EDITOR’S LETTER If you asked me a year ago if I thought this is what Celebrate Weddings would look like today I probably would’ve been hesitant to say yes. Featuring *the* dress designer who custom-made Simone Biles’ wedding dress, not to mention Jennifer Lopez’s looks from the movie Shotgun Wedding, was a total pinch-me moment. I’m talking about Galia Lahav, by the way. In my memories, I remember flipping through the iconic pages of Vogue, Elle, GET THE JUICY FOLLOW ALONG WITH US

Cosmopolitan, and so many other magazines that published such glamorous, elegant, refined content. It was always a mystery to me, how they put it all together, what went into it, and, more importantly, how they decided what made the cover. Clearly, I’ve been enthralled by the world of fashion for quite some time now. More so, magazines

Editor’s Picks EMERGENCY KIT

NIPSEY DAISY | BODY TAPE Okay, we’ve all been there where we need nipple covers, and it is not easy to find tape (or double-sided tape) that actually sticks. This tape is designed to actually stick and stay on. No more peeling or lifting up. I even LOVE that it’s a roll so you can cut as much off as you want, so size is no longer an issue. 😉

WINEAWAY | STAIN REMOVER

I won’t leave the house without making sure I have Wine Away in my purse. It’s a total lifesaver. Along with the mini sprays to remove your red wine stains (pesky stains that they are!), the kit also includes chewable tablets to remove stains on your teeth… genius! I’m OBSESSED with the spray, though, and it’s my new go-to gift idea.

SOLEMATES | HIGH HEEL PROTECTOR I spend *too* much on shoes, especially heels, only for them to be ruined when the heel sinks into grass or mud. It’s happened so many times before, but it was when I ruined a pair of Jimmy Choos at a friend’s birthday party (didn’t know it was going to be a backyard bash) that I did a lot of research and came across Solemates. The best part, it only takes two seconds to make sure my heels aren’t compromised. 15 CELEBRATE WEDDINGS

REAL WEDDING

Haley & Henry

This wedding of Memorial Day weekend was all things fun and bright with a wildflower wedding theme. Fittingly, the color palette was martini green and beige with pops of color, like pink, orange, and yellow. The florals picked up a similar vibe with wildflowers, pink roses, white roses, and purple and yellow flowers.

Favorite Memory “First look and private vow exchange — it was the first time we got to spend time together all day. Having that bit of time to spend together before the ceremony made the ceremony feel so much easier on us both!” —Haley

Advice to Other Couples “Really try to enjoy the planning process. It gets so stressful and overwhelming, but it’s a time in your life you'll never experience again. I did a lot of grounding and meditating to help level myself out — it made the last month feel like a breeze.” —Haley

REAL WEDDING

_____ Style Inspo _____

After 2 appointments at 2 locations, Haley knew what she wanted in a wedding dress. Initially, she says, “I had no expectations going in, I wasn't sure what I'd like. I just knew I wanted to find a dress I felt like a princess in. . . . The first was essentially a trial-run determining what style of dress I liked. The second appointment was when I had an idea of what I wanted. I explained my preferences to the stylist and the first one I tried on ended up being the one! It was also the only one I tried on that made me cry — that’s how I knew it was the one for me!” That dress, that tearinducing dress was an Enzoani, style Riva. As for her bridesmaids, they picked up her martini green color in a variety of styles, and if you spotted the bridesman, you’ll notice he wore a beige suit, also picked up from the color palette. For Haley’s makeup, she went with standard bridal glam, nothing too over-the-top, but also not a natural look. As for her hair, she explains, “I knew I wanted to be able to see my earrings in shots, so I went for an updo. (The earrings were a set of pearl clusters that belonged to Henry’s late mother. After her passing, the earrings were given to her sister. I u sed the m a s my ‘something borrowed.’” And putting it up also meant I wouldn't be messing with it or running my fingers through all

day.”

WINTER | VOL. 3 20

Everything about this wedding was fun, something the couple was going for. And it didn’t help that, as the bride tells us, “having a wedding in downtown Nashville means non-stop fun!!” Look no further than the fun, heart-shaped sunglasses adorned with their initials, their flowermen, and glow sticks (read: light sabers)! But fun didn’t mean there wasn’t plenty of meaningful and sentimental details. Opting for a small personal cake for cutting and cupcakes for their guests, they selected a cake with colors that matched their florals. As for the music, well, the bride walked down the aisle to Turning Page (Instrumental) by Sleeping at Last and the couple shared a sweet first dance to Greta Van Fleet’s Light My Love.

