbors in a domino-like fashion. This causes toxic effects through the production of secondary free radicals that damage all components of the cell, including proteins, lipids, and DNA. While one antioxidant molecule can fight only one or two free radicals before it is depleted, the body’s free radical-fighting enzymes can each eliminate up to one million molecules per second, every second, without being used up in the process. Much has been learned about oxidative stress in the last decade, and it is now often seen as an imbalance that has its origins in our genes, and the ways in which gene expression is regulated. At the center of this new focus is the transcription factor called Nrf2, which is now referred to as the “master regulator” of the anti-oxidant response and modulates the expression of hundreds of genes, including the antioxidant enzymes. Thus the impairment of Nrf2 provides a logical explanation for the connections between observable oxidative stress and perhaps 200

5

human diseases. This implies that the immune and inflammatory systems may present the largest demand for increased anti-oxidant protection under the common control of Nrf2. Learn more at the research site (Mol Aspects Med. 2011 Aug:l32 (4-6):234-46:10.1016/ j.mam2011.10.006. EPub 2011 Oct 15). Protandim, which helps increase the anti-oxidant enzymes, contains some herbal ingredients such as milk thistle, bacopa, Ashwagandha, green tea, and tumeric. These herbs stimulate the antioxidant enzymes. See the article entitled “Upregulation of phase II enzymes through phytochemical activation of Nrf2 protects cardiomyocytes against oxidative stress.” This research article was published in Free Radical Biol Med, 2013 March; 56: 102-111. dpi: 10.1016/j.freerad biomed. 2012. 11.016. Epub 2012 Nov 30. In this article, the researchers convincingly state that there is significant modulation by Protandim of pathways involving antioxidant enzymes, which is done so with a highly synergistic phytochemical Nrf2 activator, found in Protandim. In other words the use of Nrf2 may be a remedy for oxidative stress. Malin Ashby, at (831) 706-5508 or Malinchief@gmail.

possibilities in you life; n Handle transitions – health, career or relationship changes; and n Remove blocks to success and fulfillment. You begin by choosing a playing focus, which provides the foundation for “the Game.” Select one particular situation that you are currently dealing with in your life. For example, you might choose to focus on pursuing a career that more clearly reflects your life’s purpose or on deepening an interpersonal relationship. Then you make a clear statement such as “I intend to clarify my career aspirations,”

“I intend to release my fear of intimacy” or “I intend to nurture and honor my physical body.” As you hold your focus in mind, the Game will speak directly to the issues it raises and provide clear feedback on how your life can be transformed to reach your goal. The experiences you face while playing will give you clarity, understanding and new directions on your specific issue. As Mary Inglis of Innerlinks UK (www.innerlinks.com) explains the Game: “One way of viewing it is

that it aims to recreate in miniature the soul’s journey through life, providing a context where people can look at the kinds of experiences they create and assess the value of their particular patterns, attitudes and responses to life. It highlights strengths, identifies blind spots and limitations, and brings fresh perspectives to current challenges.” On Wednesday, March 23rd , from 6:30 to 8:00pm, Trish O’Connor is hosting a Transformation Game demonstration and Q&A session at the Center for Health in Santa Cruz, CA. How Can Acceptance and Commitment Lift Depression? by G. Katie Dashtban, Psy.D.

I

MAGINE YOU WERE able to have a dialogue with your own thoughts. It’d be something like the two angels on your shoulders talking back and forth. Let’s call the angel on your right shoulder “Positive Thoughts” and the angle on your left shoulder “Negative Thoughts.” Now, think of a time when you were feeling pretty down, depressed, hopeless, irritated, tearful or sad. Try to remember where were you and who were you with (maybe alone?) and what were you doDr. Katie Dashtban ing (maybe try to fall asleep and couldn’t?) Now try to remember some of the thoughts that were going through your mind at that time, maybe even going through your mind right now as you are thinking of that moment. See if you can jot down some of your thoughts. For example, let’s assume the following thoughts:

1. 2. 3. 4.

I blew it; They wont want to see me again; Everyone will think I am a fool; I can’t believe I could not pull it off; 5. I am just too slow, too stupid, or too “something”; 6. It’s now over, I will not be able to redeem myself again. Now, let’s say that the positive thoughts (right shoulder angel) come from a place where you are accept-

Page 13

5

ing yourself with all your flaws and all your perfections and whatever in between. No judgment; all loving and comfortable with what and who you are. And let’s imagine the negative thoughts (left shoulder angel) come from a place where you are highly self-critical, punitive, unkind, and a hard to please person. Now imagine this conversation between the two angels: Left Angel: “You blew it, they won’t want to see you again, and you are just too slow and too stupid.” Right angel: “You are right, I did seem to be slower than some of the other people, but also a bit faster than a few other ones too. And yes, it might just be true that these people may choose to not see me again and instead choose to invite those people faster than me. And, yes it might even be true that my level of smarts is only so much, and I am sure there are smarter people than me in this world, and some who are less smart than me. But I love myself the way I am. I refuse to make myself feel bad, ashamed and be critical of myself over qualities that actually describe me. So, while it might have been nice to be wittier, it sure is nice to be what I am. I am fine, and I will be OK, no matter who invites to see me.” Next time you find yourself torn with sad and depressed feelings, identify what the angels on each shoulder are saying. Then use “Acceptance” as a technique to reduce those depressed feelings. And, unexpectedly, you might notice a welcomed sigh of relief from those awful negative feelings. Dr. G. by Sheryl Walters The tremendous benefits of regular massage are irreplaceable to the human body. Massage is a variety of sometimes ancient techniques that manipulate the soft tissues of the body. It can definitely relax you, but there are some benefits of massage that go far beyond relaxation. Pain and anxiety are two common problems associated with receiving massage therapy. By soothing muscles and nerves a greater state of well being is achieved for the recipient. When you take this concept further you find that massage can also benefit chronic pain and even self esteem. Massage allows for person to person contact that promotes feelings of comfort and soothing. Medically massage is used for sports related injuries and to promote optimum performance of muscles. Through a pattern of exercise and massage, injuries can be avoided and greater athletic achievements can be accomplished. The regular massage prevents small injuries from becoming bigger ones and the athlete avoids the pain cycle all together. Massage is also an immune system enhancer that benefits patients

with chronic immune system diseases like HIV. Increasing the circulation of healthy blood cells in the body helps these patients fight off disease better and keep a more positive mental attitude that is crucial for their survival. Infants and babies have shown positive responses to massage through toddlerhood. The birthing process is often made easier and less complicated by regular massage during pregnancy and throughout the labor process. Massage for premature babies promotes better weight gain, and massage for babies with diabetes correlates with better lifelong compliance with regimens and healthier lifestyle choices. The effects of massage on patients with high blood pressure should also not be overlooked. Massage can play a key part in the regulation and control of chronic high blood pressure by not only relaxing the patient, but also by helping the central nervous system to balance as it regulates blood flow throughout the body more efficiently. Regular massage combined with isometric exercise has been shown to improve both the blood pressure and blood regulation in patients. Continues on Page 16

How does yoga improve mental health?

Movement, Postural & Structural Body and Education

Z E

cal exercises, called “asanas, are what modern Westerners typically think of when they hear the term “yoga. The roots of yoga date back tens of thousands of years. Yoga, in the grander sense of the word, is not just physical exercise. It is more than asanas. It consists of an entire philosophy and prescription for emotional and spiritual well-being. Yoga asanas (or postures) were developed

to prepare the body and mind for long periods of meditation. Ancient yogis believed that it was difficult to reach heights of spiritual awareness with a body that was suffering from ill health. The mind also needed to become calm and serene, and this was accomplished through the physical practice of asana. Through trial and error over thousands of years, yoga evolved to become a powerful and effective mind/body practice. Thus, yoga is a special form of exercise specifically designed to calm the mind and reduce mental chatter and worry. Certainly, you might feel some stress relief from jogging or tennis, but yoga, unlike most western forms of exercise, was actually designed to create a sense of peace and serenity. Western studies have shown that regular exercise can provide relief from depression. In addition, yoga postures have been specifically shown to increase levels of the neurotransmitter GABA, which may alleviate depression. Furthermore, as many enthusiastic practitioners of yoga will tell you, yoga seems to go beyond the benefits of general exercise and helps increase overall happiness.

