PUBLISHER’S NOTE

Dear Distinguished Readers, This new year is off to a fresh, bright new start, full of excitement in what the near future holds. Businesses are doing well, the stock markets is at all time highs, and as for our local markets, our print magazines are also experiencing a high level of interest from advertisers. 2024 seems like a very promising year. Now is the time to believe in growth for all businesses, big or small, and if we do what we can to support our local companies, good success is possible for many if not all of us. If your business could use progress, let us know and we’ll help you reach the growth you need Because the readers of Tampa Style Magazine are constantly interested in local products, wonderful offers, and helpful services, an advertisement partnership with Tampa Style is a great and smart way to expand the clientele of your business. You can share your product with the local audience throughout the Tampa Bay area with our social media advertisement options. For details, contact info@styletome.com. To maximize your exposure at the most reasonable cost, Tampa Style will be right at your side, working with you as we have with many advertisers before. Let’s talk real estate… After studying the local, regional, and international markets, our research team has found that comparative prices for residential condos and homes are extremely lower than those in other global locations. Properties in Paris or Tokyo may be expected to be more expensive than local housing, but even real estate in lesser-known areas in Asia and South America is priced much higher as well. After talking to many realtors, I’m certain that prices will soon be on the rise again, specially when these interest rates coming down this year, so don’t miss the ‘boat’! Act fast if you are in the market.

STUDENT SURREALIST ART EXHIBIT “Fears and Fascinations of the Fantastic” At The Dali Museum: Now – February 25, 2024 Inaugurated in 1985, the annual juried art exhibition, “Fears and Fascinations of the Fantastic,” showcases the imaginative prowess of Florida’s middle and high school students. Hosted at The Dalí Museum, this transformative experience is part of a trilogy of student exhibits in 2024. The exhibition unfolds across Pinellas County from January 13 to February 25, followed by Hillsborough County from March 16 to April 28, culminating in a statewide showcase from May 4 to August 11. This year’s theme, “Fears and Fascinations of the Fantastic,” beckons students to embark on a surreal journey inspired by the visionary Salvador Dalí and the avant-garde movement of Surrealism. The challenge lies in experimenting with surrealist techniques such as visual transformation, dislocation, and symbolism, allowing young artists to delve into the irrational, spontaneous, marvelous, enigmatic, and dreamlike realms of creativity. The Fantastic, as a genre, unfolds through monsters and demons, dreams and temptations, the fragmented body, and the supernatural. Rooted in art history, figures like Hieronymus

Bosch, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Francisco Goya, Paul Klee, and Salvador Dalí have contributed to this genre since the 1500s. Key themes within the Fantastic genre aim to create moments of doubt or confusion, transforming the familiar into something strange. Dalí’s words echo through time, stating, “...I try to create fantastical things, magical things, things like in a dream. The world needs more fantasy.” Through this exhibition, students emerge as torchbearers of this tradition, transforming their artistic visions into fantastical realities. As the exhibit traverses different counties and eventually the entire state, it promises to unravel a tapestry of surreal exploration. By encouraging students to explore the boundaries of reality and venture into the extraordinary, “Fears and Fascinations of the Fantastic,” not only showcases artistic talent but also pays homage to the timeless allure of Surrealism in shaping our perception of the world. It is a celebration of creativity, a testament to the enduring influence of surreal visions, and an invitation for viewers to question the ordinary and embrace the extraordinary.

A JOURNEY TO SELF-EXPRESSION AND FULFILLMENT By Natalie Smith

L

iving without regrets is a profound philosophy that empowers individuals to embrace each moment and make choices aligned with their values. It's about living authentically and purposefully, steering away from the shackles of remorse that often accompany decisions made out of fear or societal expectations. Regret can be a heavy burden, a haunting echo of the past that lingers in the present. Choosing to live without regret requires a shift in mindset – a commitment to learning from experiences rather than dwelling on perceived mistakes. It involves understanding that every decision, whether favorable or challenging, contributes to personal growth. Embracing the present moment is fundamental to a life without regrets. Instead of dwelling on what could have been, focus on what is happening now. Cherish the relationships, experiences, and opportunities that surround you. Whether it's savoring a cup of coffee, enjoying a conversation, or relishing a beautiful sunset, being present enriches your life. Taking risks is another key component of living without regret. Life is inherently uncertain, and playing it safe may shield you from failure, but it can also limit your potential for growth and fulfillment. Stepping outside your comfort zone, pursuing your passions, and facing challenges head-on can lead to a life filled with diverse experiences and profound lessons.

