From the Editor Summer love is what we’d have to say the theme of this summer issue is. While every issue is about love, this one, in particular, love seemed to simply exude from every page and story when we were working on it. Weddings are certainly in full swing, and we’re still seeing weddings that were postponed due to Covid. In fact, some real weddings featured in this issue were postponed (and some even more than once!), and now they have finally happened and the couples were able to celebrate their love with family and friends. Going nationwide means bringing you more vendors across the states, which is why, as promised, we’ve featured more vendors from different states in our mission to feature one vendor from each state to celebrate this expansion with us. Like we said before, by the end of the year you’ll have learned about 50 vendors, one in each of the 50 states. Some very exciting news — we are bringing you fresh, new, creative designs for our pages. They are crisp and clean, striking and beautiful, and, of course, inspiring. As always, we are bringing you fierce, bold, and oh-so-beautiful gowns from the latest collections of Sottero & Midgley and Julie Vino, of which we have Vino’s Romanzo 2022 Collection. In addition, we are so glad to have the opportunity to feature another beautiful fairytale wedding inspiration, an elopement styled shoot that will have you swooning, and a lavender vineyard styled shoot that is so full of inspiration you may just be inspired to do the same for your own wedding. Celebrate Weddings


Eat with Your Eyes Fresh fruits and vegetables with their lively colors offer a way for caterers to make the most beautiful spreads of charcuterie, vegetable side dishes and fruity desserts. Composition can play a key role in the overall aesthetic of the dishes chosen as well. Hors d’oeuvres can be a great way to show off an artistically-designed bite, such as mini chicken and waffles with fruits accents or avocado toast topped with onion tanglers. These creations often look like tiny sculptures and will have your guests talking about them long after the wedding day.

Dinnerware choices are important for mental associations we make that after our perceptions of taste. The dining experience will immediately be elevated by using real dinnerware in lieu of disposable, for example. Research has shown food is perceived as more enjoyable and valuable when a heavier weighted piece of cutlery is used. This is a small detail that will make a big difference.

Sounds of Silence For a fully-immersed sensory dining adventure, plan what your guests will hear during dinner. If you are serving seafood, maybe you want guests to hear ocean waves to coincide with that moment. If the menu resembles fine dining, maybe you want to incorporate classical music. If you are working with a disc jockey, simply ask them to play jazzy music, a crowd-pleaser, during dinner. Alternatively, if the food portion of the wedding is more mixand-mingle style with heavy hors d’oeuvres, okay some good old-fashioned rock-n-roll to keep things lively. These details, similar to menu planning, will help to create a memorable event. Guests may forget many things about your day, but they will remember how you made them feel. Your favorite people will be in attendance at your wedding. Give them a sense of nourishment, wholeness and appreciation. Spring 2022 Issue

Bridal Shower Brunch Recipe Favorite

Labneh with Fresh Fruit & Pomegranate Molasses Courtesy of Chef Serge Krikorian Serves 6 Ingredients: 1 qt. plain yogurt 1/2 tsp. kosher salt 6 tbls. extra virgin olive oil 10 sprigs fresh thyme 1 orange: finely shave the skin to get 6 strips 1/2 pint fresh blackberries 1 pint fresh raspberries 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and halved lengthways (or quartered if they’re larger) 3 tbls. sugar 1 lime: finely zested to get 1 tsp., then juice to get 1 tbls. 1/2 pint fresh blueberries Pomegranate molasses, to taste Instructions: 1. Put the yogurt and salt into a medium bowl and mix well to combine. Line a colander with a piece of cheesecloth large enough to hang over the sides and place the colander over a bowl. Transfer the yogurt to the cheesecloth and fold over the sides to completely encase the yogurt. Place a heavy weight over the cheesecloth (a few cans or jars will do), and transfer to the fridge to drain for at least 24 hours (and up to 48). 2. Meanwhile, put the oil into a small saucepan, for which you have a lid, on medium heat. Heat gently for about 7 minutes, or until tiny air bubbles form. Remove from the heat, add the thyme and orange peels, then cover with a lid and leave to infuse, ideally overnight, though half an hour will also do the job. 3. The next day, put 1/4 of the blackberries, half the raspberries and 1/3 of the strawberries into the small bowl of a food processor along with the sugar and lime juice and blitz until completely smooth. Put all the remaining berries and the cherries into a large bowl along with the blitzed fruit and gently combine. You can serve it straight away or leave it in the fridge for a few hours, bringing it back to room temperature before serving. 4. Spread the labneh out on a large platter. Spoon over the berries, then sprinkle with the lime zest. Drizzle with 2 tbls. of the infused oil, along with a couple of the orange strips and the extra picked thyme. Drizzle all with pomegranate molasses. 5. Serve with warm pita bread or pita chips.

