WELCOME

FÀILTE

Wow, what a summer season to look forward to at An Lanntair.

Abair prògram de thachartasan a tha romhainn aig An Lanntair as t-samhradh.

Summer kicks off in style this June with some incredible live music in the auditorium, including the one and only Treacherous Orchestra, as well as The Jeremiahs and superb concert pianist Robin Colvill. This year’s Hebridean Celtic Festival in July is gearing up to be one of the very best we have ever seen. We will be opening the festival with our much-anticipated Hebridean Women concert, as well as welcoming Atlantic Blast, Skipinnish and Eddi Reader to the An Lanntair stage. And it doesn’t end there. Yes, Phil and Aly will be back this August to celebrate their 30th anniversary!

Tha sinn a’ tòiseachadh san Ògmhios le ceòl beò air leth san talla mhòr, le consairtean bhon chòmhlan iongantach Treacherous Orchestra, cho math ris The Jeremiahs agus consairt piàna bhon chluicheadair mhìorbhaileach Robin Colvill. Tha Fèis Cheilteach Innse Gall 2016 a’ tòiseachadh le Caileagan nan Eilean, is sinn an uair sin a’ cur fàilte air Atlantic Blast, Skipinnish agus Eddi Reader gu àrd-ùrlar An Lanntair. Chan e siud a-mhàin, ach gum bi Phil is Aly againn cuideachd a’ comharrachadh 30 bliadhna a’ cluich còmhla.

I am looking forward to seeing some of An Lanntair’s major projects come to fruition this summer. One of which, is our Purvai project, celebrating connections between the Outer Hebrides and South Asia. This year, we will launch the second Purvai Festival in the last week of August, with a week of festivities, from drumming workshops to yoga and South Asian food. I am particularly excited about Roopa Panesar, one of the finest female sitar players in world – you must get to this concert, it will be so very special. And of course I absolutely must mention Harris Tweed and Gaelic Psalms! On 27th August, Craig Armstrong and Calum Martin will bring the performance of their beautiful and innovative new composition with Gaelic Psalms to An Lanntair. We will also be going crazy for Tweed all summer. Ian Lawson’s stunning photographic exhibition will be in our main gallery during July and August. And we will be celebrating the past and future of this remarkable industry in our Harris Tweed Festival Day on 13th August here at An Lanntair – start the day with a Tweed Cycle Ride, and stay all day for weaving demonstrations, waulking songs, talks, film, food, music and yarns. Elly Fletcher, CEO

Tha mi a’ coimhead air adhart ri pròiseactan mòra An Lanntair is iad a’ tighinn gu buil as t-samhradh. Nam measg, tha am pròiseact Purvai, a’ comharrachadh cheanglaichean eadar na h-Eileanan agus Àisia a Deas. Tha sinn am bliadhna a’ cumail an dara Fèis Purvai aig deireadh an Lùnastail le seachdain de thachartasan bho chlasaichean drumaireachd gu yoga agus biadh Àisianach. Tha mi a’ dèanamh fiughair mhòr ris a’ chonsairt aig Roopa Panesar; tè dhe na cluicheadairean sitar as fheàrr san t-saoghal. Feumaidh sibh thighinn chun a chonsairt seo, bidh i na h-oidhche shònraichte. Bu chòir dhomh cuideachd facal a ràdh mu dheidhinn a’ Chlòtha Mhòir agus nan Salm Gàidhlig. Air 27mh Lùnastal, tha Craig Armstrong agus Calum Màrtainn a’ toirt dhuinn oidhche de cheòl àlainn, innleachdach stèidhte air na sailm Ghàidhlig. Bidh an clò mòr air ar n-aire fad an t-samhraidh. Tha taisbeanadh dhealbhan-camara bho Ian Lawson gu bhith againn sa ghailearaidh fad an Iuchair agus an Lùnastail. He resurrected the idea of maide dealbh or pattern sticks, thought to be an ancient method of recording traditional designs with exact thread and colour numbers, and extended the project into tartan designs using genetic information from his own DNA.