Authenticity plays a crucial role in living a regret-free life. Be true to yourself, align your actions with your values, and don't be swayed by societal expectations or the opinions of others. Living authentically might not always be easy, but the rewards include a deep sense of self-satisfaction and genuine connections with those who appreciate you for who you are. Forgiveness is a powerful tool on the journey to a regret-free life. Forgive yourself for past mistakes, acknowledge that everyone is human and prone to errors, and release the weight of guilt. Holding onto grudges or self-blame only hinders personal growth and keeps you tethered to the past. Cultivating a positive mindset is essential. Instead of dwelling on what went wrong, focus on what you've learned and how you can use those lessons to shape a brighter future. A positive outlook not only helps you navigate challenges more effectively but also attracts positivity into your life. Ultimately, living without regrette – as a playful nod to embracing life without regrets – is a commitment to self-discovery, growth, and authenticity. It's about creating a narrative filled with purpose, passion, and a genuine connection to the world around you. So, savor each moment, take calculated risks, be true to yourself, forgive, and maintain a positive mindset. In doing so, you'll find that a life without regrette is a life well-lived.

It costs nothing but is of so much value - worth more than anything tangible” Kindness speaks the language of love and humanity. It costs nothing but is of so much value - worth more than anything tangible. It’s when you make showing kindness a regular practice that you start to see the beneficial effect it has on your life, both mentally and physically. It’s when you make showing kindness a regular practice that you start to see the exponential effect it has on your life, both mentally and physically. In some studies, practicing kindness has shown a decrease in cortisol levels by producing more oxytocin, and a decrease in cardiovascular-related risk including the lowering of blood pressure.

gratitude and appreciation for the people you love. Acknowledge their efforts and let them know you value them.

But beyond the physical, a simple act of kindness has the power to change the trajectory of your day, and the day of those on the receiving end, as well as strengthening your relationships. The best part is that it doesn’t take much, and a little goes a long way.

• Encouragement: Offer words of encouragement and motivation. Be a source of positivity, particularly during tough times, and let your loved ones know that you believe in their abilities.

Below are a just a few of the many acts of kindness you can practice on the daily: • A genuine smile. This can brighten someone’s day and create an instant positive atmosphere. • Saying thank you often. Science has proven time and time again that gratitude goes a long way in increasing overall joy within ourselves, but it also goes a long way in making others feel appreciated. • Active Listening. When you take the time to truly listen to what someone has to say, you have the power to make them feel heard and seen, not to mention valued. • Offering help. Many people need it, many don’t like asking for it. Consideration is a very special way of showing kindness. • Giving Compliments. It doesn’t take much to make someone smile. A sincere compliment can both boost someone’s mood and self-esteem. When it comes to relationships, whether they be romantic or platonic, kindness makes all the difference as it translates into appreciation, which then contributes to a stronger and more meaningful bond. You can live more in love by practicing kindness in some of the following ways:

• Supportive Gestures: Offer your support during challenging times. Be there to lend an ear, provide a helping hand, or simply spend time together to alleviate stress. • Respect Boundaries: Respect the personal boundaries of your loved ones. This involves understanding and honoring their needs for space, time, and privacy.

• Celebrate Achievements: Celebrate the successes and milestones, big or small, of those you love. Your genuine joy for their achievements will strengthen your bond. • Apologize and Forgive: When necessary, apologize for any mistakes you make and forgive the mistakes of others. This shows humility, understanding, and a commitment to maintaining a healthy relationship. • Remember Special Dates: Remember and celebrate important dates, such as birthdays and anniversaries. This demonstrates that you prioritize and cherish the moments you’ve shared. • Be Patient: Practice patience, especially during challenging times. Demonstrating understanding and tolerance can strengthen your relationships. • Speak Kindly: Use kind and uplifting words. Avoid negativity and criticism, focusing instead on positive communication that builds up those you love. Of course, the list of all the kind gestures goes beyond what is mentioned above. But the power is in the ripple effect. The ripple effect allows kindness to translate into spreading compassion, and compassion is one thing there can always be more of in this world.