About Chef Serge Krikorian Chef Serge Krikorian and his wife, Mary Krikorian, started their catering business in 2002 and have been in the family restaurant business since 1994. Having catered thousands of events over the years as Dinner’s Ready Express Catering, they launched Vibrant Occasions Catering, a new name that more accurately depicts the level of food and service provided at weddings and social events. Krikorian hails from the quaint town of Benton, Arkansas. His southern hospitality paired with his penchant for developing unique fusion-style recipes, especially sauces, has garner his reputation as foodies’ fan favorite in his community and now on the YouTube space for his cooking show, Cooking with the Kriks. After years of dreaming about owning a mobile kitchen, in December 2020, Serge and Mary launched Our Mobile Kitchen with the intention of providing fresh, 5-star quality chef-prepared cuisine to patrons visiting where the mobile kitchen is parked or on-site for catered weddings and social, private or corporate events. Krikorian is an alumni of Henderson State University where he studied business and met his wife, Mary. They have three sons who often work in the business around their academic and career schedules.

This fall wedding in Oregon was postponed due to Covid but went off beautifully as it captured the simple and classic theme the couple strived for. Selecting a boutique hotel that had a classic feel as the venue made choosing a color palette obvious, picking up the emerald green from the room.


The couple chose roses, eucalyptus, and succulents. The centerpieces were gold terrariums. The bride said that Blaire at Trellis made the most beautiful arrangements, she told Blaire she wanted simple, classic and described the color palette, even sent a few inspiration photos, and Trellis just made it happen.

A dessert buffet with a small cake for cutting that was a vanilla/chocolate swirl, raspberry filling and a buttercream frosting. The rest of the desserts were single serving grab and go style and ranged from brownies, cookies, cupcakes and cake pops.

The couple agreed that it was hard to pick a single memory from the day. They decided overall it was being able to finally have their day after the COVID rollercoaster and to be able to celebrate with all of their people. They said that the love and support from everyone was truly incredible and something they will always remember.

Another Chance By Staci Dunn, The Cake Lady Custom Cakes William Edward Hickson said, “If at first you don’t succeed, try try again”. I’m not certain he was referring to marriage, but why not? Everyone deserves love. Everyone desires love; and everyone seeks love. According to Wikipedia, Glynn “Scotty” Wolfe, eighty-eight years old, is the world's most often-married man. He held the Guinness Book of World Records title on frequent marriages. He was married twenty-nine times. In our changing times the age-old covenant to love, honor and cherish in sickness and in health, until death do you part, is not exactly realistic. Divorce rates are at their highest in decades. A painful divorce or death of a spouse leaves most people feeling that it would be very difficult to fall in love again. Studies have shown that the majority of people who have gone through such things, state remarriage was not an option at first; that is, until they fell in love again. Elizabeth Taylor was married 8 times. King Henry the VIII was married 6 times, albeit he did execute Anne Boleyn which technically is not a divorce or sickness and health issue, but it does go to show that love can be found time and time again.

