GREGALEXANDER Greg Alexander is a world citizen who travels the planet to transmute all the quintessence of femininity on glazed paper. If he nourishes an atavistic passion for Greece, the ground of his ancestors, it’s in Paris that he has found his home port. As a photographer, he continues his dream of perfection because, according to him, “the photograph is a kind of plastic surgery which is able to modulate a face ad infinitum!” His vision of beauty is fragile, transitory, a little kitsch and inevitably fatal.

PUBLISHER’S NOTE

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Loyal Readers, New Readers, Subscribers, Luxury Lovers, Partners and Friends, As we are all awaiting the good news of a relief from this terrible virus, hoping that a solution can appear to finally help bring our lives and businesses back to normal, I would like to take a moment to turn our focus onto the core of our services as a publication. With over eight years spent publishing our beautiful luxury lifestyle magazine, we have continued to produce a work that is unlike any other, designed for all tiers of wealth to enjoy. Considered a ‘rare beauty’, ‘pure’ and the best sourcebook of Luxury Goods, Fashion, Style, Doctors and Lawyers, our publication has been a staple read to those in the Tampa Bay area. Until now, I have never shared details about what inspired our magazines’ founding and mission. So, as we continue to evolve, to begin to further brand awareness emerging to growing numbers, and to reaffirm our mission, I believe now is a wonderful time to share a little of our story with you. That day long ago when I began considering creating a magazine, I was inspired to craft a publication with great passion and purpose that would set a new standard for luxury. Still, I knew this project would be a matter of waiting until the right moment to fulfill this dream. I envisioned a magazine that would explore the softer side of luxury, and I wanted to execute this vision in a unique, fresh way by creating what I had yet to find in the world of publications. For the Love of True Luxury I love the art of luxury. I am a person who eats, sleeps, breathes, and dreams of incredible, beautiful places, things, and experiences so luxurious, and I hold deep respect for preserving history, heritage, craft and creativity…every sumptuous moment created out of appreciation, where all the senses are stimulated and surrounded by great beauty, profound comfort and peace. For as long as I can remember, I have always understood luxury. I have always felt it and connected with it, like an ever-tethered umbilical deeply embedded and feeding my soul; it has been a voice calling to me, inspiring and enriching me. Therefore, I decided to begin this magazine by first choosing to focus on stories and love, knowing commerce would follow, because where there is love, transactions naturally follow. And luxury is all about love. I am incredibly honored and grateful for the love and loyalty we have received from our readers and clients. Many have become friends, and we deeply care for all of you. When creating an immersive luxury experience, Excellence and the Essence of Luxury are vital components to consider. Why? Because according to my views on luxury and where it’s headed, it is a complex concept that is not easily defined. Early on, I knew our vision of luxury would benefit from finesse because most titles seem to have a harder approach and feel to the subject. Also, so much about luxury needs to be felt in order to be understood, for at its heart, luxury is a sensory experience. With much love and hope for all of the world, we will get through this year together, and we mean it from deep in our hearts. All the best,

Sven J. Bode Publisher P.S. Please note our amazing feature about the great lawyers in this city who will be on your side to get through difficult times as they appear.

REFRAMED In celebration of 100 years of women’s right to vote

In celebration of 100 years of women’s right to vote, the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts will display the group exhibition Reframed from September 2020 until December 2020. Reframed exhibits four internationally renowned photographers who analyze the representation of women and female stereotypes in media, culture and science. By re-photographing, re-framing and re-assessing common imagery and ideas of femininity in a male orientated world, these artists provide an inside look through the female lens of underlying female stereotypes and prejudices. Astrid Jahnsen (Peru) re-photographed in her series Back Drop, images in old encyclopedias of women who mostly appeared by chance and coincidence in the background of other images. She takes these women out of anonymity, rewriting male-dominated history by rescuing them from that second plane and placing her as the main character, thus presenting them without the conditioning of the gaze