THE PERFECT

RED

FOR YOUR SKIN TONE

32 | TAMPASTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

The colors we wear can either make or break the vibrancy of our skin. When it comes to makeup, we should match our lip shade the same as we would match foundation or face powder. Once you understand your own skin, you will know the hues that work best for you. The first step in defining your skin tone is by determining the undertones of your skin. The best way of recognizing your undertone is by looking at the veins in your wrist. If they appear to be blue or purple, you have cool undertones. Cool undertones call for lipstick colors that have deep blueish shades. So instead of an orangey red, you would go for deep, purple tinted red. Also, dusty purple and

berry shades compliment your skin! If your veins are slightly more green, you have warm undertones. Vibrant colors are your friend! You can go for an orangey shade or bright red! Peachy-pink shades are also a match for you. If your veins seem to be a mixture of these colors, then you might have neutral undertones. Neutral undertones basically just means you’ve been blessed with the ability to rock basically any shade of red. Orangey reds, pink-reds, berry-reds, wine red. My best advice to anybody with a neutral skin tone is to rock the everlasting classic Marilyn Monroe red...just because you can!

DIET TRENDS

TIPS &TRICKS As we usher in the new year, the world of dieting is once again abuzz with exciting trends and innovative approaches to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. From the continued popularity of cold-pressed oils to the resurgence of whole30 and the persistent focus on antiinflammatory foods, 2024 promises a diverse array of diet options for health enthusiasts. In this article, we explore the latest diet trends and provide insights into their benefits and potential pitfalls.

1

COLD PRESSED OILS

Unlocking the Power of Healthful Fats

34 | STYLETOME.COM

HEALTH

Gone are the days when the myth of serving cold-pressed oils exclusively in cold dishes prevailed. In 2024, health-conscious individuals are embracing the versatility of these oils, especially sesame oils with their high smoking points. Packed with antioxidants like vitamin E and mediumchain triglycerides, cold-pressed oils are becoming a staple in weight-watchers' kitchens. Whether you're crafting a wholesome salad dressing, preparing guilt-free pancakes, or giving your morning coffee a keto twist, cold-pressed oils offer a flavorful and healthful solution.

2

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY

PLANT BASED

A Long-Term Solution to Weight Management

Choosing Wisely for Optimal Health

The undeniable link between inflammation, insulin resistance, and obesity has propelled anti-inflammatory diets into the limelight. Incorporating these foods into your morning routine can enhance blood sugar control and improve gut digestion. Swap your routine cappuccino for lemon-ginger water and indulge in a beetroot smoothie before your breakfast bagel to boost your weight loss efforts and support overall well-being.

The plant-based movement has witnessed explosive growth, with a $5.37 billion industry in 2022. However, the surge in popularity has led to an influx of processed plant-based meat substitutes loaded with additives, saturated fats, and excess sodium. For a healthier alternative, craft your meatless burgers using natural ingredients like beetroot or chickpea patties. Remember, if you can't trace your food back to its origin or break it down into individual components, it may not be the best choice for a truly edible option.

WHOLE30 A Radical Reset for Mindful Eating

JUICE FASTS Navigating the Pitfalls for Sustainable Weight Loss The whole30 diet, although considered ultra-restrictive by some, remains a refreshing method to reset eating habits and understand how the body responds to different foods. Bid farewell to comfort foods such as alcohol, sugar, dairy, and grains, and say hello to a diet rich in veggies, lean proteins, fruits, fish, poultry, and, fortunately, coffee. Whole30 challenges individuals to reevaluate their relationship with food and adopt a more mindful approach to nutrition.

While juice fasts can be a tempting lowcalorie strategy for weight loss, caution is advised against relying solely on fruit juices or replacing meals with vegetable juices. Weight loss from juice fasts often stems from water loss and is reversible once normal eating resumes. Moreover, the purported detox benefits lack scientific support. Opt for green vegetable juices with a touch of fruit or dates as a snack, not a meal, to maximize nutritional benefits without compromising on fiber.

As we step into 2024, the world of diet trends continues to evolve, offering an array of choices for those committed to a healthier lifestyle. Whether you're exploring the benefits of cold-pressed oils, embarking on a whole30 journey, prioritizing antiinflammatory foods, experimenting with juice fasts, or embracing plant-based eating, the key lies in making informed choices that align with your individual health goals. Happy and healthy eating in the year ahead!

