K65 Tube

K65 Tube is made of the high-strength copper alloy K65 and is available in two ranges with pressure ratings of either 80 bar or 120 bar. It is intended for use with CO2 sub critical or transcritical applications depending on system pressure requirements.

Insulation

AF/Armaflex Class O 2m Tubes

Suitable for insulating pipework for energy conservation and controlling condensation. It can be used on hot and cold water services, chilled lines, heating systems, air conditioning duct-work and refrigerated pipework.

Temperature range -50°C to +110°C. Supplied in 2m lengths. Armaflex has built in anti-microbial protection to reduce mould and bacteria growth. It is free from Formaldehyde, dust and CFCs with an ODP of zero.

TUA stainless steel thermostatic expansion valves are used for liquid injection into evaporators on both refrigeration and air conditioning systems using fluorinated refrigerants. TUA valves are compact in design, light weight and have steel / copper bi-metal connections for fast soldering. TUA have an interchangeable orifice and adjustable superheat.

ETS electronic expansion valves

ETS Electronic Expansion valves

ETS is a series of electric expansion valves for precise liquid injection in evaporators for air conditioning and refrigeration applications. The valve piston and linear positioning design is fully balanced, providing bi-flow feature as well as solenoid tight shut-off function in both flow directions. The valve design uses bipolar drive providing very precise flow regulation. ETS valves are compatible with electronic control solutions from Danfoss and other manufacturers.

Direct Acting Type - ORIT-6 & -10

These direct acting EPRs are offered in two sizes. The direct acting design although economical requires an evaporator pressure change above the minimum evaporator pressure setting to provide the rated flow capacity.

These EPRs are pilot operated using 'high side' pressure and require a pilot supply connection from the compressor discharge to operate. They are designed to be 'normally open' providing an unparalleled ability to operate with virtually no suction line pressure drop.

F-Gas Regulations

The amendments to the F-Gas regulations came into force on

1 January 2015 with the aim of encouraging users to switch to lower GWP refrigerants. As a user of fluorinated gases there are changes you need to be aware of:

Phase Down

The phase down will be controlled in two ways:

Cap

This will be measured by the amount of HFC’s placed on the market from 1st January 2015. The total market use will be stepped down from 100% (based on the average level between 2009 and 2012) to 21% in 2030. This will require the introduction and use of lower GWP refrigerants. The largest reduction is 37% between 2017and 2018 when the refrigerant used in precharged systems also comes into the calculation.

CO2 Equivalent

CO2 equivalent becomes the norm; refrigerant use and records are to contain the CO2 equivalent and not only the kilogram quantity. The CO2 equivalent can be calculated by taking the GWP of the refrigerant in use and multiplying it by the kilogram quantity used.

For example, R404A has a GWP of 3922. A 10kg system would contain 39T CO2 equivalent (10kg x 3922 ÷ 1000 = 39 tonnes CO2 equivalent).

Leak Testing

The regular leak testing requirements are now as follows based on the CO2 equivalent of the system charge:

5 tonnes to 50 tonnes

50 tonnes to 500 tonnes

500 tonnes and above

Reclaimed Refrigerant

Use

• 2020 – Ban on using new refrigerants with GWP of 2500 or greater for servicing existing commercial refrigeration systems where the charge size is greater than 40 tonnes CO2 (Approximately 10kg of R404A)

2020 – Ban on using refrigerants with a GWP of 2500 or more in new stationary refrigeration equipment

2022 - Ban on installing new centralised pack systems with a capacity of 40kw or more using refrigerants with a GWP of 150 or more 2025 – Ban on single split air conditioning systems with a GWP greater than 750 comes into force for systems of less than 3kg.

Purchase of Refrigerants

From 1 January 2015 refrigerant can only be sold to certified companies. Companies wishing to purchase refrigerant will need to be registered with one of the following bodies:

• Refcom

• Quidos

• Bureau Veritas

Please note there are some exceptions such as transport refrigeration, OEM’s and end users where it is sufficient for the companies to provide details of the engineers F-Gas qualification. Refrigerant can also be shipped by or collected by third parties that are not certified. CO2 Equivalent Leak Detection Required

every 12 months or 24 months with fixed leak detection

every 6 months or 12 months with fixed leak detection

every 3 months or 6 months with fixed leak detection

From 2020 until 2030 it will be possible to use Reclaimed Refrigerant for servicing systems which contain refrigerants with a GWP of 2500 or more. This will mainly affect R404A systems.

