Sacramento, CA - El Senado del Estado aprobó el pasado Jueves 5 de Julio, el proyecto de ley A.B 1081 (Ammiano), la Ley de Confianza de California, en una votación de 21-13. La L ey de Conf ianza crear ía un modelo nacional para contrarrestar la discriminación racial aun existente en una de la secciones de la ley anti-inmigrante de Arizona la cual el Tribunal Supremo no removió la semana pasada. Sacramento, CA – The State Senate approves Assembly Bill (AB) 1081 (Ammiano) on Thursday July 5th, California’s TRUST Act, by a vote of 21-13. The TRUST Act would create a national model to counter the racial profiling inherent in the one section of Arizona’s anti-immigrant law which the Supreme Court did not strike down last week. Section 2b of Arizona’s SB 1070 requires police to investigate immigration status based on ‘reasonable suspicion,’ while the TRUST Act would create plans to guard against racial profiling. “Today’s vote signals to the nation that California cannot afford to be another Arizona,” said Ammiano. “The bill also limits unjust and onerous detentions for deportation in local jails of community members who do not pose a threat to public safety” he added.

Desafían las Elecciones presidenciales del 2012 Mexicanas Las denuncias de fraude continúan ensombreciendo los resultados de las elecciones mexicanas Entre las denuncias de compra de votos y fraude, el sistema electoral mexicano, (IFE) confirmó a Enrique Peña Nieto como en ganador de las elecciones presidenciales de México, después de un recuento del 54% del total de votos. De acuerdo al IFE esta es la mayor reapertura de paquetes electorales y recuento de votos en toda la historia política mexicana. “78,469 paquetes para la elección de Presidente de la República, en que se volvieron a contar 45 049,356 boletas, equivalente a 54.82% de esta elección.” Más sin embargo, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, el candidato de la izquierda, así como miles de ciudadanos mexicanos siguen cuestionando los resultados del IFE. Razón por la cual miles de personas en México protestaron contra Enrique Peña Nieto, el pasado sábado 7 de junio, cerrando así la circulación del Paseo de la Reforma, una de las arterias de tráfico principales en Ciudad de México. La “Marcha contra la imposición”, del sábado, acusa a Peña Nieto por la venta de votos por vales de compras y el control de la industria de la televisión. “Es una vergüenza nacional, compraron millones de votos. Tracy implementara Tracy to implement a un nuevo programa de new annual clean-up limpieza program. Tracy, CA — La Ciudad de Tracy anuncio el 6 de Julio, 2012 que implementara un programa rediseñado de limpieza anual para los residentes de Tracy. El nuevo programa le permite a los residentes el pedir que se recoja basura colocada en la banqueta de la calle una vez al año. Este programa remplaza la limpieza anual de primavera e otoño, el cual se descontinuo hace dos años por causas del medio-ambiente y presupuesto. Los residentes que desean participar en esta opción necesitan pedirle a las oficinas de Franchise Waste Hauler de la Ciudad de Tracy, el día que les gustaría que recojan la basura. Los residentes tienen que contactar a la ciudad para que se les informe las guías de desechos para que participen en el programa. Tracy, CA - The City of Tracy announced July 6, 2012 that it will be implementing a re designed annual clean-up program for Tracy residents. The new program allows residents to schedule a free one time curbside pickup per calendar year. This program replaces the spring and fall cleanup events, discontinued two years ago because of ongoing environmental and budget concerns. Residents wishing to participate in this option are required to schedule their pickup day through the franchise waste hauler for the City of Tracy, Tracy Disposal at least a week in advance. Residents must contact the city of Tracy to understand disposal guidelines to participate in the program. Additionally, the City of Tracy offers appliance and tire disposal vouchers free of charge throughout the year with restrictions. G i n a Va l a d e z e s l a directora y fundadora de Pan de Vida (Bread of Life), u n pr og r a m a lo c a l que provee alimentos gratis en la comunidad. “Imprimí algunos folletos temprano por la mañana, los repartí por el barrio, i n f o r m a n d o a l a ge nt e que estaríamos regalando alimentos”, dice Valadez al recordar la mañana, cuando Pan de Vida inició en 2008. “La primera vez que abrimos nuestras puertas, tuvimos 60 personas fuera de nuestra iglesia.” En cuatro años Pan de de Vida pasó de servir a 60 personas a servir a 11.000 familias en el 2010. Valadez se encuentra trabajando ahora para continuar la misión de Pan de Vida en diversos lugares del Condado de San Joaquín - en Lodi, Tracy y Manteca. “Nunca me imaginé que crecerá tanto, seguimos dando y los suministros siguen llegando.” Cada tercer sábado del mes cientos y cientos de familias se alinean fuera de las puertas de la Iglesia LifeSong- la casa de Pan de la Vida, a la medianoche para recibir una canasta de alimentos a la mañana siguiente. Sin embargo, el ayudar a los que los que lo necesitan no es nada nuevo para Valadez , ella ha dedicado su tiempo a lo largo de los años para ayudar a los demás. “Empecé hace 20 años sirviendo en el Salvation Army (Ejército de Salvación), l lendo a los pa rque s a alimentar a las personas sin hogar, y en el centro de Stockton, repartiendo sándwiches a prostitutas y drogadictos.” “Se aprende a ser muy generosos, se trata de amar y ser amable, de tratar a las personas con respeto y