that recorded them. Iraqi artist Sama Alshaibi, who lives and works in the US, questions the impact of unequal power relations between the West and the Middle East, as well as how that domination is captured and documented in photographs. For this project (Carry Over), she created self-portraits by using traditional printing processes. The series recalls and subverts historical Orientalist portraits through a feminist and post-colonial lens. Ina Jang’s (South Korea) Utopia is a series that researches the silhouettes of female figures found in the Japanese soft-core pornographic genre ‘Gravure’. Navigating the portrayals of women and the suggested femininity in this genre, her work questions our relationships with the stereotypical representation of the female body. In her video Office Scene, photographer and video artist Endia Beal (US) confronts the viewer with black female stereotypes in the work space by creating an uncomfortable situation with white male co-workers that lay bare the double standards used for young black females in society.

TRANSITIONING INTO FALL While living in the Florida heat!

You may not see the palms of palm trees falling, but believe it or not, fall is right around the corner. If you can’t wait to break out your boots and stand out in autumnal colors, easing your way into fall fashion when it’s still hot outside isn’t as hard as it seems.

A classic transitional piece is a denim jacket. Denim jackets have the ability to make any outfit look put together. They aren’t too heavy, so they’re perfect to pair with a basic outfit underneath such as black jeans and a t-shirt to stay cool and still rock the fall trend.

It’s time to exchange those open toe’d flip flops for something a little more classy and on trend. Your shoes tell a lot about who you are, so starting with fall footwear is the easiest way to make the transition. Chelsea boots are still prominent in menswear, and we won’t see them going away any time soon. Chelsea boots are the perfect fall accessory because they can bring together an outfit or even be the statement piece. A neutral suede boot can make any basic outfit look stylish. You can even try complementing a leather jacket with black or brown leather boots.

Fall doesn’t mean you have to completely cancel out your summer clothes. When putting together your fall wardrobe, look for burgundy, greens, mustard, navy, browns, and camel. These autumnal shades complement each other well and give off the appearance that you know how to properly dress for the “confusing” in-between season.

Incorporating jackets into your look may seem like the most difficult part when it still feels like summer. Nights get cool and breezy, so it’s perfect to wear a light jacket. Bomber jackets, cardigans, flannels, and light leather jackets are all good options for this transitional period. 20

Knowing the ropes of rocking fall fashion when the weather is still hot will have you entering cool weather prepared, ahead of the game, and fashionforward. Letting go of summer doesn’t sound too bad now, does it?

PAUL R. FERREIRA, CPA, CFE ESQ. The Lexwerx Law Firm, LLC

The Lexwerx Law Firm, LLC (“Lexwerx”) provides government contracting, finance, and asset protection law advice and services to businesses in support of the national defense. Admitted to the Federal, New York and New Jersey bars in 1989, founder, attorney, Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner and decorated war veteran, Paul Ferreira has served from the battlefield to the boardroom. He has practiced locally since 2016. A first generation American, Paul was born and raised in the tight-knit, working-class predominantly Portuguese neighborhood known as the “Ironbound” in Newark, New Jersey. “Growing up in that community, you were taught family, integrity, and work ethic mattered most.” Paul earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University because that was the family business. “It was my plan “B” if I did not make it into law school.” After earning his Juris Doctorate from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, Paul began his career as a Prosecutor. “I thought I’d never practice accounting again except to balance my check book. I was wrong” Assigned financially motivated white-collar crime matters because of my “accounting background”, I discovered I loved the “got you” aspect of those cases. I continued to conduct complex financial fraud investigations for foreign and domestic insurance companies after transitioning to the private sector. Eventually, I also became a Certified Public Accountant to better understand the underlying financial transactions I investigated. On September 10, 2001, Paul was an accomplished attorney/CPA practicing in the New York Metropolitan area. He was also an officer in the United States Army Reserves. “The next day, I watched the towers come down from the New Jersey side of the Hudson River and realized my professional life was about to go on a serendipitous detour.”   Between 2003 and 2017, Paul spent over eight nonconsecutive years on active duty including two tours in Iraq, a mission to Africa, a tour in Afghanistan, and a two-year stint working for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Some of my most purposed filled professional moments happened during my service. I met the most amazing Americans and developed lifelong friendships. Together, we accomplished things I never imagined. I cherish those memories and would not change a thing.