The Way A

by Professor Chris Smith s a boy growing up in Philadelphia, sports played a huge role in my life. After school and weekends were spent playing every sport imaginable. Whether it was pick-up games with neighborhood friends or organized team sports, the majority of my waking hours consisted of a constant stream of wins and losses. Nobody like to lose, but it is through losing that we learn to truly win. Over the past twenty-five years in my role as physical educator and Martial arts instructor, I have seen an enormous increase in the frequency of “poor sports. People today just don’t seem to know how to lose. I would have to attribute this unfortunate phenomenon to the decrease in physical activities, and the many-fold increase in the use of technology. An additional factor may well be the pressure to succeed at all costs in an increasingly competitive environment. Lack of positive guidance and role models may also play a part. It is reaching a point where it is hard to watch. An individual’s self worth is not based upon winning or losing. Self worth is structured around the inevitable successes and failures that are a part of everything

we do. How we integrate our emotions surrounding loss is a very important strategy for life. I have seen countless “champions quit because they couldn’t handle the inevitable downside of their success. At the same time, I have seen countless “losers persevere through their defeats to become true champions not only in their sport

Professor Chris Smith of choice, but in life in general. I’ll take the “underdog over the “golden boy any day. Martial arts is an excellent vehicle for the formulation of a “good sport. Throughout our martial arts practice, we will be dealt countless opportunities to lose with dignity. I have never met a student who, if they stick with martial arts, doesn’t turn out to be a an all around champion, win or lose. Being on the receiving end of defeat is as much a part of being a martial artist

as is tying our belt. There will always be someone faster, stronger, and more technical. The longer you go without realizing this, the more abrupt the realization will be. I have seen thousands of students come through our academy. Some have been “better sports than others. Our staff is relentless in ensuring that our students are honorable in both victory and defeat. It does not come naturally to some. There are a myriad of opportunities for us to work with our students, when the subject of “sore loser arises. It is not always easy, but we know that it is unacceptable to allow the concept to fester. It must be addressed, until the student’s character reaches a point where they can readily accept the fact that they will win some and lose some. We have a saying in jiu jitsu, “You’re either winning or learning. Chris Smith is the owner and head instructor of Tiger Martial Arts in Aptos. and decreasing blood flow to targeted areas. This circulates the blood and lymph, thus removing stale bodily fluids from vital organs and helping flush toxins. The physical movement can also stimulate certain hormones and neurotransmitters, leading to positive feelings and emotions. Additionally, according to the Eastern medical model, yoga exercises are also designed to specifically move the “prana or life force energy in the body (traditional Oriental medicine calls this “chi). Keeping this life force fresh and alive is vital to well-being, according to Eastern philosophy. Yoga poses stimulate certain aspects of the body’s energetic system, comprised of “chakras (energy centers) and “nadis (the yogic term for “meridians or energy channels). As stuck prana is moved and energized, old emotional wounds manifesting as blockages in the energy centers and channels can be released. This may explain why so many yoga practitioners experience a sense of emotional release from practicing certain poses, such as a spontaneous expression of tears, providing a sense of extreme relief and peace afterwards. The special breathing exercises that go along with yoga (called “pranayama) also serve to energize the body by bringing fresh quantities of prana in through the breath. These breathing exercises can also alleviate anxiety and create a sense of calm and Continues on Page 17

VASPER: The Workout of the Future

by Beau Jansen Vasper, which stands for Vascular Performance was created by scientific visionary Peter Wasowski. By combining a unique and precise compression technology, body temperature cool-

of energy,” says Wasowski. “If you were to look inside their muscles you would see high concentrations of lactic acid, and the higher the concentration, t h e stronger the feedback to the brain requesting growth hormones and other anabolic hormones, such as DHEA,

IGF1 and testosterone, which rebuild damaged tissues.”(1) As we age our natural anabolic hormones begin to decline. By using the compression and cooling technology together with grounding, Vasper is able to create a physiological response in adults equal to high intensity exercise without the wear and tear associated. The net result is that Vasper stimulates the brain to release large amounts of endogenous hormones to hormones that rejuvenate, rebuild and heal. This downstream anabolic effect can have different effects in different people, some feel highly energized and ready to exercise, while others feel the need to sleep. We have found that

Kundalini yoga is a form of yoga that involves dynamic, repetitive movements and breath work to move the energy and lift the spirit. It is the only form of yoga that specifically targets certain glands in the brain, such as the pituitary and the pineal glands, to activate them for improved health and well-being. (For an excellent book on the subject, see Meditation as Medicine by Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D. and Cameron Stauth.) Ideally, if you are looking to yoga to improve mental health, consider finding a class that combines some meditation before or after the postures. Meditation has also been shown to increase positive emotions such as loving-kindness and happiness in some studies. With the variety of yoga styles available, you may have to try out a few different classes to see what appeals to you the most. Do not be discouraged if you aren’t immediately drawn to the first class you attend. Be aware that not all yoga classes are equal. Some classes include pranayama breath work and others do not. Some include chanting and others do not. You may even find yoga classes in your area specifically for Christians, while others may be more secular. It’s a good idea to check out a few studios and classes and find the one that resonates

with you the most. Remember, yoga alone cannot cure depression if you are otherwise treating your body and your mind badly. Alcohol, drug use (including mind-altering prescription drugs), poor diet, lack of sleep, and other bad habits can negate the positive effects of yoga. Doing yoga regularly will also make a huge difference in its effectiveness. Ideally, practice yoga for at least 20 minutes daily, or at a minimum three times per week. You can supplement outside yoga classes with a simple, at-home practice. With the popularity of yoga soaring, DVDs and books on yoga are plentiful. There’s a reason why people who practice yoga often credit it for changing their lives. Unlike no other exercise on the planet, yoga provides physical as well as emotional benefits that can create true happiness and well-being. Best of all, you can do it at home for free, with no negative side effects. Stephanie Brail is a wellness coach, healer and hypnotherapist. Yoga

What type of yoga should you use for depression? Not all yoga is the same. Since its introduction to the West, yoga has branched off into a variety of styles and flavors. The type of yoga you choose should reflect your physical requirements as well as your spiritual interests. Some kinds of yoga are very physically strenuous and can potentially create more stress if you are in a class where everyone is powering through a challenging set, leaving you feeling inadequate or overwhelmed. Yoga styles such as power yoga or ashtanga can be quite physically challenging. Yoga flow classes may be more about losing pounds and sweating out calories than creating mental peace and clarity. Unless you are already an athlete and looking for a strenuous workout, you might consider trying a more relaxed style. If you are just starting out with yoga, you might try a beginner’s yoga class or a gentle yoga class. Restorative yoga classes can be wonderfully rejuvenating; they consist of gentle poses, often using bolsters and props to allow you to rest and relax in the pose.

URING THE 2013 BALLOT CAMPAIGN to label genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in Washington State, the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) resorted to an illegal moneylaundering scheme to protect the identity of members who donated funds to the opposing campaign. Several major food companies experienced major backlash from consumers who felt betrayed when the company’s contributions to the 2012 anti-labeling campaign in California came to light. Those donating to the Washington campaign certainly wanted to avoid the same fate. Fortunately, their scheme did not go unnoticed. On October 16, 2013, Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed suit against the GMA on behalf of the State of Washington, alleging the association had violated the state’s campaign disclosure laws — both by failing to register a political committee, and by concealing the true source of its campaign funds. According to Ferguson, the GMA began plotting and planning how to best defeat Initiative 522 back in December of 2012, placing particular emphasis on the establishment of a separate GMA fund to “combat current threats and better shield individual companies from attack.”

