Time to Talk day is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation – it’s the day that friends, families, and communities comes together to talk, listen, and change lives. Conversations have the power to improve your everyday experience – helping to reduce stigma and create supportive schools, colleges, and communities where everyone can talk openly about mental health and feel empowered to seek help when they need it. Time to Talk Day at West London College takes place on Wednesday 2nd February 2022.

Join Mind staff from the Wellbeing Advice Service in the new student seating at Hammersmith (near reprographics) to have a free hot drink and a chat! If you’re at other campuses just drop into Student Services!

Race Equality Week Race Equality Matters was formed in response to the Black Lives Matter Movement to turn declarations of commitment and support from organisations and individuals into meaningful change in racial equality both in the workplace and in society. Race Equality Week is an annual UK-wide movement uniting thousands of organisations and individuals to address the barriers to race equality in the workplace. The events of 2020, including the Black Lives Matter movement and the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on ethnic minority communities, has heightened public consciousness of race inequality. Now there is a need to galvanise and maximise impact through a nationwide collaboration for real change. For more information please visit www.raceequalitymatters.com and check out the Youtube video below: Introduction to Race Equality Week | A Race Equality Matters Solution

Race Equality Week A note from our Equality Officer Race equality week is when schools and institutions provide equal opportunities to people of all races and skin colours. Race equality is important because it outlines the importance of accepting others' differences. Currently, student services are using visual practices to embrace diversity. They are also running workshops and events to engage students and improve their understanding. As the Student Union’ equalities leader, I want to make diversity a lot more visible and understood, in a way that students will be open to being themselves and speaking up if they feel discriminated against or unsafe. This way the College can promote equality and the matureness of the students. Javé Campbell - Harris

Race Equality Week

This year’s theme is #ActionNotJustWords. Race Equality is so important to us here at West London College, we have asked all students to create posters on what Race Equality means to them which will be displayed across our campuses. Race Equality will be your Tutorial topic WC 7th February.

Bursary Frequently asked questions. Why was there no bursary payment in December? There are six payments that are spread out throughout the academic year. The payment dates can be found on the Student Portal and the number of support payments students will receive will be dependent on the time the application was assessed and approved. Click here for payment dates How will I know if I have received my bursary payments? You will receive a confirmation on the day of your bursary payment to your college email address or you can check the payments you will be receiving by logging back into your Pay my Student Account and checking the payments tab. Why do some of my friends receive more money than me? Bursary awards are individually assessed based on a set criteria that supports students' individual needs depending on the type of courses, distances travelled to College, materials associated with their course and number of days per week students attend College for timetabled lessons. Therefore, each bursary payment may differ from student to student with the type of support they have been awarded based on these factors. For further details regarding bursary information please checkout student funds page on the student portal. Click here If you have not yet applied for a bursary. It’s not too late to apply!! Please check out the Student Finance page under Student Services on the Student Portal for the funding eligibility criteria. Click here The next deadline date to get applications approved in order to receive the Spring Term bursary award is Wednesday 9th February 2022. For further information regarding support available please speak to a member of the Student Services team