Paul came to Tampa in 2015 in uniform and immediately fell in love with the city, especially its edgy entrepreneurial vibe, and decided to stay when he ended his tour at MacDill Air Force Base. After completing the Veteran Florida’s Entrepreneurship Program and being admitted to the Florida bar in 2016, Paul served as Chief Legal and Chief Financial Officer for a not for profit organization helping solve challenging Warfighter problems. I became captivated by how government, academia, and the private sector can come together relatively quickly under non-traditional authorities and regulations to provide our Nation with the tools it needs to fight today’s wars and tomorrow’s wars. Lexwerx was created to help guide the businesses and organizations that support our National Defense through the complex web of federal regulations to get our service members what they need. Outside of his legal practice, Paul is still serving as a Colonel in the United States Army Reserves and serves on the Board of Action Zone a not for profit helping Veteran-owned businesses transform the strength and growth of the community.

GIASI LAW P.A. Mike Giasi, Melissa Giasi and Erin Berger Founded in 2015 by Mike, Giasi Law is a dynamic boutique law firm that was created to provide superior, aggressive legal representation and counsel to each of its clients. Mike is both a skilled civil litigator and a seasoned criminal defense attorney who uses his trial talents to help clients in both arenas. Mike zealously defends clients charged with violating Federal or state crimes. He focuses on defending clients charged with insurance fraud and other financial crimes, but he has extensive experience defending RICO, trafficking and other drug crimes and has tried over one hundred cases to verdict. Most of his time in civil court is spent acting as an advocate for policyholders wronged by insurance companies but Mike has had much success for clients involved in business and contract disputes. Mike is also frequently hired by clients named in personal injury lawsuits to supervise the attorneys hired by the insurance carrier. Melissa joined forces with Mike at Giasi Law in 2018. She is board certified by the Florida Bar in Appellate Practice and Real Estate Law. Most of her time is spent prosecuting and defending appeals in Florida’s district courts of appeal and the Florida Supreme Court, but Melissa also handles Federal appellate cases as well as select commercial litigation cases at the trial court level. Melissa is an expert in appellate practice and her clients rely on Melissa to navigate the obstacles that frequently arise during jury trials as well as the minefields of appellate preservation. Melissa does not just step in after a case is over. As appellate counsel, she is often actively involved in cases far before the case goes to trial. Melissa frequently appeals adverse rulings prior to trial with the goal of giving her client the best possible chance to prevail at trial while simultaneously preserving her