BEAUTY & WELLNESS

RESOLUTION TIPS By Omayra La Bella A New Year usually brings with it an excess of resolutions, which we all hope to fulfill over the course of the next twelve months. These could range from revised fitness goals, to finally giving self-care requirements a top priority. Setting positive goals for the upcoming year is ideal as the New Year has started. Why not include beauty & wellness on your list? At years end, I always take time to review my beauty and wellness regimens as the New Year begins. Consider your own performance in 2023. Did you find your skin care routine to be effective or cumbersome? How is your exercise regimen going? Everything OK there, or have you become weary of your regular training routines? Do not worry if you want to change your beauty and wellness regimens in 2024 but are unsure how, I have developed a list of twelve straightforward goals for beauty & wellness for the new year, covering body, mental, and skin care. Do not feel overwhelmed, start by taking small steps and attempt one new suggested tip a month. Are you ready?

40 | STYLETOME.COM

BEAUTY

Resolution #1: Organize your skin care supplies. Products for skin care do not last forever. Spend time purging your collection of skin care items every six months. Check expiration dates, pass on things you do not love, save the products you do, and discard anything that is too old. Resolution #2: Apply moisturizers both in the morning and at night. To keep your skin looking its best, you must moisturize it. Moisturizing your skin also promotes healthy cell turnover, fights the indications of aging, rehydrates, and plumps the skin, and replenishes the moisture lost throughout the day. To keep skin hydrated, apply moisturizers in the morning and at night. Resolution #3: Remove makeup at night. Leaving your makeup on all night can clog your pores, increase acne and blackheads, hasten the aging process, and result in other skin issues. Spend time washing your face before going to bed whether you wore makeup or not. Resolution #4: Make use of a Face Mask once a week. Face masks are a potent complement to any skin care regimen and are available in a range of formulas tailored to target skin care concerns. After cleansing, apply a face mask at least once a week to restore damaged skin and even out your complexion. Resolution #5: Take cleansing seriously. This is a tried-and-true resolution when it comes to skin care for the new year. Everyone is aware that the foundation of any successful skin care regimen is washing. But we are all aware of how simple it is to succumb to tiredness and go to bed without properly cleansing our skin in the evening. Let’s start making this a habit today! Resolution #6: Stay motivated to exercise year-round. Review your fitness progress and goals on

a regular basis. Continue to set new goals and objectives. Continue the momentum by seeking mentors who possess experience in the fitness fields you wish to attain, like personal trainers. Stay in the company of positive people who share your same fitness passion. Resolution #7: Set up a nail care schedule that suits your needs. You undoubtedly follow some kind of nail care regimen, regardless of whether you prefer short, neat nails or long, stunning stilettos. In case you are wanting to rethink your mani-pedi routine, the new year offers an ideal chance to make a change. To ring in the new year in style, think about stocking up on new nail polish hues! Resolution #8: Reduce Stress. Inhale deeply. Retain it. Release your breath. Let your shoulders drop. Did it not feel nice? Reducing stress daily not only improves mental health but is essential to holistic, whole-body beauty. Prolonged stress on your body can cause various unintended repercussions like headaches and insomnia, as well as increased hair loss and acne. Thus, give that five-minute meditation a go or go for a leisurely stroll; additionally, there is always my favorite de-stressor, exercise! Resolution #9: Make dietary adjustments. Junk food has its place and time, but if that place and time are in your car every day of the week, I guarantee you are not feeling your best. One of the simplest methods to become a healthier and more attractive version of yourself, is to make sure your diet is clean, well-balanced, and composed mostly of plant-based foods. Try to include fruits and veggies in all your meals. The greatest method to guarantee that your body is receiving the nourishment it requires to flourish is to try and eat a variety of colorful plant foods each day, also referred to by nutritionists as "eat the rainbow."

The secret to long-term health and fitness is getting enough sleep, which I have found to work best for me is getting between seven and nine hours every night. Furthermore, when you sleep, your body produces new collagen to keep your skin from drooping and developing wrinkles. So, grab a blanket and get that much needed sleep. Resolution #11: Enhance your gratitude for self-care. I, like many others, have experienced difficulties this past year. We all tend to worry about lots of things, including our careers, money, health, and mental wellbeing, as well as our friends, family, and the environment. It is time to take a step back and look after our bodily and emotional needs. Self-care is more than just lighting incense and charging crystals; it is about genuinely nourishing oneself and being present. Body and mind can be rejuvenated in a variety of ways, from breathwork and meditation, which promote mental peace, to physical activity, which releases tension and stress from the body. What works best for me is exercising regularly, maybe it can work for you too. Resolution #12: Schedule time for gratitude. Lastly, scheduling time for thankfulness is among the most crucial things you can do this year to enhance your beauty & wellness. Although it may seem simple, research has shown that adopting a grateful mindset can enhance happiness, lessen stress, and prevent burnout and poor sleep. Spend a few minutes each day thinking about the things in your life that make you happy or make a concise list of the things for which you are most thankful. You will be well on your way to a more joyous and exquisite new year soon! Make a commitment to follow my tips on beauty and wellness resolutions today, and you will reap the rewards all year long.