COLORED DRESSES (BABY BLUE HUES) HOW WE GOT HERE: Your great grandmother would be shocked, but colored wedding dresses are on the road to becoming just as common as detachable elements.

FAIRYTALE BALL GOWNS HOW WE GOT HERE: The Cinderella statement, as we’ve dubbed it, is coming back in style! Ahem, the designers got the message, because the new collections have all the ball gowns you’ll need.

HOW WE GOT HERE: Silk and plain used to be synonymous with timeless and elegant. Beading and embellishments were indulgent. Over the years beading has become more typical on wedding dresses, and, now, it’s becoming more opulent and divine.

FLORAL APPLIQUÉS HOW WE GOT HERE: Flowers are a symbol for new beginnings, so what better to add to a wedding dress, then this touch of nature? Last year’s NYLBFW saw 3D florals, now we’re seeing floral appliqués.

CAPES (DETACHABLE ELEMENTS) HOW WE GOT HERE: It used to be hard enough finding one dress for the big day, and now there’s so many designs and styles to choose from, brides are selecting more than one dress. So, welcome, detachable elements.

An In-depth Look at the Expected 2024 Floral Trends WITH LAUREN BERCIER AND LAKEN SWAN OF SOMETHING BORROWED BLOOMS

With wedding planning underway for many 2024 weddings, there’s definitely a few trends we can say with confidence we’re going to see, but chief among them are some different approaches to florals then we’ve seen in the past. Namely, more sustainable choices, which could result in more floral rentals or biodegradable floral arrangements. The CoFounders of Something Borrowed Blooms, Lauren Bercier and Laken Swan are dishing on that and more, telling us that other expected trends include unique color palettes of bold color combinations, monochromatic bouquets to “create a sophisticated and cohesive look,” and an emphasis on texture, “such as soft petals, feathery foliage, and intricate blooms [to] add depth and visual interest to arrangements.” These trends are expected to bring attention to wildflowers, blossom branches and flowers with striking colors, like pink, purples, and blues, Bercier and Swan tell us. “A bold color design trend is color blocking. This is accomplished by designing floral arrangements that have like-colored florals grouped together, juxtaposed with a grouping of lighter or contrasting colored florals.” 33 CELEBRATE WEDDINGS

And in many of the same ways that striking colors will be trending, so will statement pieces, in keeping with the idea of bold floral choices. The duo explains, “We live in a highly visual society driven by social media, so the desire to make a statement is always prevalent, especially on the wedding day. Statement pieces are anything that stands out as being unique or different from the norm. This can include anything from personal flowers to table installs or photo ops.” This is very connected to the idea of high-impact florals which have been gaining popularity — they are “focal point arrangements or installs that demand attention. This is often used in key areas, like the ceremony backdrop, reception head table, and/or photo opp area.” The beauty of these high-impact, striking florals and installations is that they can be structures that are like sculptural art. “They are multidimensional and can be any shape. Sometimes they have use, like an archway at a ceremony, and others serve simply as a beautiful visual for guests to marvel over,” Bercier and Swan note.

Something Borrowed Blooms

And your options don’t just end there… “You can create a statement in so many different ways, [especially with centerpieces]. A simple yet impactful statement is by using a ton of tiny bud vases to line the tables and adding floral clippings to them. You can choose to go with one color or variety for a chic look or go for more wildflower with varying colors and flower choices. Another way to really amp up the centerpiece game is by elevating them on the guest tables. It creates a lot of interest when there are varying heights in the reception area. You can show off a grand centerpiece by setting it on top of a 3-foot stand for a very luxe look.”

he bride wore a one-of-a-kind custom Jean-Ralph Thurin gown. The bedazzled stylish design screamed luxe and incorporated her wedding vibes of modern, chic, and glamour. Keeping with the bedazzled look, she chose a hair accessory that complimented the statement of the gown perfectly. The best part? The dress was 2-in-1, going from a ball gown for the ceremony to a trumpet style fit-and-flare dress for the reception all thanks to the everpopular convertible element, the skirt overlay. For the rest of the wedding details, Bluu Ribbon Events did a magnificent job pulling it all together! The white orchid bridal bouquet and boutonnière was in keeping with the modern theme. Even the sweetheart table was draped in white orchids, along with various other white flowers to make it look abundant and full. Each reception table had a tall centerpiece with the same florals and candles to set the mood. Jose Ybarra Photography

This summer wedding was all about romantic glam and the elegance was off-the-charts. The cake was another romantic selection — red velvet cream cheese cake. The dessert paired beautifully with the chocolate fountain and gelato.