Internal Records Reveal Intent to Lie and Conceal The Attorney General’s Office recently announced that documents related to the lawsuit have now been unsealed. This includes internal GMA memos and documents detailing the association’s “systematic effort to conceal the sources of $11 million in contributions to oppose Initiative 522.” The GMA even provided “media guidance” to members about how to lie when confronted about their contributions to the antilabeling campaign. According to the Attorney General’s press release: “Regarding possible questions on their ‘position on the ballot initiative’ or their ‘financial support,’ GMA suggested the following: Q: Is your company providing funding to the ‘No on I-522’ campaign in Washington State? A: No. Company X is a member of the Grocery Manufacturers Association and supports the work the association does on product safety, health and wellbeing, sustainability and a host of other issues. We support GMA, and its position on genetically modified ingredients and the association’s opposition to I-522 in Washington State. GMA’s views and financial support for the ‘No on I-522’ campaign reflect the views of most food and beverage manufacturers in the United

Page 18

5

States.’ GMA rejected an initial draft statement where members would say that GMA ‘uses the funds at our discretion,’ finding that it ‘will lead the press and or NGO groups right where we don’t want them to go — meaning, ‘are you assessing you [sic] members, or do you have a ‘secret’ fund of some kind.’“

Summary Judgment Asks for Minimum $14 Million Penalty Attorney General Ferguson recently filed a motion for summary judgment, asking the judge to rule in the state’s favor without the need for a trial. The hearing was set for Feb. 19 in Thurston County Superior Court. Ferguson has requested maximum penalties to be applied. As noted in his motion, “While proof of intentional concealment is not required, state law permits treble penalties if the fact-finder determines a person intentionally concealed the source of a political contribution or expenditure.” In this case, such proof does exist, and according to Ferguson, the GMA engaged in five separate acts of intentional concealment and the penalty should therefore be tripled for each count. The GMA also violated “several state laws” by failing to file more than 58 disclosure reports of contributions and expenditures. According to Ferguson’s motion: “GMA’s conduct was so egregious that it ranks amongst the worst in state history. GMA worked to ‘shield’ the actions of major food companies from the very public entitled to know who was trying to

Connection Magazine

influence their vote on Initiative 522. “This type of blatant disregard for state disclosure laws and the transparency demanded by the people of Washington deserves the Court’s closest scrutiny. GMA’s significant wrongdoing deserves an equally significant response by this Court ... “Applying even one of the statutory remedies, the Court should award — at a minimum — a penalty equal to the over $14 million GMA concealed from the public.”

Can You Really Trust GMA Members? The GMA’s 300+ members include chemical/pesticide, GE seed, and processed food and beverage companies. Together, these industries are working in a symbiotic fashion to grow, subsidize, and manufacture foods that have been clearly linked to growing obesity and chronic disease epidemics. In this case, 34 of these disease purveyors, including Monsanto, took part of this illegal money laundering scheme. And to what aim? To lie to you, and I do literally mean lie. I never knew that it is legal to tell bold-faced lies in campaign ads that have no relation to the truth. These lies prevent you from knowing what’s in the food they sell. So far, Campbell Soup Company is the only company that has vowed to change its ways and give consumers what they want — the truth. Vermont’s GMO labeling law — the first in the U.S. — takes effect on July 1 this year. Campbell’s recently broke ranks with the GMA and the rest of the food industry by announcing it will comply with the Vermont law. Campbell’s executives also

said they will reformulate certain products to remove the GMO ingredients. Moreover, Campbell’s confirmed that food prices will remain unchanged — which is what we’ve been saying all along. Contrary to industry fear mongering, it really doesn’t cost anything extra to add a few words to the label, and Campbell’s has now confirmed this fact. But aside from Campbell’s, can you really trust any GMA member to be honest, open and forthright about their products? History and legal fact is now against them, and if you care even in the slightest about the nature of the food you feed yourself and your family, I urge you to take a close hard look at your favorite brands to ascertain whether or not they can be trusted.

Boycotting GMA Members Made Easy For the past three years, there’s been an ongoing call to boycott GMA member brands until they cancel their GMA membership, and if you haven’t done so before, now would be a good time to get serious about boycotting these traitor brands. There’s no two ways about it; by being members of the GMA, they are affiliated with a criminal element that destroys their reputation and severely undermines their integrity. The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) has created a smart phone application called Buycott, which has already been downloaded by almost half a million people, to step up the boycott against GMA member brands. The app also helps you determine ethical brands that deserve your patronage. If you don’t have a smartphone, or if you don’t want to use your smart phone in the grocery store, it’s even simpler. Don’t buy any processed food or beverage, or any food whatsoever unless it has one or more of these labels: n “USDA 100% Organic” n “100% grassfed” n “Non-GMO Verified”

FDA Vows to Begin Testing Food for Glyphosate Besides avoiding GMOs, another major reason to choose organic food is to avoid toxic pesticides. One of the most commonly used pesticides in the world, glyphosate — the active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup — was reclassified as a Class 2A “probable human carcinogen” just last year. Because glyphosate has been wrongly assumed to be safe — a

claim Monsanto still clings to in face of all the evidence stacking up against it — it’s never been on the list of pesticides that the U.S. government tests foods for. Now, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finally announced it will begin testing foods for glyphosate residues. According to Time Magazine, the decision “comes after the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) rebuked the agency for failing to do such assessments and for not disclosing that short-coming to the public.” During its 2014 audit, the GAO found a number of deficiencies in the FDA’s pesticide residue program, but the failure to test for glyphosate was specifically criticized. According to FDA spokeswoman Lauren Sucher, “The agency is now considering assignments for Fiscal Year 2016 to measure glyphosate in soybeans, corn, milk, and eggs, among other potential foods.” Start-up costs for the implementation of glyphosate testing have been estimated at about $5 million. As noted in the featured article: “Under the existing regulatory framework, the EPA sets standards — known as tolerances — for pesticide residues on foods. An arm of the USDA monitors meat, poultry, and processed egg products to ensure they do not violate EPA’s tolerances, while FDA monitors other foods, including fruits and vegetables. The USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service gathers annual residue data for highly consumed foods. But unlike the USDA, FDA holds enforcement authority, the ability to take action against a company, if residues exceed legal levels, though critics have charged the FDA’s enforcement powers are weak.”

Consensus Statement Reiterates Concerns About Glyphosate Risks Unfortunately, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) raised the allowable limits for glyphosate in food in 2013, and there’s reason to suspect that current allowable limits may be set too far high to protect human health. So, unless the allowable limits get a second in-depth review, you may be lulled into a false sense of security if FDA testing shows levels within allowable limits. On February 17, a consensus statement on glyphosate risks was published in the journal Environmental Health. Noting that “regulatory estimates of tolerable daily intakes for glyphosate in the United States

March — April 6, 2016

and European Union are based on outdated science,” the authors call for more independent studies, including biomonitoring studies and lifetime exposure studies, as well as more comprehensive studies to ascertain the risks associated with exposure during different stages of human development, and in combination with other chemicals.

Congress Presses EPA About Health Risks of Dow’s Herbicide Enlist Duo Pesticide exposure is finally starting to get the attention it deserves, although we still have a very long way to go. In related news, 35 members of the U.S. Congress are now questioning the EPA about its review of Dow Chemical’s new herbicide, Enlist Duo, which contains both glyphosate and 2,4-D — a component of Agent Orange. The weed killer is a next-generation “solution” to combat glyphosate resistant weeds, and will be used on Dow’s 2,4-D and glyphosate-resistant corn and soybeans. According to the Chicago Tribune: “In a letter sent to McCarthy late last week, Democratic lawmakers from across the country said they were concerned about the health risks posed by Dow’s Enlist Duo herbicide ... When the EPA approved Enlist Duo in 2014, the agency tossed aside evidence of kidney lesions in lab rats that Dow’s own scientists said were caused by 2,4-D, clearing the way for children to be exposed to levels considered for decades to be unsafe ... “‘We were concerned to learn that, during this process, EPA dismissed a key study linking 2,4-D to kidney abnormalities based on one scientist’s analysis, and in doing so, effectively gave the green light for 41 times more of the chemical to enter the America diet than was previously allowed,’ the lawmakers wrote.” Crazy enough, the EPA claims 2,4-D is “so safe that nobody would be harmed even if every corn and soybean farmer in America sprayed Enlist Duo.” As usual, it seems much of the “confidence” in toxins like 2,4-D comes from its longtime use, but just because something has been used for a long time does NOT mean it’s safe. 2,4-D and other herbicides of this class have been linked to a number of health problems, including immune system cancers, Parkinson’s disease, endocrine disruption and reproductive problems. Last year, the World Health Organization’s cancer research agency classified 2,4-D as “possibly carcinogenic.” So when you add a probable carcinogen (glyphosate) together with a possible carcinogen (2,4-D), what’s the likelihood, really, of that combination being safe?

