The man.

The Camera.

The Legend‌.

Although he considers himself a hobbyist when it comes to photography, Randy Roach has the talent that could put him in line with great professionals. His photography tells a story whether the shot is dark and steampunk or loud and punk! The Kansas State Graduate has always had a love for taking pictures but it wasn’t his major. Mr. Roach instead one day after work decided to turn his garage into an epic studio. He has Top notch equipment and has spent thousands to perfect his passion. “I don’t go anywhere without my Nikon” says Roach; his weapon of choice. As a former model in front of his camera, i can tell you he is polite, professional and doesn’t give you the creeps like other male photographers seem to. He has worked with hundreds of models and talented makeup artist over the years and loves to take a drive to lake of the Ozarks or West Bottoms in KC to Capture the moment when he is not in his studio. As you can see from his collage, he is very versatile and beyond amazing. If you are interested in having a photo session with Randy. You may contact him here. https://www.facebook.com/randy.l.roach?fref=ts&ref=br_tf

Kiss and Makeup! with Lexi Potter

She is a Classic beauty with a kissable pout. Ms. Lexi Potter Works in the Auto industry by day, But by night...She is a jack of all trades in makeup, modeling and fashion. “I started doing makeup when I was in pageants at the age of 14. Some of the pageants required us to be without contact of family while getting ready, meaning we had to help the other contestants out with hair and makeup. I would go to Merle Norman with the colors of the outfits and they would help me pick out the perfect color combination for every event. I fell in love with creating new looks and soon was able to do my own makeup flawlessly. I’ve been working with doing makeup for others for two years now (6 years if you count the years I did pageants and helped others) I recently had the pleasure of working with Jake Jackson who is the most amazing FX artist here in the Midwest. I hope to collaborate with him more in the future to create some insanely amazing masterpieces! I love doing makeup for others to make everyone feel beautiful. I really like creating looks that are not every day scenes, but really are more of an artistic value. I find inspiration through viewing images and saying “what if I tried it this way from this point of view?” As a makeup artist and a model, I am always running around from place to place. I have events almost every weekend with photographers, volunteer events, or working with The Bombshells. I can be contacted via my Facebook page most easily at Bombshell Lexi.” Says Lexi. Here’s how i completed my look on the right. Since I have brown eyes, I really try to get colors that make the brown more of a green. For this, I used warm fire colors (we were supposed to shoot images with fire but there was a burn ban lol). On the base layer I used a soft shimmer gold, followed by granite to almost the brow. Next, I added a dash of copper to the crease and finally finished the eyes with a warm truffle over the top and on the lid. For blush, I used a sparkling cider which brings some color but is still subtle. For more info: https://www.facebook.com/lexinicolemodel?ref=br_tf

East coast connections: With Mary Mayer As an artist/musician when did you first realize that you were doing what you loved? I've always been creative ever since I was little. I would get really excited about music and dressing up at Halloween. When I was old enough my mom made me take piano lessons. I liked it for a while but then started to loose interest. Then I realized that it was more fun to make up my own music that it was to play what was written. One year for Christmas my parents got me a keyboard. I loved dabbling with different sounds and drum patterns. Every year for Christmas I'd ask for a new one. Eventually this got to be too expensive but as I was getting older I'd save my money and chip in towards them. When I got to college I majored in music composition. It was there that I met up with an amazing girl who turned out to be related to me. Apparently we were distant cousins . After college we started a band called Sonodara. We played out a lot and ended up being asked to participate in a fashion show. This was my first experience modeling and I love it! I started modeling part-time after that. I liked coming up with the ideas for the shoots and tailored makeup and outfits to go with them. After a few years Sonodara went on hiatus so I put music on hold for a while and really dove into modeling and makeup artistry. I get to travel, be a guest at conventions, and meet fun people. I even got to be in a few short films and music videos. How long have you been in this field? I started writing my own music when I was little, so about 28 years if you want to go back that far! Ha ha! I've been modeling and doing makeup for about 11 years. Have you collaborated with anyone special, if not who would you like to work with if you could? I've been very fortunate in my career to have been able to work with a lot of talented individuals in many different fields. I've always had a dream of writing music with Trent Reznor though. Who knows? Maybe it will happen one day. What is your inspiration for doing what you do? I draw a lot of my inspiration for my cosplay, modeling and makeup from video games, comic books, Japanese animation, the 80's, fantasy and science fiction. My music is heavily inspired by Nine inch Nails, Tori Amos, The birthday Massacre, 80's and video game music.

We'd like to know what are your future plans? I currently have long list of cosplays I'd like to finish so I'm sure there will be plenty of fun photoshoots and conventions to look forward to. I'd also like to start posting some of my recent music online. It's been a while but I'd like to get back into it. And I wouldn't mind taking some classes for makeup and costuming if time provides. In the more distant future I'd like to see myself doing makeup fulltime or writing my on music for video games. Maybe even coming out with an album. No matter what I end up doing I hope to continue to be able to inspire others and work with more creative and talented people. Who would you compare your work to? I've been compared to Betty Paige a lot when I model, but I think has more to do with my hair and style. Musically I think my piano pieces especially are very Tori Amos, although you can definitely hear that industrial influence in there too. Closing thoughts: Don't let anyone's opinion stop you from doing what you love. When you're in the public eye there will always be critics. Be sure to surround yourself with positive, supportive people and you can definitely achieve your goals and happiness. A Sizzling Summer in: Wichita Kansas

Things to do By Sierra Badley

Wichita has to be one of the best cities in Kansas. There are tons of things to do for people of all ages. Museums, nightclubs, The Riverwalk and amusement parks .They have two large malls, Towne East and Towne West and several strip malls and outlets. I am going to give you 3 suggestions based on what to do this summer based on age range. For about $8 you can hit up Laser Quest on 21st & Woodlawn for an intense game of laser tag. This is fun for all ages, doors open at noon and stay open as late as 11pm . Olde town has a chain of bars that you can just park and walk to each one. My Suggestion is Pandora Nightclub at 115 N. Rock Island . They are the ultimate party bar. With live acts performing, The hottest D.J’s playing what you want to hear and a huge dance floor. Doors open at 9pm. And last but not least... You want some fun in Wichita this summer, Visit The Riverfest. It is an annual celebration of live music, great food, activities and culture May 30th June 7th. This is an event for everyone, Plus one of my all time favorite artist will be performing live this year. “Joan Jett”. I so can’t wait. Hope to see you all there. http://wichitariverfest.com/music.php?page=riverfest_concerts
