Make sure that you are staying alert and stocking up on the necessities and usual supplies before any threatening weather gets too close for comfort. Even though it is important to take the proper precautions, I believe that we should not become too concerned with tropical formations that are emerging from thousands of miles away, since they may never make it this far. Don’t let the worries of tomorrow allow you to forget to enjoy the happiness of today. As we send everyone in this city our wishes for safety during the rest of this hurricane season, we also hope that you all have a relaxing and reviving Labor Day holiday spent with your closest family and friends. PUBLISHER’S NOTE 16 | TAMPASTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

Dear Readers, This Fall issue of Tampa Style is featuring the newest trends in elegant Haute Couture with the Fall/Winter fashion runways in Paris and Milan…. We are also starting to see improvements on the inflation and gas prices are slowly coming down again. When it comes to real estate, we see a slight slowing in the market even though the higher valued properties are still rising in price and are hard to get. That means upscale real estate is still a sellers market comparing to the lower level properties that move into a more buyers market.

The Salty Donut is opening two Tampa locations next year — a retail location in Hyde Park Village and a commissary operation in Seminole Heights.

The Hyde Park Village location, at 1519 W Swann Ave., will feature a pushed-back storefront with an “outdoor living room feel,” according to a news release. The Seminole Heights spot, at 5805 N Florida Ave., will take over an oak-lined property and historic building with a bungalow. That spot, which will act primarily as a commissary kitchen, is billed as a “boho-chic, rustic ‘retail production works,’” according to Salty Donut CEO Andy Rodriguez. The entire concept began way back in 2014. Before there was a brick-and-mortar, owners Amanda Pizarro and Andy Rodriguez were renting space in a commissary kitchen and popping up at Miami events in a 1950’s vintage aljoa camper. The pair had then, and maintains today, a fierce passion for a damn fine donut. The pair dreamed of a community gathering place “centered around donuts, coffee, and good vibes. A place you could have a first date, celebrate a birthday, or cheer you up after a long day.”

Once open, the Tampa locations will feature the shop’s time-tested menu plus a few signature flavors “inspired by the neighborhood.” No word on an exact opening date, but fans should start checking their calendars in early 2023.

MICELLAR WATER fact or fiction?

Les Eaux de Chanel Brace yourselves, beauty lovers! Chanel has just launched three brand-new unisex fragrances. This is exciting and unexpected, as the brand typically features scents that are traditionally very feminine. This line, called Les Eaux de Chanel, was designed by Chanel’s in-house perfumer Olivier Polge, and was inspired by three of Chanel’s favorite destinations, Deauville, Biarritz, and Venise. Deauville Inspired by the country landscape along the Normandy coast, PARISDEAUVILLE Eau de Toilette is a lively, aromatic scent with a radiant freshness—the fragrance of the open air. Venise Inspired by the enchantingly exotic city Gabrielle Chanel revered, PARIS-VENISE Eau de Toilette is a composition of shadow and light, between freshness and sensuality Biarritz Inspired by the pure air and energy of the Basque coast, PARIS-BIARRITZ Eau de Toilette is a crisp, vivifying fragrance—as refreshing as a splash of sea spray.

Micellar water has recently become the go-to beauty secret for those who want to achieve the flawless skin of a French girl. But what actually is micellar water? This popularized formula is a surfactant that clusters into balls called micelles and attracts dirt and oil. Micellar water was originally developed in France during the nineties when its running water was too harsh on the skin; however, it has garnered a huge following in the U.S. So why all the hype? Micellar water attracts dirt and oil without drying out the skin, as most products do not contain alcohol. The idea of a simple skincare routine has also received a lot of praise. You do not have to rinse your face after using micellar water, so it is great for traveling or for when running water is unavailable. Micellar water functions as a healthier alternative to makeup-removing face wipes, as it contains far less chemicals. Since rinsing is not required, micellar water can be used for quick touchups, like removing eyeliner smudges, for example. However, micellar water is not the miracle product we all thought it was. This formula initially received a lot of attention for being better for the skin than running water, as it does not have a high mineral content. But is this relevant if we can assume users still shower with normal running water? Micellar water stays on the skin’s surface and does not penetrate, therefore it can leave surface residue. Due to this, particles can simply be spread around the face without actually being removed. So the sole use of micellar water as a cleanser can actually be detrimental to those who are prone to breakouts. Additionally, micellar water often fails to remove makeup thoroughly. If you are trying to rid your face of water-proof mascara or heavy foundation, this is not the best option for you. So what are the takeaways? Micellar water is great for traveling and a good substitute for face wipes. This formula works well with sensitive skin and will not leave it feeling dry or oily. It is also wonderful for quick touch-ups. However, if you are going to make micellar water part of your daily beauty routine, you should follow up with another cleanser to remove residue and avoid breakouts.