USDA Inspector General to Investigate Charges of Censorship The unfortunate reality is that various industries have grown so exceedingly powerful and greedy; they pose a serious threat to human health by manipulating and censoring the science that would thwart their enterprise. The chemical industry in particular has a long history of this kind of behavior. Many if not most of our regulatory agencies also have a history of protecting industry interests over public and environmental health. In the first week of November 2015, Jonathan Lundgren, who spent the last 11 years working as an entomologist at the USDA, filed a whistleblower complaint against the agency, claiming he’d been harassed and retaliated against after speaking about research showing that neonicotinoids had adverse effects on bees. (http://bit.ly/1QC17zZ) In the U.S., nearly all corn, about 90 percent of canola, and approximately half of all soybeans are treated with neonicotinoids. And, as the use of these pesticides has gone up, bee and Monarch butterfly populations have plummeted. After publicly discussing his findings, Lundgren claims: “USDA managers blocked publication

Page 19

of his research, barred him from talking to the media, and disrupted operations at the laboratory he oversaw.” According to Agri-Pulse, the Agriculture Department’s inspector general, Phyllis Fong, has now received so many complaints about harassment and censorship, she’s opening a broad investigation to assess “whether there is a systemic problem in the department.” It’s time to take organics to the next level. In this video (https://youtu.be/IwAk3B8Ai34), Ronnie Cummins, co-founder and International Director of the Organic Consumers Association (OCA) and its Mexico affiliate Via Organica, discusses the International Foundation for Organic Agriculture’s (IFOAM) initiative called Organic 3.0. In the last few decades, the organic market has grown into a multi-billion dollar market, and we’ve now come to realize that organic farming offers solutions to many pressing problems, including a number of environmental problems, such as rising CO2 levels and water shortages. It’s time to take organic farming seriously, because the alternatives are unsustainable. We simply cannot continue to poison our soil, water, air, animals, and our own bodies with toxic chemicals. As Ronnie says, “We know things now that we didn’t know 20 or 30 years ago, about the soil, about how regenerative farming practices can actually suck down a lot of the excess carbon that’s in the atmosphere.” We also understand the destructive impact of factory farming of animals, and that there’s a much better way to raise food animals, through holistic herd management. Consumers created the organic market, and consumer demand has allowed it to steadily grow. It’s imperative to keep the momentum going, as organic farming is the solution that will ultimately ensure healthy food for generations to come.

GMOs cannot be considered safe until there are valid, nonpropriatary, long-term studies of their effects on humans and the environment!

Reject Any and All Attempts to Pre-empt or Delay Vermont Labeling Law! As expected, industry-friendly politicians are hard at work trying to come up with ways to avoid mandatory GMO labeling. Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Pat Roberts has created a bill that would require the Agriculture Department to set a voluntary standard for GMO food labels, which would pre-empt state labeling laws and require the USDA to provide consumers with information describing the benefits of biotechnology! According to Roberts: “This chairman’s mark serves as a framework to find a solution for a patchwork of laws, and I will continue to work with members of the Agriculture Committee on potential amendments.” Senator Debbie Stabenow has announced she backs Roberts’ effort, saying: “I support Chairman Roberts’ urgency to address this critical issue and remain committed to working with him to find a solution that provides consumers with access to information they

URGENT! URGENT! URGENT! Call Your Senators Today! Tell Them No Compromise on GMO Labeling!

Take Action:

In order to address your message to the appropriate recipient, we need to identify where you are. Please use your full nine-digit zip for the best results on this page: http://bit.ly/1QxM8u3 On Tuesday, March 1, the U.S. Senate Committe on Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry voted 14 - 6 to send Sen. Pat Roberts’ (R-Kan.) Senate version of the DARK Act (http://1.usa.gov/1pwoO3P) to a vote on the Senate floor. Roberts’ bill, as proposed, would preempt Vermont’s GMO labeling law, and replace state mandatory labeling laws with a federal voluntary labeling plan. TAKE ACTION! Dial (888) 897-0174 to call your Senators! Then fill out the form on this page – http://bit.ly/1QxM8u3 – to email your Senators and ask them to reject S. 2609, Sen. Roberts’ DARK Act and also oppose any compromise that would block or delay Vermont’s GMO labeling law.
It’s critical that we continue to flood Senators’ phone lines—it’s now or never for GMO labeling.

Every Republican on the Senate Ag Committee voted to strip states of the right to require mandatory labeling of GMOs. Also voting for the bill

were three Democrats—Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), Sen. Amy Kobuchar (D-Minn.) and Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.). (List of committee members at http://1.usa. gov/1QKpmcW. Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.),ranking member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, voted against Roberts’ bill. But, Stabenow has told the media that she is still looking for a compromise — a signal that she will propose an amendment when the bill reaches the Senate, possibly calling for mandatory QR codes and/or a delay in the implementation of Vermont’s law, set to take effect July 1. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) and Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) also spoke up at the committee hearing to say that, while they wouldn’t vote for the DARK Act, they would support a compromise.

If Sen. Roberts can offer these six Democrats a compromise they can support, he’ll have the 60 votes he needs to block Vermont’s

GMO labeling law. Of course, that wouldn’t be a compromise, that would be capitulation. (Compromise might be the QR Codes which are not good for many reasons!!) Why wouldn’t Stabenow and others just support a federal mandatory labeling law, one that meets or exceeds Vermont’s standards? To answer that question, all we have to do is follow the money. Sen. Stabenow has taken from the biotech industry and Big Food. One of her top funders is Dow Chemical, maker of the infamous Agent Orange GMOs, engineered to survive Dow’s Enlist Duo, a custom cocktail of two deadly herbicides: Monsanto’s Roundup (a probable carcinogen) and 2,4-d, which was half the formula of the Vietnam-Warera defoliant. The combination is so dangerous that the Environmental Protection Agency has been forced to reconsider its approval. Michigan-based Kellogg’s,

notorious for hiding GMOs in its so-called “natural” foods and contributing to anti-labeling campaigns, has also funded Stabenow’s campaigns, as has Monsanto. The money trail also explains why Democrats Klobuchar, Heitkamp and Donnelly are supporting Monsanto’s “rights,” not yours. Klobuchar answers to Minnesota-based General Mills, Land O’ Lakes, Hormel, American Crystal Sugar, and the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative. Heitkamp is beholden to North Dakota’s GMO sugar beet industry. And, Donnelly gets his marching orders from donor corporations like Land O’ Lakes, whose subsidiary, Forage Genetics, partnered with Monsanto to bring us GMO alfalfa,Eli Lilly, owner of rBGH (Posilac), the genetically engineered bovine growth hormone developed by Monsanto to force dairy cows to overproduce milk, American Crystal Sugar, the number-one processor of Monsanto’s GMO sugar beets and Coca-Cola, which has spent

$14,350,000 lobbying Congress to block GMO labels over the last two years. Stabenow, Donnelly, Klobuchar and the rest of Congress need to be reminded that they’re supposed to work for us, not the corporations. If you can’t reach these Senators by phone, tweet them! Use these links to tweet these six Democrats: Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.) http://bit.ly/1Lcet6W Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) http://bit.ly/1QC4DKz Sen. smart phones and other QR readers. The code brings you to a product website that provides further details about the product. The video at http://bit.ly/1LQ505r shows you why this is not an ideal solution. There’s nothing forcing companies to declare GMOs on their website. On the contrary, GE foods are allowed to be promoted as “natural,” which further adds to the confusion. These so-called “Smart Labels” hardly improve access to information.

Instead, by making “finding the truth” time-consuming and cumbersome, food makers can be assured that most Americans will remain ignorant about the presence of GMOs in their products. Besides, everyone has a right to know what’s in the food. You shouldn’t have to own a smartphone to obtain this information. Vermont’s mandatory labeling law is scheduled to go into effect July 1. Now Monsanto is going with the only strategy it has left to block it — a Senate version of H.R.1599, also referred to as the DARK Act (Denying Americans the Right to Know). Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan) is introducing a bill that would preempt Vermont’s GMO labeling law, and replace state mandatory labeling laws with a federal voluntary labeling plan. Senate Democrats will likely try to amend this bill with unacceptable compromises, in order to ram it

There is still a lot of work to do to get to a bill that can get the broad bipartisan support needed to pass the U.S. Senate.” This bill is completely unacceptable, and must be stopped. As must any amendments to the bill. I urge you to contact your Senators today, and tell them NOT to compromise on GMO labelling! As noted by OCA: “As proposed, Roberts’ bill would preempt Vermont’s GMO labelling law, and replace state mandatory labelling laws with a federal voluntary labelling plan.... Senate Democrats will likely try to amend the bill with unacceptable compromises, in order to ram it through the Senate before Vermont’s law is set to take effect on July 1.” TAKE ACTION TODAY! by Foster Gamble n June of 2015, a well-respected Florida health practitioner, Dr. Jeffrey Bradstreet, went missing and was then discovered floating face down in a North Carolina river, a bullet hole in his chest. Foul play? Why would anyone order a hit on a generous family man who was just trying to do good? The death is still shrouded in mystery. Authorities almost immediately ruled his death a suicide, but his family says otherwise. Who shoots themselves in the chest to commit suicide, while positioned in just such a way that they will fall into a river?