Resolution #10: Get adequate rest. Put down your phones and head to bed if you are reading this at three in the morning!

CELEBRITY SOUP

CELEBRITIES WHO QUIT HOLLYWOOD FOR NORMAL DAY JOBS By Riesa Pascal

In spite of experiencing wild success on the silver screen and in television, these household names—many of them being child stars—chose to give it all up or at the very least, took a long break from acting in favor of pursuing what some would call a more traditional career.

44 | STYLETOME.COM

CELEBRITY SOUP

WHO SAYS WORKING A 9 TO 5 IS ONLY FOR US “REGULAR” FOLK? Danica McKellar The Wonder Years As a fan of The Wonder Years, I delighted in watching Danica McKellar’s portrayal of Winnie during reruns of the hit show which ran for almost half a decade in the late 1980s and early 90s. Today, the former child star has shown that it is very possible to have both beauty and brains as she has pursued an impressive career in advanced mathematics and geometric theory. McKellar has even authored several mathematics-related books—with three best-sellers—primarily targeting adolescent readers interested in succeeding at the study of mathematics. Geoffrey Owens The Cosby Show Anyone who was around in the 90s will remember The Cosby Show. Geoffrey Owens portrayed Cosby’s son-in-law Elvin Tibideaux on the hit comedy and went on to have guest appearances on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, That’s So Raven, Lucifer, and more. In 2018, Owens made headlines for embarrassing reasons after the Daily Mail posted photos of him working as a cashier at Trader Joe’s in an attempt to job-shame the down-on-hisluck actor. As a result of the nationwide uproar and publicity that followed, Owens was able to book new roles that even included a ten-episode Tyler Perry project. In addition to other minor acting roles, Owens is now the artistic director of the Brooklyn Shakespeare Company of which he founded. Mara Wilson - Matilda Matilda was a classic rewatch for my family and one that we never got tired of! Before she was portraying an adorable girl who realizes she has the power of telekinesis, Mara Wilson was already famous as a child actress for her role as Natalie in Mrs. Doubtfire at just six years old. She also appeared in Miracle on 34th Street, Thomas and the Magic Railroad and several other children’s hits. She announced her retirement from acting

shortly after her last film appearance in 2000 and now lives a quiet life in “The Big Apple” working as a writer and podcaster. Peter Ostrum - Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory With the recently released Wonka film making all the waves in Hollywood, what better time to talk about Peter Ostrum? Ostrum played young Charlie in 1971’s Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. He was hand-picked for the movie by talent agents when he was just twelve, but shockingly chose not to sign a lucrative three-movie contract after the film was completed. In fact, he shied away from even discussing the memorable role all together. 13 years later, Ostrum redirected his passion for acting to helping animals and went on to attend veterinary school at Cornell. Today he is a practicing large animal veterinarian in Lowville, New York. Nikki Blonsky - Hairspray After portraying the lead role of Tracy in 2007’s Hairspray alongside mega stars John Travolta, Zac Efron, and even Amanda Bynes, the previously unknown Nikki Blonsky skyrocketed to global fame. Having won numerous awards for her portrayal, it only made sense to assume that the teen would go on to continue to dominate Hollywood with onscreen success. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case as in 2011, Blonsky was rumored to be working as a cosmetologist at a Long Island salon. Rick Moranis - Honey, I Shrunk the Kids As one of the only adult actors on this list and arguably one who had an incredibly promising career ahead of him, the world of Hollywood was shocked when Rick Moranis announced his retirement from acting. Moranis starred in numerous comedic roles in films like Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Parenthood, and more. He chose to step back from live-action movies in 1997 to focus on raising his kids as a single,