Labelling Requirement

Equipment using reclaimed or recycled fluorinated gases needs to be labelled with such information and must include the batch number, the name and address of the reclamation or recycling facility, the GWP and the CO2 equivalent.

New stationary refrigeration equipment using a refrigerant with a GWP greater than 2500 will be banned from 2020. This means that from this date new R404A equipment can no longer be installed. Should existing equipment have a charge size less than 40T CO2 equivalent (approximately 10kg of R404A) the system can continue to be serviced (topped up) with new or Reclaimed R404A. Please note, it will only be possible to use Reclaimed R404A to service systems above 40T CO2 equivalent until 2030.

The use of R23 in applications below -50°C

R23 is exempt from the new equipment and service ban where used in applications operating below –50°C.

Recovery and Receiver Cylinders

Recovery cylinders are used for the sole purpose of returning used or reclaimed refrigerant to Wolseley. Receiver Cylinders are used as a temporary storage vessel for refrigerant that the engineer wishes to re-introduce into a system. Receiver cylinders are internally clean and evacuated prior to dispatch and come complete with a yellow and black banded valve guard and a dual port valve to enable push-pull recovery of gas.

Hydrocarbon refrigerants must be returned in the Flammable Receiver Cylinder and not mixed with conventional refrigerants.

HP Recovery Cylinders must be used for higher pressure refrigerants such as R23.

The below costs include Environmental charges in England, Wales and Scotland. Quarterly returns are submitted to the Environment Agency and also to customers for England and Wales.

Additional Charges will be made for the following:

• Cylinders which have been overfilled above the Maximum Fill weight

• Cylinders containing mixed hydrocarbon and standard refrigerants

• Cylinders containing CFC's and R123.

Drums are available on request.

If yes, Wolseley’s oil disposal service will help you dispose of this refrigeration oil responsibly. Our oil disposal service provides you with an empty 10ltr container. Instructions for a Refrigerant Analysis Sample:

This analysis cylinder is rated to 47bar and is only for low pressure refrigerants. It is not suitable for Carbon Dioxide (CO2/R744). If a Carbon Dioxide analysis is required ensure you use high pressure sample cylinder rated to 250bar or higher (Code 624746)

1) Ensure the system can sustain the reduction in charge needed to take the sample.

2) Fill a 1kg analysis cylinder with a minimum of 500grams. Don’t exceed the maximum fill of 1kg.

3) Fill a 5kg analysis cylinder with a minimum of 2kg. Don’t exceed the maximum fill of 3kg.

4) After sampling make sure the cylinder valve is closed.

5) Return sample cylinder and completed form to A-Gas via your nearest Wolseley branch.

6) Please advise labservicesuk@agas.com prior to returning used analysis cylinders to avoid any delays.

Instructions for a Carbon Dioxide (CO2/R744) Sample:

Ensure a high pressure sample cylinder rated to 250bar or higher is used for your Carbon Dioxide (CO2/R744) sample. Do not use a standard 47bar refrigerant analysis cylinder.

1) Ensure the system can sustain the reduction in charge needed to take the sample.

2) Ensure the fitting and cylinder inlet is dry before taking a sample.

3) Fill the sample cylinder with a minimum of 2kg. Don’t exceed the maximum fill of 5Kg

4) Work under a pressure range of max 200bar

5) Sample from the liquid phase

6) After sampling make sure the cylinder valve is closed.

7) Return sample cylinder and completed form to A-Gas via your nearest Wolseley branch.

8) Please advise labservicesuk@agas.com prior to returning used analysis cylinders to avoid any delays.

Instructions for Oil Analysis Kits:

1) Take the sample into the glass sample bottle provided.

2) Ensure the sample bottle is at least half full. Amounts below this will not be sufficient for an analysis to be conducted.

3) Fill in the sample details on the form provided.

4) Please make sure the sample bottle is clean and sealed securely and unable to leak in transit.

5) Return the sample bottle and completed form to A-Gas (Banyard Road, Portbury West, Bristol, BS20 7XH) using the shipping box and pre-paid label provided.