An anonymous writer said, “Who gives a damn about your first love? Give a big round of applause for your second (or third, or fourth) love because they taught you that love still exists after you thought it never could again.” Love with abandon, throw caution to the wind, live on the edge, and give love another chance! The third time’s the charm for this couple that postponed their wedding more than once due to Covid. In true fairytale fashion, which was the theme, they originally selected a palette that consisted of “Cinderella Blue” and blush pink, but with the first date change, they decided to change the palette to better reflect the season. Another date change put them close to the original season, but it was too late to change the colors again, so emerald green, black, white, and gold it was!


This spring wedding was originally going to use peonies, but the bride had to opt for Garden Roses to achieve the look of peonies because Mother Nature switched things up on them due to the changed wedding date.

When asked what her favorite memory was, the bride said it was “the way Anthony and I cut the cake.” They had no idea what to expect and didn’t practice this (which she now suggests every couple does). “We were struggling and wound up flinging a piece of buttercream right at me. We tried to go with the flow but the photo of the cake says it all! We will always laugh at that.”

The wedding cake was a delicious white cake with raspberry mousse filling. They even had an extensive selection of sweets, including donuts and their very own personalized mini ice cream cart!

Selecting a Honeymoon Destination It doesn’t matter if you’ve traveled the world or if you’ve barely traveled the cities in your state. Your h o n ey m o o n i s a t r i p l i ke n o o t h e r. I t ’s extraordinary, memorable, and personal. It is about you and your significant other. No one else but the two of you matter during your honeymoon. It’s such a beautiful trip. Not to mention, often the most anticipated. All of your wedding planning was worth it in the end when you and your significant other get swept away in your getaway car (or boat, train, plane). It also might be somewhere you return for a later anniversary, if you enjoyed yourselves of course. That’s why it’s so important to select a honeymoon destination that represents you and your significant other.

As you brainstorm your destination options, some factors to consider include the time of year, budget, what you both want to see, where you’d like to do, and what you want to get out of the trip (some just want to relax, others are more adventurous, it’s all up to you). To aid you in the brainstorming process, we’ve got a list of helpful questions: Do you want to go someplace with sandy beaches? Do you want to go where it’s snowing? Would you like to hit the casino? Do you like hiking and the outdoors? Are you athletic? Do you want to visit the city? Do you want to stay in the country or travel internationally? Does a relaxed pace appeal to you or do you want a faster pace? It’s also nice to learn more about the places you’re considering. You can do this by reading travel blogs or books and hiring a travel agent. Travel agents are certainly helpful. They can steer you in the right direction by informing and helping you select a honeymoon destination. Also, once you’ve decided to book your trip, they can help you do it. Often, they are more inclined to book the trip and get everything you’re looking for in your honeymoon package, because often there’s a commission in it for them from the companies you’re booking with. This boho beach chic wedding at a beautifully tropical destination was not impacted by the crispness of the fall season. In fact, leaning into it, the couple opted for neutral colors with subtle pops of pale teal and coral.


The couple had a single round tower wedding cake that was white with subtle palm leaf accents and individual cupcakes. The cake was key lime flavored with coconut frosting and the cupcakes were a mix of red velvet and key lime.

The bride had a hard time choosing flowers as she said, “I wanted something totally different from what I was finding. We wanted a mix of tropical and boho but still elegant, so I spent months drying out my own palm branches and mixed them in with a few types of pampas grass, some white and peach roses, king proteas, ginger flowers and the dwarf pineapple stems.”