stay-at-home dad. Even two Ghostbusters reboots couldn’t bring Moranis back to the silver screen, but if rumors are true, we may finally get that wish after more than 25 years when he reprises his role as Wayne Szalinski in a 2024 sequel to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Danielle Fishel - Boy Meets World Another celebrity who dominated the 90s was Danielle Fishel who’s lovable character of Topanga on Boy Meets World sent teenage boys’ hearts racing across the country. Following the cancellation of the acclaimed sitcom, Fishel landed a few forgettable roles in shows that never reached the level of fame she had previously experienced. She went on to dabble in fashion journalism before moving on to a 9 to 5 gift-wrapping gig at her local Bloomingdale’s. In recent years, Fishel delighted fans by reprising her role as Topanga in the Disney spin-off Girl Meets World and today she manages her own line of vegan hair products called Be Free by Danielle Fishel. Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen Full House Of course I had to save the most notorious “I’m quitting Hollywood” celebrities for last! Twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen got their start in Hollywood at just 9 months old as adorable actresses both playing Michelle Tanner on Full House. They eventually went on to form their own company, Dualstar Entertainment, which produced numerous hit films featuring the twins such as Passport to Paris, Winning London, Holiday in the Sun, Getting There, and more. For reasons the world may never know, the twins ultimately decided to retire from acting entirely and pursued a career in fashion. They co-founded multiple luxury and affordable apparel companies and are also members of the Council of American Fashion Design.

Subtle Sophistication and Timeless Elegance in the World of Fashion In the fast-paced world of fashion, the trend of quiet luxury has emerged as a powerful counterpoint to the noise of ever-changing styles. Within women’s fashion, this movement celebrates the fusion of comfort and sophistication, with a spotlight on the allure of loosefitting clothes in serene whites. These pieces champion a sense of ease, allowing women to navigate their daily lives with grace and comfort. The color white, a timeless classic, plays a pivotal role in this narrative of quiet luxury. Often associated with purity and tranquility, white hues elevate loose-fitting ensembles to a new echelon of sophistication. Whether it’s a flowing maxi dress, an airy blouse, or wide-leg trousers, the color white serves as an ethereal backdrop, creating a canvas for subtle details and textures to shine. Quiet luxury in women’s fashion is a celebration of discerning taste, prioritizing quality over quantity. The deliberate choice of loose-fitting clothes in whites signifies a departure from ostentation, inviting women to revel in the beauty of simplicity. It’s an invitation to embrace individuality and self-assurance, where each garment in the wardrobe tells a story of refined elegance without the need for grand gestures. Amidst the whirlwind of trends, quiet luxury whispers a timeless message of style that transcends the transient nature of fashion fads. It is an acknowledgment that true luxury lies in the details, in the thoughtful curation of a wardrobe that stands the test of time. In a world that often clamors for attention, quiet luxury in women’s fashion emerges as a serene and confident statement, reminding us that sometimes, less truly is more.

BELT IT OUT In 2024, men’s fashion embraces belts as standout accessories. Beyond functionality, belts emerge as style statements, offering a canvas for self-expression. Vibrant colors, intricate designs, and embellishments redefine traditional belts. From bold studs to artistic detailing, these accessories become a focal point, elevating outfits with personality. Men now explore a spectrum of options, allowing their belts to seamlessly blend or boldly contrast with attire, reflecting a dynamic and individualistic approach to fashion trends.

KEEPING IT FRESH!

SOPHISTICATED MENSWEAR

From Playful Colors to Timeless Sophistication The exuberant playfulness that has characterized menswear is undergoing a transformation, embracing a more sophisticated and structured demeanor. The once lively splashes of color are yielding ground to a palette of subdued and elegant shades, where black, gray, and brown take center stage. This shift towards somber tones signifies a return to a refined aesthetic, discarding the exuberance for a more mature and classic style. Influential figures like Don Draper, renowned for their dour yet undeniably stylish ensembles, are emerging as touchstones in this evolving narrative of men’s fashion.

Concurrently, the timeless Oxford cloth button-downs (OCBDs) are experiencing a renaissance. A new generation of brands is passionately dedicated to reviving them with an authenticity reminiscent of bygone eras. This revival not only brings back the classic charm of OCBDs but also introduces a renewed appreciation for their enduring style. As menswear navigates toward sobriety and structure, these classic wardrobe essentials become emblematic of a fusion between the timeless and the contemporary, creating a nuanced and sophisticated narrative in the world of men’s fashion.