Designed to be versatile: Manufactured from galvanised steel the LSR Range is robust in its construction to withstand demanding applications, easy and fast to install and has easy access via hinged drain pan's and fan plate(s) for maintenance and cleaning.

Optional refrigerants: They are specifically designed to operate with refrigerant R404A but can also be used with R134a,R407C, R507A, R407F and R407A without modification.

Coil

The RF-SJ range utilises the EL-Fin configuration for most applications. Standard EL (12FPI) incorporates 3/8”(9.5mm) tube diameter on an equilateral spacing achieving a good balance of reduced refrigerant charge whilst maintaining appropriate thermal load to achieve good system stability. The coil is fully supported, through its length and depth, by tube sheets and internal fan baffles secured to the continuous one piece side plates.

The coil tubes are also supported on Aluminium or Copper insert plates secured to the tube sheets and fan baffles. Copper (CU) tube, Aluminium-Magnesium (ALMG) fins is available with a fin spacing of 2.1mm as standard.

Fans & Controls

Searle offer either AC or EC fans supplied by EBM Papst available in a 630mm diameter with a choice of 4, 6, 8 pole motors; all ErP 2015 compliant with 1 or 3 phase options available.

Beermaster standard range R407C - BMO/BMIE

Beermaster - R407C

The R407C Beermaster is a flexible packaged cooling system, designed to fully incorporate the demands of todays cellar cooling industry.

Selections are available with cellar temperatures from 4°C to 12°C, which will meet the increasing range of cooling requirements for pubs, clubs and wine bars. In addition sound levels have been minimised throughout the range of BMO condensing units and BMIE evaporators.

Consisting of compact BMO outdoor, weatherproof, housed units aligned with space saving BMIE evaporators, the

Wolseley Beermaster range is the solution to all cellar cooling applications.

BMO Condensing Unit Specification

Nominal sound pressure levels: 41 to 49 dB(A) at 10m. Lower sound levels are achieved using the acoustic kit.

Housing: Fully weatherproof, with powder coat grey gloss finish (RAL7036).

Compressor: BMO 100 – Hermetic complete with crankcase heater. BMO 120 to 550 – Scroll complete with crankcase heater.

Liquid Line: Receiver and sightglass.

Controls: Externally accessible mains isolator.Contactor. HP and LP pressure switches. Fully wired and enclosed electrical assembly.

Fansets: Single phase, high efficiency, low noise external rotor design, rated to IP44.

Service: Maximum access for service maintenance. Simple hinged and removable panels. Lid lifts up and latches, to the fully open position.

Beermaster standard range R407C - BMO/BMIE

BMIE Evaporators

BMIE energy efficient evaporators, incorporating EC fan technology replaced the BMI range.

The EC axial fansets substantially reduce the fan power consumption.

Controllers will be set to operate with one fan set during the off cycle, to further reduce energy on multiple fan evaporators.

In addition the controller incorporates a direct plug connection for a Free Cooler - please refer to page 266 for full details of the Free Cooler.

BMIE Evaporator Specification

Nominal sound pressure levels: 53 to 58 dB(A) at 3m.

Construction: Compact steel chassis design. White, single piece highly durable ABS front panel, incorporating fan mounting and controls.

Drain tray: Durable ABS with 3/4 inch BSP connection. Simple removal for cleaning. Fittings easily available to connect to speedfit, copper, polypipe etc as a standard drain fitting. Wolseley part number 517588

Controls: Electronic controller, mounted in a subassembly with the fan capacitors and pre-made wiring connections. Incorporates an off cycle defrost regime, which automatically initiates if the optional defrost sensor is fitted.

Expansion valve and solenoid valve.

Fansets: Single phase, EC high efficiency, low noise external rotor design, rated to IP44 complete with air straightener.

Air Throw: Up to 17m for even cellar temperatures.

Energy saving: Option to operate twin and three fan evaporators on a single fan during off cycle or heating mode. An off cycle defrost will initiate all fans.

Air heater: Single fan - 1.1 kw, twin/triple fan - 2.2kw, operated by controller, which incorporates dead band control.

Liquid Line: Inlet connection with filter drier and solenoid valve.

Service: Front panel, drain tray and end panels are fully removable providing full access to unit, without the need to release from the ceiling or wall brackets. Front mounted controller allows access without removing platework.