So let’s unpack the back story.

Dr. Bradstreet’s own son was brain damaged following an MMR vaccine at 12 months of age. The experience helped convince the doctor to look into a link between the vaccine and autism. He was working on two leading edge areas of medical inquiry. First, he was doing research that seemed to support the compelling notion that certain vaccines could induce autism. He ended up testifying twice about this before Congress. Second, he was working with a new compound out of Switzerland that was greatly relieving, if not outright curing, cancer and other diseases. With vaccine revenues over $25 billion and cancer drugs over $100 billion, pharmaceutical industries risk losing huge profits if research like Bradstreet’s continued positively and reached a wide audience. In fact, it could spell the end of numerous mega corporations.

Was there any evidence to document a financial motive?

Yes, just three days before his death, Bradstreet’s research facility had been raided by U.S. government agents to shut down his research and halt his treatment of patients. The warrant that describes the items to be seized indicates a motive to protect pharmaceutical dominance and suppress natural cures. OK, but such an isolated incident doesn’t mean there’s a major conspiracy to suppress cures and eliminate holistic doctors. Maybe he was depressed, or cheating, or got in with the wrong crowd…

July 19th Dr. Ron Schwartz found murdered by a gunshot wound to the chest in his home on the East Coast of Florida. July 21st Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez July 21st Dr. Abdul-Karim, holistic dentist. Found dead on the side of the road at 10pm EST. July 23rd Dr. Jeffery Whiteside is found dead in Door County with a .22 caliber close to his body. August 14 th Osteopath Dr. Mary Rene Bovier, found stabbed in her home in Sharon, Pennsylvania. September 16th Dr. Mitch Gaynor is found dead outside his country home outside of Manhattan where he practiced. The local sheriff quickly calls it a suicide. October 11th Dr. Marie Paas is found dead of an alleged suicide. October 29th Dr. Jerome Block “jumped” to his death from the Central Park West Apartments.

And what did they have in common besides being “holistic?”

Almost all of them were operating in ways that undermined traditional pharmaceutical-based treatments. I can understand the risk of exposing that certain vaccines seem to be causing autism, but what is this cancer treatment they were working with? It’s called GcMAF. It stands for Globulin component Macrophage Activating Factor and it’s a human protein that the body makes naturally, but that some people lack in part or entirely. In this video, you can see the GcMAF activating the body’s own macropohages, which can then attack and destroy breast cancer cells in vitro: VIDEO: www.youtube.com/ watch?v=D1WZrnCcH24 “GcMAF and/or oral Colostrum MAF macrophage activation therapy is indicated in the treatment of any diseases where there is immune dysfunction or where the immune system is compromised,” explains the website of a clinic out of Japan that sells an oral form of GcMAF.

Here’s a diagram of how GcMAF works:

Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez

Indeed, but what if I told you there was another holistic doctor, Dr. Nicholas J. Gonzalez, known for helping actress Suzanne Sommers overcome her cancer, who died unexpectedly just a month later. Gonzalez had been in excellent health and his sudden collapse was apparently “cardiac related,” but a subsequent autopsy showed no evidence of this.

Ar e you claiming these deaths are in fact part of some kind of CONSPIRACY?

All right, two could still be coincidence. What was he working on?

Dr. Gonzalez focused a lot on holistic alternatives to radiation and on exposing the dangers and destructive history of the more than 100 chemotherapy drugs, revealing that they were developed from poisonous nerve gas. There is an interview filmed shortly before his death where he emphasizes the importance of patients believing in whatever treatment they choose. But, we don’t know what really happened with either of these two doctors. That’s pretty thin evidence claiming any sort of campaign against holistic doctors. And, if there were three? How about five, or eight, or ten? The tragic reality is that there have been at least thirteen holistic doctors who have “turned up dead or missing” in just a few months. Here is a time line of recent suspicious doctor deaths: June 19th Dr. Jeffrey Bradstreet June 21st Dr. Bruce Hedendal and Dr. Baron Holt found dead on the East coast of Florida. Dr. Hedendal died in his car and Dr. Holt’s cause of death has yet to be officially determined. June 29th Dr. Theresa Sievers found murdered in her home. Dr. Jeffrey Whiteside goes missing. Reports say he just “walked away.” July 3rd Dr. Patrick Fitzpatrick, MD, goes missing without a trace. His truck and trailer were found on the side of the road. July 10th Lisa Riley, Doctor of Osteopathy, found in her home with a gunshot wound to her head.

Malaria Influenza virus (flu) Herpes simplex virus (HSV) Q fever (Coxiella burnetii) Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) Chicken pox (varicella zoster virus) Psoriasis Respiratory tract infections Ulcerative colitis Crohn’s disease Type 1 diabetes (T1DM) Insulin-dependent diabetes (IDDM) Type 1.5 diabetes • Latent autoimmune diabetes of adults (LADA) GcMAF is also showing itself to be effective for treating autism. “In a study of 1500 children with autism, 85% had high levels of viruses and a compromised immune system. All 1500 received weekly GcMAF injections and 70% of the children responded to the treatment with reduced symptoms and another 15% made full recoveries. The other 15% did not respond. It was stated that the reduction of autistic symptoms is permanent provided that GcMAF has been taken long enough for the body to produce its own GcMAF which typically takes 24 weeks.” I personally know individuals who have been dramatically helped by taking GcMAF. Marco Ruggerio delivered a paper at the AutismOne conference in May of 2015—just before these murders started. Over the summer, patients who were using it had their supplies cut off from their original source in Switzerland where the company was being harassed and threatened. Subsequent shipments from another country were intercepted at the U.S. border, though eventually allowed through. Authorities in the UK have also been confiscating this beneficial compound. There is the documentation for a patent involving GcMAF, held by Japanese researcher, Nobuto Yamamoto. Dr. Robert O. Young, holistic practitioner and author of the pH Miracles books, now says he is wearing a body camera. Others have hired bodyguards. Some continue with business as usual. Some have stopped recommending GcMAF to patients out of fear for their lives. This, of course, is most likely the secondary reason for assassinations of holistic doctors—to intimidate others into stopping their alternative practices, their purchase of natural remedies and their speaking out against the traditional cancer sickness industry that banks on the continuing wave of new cases. It is a sad irony of our current upsidedown Orwellian police state that some of the families of the victims have tried, without success, to get the FBI to do deeper investigations.

What is this GcMAF useful for?

Besides cancer, the conditions listed as appropriate candidates for benefit from GcMAF treatment include: Autoimmune diseases Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Hepatitis B virus (HBV) Herpes Simplex virus (HSV) Cystitis Hepatitis C virus (HCV) Multiple sclerosis (MS) Urinary tract infection (UTI) Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) Endometriosis Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) Lyme disease (Lyme borreliosis) IgA deficiency disorder Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) Mycobacteria infections Parkinson’s disease Tuberculosis Fibromyalgia Human papillomavirus (HPV) Lupus (Systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE) HIV AIDS Dengue fever Pneumonia infection Warts caused by viral infection Norovirus

Critical thinking requires each of us to assess if there are common threads that indicate a hidden agenda behind this violence. I believe the conspiratorial aspects of this suppression go even deeper. One of the things that GcMAF does is kill a protein made by all cancer cells called nagalase, which is excreted by cancer cells to disarm the human immune system. Nagalase causes immunodeficiency. It seems that most of the doctors who recently died mysterious deaths were connected to treatment practices that employed GcMAF to defeat the effects of nagalase and successfully boost the immune system’s ability to fight certain diseases. Here is a video (www.youtube.com/ watch?v=D1WZrnCcH24) that suggests that nagalase is intentionally put into vaccines to weaken the immune system. Dr. Bradstreet found that autistic children tended to have a highly elevated level of nagalase in their blood. He claimed to have tested over 400 autistic children for the viral marker nagalase, and found that close to 80% of them had significantly elevated levels. This would make sense as part of a dumbing down and depopulation agenda as described in THRIVE (at 1:33:55). Bradstreet treated 1,100 patients with GcMAF, with an 85% response rate. As contrary as it is to how they are promoted, vaccines have been proven to be an ideal mode of transmission for covert purposes, including spreading clandestine sterilization and fatal

illness. The World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control have been caught over 30 times covertly attempting Foster Gamble to sterilize the birth age girls and women of various populations in Africa, Mexico, South America and the Philippines. Recently in the Mexican town of La Pimienta, 53 children were vaccinated for tuberculosis, rotavirus and hepatitis B—the same strains targeted by U.S. vaccines for children. 75% of the town’s children ended up in the hospital or dead. There has been virtually no mainstream media coverage of either the success of GcMAF, its suppression or the death of all these practitioners. Why not? In my experience, lack of mainstream media coverage is a common sign of a larger hidden and suppressive agenda.