TAMPA’S DOCTORS OF THE YEAR

In prefacing this introduction, we’d like to offer an observation, which should be of interest to all. Regardless of medical school class rankings, graduates are all referred to as “DOCTOR.” With this revelation, we should all know that when choosing a physician, one must accept responsibility for adequately researching the doctor he or she is considering. Within our present day society, most licensed to practice medicine are truly miracle workers whether they are completely restructuring someone’s face or saving a life. As much as we realize that every physician is an asset to our

community, we also know that some have established themselves at the top of their profession and are considered special; these are the ‘elite,’ the very best of the best. When seeking perfection, we search for the professional who has made it his or her life goal to excel within a field of specialization through many years of study, dedication and determination, continually challenging themselves to advance their knowledge; these brilliant human beings not only save lives but also enrich their communities with a skill set second to none. Beyond this and in order to stay abreast of the latest, almost daily changing

medical advancements, the ‘elite’ undergo rigorous maintenance, updating through seminars, conferences and advanced studies to keep current with new technology and procedures. In adding our ‘Tampa’s Doctors of the Year’ section with this issue, we present a group of physicians, all of whom are reputable, Board Certified in their areas of expertise, extremely well recognized within our community and chosen by their peers. Our objective is to initiate a continuing dialogue with our readers, with an aim toward personalizing some of the finest doctors available.

In 2018, when she joined the team at AgeRejuvenation, she began to fully incorporate this approach and now combines her allopathic knowledge-base with functional medicine therapies.

Dr. Ericsson is certified in hormone replacement therapy for reproductive, sexual, thyroid, adrenal, growth, pituitary, and metabolic hormone issues. Her skillset includes sexual dysfunction procedures (such as vulvar and vaginal Viora, O-shot TM, P-shot [using PRP, stem cell or exosomes]), hormone pellet insertions, scalp/ hair procedures, neuromodulator injections (Botox TM, Xeomin TM), thread lifting, dermal fillers, sclerotherapy, mesotherapy, and laser therapy, to name a few. Her thorough evaluation includes an EKG, a body composition scan, and varied tests for each patient. Testing panels can include hormones, micronutrients, gut testing, foodsensitivity, cortisol, various DNA analyses and a variety of others. Thorough testing and an in-depth review of results is done with each patient. From there, providers prescribe personalized therapies to best-achieve their patient’s goals. Dr Ericsson also stresses the importance of ongoing annual screening and surveillance while patients are under her care. As AgeRejuvenation’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ericsson partners with 10 other providers (and consults with many community providers), 4 in-house nutritionists, over 70 employees, and she oversees a database of more than 60,000 patients. She and her colleagues pride themselves on their unique, individualized approach - reviewing each patient’s medical history, lifestyle and goals. She strives to provide each patient with the optimal experience. Dr. Ericsson works with the staff to promote their ongoing education about emerging therapies - striving to help patients attain longer, healthier lives at any age!

Dr. Torres shares in his writings that “I grew up with stress eating from trauma and a poor self-image of my body. I only became fit in my 40s, after a heart scare made me realize I had to focus on my health if I wanted to live to see my children grow up.”

Doctor Torres believes it’s important to share success stories that may not fit the mainstream narrative of health and fitness to promote freedom from self-imposed limitations in their fitness journey, neither by age nor genetics. In his book Epigenetics and the Psychology of Weight Loss, Dr. Torres shares the account of an elderly patient who experienced a significant reduction in his body weight, which resulted in the remission of his severe chronic pain. When he first met this patient, Dr. Torres was not hopeful that Jim would live long, given the severity of his obesity and the dangerously high levels of medication he needed to manage his chronic pain. Today, Jim is one of the most fit seniors in his 70’s and an enthusiastic exerciser. In his updated 2023 edition of his Drop the Fat Diet, Dr. Torres focuses on a practical approach, providing healthy and straightforward weight loss recipes that can be made at home and scientific information about different diets and weight loss medications and supplements. In Epigenetics and Keep Kicking Frisco, he focuses on total health improvement’s theoretical and emotional aspects. He provides a roadmap on how lifestyle choices can change their gene expression anchored in his personal knowledge of what it feels like to be the unathletic kid in the room. “We must treat the whole patient” is one of Dr. Torres’ mantras. “The mind is a part of the patient, and we cannot ignore that organ system when treating and preventing disease.”