client’s right to challenge an unfavorable outcome. Erin Berger joined Giasi Law in 2019. Her primary focus is appellate work, but she also brought with her 15 years of litigation experience in various areas of law including real estate, first- and thirdparty insurance claims, construction, general business and employment law. Erin gained valuable experience in trial and appellate advocacy early in her career when she worked as a law clerk for the Honorable David A. Monaco at the Fifth District Court of Appeal, and then went on to work as a law clerk for the Honorable Marcia Morales-Howard, a District Court Judge with the Middle District of Florida. Erin has prosecuted and defended lawsuits and appeals on behalf of large institutional lenders and insurers, as well as individual homeowners in every appellate court in Florida, including the Florida Supreme Court. Having represented various clients on both sides of a dispute, Erin is able to see each case from many perspectives and offers each client invaluable advice in navigating the court system and creating the best possible chance for success. The true glue that unites the talent at Giasi Law is the passion that both Melissa, Erin and Mike have for helping their clients get the benefits they are entitled to from insurance companies. At the trial court level, Mike determinedly litigates all matters pertaining to the rights of an insured in all first-party actions, including undervaluation and underpayment of a claim, denial of coverage, and insurer bad faith. PAMELA CICHON & ERNEST MUELLER Dedicated to Government in the Florida Sunshine The City of Temple Terrace, located in Hillsborough County, is represented by City Attorney Pamela Cichon and Deputy City Attorney Ernest Mueller, who together provide 53 years of government law experience to their municipal client. Both attorneys spent their early career as Assistant Attorneys General with the Florida Department of Legal Affairs: Ms. Cichon with the Criminal Appeals Division in Daytona Beach and Mr. Mueller serving in the Civil Litigation Division in Tampa. After switching to local government in 1989, Ms.Cichon developed a winning track record defending the City of St. Petersburg in labor arbitrations and state and federal courts during her nearly 24 years as a Senior Assistant City Attorney. Most of these trials involved claims of employment discrimination, negligence with personal injury, false arrest, civil rights violations, and improper land use decisions. Mr. Mueller joined the City of St. Petersburg as an Assistant City Attorney in 1999 practicing in the areas of employment law and code enforcement. In 2006, Ernie joined the City of Tampa’s legal department where he broadened his practice areas to include land use, collections, and foreclosures. He eventually rose to the position of Chief Assistant City Attorney before retiring in 2019. “The timing was perfect,” Ms. Cichon says. “We were fortunate that Ernie, with his vast knowledge of local government, became available just as we were hiring.” Mr. Mueller now devotes thirty hours each week to serving the City of Temple Terrace, affording him time for a private law practice with Mueller Law, P.A. assisting others in tackling their legal problems. Until Ms. Cichon was chosen by Temple Terrace’s City Council as its City Attorney, the city was represented by outside attorneys. Pam became the city’s first in-house counsel in at least 40 years. Thus, the job wasn’t simply drafting ordinances and attending meetings, but required the creation of a full Legal Department. Temple Terrace had major development plans in the works at the time and is currently seeing a renaissance in its downtown redevelopment area, so having an attorney always accessible to officials and staff is instrumental. “It’s an exciting time for Temple Terrace; and I feel great satisfaction when my legal work facilitates something one can see and use, such as new shops, apartments, and restaurants.” Temple Terrace’s City Attorneys share a philosophy of giving back to their profession and community. Ernie taught local government law at Thomas Cooley Law School and currently serves on the Hillsborough Charter Review Board. Pam was recently honored by Gulfcoast Legal Services, Inc. for 29 years of service on its Board of Directors. She is a charter member and past chair of the Florida Bar Government Lawyers Section, as well as a past chair of the Florida Bar’s Client Security Fund Committee. In addition to being a trained arbitrator who has served on the Florida New Motor Vehicle Arbitration Board, Pam volunteered for 6 years with Lawyers for Literacy, and has been a hearing officer for Pinellas County’s Housing Authority, Value Adjustment Board, School Board, traffic court, and juvenile drug court. 11250 N. 56th Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617 www.TempleTerrace.com Photos by: Silly Robot Studios