G i n a Va l a d e z i s t h e d irec tor a nd founder of Bread of Life — a San Joaquin County food program. “I printed some flyers early in the morning, passed them around the neighborhood letting people know that we were giving away groceries,” Valadez shared her duties during the morning when Bread of Life star ted in Stockton back in 2008. “The first time we open our doors, we had 60 people outside our church.” In a short four years Bread of Life grew from serving 60 people to an average of 11,000 families in 2010. Valadez is now continuing the mission of Bread of Life in other locations throughout the San Joaquin County - in Lodi, Tracy and Manteca. “I never imagined that it will grow this large, we just keep giving and the supplies keep coming.” Every third Saturday of the month hundreds and hundreds of families’ lineup outside the doors of Life Song Church — the homes of Bread of Life — some wait as early as midnight in order to receive a food basket the next morning. Helping and feeding the hungry is nothing new to Valadez - as she dedicates much of her time throughout the years to help others. “I
started 20 years ago serving at the Salvation Army and going to the parks feeding the homeless, and in downtown Stockton, passing out sandwiches to prostitutes and drug addicts.” She added, “You learn to be very giving; it is all about loving and being kind, treating people with respect and dignity.” Today, Va ladez hopes to fine tune the aid they provide, “I hope that we are able to continue to ser ve people, I hope to bring more resources... Employment, hou s i n g a nd e duc at ion information … I hope to see the number of people in line decrease; I don’t want to be this mega huge food pantry that will be defeat the purpose.” The growth of Bread of Life is attributed to Valadez and her team of volunteers — nearly 200 volunteers is needed on a Saturday morning to distribute the food. Bread of Life mainly helps working families that do not have enough to make end s meet, “ t he face of hunger could be your next door neighbor,” Va ladez highlighted that, “hunger is everywhere.” If you wish to donate or volunteer at Bread of Life, please call LifeSong Church at (209) 943-6604.

Estimados Amigos, saludos desde Medjugorje, donde la Virgen Maria (la Gospa, en Croacia) se reporto que se a aparecido diario desde el 24 de Junio, 1981. Llegue aquí en camión durante la noche el jueves por la mañana. Al igual que mi experiencia en Chenslohova (el relicario central del peregrinaje de Polonia, en Krakov —la antigua Capital de Polonia), y Vienna (el corazón de Europa), esta experiencia es extensa en oración y visitas a lugares de alto poder espiritual, de sanación, y de nueva vida por medio de nuestra Fe Católica. La diferencia es que, asta hace treinta años, Medjugorje fue extremadamente simple, casi escondido, en los ojos del Oeste cerca a un grupo de aldeas primitivas en piedra donde los cultivos de cosechas básicas, ganado y tabaco mantuvieron a los residentes vivos. Lo que los tubo en contacto con el mundo en general fue la historia de los imperios corrieron y ocuparon este territorio, las alianzas políticas que fueron forjadas por Tito y crearon seis republicas la nación socialista de Yugoslavia, la necesidad que muchos hombres trabajan en Austria, Alemania, o Italia, pero en su mayoría la fuerte Fe Catolica, sostenida por los Franciscanos por cigotos. Dear Friends, Greetings from Medjugorje, where the Virgin Mary (the Gospa, in Croatian) is reported to have been appearing daily since June 24th, 1981. I arrived here overnight by bus on Thursday morning. Like my experience in Chenslohova (the central pilgrimage shrine of Poland, in Krakov —Poland’s former capital), and Vienna (the very heart of Europe), this experience is an intense one of prayer and of visiting places of great spiritual power, of healing, and of new life through our Catholic Faith. The difference is that, until thirty years ago, Medjugorje was an extremely simple, nearly hidden, in Western eyes close-to-primative cluster of stone hamlets where the cultivation of basic crops, livestock, and tobacco kept the residents alive. What kept them in touch with the larger world was the history of empires that over-ran and occupied this territory, the political alliance forged by Tito in created of six republics the socialist nation of Yugoslavia, the necessity that many men work in Austria, Germany, or Italy, but most of all their rock-hard Catholic faith, sustained for centuries by the Franciscans. I came to pray. This marks the 25th anniversary of my first pilgimage to Medjugorje. That summer, 1987, I spent a full 75 days in the village. Things were so different then. A Serbian dominated socialist government was still bent on snuffing out the phenomenon, and the opposition of Mostar’s bishop (whose jurisdiction includes Medjugorje), together with the hardships for those who would visit, tested the apparitions thor-
oughly from the outside. The human imperfections of the six young visionaries and those to whom they turned for guidance and safety provided more ammunition for the opponents of the Gospa’s alleged apparitions. In spite of a rising tide of obstacles, pilgrims began flooding in. I would have joined them as early as 1983, when I walked across Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Macedonia en route to Greece and, finally, the Holy Land with the Bethlehem Peace Pilgrimage. But we were tightly supervised and prohibited from deviating from our approved itinerary. Yet in my heart, I already believed. Now, 31 years since the first day the visionaries claim the Gospa appeared to them on a barren hill, tens of thousands of pilgrims continue flooding in, and through, and back home again, inspired and deeply challenged to live their faith more fully. I know what a tremendous difference these apparitions and my many experiences in Medjugorje have made for me. I’m filled with gratitude as I return to be renewed once again in my priesthood, which received a life-saving infusion of grace when things were getting tough. If you’d like to know more about Medjugorje, simply google the word. Be prepared, however, to find a substantial amount of negative press. That way, you won’t be naive in approaching what I consider to be one of the most significant spiritual events of the past century in all of the world. That, my brothers and sisters in Christ, is why, once again, I am here.