Advice to Other Couples “It's very rare to have friends & family gather in the same room, right? Take the time to admire all of your guests and appreciate the moment. The night does fly by. Laugh, cry, have fun, and try not to stress over the little things. What's important is that you & your partner have the best night of your life! “Dance like no one is watching! Take a deep breath and enjoy the planning process. That's what makes it so fun because before you know it, your big day will be here!” —Chelsea And when it comes to dress shopping, she says, “Stick to your gut when selecting a dress and keep in mind they will ALL be beautiful, but go with what your heart tells you.”

REAL WEDDING

_____ Style Inspo _____

For Chelsea, a big factor when dress shopping was her ability to move in it — it had to be flattering yet comfortable. “I love to dance and that was a big consideration when dress shopping.” The one: a stunning Sottero and Midgley gown — Barrett 2021. The dress is a modern sheath style with beaded lace. “The fit and the feel of my dress made me feel like a beautiful bride. The dress hugged me like it was made for me,” says Chelsea. As for her bridesmaids, Chelsea had a clear vision. She tells us, “For my bridesmaids I chose to go with satin. I’m a fan of satin and I almost considered getting a satin wedding dress but since I didn't, I was still able to have my girls in it. I love the color pink, so of course that was a plus! My MOH wore a different style dress and my bridesmaids matched. The sun reflecting on the dresses made them all look so stunning!” The groom and his groomsmen wore blue suits, but Samuel looked distinct with a vest and white satin tie, whereas his groomsmen went sans vest and desert rose satin ties. Emphasizing glamour, Chelsea wanted full on glam for her makeup and Hollywood waves for her wedding hair with a delicate hairpiece to complete the look.

As the bride walked down the aisle, the couple selected Shania Twain’s From This Moment On. For their reception entrance they went with a song that’s quickly becoming a classic: Forever by Chris Brown. And their first dance song was also romantic as could be: Growing Old With You by Restless Road. But it was Chelsea’s father/daughter dance (+ the groom) that became the couples’ favorite memory. Chelsea explains, “There were so many wonderful memories but the one we will never forget is the father/ daughter dance. My father and I worked hard for several weeks to come up with a fast-paced dance after our slow song. We surprised our guests with having Samuel join us for the dance! It was a nice twist to add to our dance. No one in our family knew we had the dance moves! We danced to Stayin’ Alive by Bees Gees. The guests went nuts! We really enjoyed being up there, dancing the night away.”

It’s so non-traditional!

It’s a trend…

Think about it this way… it used to be non-traditional to wear colored dresses. Now a black wedding dress is donning a wedding magazine cover.

This is not the first season of NYLBFW that we’ve seen (and fawned over) pantsuits in designers’ collections. Nor will it be the last, we’re sure.

Just because your traditional doesn’t mean you need to lose yourself. If you love pantsuits, and want to wear one on your big day, then go for it. However, if you’re still feeling uncomfortable, then how about you compromise with yourself? Stick with tradition for your ceremony and change into a beautiful pantsuit for your reception. We’ve seen brides do it before and they love dancing in it for the rest of the night. See bride Haley in this issue. And good job picking your man, he sounds like a keeper!

BESPOKE

Twigs & Honey

Every year, Celebrate Weddings comes up with one word to go into the next year with. It’s the word we turn to for every feature in the four issues that volume. Whether it be a wedding, editorial, product, or even industry topic, the word prevails and is evident in each aspect. Well, the word we have chosen for 2024 is BESPOKE, and the reason why is simple: being unique and bringing your own sparkle to your big day will never grow old. In fact, it will only inspire others to do the same. It’s the new, fun ideas that stem from the individuality that we are looking to have in the next volume of our magazine.

61 CELEBRATE WEDDINGS

The very definition of bespoke is that whatever it is is made with a specific person in mind. Nothing is more personal, than a customized item, and that’s what makes it bespoke. Look to trends and styles that you see from other weddings that you like, make a Pinterest board or two of ideas you see you want to use for your own wedding, but make it your own. Take what’s out there and put your own individual spin on it. That’s bespoke. That’s what we’re looking for.

S

triving for a romantically ethereal setting that captivates the feeling of a budding romance, this shoot, with photography by Redamancy Photo and Film and Francesca Dominique Photography, is the ultimate in fashion-forward. Drawing inspiration from the sweetness of early spring along with the coveted Tudor-style architecture of Greystone Mansion, the result was timeless yet stylish.

The attention to detail and styling was unmatched — the bride donned a classy white dress with sheer balloon sleeves. And not to take away from the trend-setting look, she wore her hair in a bun leaving tresses out to frame the sides of her face and add a flair of dramatics. As for the groom, the white suit jacket with black piping was the perfect touch — the epitome of classy.