Maybe the mainstream media reporters are simply unaware of what’s going on?

I’m sorry to say this is not the case. Erin Elizabeth, the primary health blogger tying these deaths together repeatedly and specifically appealed to Time magazine to interview her and to investigate and cover these stories. Time had been sniffing around for an interview on the holistic doctor deaths. Family members told Erin and she wrote Time saying they were in mourning, but that she could do an interview, as she had been covering the story for months. They received her request, but would not respond to her communications. In THRIVE, we covered the suppression of treatments and cures developed by Royal Rife, Rene Caisse, Harry Hoxey, and Max Gerson. We unfortunately see the same pattern continuing, not only with these holistic practitioners, but with others in our Solutions Hub Network who are being harassed, threatened, covertly radiated with ELF waves and who have had attempts on their lives. Another potentially related horrific event was the “Aquarust” amphetamine poisoning of 29 alternative medicine practitioners at a health conference in September near Hamburg, Germany. Fifteen ambulances took the afflicted to nearby hospitals. None died. I don’t have the definitive proof that all of the doctors who’ve died suspiciously were murdered in an organized plot. But I have no doubts, after decades of research, that there are those who would protect their profits and control “at any cost”. One of my personal goals is to help expose these sociopathic criminals and obsolete their agenda. I hope that this summary will help shine the light on the numerous tragic suppressions of the brilliant innovators trying to bring vibrant health, safe and cheap energy, whole foods and clean water to the world. Part of how we can help them is to take their stories and concerns seriously.

WHAT TO DO?

Spread the word. Education is the foundation of any effective action. Dare to bring up these challenging topics. Be sensitive to timing and setting. Use questions that join participants in a quest for truth rather than trying to force information and perspective on those who are not yet exposed to this sad reality, or who are not ready to consider it. Use alternative media, but also use any leverage with more mainstream outlets to get them to at least raise questions about these incidents of suppression and to put an investigative reporter on them. If you have the resources, donate to help victim’s families and to pay for private investigators to go after the truth. (contact Erin Elizabeth at Health Nut News.) You can also donate to the Indigenous Health Care Practitioners Organization (IHCPO), a Native American group that certifies over 200 practitioners under native sovereignty to practice alternatively without limitation by the FDA and AMA.

The truth will have its day, and health will have its way. www.thrivemovement.com/who-killinghealers-and-why.blog Printed with permission.

LOCAL FOOD REVOLUTION!

by Kimberly Hartke ou’ve decided to go fresh and local with your diet, but don’t know where to start. Here is an idea for you! Join your local chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF). With 2000 members and 45 chapters in California, this nutrition education and activist group will guide you along as you start down the real food path. Each local WAPF chapter is led by a volunteer, whose role is to introduce the community to local farms, farmers’ markets, and nearby purveyors of unprocessed, natural foods with no additives or chemical preservatives. The chapter leaders often organize meetings or potlucks to bring people together to meet new people. They often offer workshops or lectures which are a great opportunity to learn about whole food nutrition and discover new recipes, even meet local farmers. Doug Miller-Fleig is the chapter leader for San Francisco. He says a thriving online community (Yahoo Group WAPF-SF) is a great resource for San Franciscan’s interested in holistic health and wellness. He is a body work specialist and Qi Gong teacher and holds occasional educational events. The nearby Marin chapter holds monthly events providing opportunities to meet

farmers, ranchers and artisan food producers. Clarissa Clark is the volunteer leader of the San Jose/South Bay chapter and her chapter is also active online (Yahoo Group WAPF South Bay) and holds occasional cooking activities and

farm picnics. The Weston A. Price Foundation was founded by Sally Fallon Morell, a California mom in 1999. Today, its members circle the globe, and are very influential in bringing traditional whole foods back into vogue. Organic fruits and vegetables, grass-fed meats, wild caught fish, free range chickens are gaining in popularity, as more people are connecting with their local farmers, ranchers and fisherman. The Foundation membership includes a subscription to a quarterly journal, Wise Traditions for Food, Farming and the Healing Arts. The journal is rich with vital science, nutrition and holistic health wisdom. The International Wise Traditions Conference draws 1500 attendees from around the world each year. Always held the second weekend in November, in 2018 Wise Traditions conference and its natural health exhibits will come back to the West Coast. Kimberly Hartke is the publicist for Weston A. Price Foundation. Find a chapter near you on westonaprice.org.

Alleviate Anxiety Attacks

My client Tom, a professional salesman and father of two, was driving over highway 17 when it happened: tingling in his hands, his heart pounding like mad and his chest feeling so tight, he was gasping for air. Panic stricken, he pulled over, and dialed 911. Surely he was about to have a heart attack! However, after a thorough medical checkup, no physical problems were revealed. His doctor said, it was probably “just stress” and that Tom needed to “relax.” Easier said than done... By the time panic attacks happen, the nervous system has become overloaded. What is normally a response to get out of hazard’s way becomes a self-reinforcing loop of anxiety. Then, just about any physical symptom can trigger a seemingly life-threatening attack. Even the fear of having another assault of terror can trigger panic. Afraid of fear, anxiety disorder can be a debilitating condition, severely limiting lifestyle and career.

How do you get out of this vicious cycle? Even though panic attacks are a physical response with real symptoms, the mind is your greatest asset in leading the cure. Effectively thoughts guide the body, even if you hardly notice them. The psyche initiates this powerful reaction, and can therefore be focused on changing it. Among the many tools available to overcome this debilitating disorder, these are key: 1. Short-circuiting the panic reaction, and being able to fire a new response in the moment. 2. Identifying the causes and reducing stress. To be continued… Karin H. To Serve Man 2.0 — Silicon Valley’s Wireless Trojan Horse

W by Nina Beety

hen Canadian schools started installing Wi-Fi in 2009, children began having alarming cardiac problems and other health issues.1 David Morrison’s daughter started experiencing severe heart problems in Portland, Oregon, so her cardiologist put her on a heart monitor. It showed that her heart was fine except when she entered her Wi-Fi’d school. 2 Teacher Anura Lawson began experiencing cardiac problems in 2014 after Los Angeles Unified School District installed Industrial-strength Wi-Fi. Students were also having problems. “The students are having nosebleeds and the main offices are refusing to do incident reports. I have had two seventh grade students bleeding out of their ears.” She received accommodation under Americans with Disability Act—a non-wireless classroom. In 2008, France removed Wi-Fi from the French National Library and other federal libraries, because librarians were getting sick3. In 2013, a committee of the Council of Europe proposed banning wireless technology from schools In Europe. In 2015, France banned Wi-Fi in nursery schools and day-care centers and restricted it in primary schools, and Taiwan banned electronics for children under 245. Lloyd’s of London excludes EMF-related damage. School insurance policies may not protect officials from liability lawsuits. In Massachusetts, prestigious Fay School is being sued for ignoring a student’s health problems and refusing to provide a wi-fi free environment6. In England, a girl hanged herself because of the health problems she suffered around wireless devices and Wi-Fi. Her school refused to accommodate her, and penalized her instead. In November, she took her life7. In a 1998 California Department of Health Services survey, 3.2% of Californians surveyed reported hypersensitivity to electromagnetic fields, and .5% reported this caused them to change jobs or remain unemployed. Since then, our EMF exposure has vastly increased8. Two researchers say that by 2017, 50% of the population will be electrosensitive based on current trends9. Network World wrote recently “Is Wi-Fi killing us slowly?”10 Santa Clara County Medical Association Bulletin articles repeatedly warn of wireless health impacts, but who’s listening?11 What’s behind the push for wireless tech in schools? In 2002, Silicon Valley execs initiated the p21 campaign to create a new market for their products. They called it 21st Century learning and went after our children. Those pushers include Apple, Dell, Google, Cisco, and even the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The pushers re-badge standard learning tools as if they had invented them (eg. Project-Based Learning) and “glue” them to wireless technology as if they were inseparable. School officials, including the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, proclaim this as revolutionary and radical retooling, but why do tech executives send their children to low tech schools such as Waldorf?12 Why did Steve Jobs limit his children’s tech use if it’s so wonderful? New Tech immerses children13. These are harmful products. Google’s Expedition Pioneer program puts cell phones next to children’s eyes and brain. Children report headaches and dizziness, which Google ignores14. Thousands of studies detail the damage from wireless radiation—DNA damage, changes to the blood, breaks in the blood-brain barrier, oxidative stress, deformed or dead sperm, deformed and/or clumping red blood cells, hormone changes, cancers and tumors, disrupted cognition—memory, concentration, mood disorders, and addiction. Damon Knight’s 1950 sci-fi tale “To Serve Man” could be written about the powerful telecom and wireless industry which sees our children as targets for consumption. “We are getting reports of headaches and cardiac issues from across the country. The time to act is now,” says a spokesperson for the National Association for Children and Safe Technology (NACST). When school and agency officials say there’s no harm, or effects are unknown, they are either misinformed or lying, as is the case of MPUSD and Pacific Grove Unified School District officials.