As for the couple’s favorite memory, the bride said, “It’s tough, I truly loved every minute of it and we were able to spend the whole weekend with everyone so we were a little spoiled in getting to stretch our day out to 3 days of memories. What I remember most though is the rain… all day it poured and at one point was sideways raining, I thought for sure we were going to have to get married in a hotel room. Things got pretty chaotic and we were so behind on everything. Everything was drenched and I could see everyone helping to try and move things under the tent… then all of a sudden the rain stopped and I was told to hurry and get things started, I nearly forgot everything, had my bridesmaid’s husband run back to the room to get my bouquet and jewelry… finally, we started, and just as I began walking down the aisle, the clouds parted, and the sun began to shine. It was simply amazing. The birds were chirping and love was all around. Our officiant is one of our best friends, and I have to say hands down he was the star. He did such a great job and I will always remember how special I felt standing there with my Kiki!”

This mid-winter wedding was everything elevated rustic could be and more, focusing on a neutral color palette with pops of greenery throughout and merlot-colored bridesmaids dresses for dimension. Champagne during ceremony, passed appetizers before dinner, then reception in a rustic barn with a live band. No burlap, but plenty of good bourbon, giving five-star vibes while feeling at home and able to cut loose.


A blend of seasonal white flowers, tons of roses, peonies, hydrangeas, and so much more.

For the bride there were so many wonderful memories but she especially recalls when she turned the corner to walk into the barn, to walk down the aisle with her dad. “I hadn't seen the whole barn set up yet and it turned out breathtaking. So standing there with my dad, seeing all of our family and friends, seeing [my groom] at the end of the aisle...it was all I could do to hold it together!”

The wedding cake was red velvet with cream cheese frosting done in white with gold frosted flowers. The couple also had a dessert bar with assorted chocolate covered strawberries and mini key lime pies. As a special tribute to the couple they also had horse shoe covered rice crispie treats for the bride and basketball designed cake pops for the groom.

Wedding Planning 101 with Alex McClard, Owner of Vision in White Events

So you’re newly engaged and planning your big day and you’ve got lots of questions… We. Get. You. It’s a lot to navigate. Especially with so many vendors booked through the year and into next year thanks to all the Covid cancellations. To help you sort through it all, we sat down with Alex, the owner of Vision in White Events from Nashville, Tennessee who excels at what she does for some help advice and tips.

Month-of Coordination versus Day-of Coordination Regardless of the term or label used, which could also be “Wedding Management” as is used by Vision in White Events, most planners seem to offer some variation of both. Typically, it’s a package that focuses on wedding management about 6 weeks from the wedding day. According to Alex, it’s all about the planner coming in and “[getting] all [their] ducks in a row and make sure everything is good, ironed out to [their] standards before showing up to a wedding. It’s how [they] guarantee success!” Alex also notes, it’s about “[having] the time to confirm with vendors, adjust rental orders and number of centerpieces based on final guest count, create a floor plan that works, make [their] setup notes so [their] team of assistants know the plan and get the timeline all nailed down from how long hair and makeup will take, to when pictures start and what time the exit is happening. This also takes the stress off the bride the last 6 weeks before the wedding and creates a relationship between [the couple and the planner so there is trust] that [they will get] the day of [their] dreams.” This package is one of the most popular packages, and at Vision in White Events, it’s the second most popular after full planning.

Out-of-State and Destination Planning With travel having made a strong comeback, out-of-state and destination weddings have too. Many couples are planning weddings at exotic locations, or locations that have some significant meaning to them. That means finding local vendors, unless you have have your heart set on home-state vendors that travel. Although, Alex suggests finding a planner in the state where the wedding is going to be. “[That person will] know all the local vendors and can guide the process better that way. [They will] also know the cost of everything in our market which could be totally different than the market planners from another state or city are used to,” she explains. And if you think not being local to your planner is a problem, it’s not thanks to video chat services. Indeed, “if [you] are able to come into town for a long weekend, [you can] knock out all the meetings . . . back to back (tastings, picking rentals, inperson venue visit, hair and makeup trial).” And “if not, [then you’d] have to nail all of that down virtually and the hair and makeup trial could happen when [you] get into town. From there [you] just need to get [your] marriage license and [your planner will] have already confirmed all the rest for [you]!”