Mi experiencia como paciente en este lugar hermoso Lincoln Square Post Acute Care Un lugar asombroso. No es lo mismo ser un paciente a un visitante. En el mes de Junio tuve la oportunidad de ser una paciente y puedo catalogar y describir este lugar como hermoso. Cuando llegue aquí para restablecerme de una operación de la rodilla, jamás lo imagine lo bien que me la iba a pasar. Al llegar aquí, el cielo, de un azul profundo estaba lleno de pequeñas nubes blancas y de sol — el principio de un hermoso día. Las calles aparecían desiertas, como era temprano, el pueblo dormía aun. Al llegar a este lugar, se respira un aire de esperanza y tranquilidad. Las habitaciones llenas de sol, amuebladas con sencillez y elegancia. Aquí yo me sentía como en mi casa. Las enfermeras trabajando como hormigas sin parar, muy competentes. La persona que dirige este lugar, se ve que tiene mucha disciplina. Como soy una persona que ama la naturaleza y sobretodo me encanta convivir con las personas y conocer nuevas amistadas a lo largo de mi vida yo he conocido otros lugares de recuperación, pero ninguno se compara con Lincoln Square. Las personas de higiene mantienen este lugar súper limpio con los pisos brillantes. Las enfermeras en ora buena, pues ella siempre con una sonrisa en los labios que te hacen sentir mejor cada día. Mi terapia, mi lugar favorito, personas muy competentes, que se preocupan porque nosotras las pacientes nos cimentamos confortables. Creo haber sido una persona muy afortunada de Dios Nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Ya que el me allá escogido este hermoso lugar al termina mi terapia. Mi agradecimiento a mis Doctores, Dr. West Y Dr. Kamboj, pues ellos contribuyeron para este exitoso proceso. Me gusta la sencillez de las personas que trabajan en este lugar. La vida es tan corta que merece uno tratar de vivirla lo mejor posible. Sé que voy a extrañar este lugar cuando ya me recupere. Yo, sinceramente recomiendo este lugar para un restablecimiento rápido.
My experience as a patient of a beautiful place called Lincoln Square Acute Care It’s an amazing place. It’s not the same being a patient or a visitor. In the month of June I had the opportunity to be a patient and I can say and describe this place as beautiful. Upon my arrival to this place following a knee operation, I never imagined how much I would enjoy it here. As I arrived the sky was blue full of small white clouds and the sun — the beginning of a beautiful day. The streets seemed to be lonely, as it was early in the morning, people continued to sleep. Upon arrival, there is an ambiance of hope and tranquility. The rooms are nice and sunny, with elegant clean cut furniture. I felt at home here. The nurses worked non-stop like little aunts, with lots of competency. One can tell that the personnel running this place have lots of discipline. As I love nature and I enjoy being among others and making new friends; throughout my life, I have gotten to know other healing places, but none can compare to Lincoln Square. The maintenance crew keeps this place super clean with all the floors super shiny. The nurses are always on time, with a smile on their face which made me feel better every day. My therapy, my favorite place, competent people, that worry about that we have a comfortable stay as patients. I believe to be a very lucky person of God Jesus Christ. He chose this beautiful place for me to have my therapy. I thank my doctors, Dr. West y Dr Kamboh, as they made this a successful procedure. I love the humbleness of the employees of this place. Life is so short so we should try to live as good as we can. I know I will miss this place upon my recovery. I sincerely recommend this place for a prompt healing.

Avivamiento, the first Christian Concert of its kind in Stockton was held at the Stockton Arena on Sunday, July 8. “Many categorized Stockton as one of the most miserable cities in the United States, there is no auto theft, crimes, “said Israel Hernandez, one of the organizers, minutes before the concert started. “We believe that if we bring an event of this magnitude so that people can see something good, the city`s spirit can be lifted.” The three hour concert was organized by the Apostolic Outreach Ministries of
Lathrop. Avivamiento featured uplifting music interlaced with powerful faith testimonies by internationally bands like Miel San Marcos from Guatemala, Ericson Alexander Molano from El Salvador and Rodrigo Silva from México- all performing for the first time in the Central Valley. “This is the first time in history with these three groups, is the first time we do something like this, what we expect from this concert is healing, we are cheering for a big “Aviamiento” (lift) of the people of God,” said Hernandez.