Candice founded Colucci Law Group to relentlessly fight for others who are being exploited by insurance companies, and to bring compassion, dedication, and aggressive advocacy to each client. She has three offices and represents clients throughout the State of Florida. Candice dedicates her practice to representing residential and commercial property owners against their insurance companies when they deny, delay, or underpay their insurance claim. During the disaster of Hurricane Michael, Candice and her team of experts led a “boots on the ground” type operation by volunteering their time and providing supplies to the Panhandle where destruction had hit the hardest, as well as representing homeowners that were forced to live in tents and moldinfested homes due to their insurance companies’ neglect. Candice treats her clients like family and protects them unapologetically. During the Pandemic when most companies were forced to shut down, Colucci Law Group most recently recovered nearly $2 million dollars in additional money for its clients, that are still currently living in deplorable conditions. When Candice takes on a case, her clients reap the ultimate benefit of her immense knowledge, experience, and intense personal investment. Candice is selfless in her endeavor to prevent the revictimization of others. Although Attorney Colucci’s firm specializes in Property Damage Insurance claims, 2020 turned out to be a year where racial inequality demanded attention. Candice and her team attended peaceful protests and spoke at Citizen Review Boards to seek a radiant integrated future for our community. Candice’s unwavering commitment to empowering others through education lead her to start a Podcast called “Legal Gangster.” The Podcast offers free legal information on various topics, in an effort to arm the listeners with the tools to stand up for themselves in all areas of their lives…to encourage others to fight back, Legally. A Fish Tale Pandemic Edition B Y D A W N H A R R I S S H E R L I N G , M . D . , F. A . C . P.

Traditionally, marine life pets have not done well in our home. We have prematurely lost a hermit crab and several fish. However, this past year, we have been uncharacteristically successful in keeping alive our unfortunately named beta fish, Karen. Though we hadn’t been in the market for a beta fish, given our prior pathetic history, Karen was an unexpected bar mitzvah favor. And after a year, her hastily purchased bowl, diving head ornament, and rocks were looking a little, well, gross. An upgrade had been long overdue. We carefully selected a new tank, Sponge Bob ornament, and gravel for Karen’s new environment. After a rinse and water treatment, we plopped Karen in and threw out her green-hewed, slightly slimy, old home. And then Karen froze. She stopped swimming. She stopped eating. Every few hours I would check to see if she had died. I got the kids mentally prepared for yet another fish funeral. But after two days of fish catatonia, like a fish phoenix rising from the purple pebbles at the bottom of her tank, Karen began to explore her new environment, darting in and out of her Sponge Bob Pineapple and eating her fish food again. We had only one explanation for Karen’s miraculous recovery—initially she must have been too overwhelmed and stressed out by her new environment to function. Her lifelong routine had been upended suddenly and without warning. Sound familiar? Many of us have been wondering why we haven’t been more productive these past few months. Even when the kids

don’t seem to need our attention, instead of working or finally organizing our closets, we binge watch mediocre television or mindlessly scroll through social media. Sometimes it feels like we are letting ourselves or our families down. But really, we are just stunned to be plopped into a new environment without warning. Most people thrive on routine or are used to it such that it provided a stable backbone to their day. Now we float around stunned at the changes that just appeared in our lives a few months ago—our so-called “new normal.” Dr. Jennifer Goldin, a clinical psychologist based in the COVID-19 hotspot of South Florida, agrees. But some more advanced work than what Karen did may be necessary. “I think we are in a moment of cultural shock and adaptation is required,” she says. “People have to identify that what they may have done before may not work here. People are going to have to learn new coping strategies.” Dr. Goldin thinks that our previous behaviors may be detrimental to dealing with the current atmosphere of social isolation. She cites social media as an example. “Social media, ideally, was meant to bring people together and enhance connection. (However), right now, it is incredibly polarizing. It’s become either an echo chamber or an opportunity for alienation.” She adds, “You need to check in with yourself—are you clenching your fists or your jaw when reading something? You may need to dial it back a little now.” Dr. Goldin suggests that when we are engaged in an activity that may have brought us joy or at least a little diversion pre-pandemic, we now pause and ask ourselves if we are feeling better or worse than we did a few minutes ago. Becoming aware of our negative emotions is the first step in overcoming stagnation.