Connections: End plates wrap around back of evaporator. Removal provides full access to the pipework connections.

Installation: Easily accessible endplates. All components fully accessible from one side.

R407C BMIE Evaporators

Options

Wall Bracket: Universal design suitable for all BMO condensing units and BMIE evaporators.

Acoustic Kit: Minimum sound pressure levels are achieved on the BMO condensing units using this option, with reductions up to 6 dB(A) at 10m, when running the fan at minimum speed. The kit comprises the fan speed controller and acoustic lining to the compressor compartment.

Defrost sensor: Required when cellar operates below 8°C. Electronic controller incorporates an off cycle defrost regime, which automatically initiates if the defrost sensor is fitted.

Recommended BMO & BMIE Interconnecting Pipework Sizing

The pipework sizes above are suited for the nominal duty of the BMO and BMIE matched together as shown in the table. Pipework should be selected based on the total equivalent run length of the interconnecting pipe between the two units, not the dimensional length. Additional equivalent lengths for all bends, vertical rises etc, should be added to the basic run lengths to achieve the equivalent run lengths.

If the equivalent run length exceeds the 10m setting use 20m, if the run exceeds 20m use 30m, do not uprate or interpolate the readings above. Please consult your Wolseley Technical Engineer for selections of line lengths over 30m.

Cellarmaster R407C

The Cellarmaster is a small specifically designed range of service friendly condensing units and evaporators, catering for cooling capacities between 2.9 and 5.7kW, with rated ambient temperatures up to 38˚C.

It provides a simple, cost effective solution for the smaller cellars within the beer and wine cooling industry, providing temperature control from 9 to 12˚C. Sound levels have been minimised throughout the range of CMO condensing units and CMI evaporators.

The CMO Condensing Unit Features:

Beermaster free cooler

Beermaster Free Cooler

Designed to provide energy saving in Beer Cellars using ambient air temperatures at or below 8°C.

Very effective with multiple fan Beermaster evaporators achieving annual cooling equipment energy savings of 30% up to a maximum of 35%. In the offcycle mode only one fan operates to maintain air circulation within the cellar.

Use of the Free Cooler with single fan Beermaster evaporators also reduces energy usage; however the fan power remains constant. Suitable for use with Beermaster models up to and including the BMO300 / BMIE407-104 combination.

The Free Cooler is normally mounted on an outside facing wall with the air stream in line or adjacent with the Beermaster evaporator, to facilitate adequate cellar circulation. Compact design, simple to install; requires 157mm circular hole wall cutter and protected 13A electrical plug supply. If the Free Cooler fails to operate the Beermaster cooling system will continue normal operation.

Equipment details

The free air cooling system consists of a fan, filter, controller, damper, connection spigot and casing.

There are two temperature probes provided; one for monitoring outside temperature which is required to be located outside through the damper and wall hole.

The other temperature probe monitors the cellar temperature.

Operation

The free cooling system operates as follows:

The Free Cooler starts operating when the cellar temperature rises to a set point (11°C) and outside ambient temperatureis 8°C or below.

The fan draws fresh air through the damper and filter at a constant speed.

This fresh air is circulated within the cellar by using one or two fans from Beermaster evaporator.

When the temperature in cellar reduces to 10.5°C, the free are cooling system fan stops drawing air from outside; however, the beer master fan(s) continue to circulate air in the cellar.

If the outside temperature rises above 8°C, the free air cooling system goes to standby and the Beermaster cellar cooling system takes over.

When the cellar temperature drops below set point (10°C), then the Beermaster heaters will operate to maintain cellar temperature.

Ducting

If an outside facing wall is unavailable, the Free Cooler can be mounted in a suitable location and ducted within the limitations listed below. Units are manufactured with a rear entry spigot for direct attachment to an outside facing wall. For use with ducting the air inlet spigot can be changed to a bottom entry, by exchanging thre rear spigot with the bottom closing plate.

Circular Duct

Lightweight steel fluted 150mm nominal diameter (Lindab SR or similar).

Bends

150mm nominal diameter with joining seals 90° of 45° - (Lindab Safe BU90 / BU45 or similar).

Maximum straight length and bends can be calculated as shown below.

It is recommended that any increase in pressure resistance should be limited to 130 pascals.