For several years, they have received documentation on the extensive harm, but they have not paused wireless deployment. MPUSD refused to send staff to the Santa Clara County symposium last year on wireless health dangers, but spends thousands on wireless promotion events. And on February 29, the MPUSD school board approved a plan for at-school and at-home wireless technology for Seaside High School and Seaside Middle School students and becoming part of the Napa-based New Tech franchise.

Mark Gibbs in Network World asks:

Will we look back (sadly) in fifty or a hundred years and marvel at how Wi-Fi and cellphones were responsible for the biggest health crisis in human history?15 He echoes the warning of international scientists. Schools are promoting a substance already classified as a possible carcinogen. There is no informed consent by parents or children. Children are at risk for developing neurological diseases, cancer, tumors, and infertility as a result of school district policies. Despite the evidence from thousands of studies, we are following the same path as with smoking and asbestos: waiting, while children become ill or die. Stop pushing hazardous wireless technology on children. Remove it from our schools. Wireless technology is not a moral imperative. Health is. Permaculture Design Certificate April to September 2016 Permaculture is an ethically based wholesystems design approach that uses concepts, principles, and methods derived from ecosystems, indigenous peoples, and other time-tested systems to create human settlements and institutions. It’s also been called “saving the planet while throwing a better party.” Our course includes the internationally recognized 72-hour curriculum, augmented by an additional 38-hours of hands on practice and field trips. Plus, folks have the option to camp on site each weekend, and build community around the fire!

Placemaking is as much about psychological ownership and reclamation of space as it is about physically building a place. In a context of isolation, placemaking is a reminder that we still share common interests and the power to manifest them. Great places are produced by the people who use them; the community is the expert while professionals are respected as resources. Our intensive course includes 5 hours of presentation, discussion and hands on activities focused on sharing best practices for community development, urban permaculture, and public placemaking. Additionally, this program will support the development of a regional Village Building Convergence organizers group. Our special guest this year is Tommie Starchild, respected Witchcraft Elder and Conjure Worker. This year, the event is focused on the enduring lure and potency of fire as a transmitter of spiritual truth, mystical revelation and magical power. This sacred force has lit the hallowed halls of ancient temples, called tribes to sacred story telling, and conjured magic to the witch’s candle. Conjure Craft will honor the power of fire with sacred song, empowering ritual, enlightening information and experiential practice in the areas of shamanism, spiritual healing, seership, root-work and witchery. This unique and not-to-be-missed event will be held at Serpent’s Kiss,

a magical destination for folks from miles around, known for its unique and handcrafted wares, as well as a community gathering space for magical workers and cultural creatives. Serpent’s Kiss is located at 2015 North Pacific Avenue in Santa Cruz, CA, just

Conjure Craft is a partnership between Susan Diamond- respected psychic, root-worker, shamanic healer and owner of the Serpent’s Kiss Bookstore; and Orion Foxwood – multipublished and internationally noted author, elder in traditional witchcraft, faery seer and root-worker. There will be workshops, rituals, and hands-on

training in creating, working and reading the magical candle, the lore and legacy of the magical flame, the fire in the witchblood, tapping the wild force in nature (the fire of life), arousing the inner fire of passion and spirit, and much more. On Monday, we will host a special whale-watching experience and will be taking our Conjuring Crew out to the waters to experience the fire of water that sparks in the life force throughout the holism of the ocean. This will be a “Communion of Living Light” between humanity and the Life of the Sea. -Orion Foxwood is known for his teachings and books on traditional second sight, folkloric Faery practices, Witchcraft, and Southern Conjure. www. orionfoxwood.com, www.twohoodoos.com. -Susan Diamond is local owner/operator of Serpent’s Kiss Magic Shop and Crossroads Community Space which support and supply the many spiritual traditions of Santa Cruz. To Build A Square or Round Home?

health and freedom. By looking beyond the grid, seemingly insurmountable obstacles can easily be overcome with just a bit of effort focused on our families and future. The biggest obstacle is our pre programmed perspective that has us continuously distracted and tangled in tradition, red tape and regulation. Square structures have not caught up to the newest technology and sensible methods of using energy, water and food - without creating waste. Geodesic domes are far superior in strength, sensibility, and sustainability. The circular environment is conducive to free air and energy flow. We believe a new type of freedom is emerging that is based on self dependence and the ability to truly control our destiny. It really is not complicated or time consuming to build a beautiful home and provide food and security for one’s family. A free society inside a box system is a fantasy. The state of the world’s affairs and the health of earth’s real systems shows how well this square civilization has worked out. A new type of progress is at hand - one that centers on the daily growth of our connection and commitment to a strong round community where all members support each other. See how we are taking action today by visiting future at FutureOfTheFree. com and e-mail us at connect@futureofthefree.com.

by Aaron Carvajal s we prepare to build our first proof of concept dome homes, the differences of a square and round building become very significant. Nearly every part of the box structure is attached to entrenched interests, regulations, monthly bills, and draining maintenance and repair schedules. The characteristics of the square design mirror the mechanism of the grid which they are part. The dome home is specifically designed to be liberating at every step - from building and maintenance to daily freedom to live. The significance of building a round dome structure goes much deeper than superiority of strength, utility, and sustainability. A dome design contrasts sharply with the underpinnings of control that are cemented within the very foundations of the grid box structures we currently contain ourselves within. The open source geodesic dome home is designed to overcome the hooks and anchors inherent in a the grid system. You have the typical 30 year enslavement to the lending banks and insurance companies of every sort, utility bills and then many more bills. Dealing with all this will make you feel like you are trapped in a box. Based on nature’s structural engineering, a dome’s members all support each other, and thus architects confirm it is the strongest structure known to man. The dome home can be portable or permanent and easily built by anyone from materials found everywhere. By design, repair is easy and replacement parts readily available and inexpensive. The triangle panels are magnetic and easily rearranged, removable and replaceable. The same is true of the portable solar system, plumbing system, and the closed loop water capture and compost systems. No heavy equipment or tools are needed to repair or maintain the dome. LAILI RESTAURANT in Downtown Santa Cruz

What a truly outstanding restaurant in every way: aesthetics, delicious food, friendly and very caring Staff—everything is top notch! And, not only is the food delicious, it is artfully presented AND it is healthy!! They have organic options, consciously raised animals for meats, lots of veggie options, too. I am vegetarian, my two teenagers are vegans, my husband is a carnivore, however, only healthful meats (as Laili so consciously offers! Thank you, Laili!). We first discovered Laili through the Connection Magazine. We thank this magazine and so appreciate it; it is one-ofa-kind because it tells us positive, healthy things to know for our lives and ways to live. AND, it is the only one to tell the truth about what is going on in our country and the world. Thanks Connection!! We came over to Santa Cruz to stay for a quick holiday. Connection Magazines were in the lobby of the hotel in SC where we stayed. We picked it up, and now, of course, the rest is history. We live over the hill in San Mateo and we now see that this excellent magazine is over on this side of the hill; we read it and go to everything in it, including coming over to eat at LAILI

THUMBNAIL MOVIE REVIEWS

E

Hail Ceasar!