STYLE MD

“We can’t always control our environment, but we can control our choices,” she says. “Our thoughts can be like being on a sit and spin and we’re just moving too fast and circling around on the same thought. So, we have to disrupt that thought process.” To do so, Dr. Goldin advises becoming more engaged with our immediate environment. (Karen, by exploring her pineapple, was doing this even without psychological advice—she might be a very smart fish.) Just “wiggling your toes into the ground and feeling the carpet beneath your feet” can be helpful. Alternatively, Dr. Goldin suggests counting backwards from ten and possibly pairing that with deep breathing exercises. Then, do another check in. Are you feeling better? Do you

have more focus? If not, it may be time for a break and getting out into nature can be incredibly restorative. Though Dr. Goldin emphasizes that not everyone responds to the same things. She suggests making a list of the things that bring you joy and doing those things when feeling negative emotions, even if it is as simple as watching a “feel-good” movie or looking at old pictures.

Dr. Sherling is a general internist and clinical associate professor at Florida Atlantic University Schmidt College of Medicine. She is the author of several academic articles and a medical thriller, Not Quite Dead. Website: dawnharrissherling.com Twitter: @dharrissherling

“We can make choices that affect our mood in a positive way,” she says. “We just need to accommodate a new reality.” And just as Karen was able to look around and realize that she was okay in her new space, so will we. A beta fish may not have all the answers, or any really, except to point out that change is hard, but coping with it is possible.

Automobili Lamborghini and The Italian Sea Group present the worldwide premiere of ‘Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63’, the Tecnomar fleet’s new motor yacht available in a limited edition in reference to Lamborghini’s 1963 foundation. Performance, driving pleasure, attention to quality and details, emotion: these are the emotive features combined within the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63, thanks to innovative engineering solutions and a distinct design unique to shared Italian style and tradition. This motor yacht project, developed by The Italian Sea Group, started with several collaborative sessions with the contribution of Lamborghini’s Centro Stile and inspiration from the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37: the hybrid super sports car incorporating benchmarking new supercapacitor and materials science technologies, that anticipates the future with an unmistakable design and completely customizable colour and details. The challenge of re-interpreting the common DNA traits of both brands has inspired all phases of the project, from the design principles to the definition of technical characteristics ensuring incredible performance, without neglecting the quality of materials and careful attention to detail. Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini said: “This yacht represents the significance of creating a valuable partnership, at its best: our co-operation allows the essence of both organisations’ style and expertise to be transferred to different worlds, sharing in their diversity to interpret and add value to the final product in a new environment. If I had to imagine a Lamborghini on water, this would be my vision. I’m delighted to celebrate this successful collaboration.” “We announced this partnership in May, and today we present Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63, a motor yacht which will became as futuristic an icon as the car she is inspired by,” said Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group. “Selected owners around the world will own not only the fastest Tecnomar motor yacht in the fleet, but a Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 masterpiece. I’m proud that we have chosen to create this innovative and challenging project with Automobili Lamborghini, which links technology, supreme design, quality and performance.” Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is not just an exercise in style and design; it represents the vanguard in luxury speed boats. Inspired by

| STYLETOME.COM

Lamborghini super sports cars’ performance, the most significant innovative features at the heart of the concept are speed and the dynamism of lightweight engineering. With two MAN V12-2000 hp engines, the motor yacht reaches 60 knots and will be the fastest of the Tecnomar fleet, satisfying the demands of the collector as well as those loving life at sea. The carbon fibre material, typical of Lamborghini super sports cars, puts this motor yacht firmly in the ultra-lightweight boat classification, with its 63 feet length weighing in at just 24 tons. The exterior design is characterized by a super sportive silhouette, with a cutting-edge but thoroughly nautical appearance. The hull and the superstructure are created from a highperformance shell, developed by naval engineers specializing in hydrodynamic sciences. They interpret the design lines, created by Marcello Gandini in the Miura and the Countach of the 60s and 70s, in a contemporary way. The hard top is inspired by Lamborghini roadsters: providing sun and wind protection while guaranteeing an outstanding aerodynamic performance. The bow lights are an homage to the Lamborghini concept car Terzo Millennio and to the Sián FKP 37, both distinctive for their Y-shaped front lights. The interiors of Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 are the result of high-tech design based on super-performing materials for weight and function, perfectly married with the best Made in Italy heritage. Lamborghini’s iconic clean lines, hexagon shapes, Y-motif and materials are clearly incorporated into the design, together with the fully customizable colours and materials in the manner of Lamborghini’s Ad Personam programme. Clients can choose from extensive exterior colours and livery options, while the interior is offered in two versions choosing from an extensive combination of materials. The motor yacht’s instrument panel interprets the car cockpit in a nautical style, completely integrating all navigation and control systems. As in Lamborghini super sports cars, details are finished in carbon fibre, with Lamborghini’s Carbon Skin™ used in the sports seats and on the helm, styled as the super sports car’s steering wheel. The unmistakable start/stop button, (two, one for each engine) are exactly the same used to start a Lamborghini engine. The first boat will be available at the beginning of 2021.