“There is something so intimately joyful about the beginning of springtime, with it representing new life, new hope and most importantly, new love. With this session, we wanted to capture the lustful feeling of longing and sweet anticipation for couples as they prepare for their wedding day and starting their new life together as first bride and groom, and then, husband and wife,” Francesca explains. Delectable Desserts for Your Winter Wedding

T

BY CHEF SERGE KRIKORIAN, VIBRANT OCCASIONS

he crisp and cold winter air is the perfect time for romance. Candles, sparkly lights, and tasty cider are all elements that magnify the whimsical and intimate nature of a winter wedding. Winter weddings have so many hidden advantages to them. No weather worries, since most of these weddings happen inside. More available resources like venues and caterers. Travel is extra budget-friendly for you and your guests in the winter months as well. Of course, the best part of the entire season is the feasts!

Make it Cozy There are so many different kinds of dishes and drinks you could create to put the perfect winter flavor on your wedding dishes. A creamy pesto gnocchi accompanied by a sweet raspberry apple cider could make for an astonishing meal. Or a chicken pot pie casserole with a flaky crust and a cranberry mulled wine may be more to your taste. Although you could ponder about what your main course meal will consist of, dinner is only complete with the grand finale...dessert. 99 CELEBRATE WEDDINGS

An impeccable dessert is the most amazing way to end an intimate event on a sweet note. Serving a plated dessert after your dinner ensures that every guest will get something they like, and also that your guests are full before the end of the night. A salty appetizer before a savory main course definitely calls for a sugary end.

Versatility Wedding cakes have slowly been taking on versatile roles in the wedding dinner as efficiency of implementing other desserts have become more popular. Offering your guests a variety of different types of desserts will ensure everyone gets something they love. The best thing about desserts is they are going to light up your taste buds, no matter how big or small. You could decide on something simple such as white chocolate chip cookies or something classic like French croquembouche. We’ve shared a few of our chef’s favorite desserts that could be perfect for your winter wedding and sure to delight

your wedding guests.

Service Choosing a serving style should be a piece of cake. Buffet Style. This style of serving consists of having large tables lined with different kinds of desserts. It is one of the most popular displays of getting your guests their food as they serve themselves. It can be a great way to keep guests mingling and interactive. Food Stations. Food stations have slowly become very popular at weddings. This serving style includes having different tables for different kinds of desserts that you can completely customize. Ice cream sundae stations, s’mores stations or even something unique like banana foster stations could i n cl ud e m any d i ffe r e n t to p p i n gs an d adornments. This is a great way to let your guests decorate their own aestheticallypleasing dessert.

Plated and Served Style. Plated-style dining feels like one of the most luxurious ways to receive your meal at a wedding. This way consists of having each course brought to each guest by catering servers and waiters. It makes portion control, menu deciding, traffic flow, and the ambiance of an intimate winter wedding that much more personal and special. Give your guests the ability to choose from a variety of desserts and report their choices to your caterer beforehand. This type of service requires assigned seating but the extra effort is worth the results. Ensuring you have tasty desserts for your winter wedding will only make it that much more lush. Including a variety of dessert options gives your guests a much wider variety of tastes. There are endless fun, tasty, creative, and unique desserts that you could implement into your spread. There are no wrong decisions. After all, it’s impossible to have a dull dessert.

Alexa & Matt

This June wedding exuded rustic elegance, as was the intended style. The simplicity of the color palette — steel blue — paired nicely with the grey and cooler tones of the selections throughout. The rustic vibes are picked up in the naked wedding cake and the elegance is predominant throughout, but particularly among the all-white florals, a popular choice this year.

Wanting an elegant look, Alexa sought a wedding dress that would be “very fitted” and her “girls happy with whatever style they chose.” In the end, Alexa found a strapless mermaid dress from David’s Bridal that fit the bill. And her bridesmaids wore varying styles of a steel blue dress with her MOH in a unique patterned steel blue dress.

he Asbury Park Boardwalk was the perfect backdrop for this whimsical wedding in New Jersey. Known for its live music, delicious food options, and hopping nightlife, this venue highlighted the fun and colorful vibes of the wedding. With graffiti and the Asbury Park Convention Hall as the main background, you can’t help but question if it was the moment or the photo. Either way, the big day was nothing short of unique. The fashion was in keeping with the serene vibes from the stunning waterfront view, the groom opting for a blue hue that worked perfectly with the natural color palette. Meanwhile, the dress had its own sort of whimsy with its off-the-shoulder sleeves and flowing skirt. Megan & Kenneth Photography