With George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, Josh Brolin, Tilda Swinton Entertainment: 3 Message: 3.5 While disjointed and uneven, this comedy drama set in the 1950s, written and directed by the four-time Oscarwinning Coen Brothers (No Country for Old Men, Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou?), also has uproarious moments, old Hollywood nostalgia and double entendres on politics and religion, with unconventional humor throughout, just not enough of it. Far more drama than comedy, the mélange of enjoyable performances center on a day-in-thelife of studio “fixer,” played brilliantly by Josh Brolin. A densely populated starstudded cast includes a wondrous and goofy George Clooney, and a charming Channing Tatum dance tribute to Gene Kelly, but favorites such as Scarlett Johansson only got to shine for brief moments, albeit glorious ones. There’s a lot to take in, and since the many subplots are hard to track, it may be best to surrender logic (you can make sense of it later), and simply let this momentto-moment spoof wash over you. It’s really a love letter to early Hollywood movie-era glam (1 hr 45 min).

The Big Short

With Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Brad Pitt, Marisa Tomei, Ryan Gosling Entertainment: 4 Message: 4 Want to learn more about the housing and stock market crash of 2008, while being wildly entertained? Here is your opportunity. This intelligent comedy is based on Michael Lewis’ best-seller The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine. Great acting throughout, Steve Carell as Mark Baum, a short tempered money manager with moral backbone, and Christian Bale, playing Michael Burry, a brilliant albeit eccentric hedge fund manager. Both provide stellar performances, leading to Golden Globe nominations. Watching this genius creation more than once may be a good idea. There is so much information, and while there are plenty creative teaching demos and hilarious celebrity cameo illustrations, the complexity is mind boggling (2 hrs 10 min).

With Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega Entertainment: 4 Message: 3.5 Couldn’t imagine a better continuation of the Star Wars Saga! Two sequels and three prequels later, this well-crafted installment by J. J. Abrams picks up the main threads of the original 1977 George Lucas creation. After 38 years, seeing Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca and the rest of the gang again, along with various droids and dark characters, feels almost like “family reunion” (depending on how many wookiees are in your tribe). In addition, the new crew brings great acting chops and fresh energy to the mix. While special effects are stellar, heart, vision and meaning bring dimensionality to this film, reviving the franchise and providing excitement. As in previous episodes, we could do without all the shooting, but hey, it is Star WARS. If you are a fan, you will likely love this epic creation, soon to be legendary movie history (2 hrs 16 min).

hind-the-scenes look at reporting in conflict zones. It plays as a mélange of dark humor interspersed with messages reminding us of the absurdity of war—a tough sell, but this farce does manage to deliver some good laughs, mainly owing to the talented Tina Fey. Her character starts out as a rookie field reporter in 2003. How absurd that she would even sign up, given her lack of experience, so of course she struggles to fit in, to survive, to do her job (gain influence to get stories) and find her journalistic groove. The humor is juxtaposed a tribal culture that is so far removed from western ways, but it is the short attention span of the American people that may have inspired the title (military-speak for WTF), which doesn’t quite add up either (1 hr 51 min).

Zootopia

Voices of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, Tommy Chong, J.K. Simmons Entertainment: 4 Message: 4 This Disney animated “blockbuster” is the first in a series of releases in 2016 that promises to deliver all kinds of kid fun with adult overtones. Visually stunning and imaginative, brilliantly funny, there are important messages here about tolerance and diversity, friendship and teamwork, following your dreams and sticking to your principles, all laid on thick, but with a certain heavy-handed charm. Disney is not known for subtlety. Anthropomorphic animals help break down human barriers and teach us to be better human beings (1 hr 48 min).

REBIRTH!

by Candace Stuart-Findlay pring is evident around us! In our annual cycle of Life, this is the moment when we feel the energy of rebirth. Do you feel it…so full of promise and new beginnings? What if we collectively focused upon the expansion of Joy/Love? What consciousness shifts/rebirth would we initiate, both internally and externally? Here’s a nifty analogy to better explain the importance of our individual ownership of all that we experience. Imagine that you are one of those old-time movie theatre projectors with the big movie reels cycling in and out. Your heart chakra transmits the brightly beaming light onto the movie screen. (Think quantum field.) Instead of the top reel feeding down to the bottom reel, the bottom reel (Belly Brain/Sacral Chakra) is feeding the top reel with the flavor and emphasis of your movie/life experiences to the top reel (Brain Antenna). It is the Belly Brain that controls

the Brain Antenna dial, so if we are pulling in predominantly fear/anger frequenCandace cies into the Stuart-Findlay Belly Brain (Remember the Belly Brain has 100 million neurons, etc.), it adjusts the Antenna to download into the Pineal gland isolating, selfdiminishing frequency thoughts and imagery. And then, the heart projects them onto our movie screen. Viewing the movie screen/external experiences, we think that this is our reality. But, it’s not! It is merely a “film sequence” running through our projector, looping around and around. So, in honor of Spring and re-

THE

SHIFT!

birth, shall we change out our fear/ anger “movie reels” and load into our projector-selves the Joy/Love reels? Let’s feel the Joy/Love streaming into our Belly Brains…flowing up to our Brain Antennas, it automatically fills our head with joyful/loving thoughts and imagery…beaming out of our hearts into the quantum field, our movie/life experiences become filled with compassion, unity, love, and joy! We are all One. When I embrace Joy/Love, it ripples through all Consciousness, the same way it does when you choose Joy/Love. And…thus WE create the Shift! How powerful we collectively are when we individually shift our focus from fear to Love…from anger to Joy! Together WE create the Shift! I invite you to share your experiences with our readers, please reach out to me through my web site. Candace Stuart-Findlay is an Author, Speaker, Now Thought Educator & Transformation Facilitator. Cannabis: Israel's Next Big Medical Export?

by Brian Walker and Oren Liebermann s 'kosher' cannabis Israel's next big export? Israel's fastgrowing cannabis industry has high hopes for a new market— exports of medical marijuana to America. The country is already a leading supplier of pharmaceuticals to the U.S. Now its government, scientists and companies are working together to turn the once illicit drug into a booming new medical business. With conservative Rabbis giving the okay for medical marijuana use, and the government adopting a relaxed stance, investment in cannabis production has exploded. The industry is being pushed by Israel's Ministry of Health, which is trying to take the morality out of weed. "I'm not sure that my people, my voters are so [happy] about what I did," Health Minister and ultraorthodox Rabbi Yaakov Litzman told CNN. "If I have to look strictly at how I can help sick people who need this cannabis, I think I did the right thing." The number of people in Israel being treated with cannabis has soared from a few dozen 10 years ago to about

23,000 in 2015. Cannabis producers expect that growth to continue. "It could be a business of hundreds of millions of dollars to Israel,"

predicts Aharon Lutzky, CEO of medical cannabis supplier Tikun Olam. That's still tiny compared to the size of the U.S. market for legal cannabis, which could be worth $22 billion by the end of the decade, according to industry data analysts New Frontier.

RELATED: 8 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT LEGAL POT

Israel allows companies to export their knowledge, but not marijuana or its extracts, although Lutzky and others expect the law will be changed soon to allow shipments. Tikun Olam, which means "Healing the World" in Hebrew, is hoping to capitalize on its know how overseas by getting patents on its best strains, and by entering joint ventures with other firms. It has already established greenhouses in Canada with MedReleaf, and says it has three agreements for similar investments in the U.S. The company claims to have developed a cannabis strain with the highest level of THC ever grown. THC is the chemical responsible for the drug's high—it's also good for relieving severe pain.

RELATED: WOMEN CASH IN ON THE MARIJUANA BOOM

Another plant the company has developed has virtually none of the psychoactive chemical but the highest CBD level currently in cultivation. CBD is a cannabinoid that may have a number of medical benefits. That could open up new markets for children, or professionals who need treatment but can't spend the day in a mental haze. Tikun Olam is also trying to produce personalized therapies. "The real thing holding back the industry is the problem of how to make a standardized level of product from a plant where so many factors are based in nature," said Scott Levenson, COO of Tikun Olam. To help maintain standards, the company's labs and greenhouses are strictly controlled to make sure there is no cross-pollination. Levels of cannabinoids are measured precisely and plants are bar-coded and tracked closely from planting to harvest.

RELATED: TAKE A WEED BREAK AT WORK. IT'S ALLOWED!

Cannabis is not considered a restricted food in Judaism, therefore it does not carry a kosher certification. The Jewish religion permits ingestion of anything natural that helps people stay healthy, and medical cannabis has been accepted even by religious conservatives. But it has its critics in Israel, and regulations make cannabis research difficult. Still, experts say the country is well placed to exploit the potential of medical marijuana, partly because of tighter controls on the

industry in the U.S. "Israel is right on the cusp of being able to grab hold of this entire industry and become the real mecca for marijuana research," says Suzanne Sisley, physician, Internal Medicine/Psychiatry at the Arizona Telemedicine Program.