A South Fork in the Road - Wining, Dining & Slumbering in Southampton - The Hamptons By Karen Holly Berliner The Hamptons in Long Island New York has entered Phase 3 of reopening and has become a destination ready, willing and excited to have visitors and guests, resplendent with long days and blue skies, crystal clear waters and cultural happenings, albeit all socially distanced - so much to see, do and explore. The warm air has settled in to stay, encouraging guests to stay as well. The Hamptons conjures up images of lunching on local oysters and clams on the beach, splurging on bright red grilled lobsters for dinner, sunning and surfing by day and cocktail sipping in your best little black dress by night, dressed down in flip flops. Casual mingles with formal here and it just plain works - like the Hamptons as a whole. Maybe it’s the unpretentious vibe that attracts surfers and socialites alike. Its lighthouse stands stoically atop a rocky bluff overlooking the coastline of Montauk Point State Park, partnering with all things natural like its beaches (such as Ditch Plains Beach with the best surf on the island) and its blue pristine water loaded with fish. Peppered with a variety of hotels and guest houses along with top-notch restaurants and health-inspired venues, the Hamptons offers you the chance to do absolutely nothing or everything you desire. Do it up fancy or fancy free, it’s your choice. Completely unpretentious and loaded with natural charm and beauty, the Southampton Village portion of the Hamptons has to its credit, nearly seven miles of pristine oceanfront with eleven separate beaches. The charming influence of its

rich history allows a glimpse into this region in years past as it combines with its current renderings. For lodging, The Southampton Inn is classic, unassuming and utterly charming. Surrounded by magnificent estates, historic homes, museums, galleries, unique shops and some of the finest restaurants, The Inn offers 90 guest rooms stocked with high-end amenities with grounds consisting of several acres of manicured lawns and gardens. A 50-foot heated outdoor pool, an all-weather tennis court, croquet and volleyball allow a diversity of activities. In addition, the Inn has a complimentary, seasonal shuttle that takes guests to Coopers Beach, just one scant mile away. In house Claude’s Restaurant in keeping with our “new normal” standard, has been transformed into The Great American Picnic Place, with menus including popular breakfast choices such as two farm fresh eggs cooked to order, choice of sausage links or smoked bacon, toast and breakfast potatoes, as well as a variety of sandwiches, salads, soups and fresh baked deserts. Take your picnic basket (complete with rosé or champagne to toast and sip, fruit smoothies or home-made iced tea) to your table in the courtyard, on the pool patio, the lawns, to your guest room or nearby Agawam Park. The Inn has been strictly following CDC sanitizing and disinfecting protocols, recently implementing a mobile Ultratech UV/ozone light to sanitize guest rooms and public areas with even greater efficiently. Their signature restaurant has been expanded to the bar area and part of the

ballroom, to allow more social distancing. Finally, pets are welcome in selected rooms and children under 12 stay for free. www.southamptoninn.com For a sublime dining option, Union Burger Bar, is celebrating its one-year anniversary in Southampton. With restaurateur and owner Ian Duke and award-winning Executive Chef Scott Kampf at the helm, this restaurant offers a casual and delicious dining experience. CELEBRITIES ACCUSED OF BEING MEAN IN REAL LIFE

YOU WON’T BELIEVE HOW SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE CELEBS BEHAVE WHEN THE CAMERAS AREN’T ROLLING! By Riesa Pascal

CELEBRITY SOUP

Heigl also famously bad-mouthed her own movie Knocked Up in a cover interview with Vanity Fair. Unsurprisingly, Heigl often struggled to find work afterwards which is further proof to never bite the hand that feeds you.

