Construction growth in the UK reached its highest level for over two decades in June 2021 (HIS Markit/CIPS UK), with the industry expected to grow by an average of 2.5% between 2022 and 2025. Southall has recently seen huge development - including the opening of the Elizabeth Line rail network, connecting it at high speed to Reading and central London. More work is planned in Ealing and the surrounding area, creating more construction and green skills jobs. To equip the local community with these in-demand skills, Southall Community College will become home to a brand new Construction and Green Skills centre. The centre is due to open in Spring 2023, and will offer a variety of courses - from bricklaying to carpentry and joinery, to electrical installation to plastering and plumbing.