Ellen Degeneres Let’s start off with the one who inspired it all! Ellen DeGeneres is learning the hard way how important it is to be kind to everyone even when the cameras are off. A tweet from one of her former employees was the unassuming spark that now threatens to burn down DeGeneres’ entire career. The tweet read, “Right now we all need a little kindness. You know, like Ellen Degeneres always talks about! ... She’s also notoriously one of the meanest people alive. Respond to this with the most insane stories you’ve heard about Ellen being mean & I’ll match every one w/ $2 to @ LAFoodBank.” The tweet garnered thousands of replies from fans, former employees and even other celebrities. Needless to say, DeGeneres’ future in television is looking a little uncertain as rumor has it there are now talks of having her primetime slot replaced.

Mike Meyers In the late 90s and early 00s, Mike Meyers was at the top of the world! Not only did he experience a successful stint on SNL, he also went on to star in the Austin Powers trilogy and voiced Shrek in the beloved DreamWorks films. Back then, no one would’ve ever believed the happy-go-lucky international man of mystery could have a mean bone in him, but numerous reports suggest otherwise. While he’s known for delivering laughs on screen, the comedian is reportedly a nightmare to work with on set. Some reports even claim him to be a control freak and grumpy. Amy Hill, Meyer’s The Cat In The Hat co-star, spoke of him in an interview saying that working with him was “miserable.” Apparently, he kept everyone waiting and even demanded someone feed him chocolates on set.

Katherine Heigl As someone who recently started watching Grey’s Anatomy for the first time, this one stung a little bit! Katherine Heigl starred in the hit series, but burned bridges in 2008 after being nominated for an Emmy and withdrawing her name for consideration, because “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination.” Heigl walked away from the show soon after and showrunner Shonda Rhimes, was quick to react to her, saying “no Heigls…I don’t put up with bullsh** or nasty people.” In addition to throwing shade at Grey’s Anatomy,

Mariah Carey During her 30+ year career in the limelight, Mariah Carey has earned herself a reputation of being an ultimate diva which, if you ask her staff, is just a nicer way of saying she is rude, mean and difficult to work with. Just a few examples of her “diva-ish” ways are as follows.... In 2005, Mariah made reservations to stay at the Baglioni

Lose FAT & INCHES Noninvasively

Hotel in London, but refused to get out of her limousine until the hotel provided a red carpet lined with white candles. She also stormed out of President Obama’s inauguration ceremony in 2009 because she couldn’t understand why she wasn’t seated at the same table as the First Couple. When she appeared on the first ever episode of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke, a show in which the talk show host drives celebs around whilst singing along to their classic tracks, Carey initially refused to sing and asked if they could “just drive around and have a chat” instead. I guess having hundreds of millions dollars to your name does something to your manners. Christian Bale It’s not exactly a secret that Christian Bale is known to be difficult to work with. Bale’s tendency to lash out at crew and fellow cast members has been well documented, most notably on the set of Terminator Salvation. Apparently the film’s director of photography, Shane Hurlbut, walked into Bale’s eyeline on a day of shooting and Bale totally went off. The backlash in the media was instant and led Bale to apologize, but the damage was done. As if being rude to coworkers wasn’t bad enough, The Dark Knight star has also been known to be horrible to his own fans. On one occasion, Bale apparently said to a fan that they should be “eliminated,” and that “a screwdriver thrust through the eyeball into the brain prevents any screaming.” Yikes!