ILI PEPPERS

Established in the 1980s, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are notorious for combining funk and punk rock to create a musical style unique to their own. Fans love them for their originality and for delivering some of the biggest classic hits of all Whethertime. or not you grew up with the Peppers, it’s likely you’ve heard the name before. Since their beginning in the 80s, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have gone through several transitions, only to come out stronger and notoriously renowned at the end. Did you know that before they were the Red Hot Chili Peppers, their short-lived name was “Tony Flow and the Majestic Masters of Mayhem?” If you ask me, they made the right choice by spicing up the name (no pun intended). Throughout their musical journey which began in high school, the band lost and gained a number of members, with the guitarist being the prime denominator. Despite all the fallouts, transitions and controversial reputation for being unapologetic in the drug addiction department, the Red Hot Chili Peppers found their way back to stardom and proceeded to produce some of their biggest hits. In 1991, the Red Hot Chili Peppers followed guidance by music producer Rick Rubin to record their album at a mansion once owned by the magician Harry Houdini (also rumored to be haunted). Aside from the spooks, Rubin’s advice served them right, “Blood Sugar Sex Majik,” became an instant breakthrough album, and it only went uphill from there for the band. The album sold over 12 million copies globally and earned the band a Grammy award, thanks to “Give it Away,” ultimately landing the number two position on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Then came the classic “Californiacation,” in 1999 as the seventh studio album, bringing the Red Hot Chili Peppers even more stardom with 16 million copies sold, and to date, their most successful album. “Californiacation” features three number-one hits, “Scar Tissue, “Otherside,” and of course “Californiacation.” Rolling stone labeled it as one of the 500 Greatest albums of all time. Fast forward to the 2000s, the Red Hot Chili Peppers continued to build their musical empire, but this time with a less-controversial and sober twist. In 2010, the band made their live comeback, playing tribute to Neil Young at MusiCares. A couple years later in 2012, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2014, graced fans all over with their presence at a highly viewed Super Bowl Halftime performance. Today, the band comprises of the two original co-foundersAnthony Kiedis, who is since sober and a strict vegan follower of yoga practices and spiritual aspects, and Michael Balzary, also known as Flea, who also left behind his drug-centered past. They continue to take the band through a new era. The two are joined by drummer Chad Smith and guitarist John WhatFrusciante.once began as a high school band is now considered one of the most successful bands in the history of alternative rock. To date, they have won seven Grammy Awards and sold over 60 million albums across the globe. It’s needless to say, the peppers are on fire! And they aren’t about to dim the flame just yet. Catch them as they spread nostalgia mixed with new flavor. You don’t want to miss the beat under the heat.

It is about to get pretty nostalgic in Orlando. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are making their way from “Under the Bridge” to tour at the Camping World Stadium on September 15th. The ‘Black Summer’ World Tour featuring hits like “Unlimited Love,” will be their first in five years.

THE LOCAL ST. AUGUSTINE

“It’s amazing to see our passion and commitment to this project be recognized and appreciated on a national level,” explained Leila Bedoian, co-owner of The Local – St. Augustine. “We are so excited to be able to bring attention to our local community, which has welcomed us so warmly, and we want to pass that hospitality on to our Originallyguests!”built in the 1940s, back when roadside motels were the standard accommodation offered in the Sunshine State, The Local –St. Augustine is currently a 21-room property renovated to feel like nostalgic Old Florida. It features a retro inground pool, flamingo pink façade, kitschy palm frond wallpaper, and seaside artwork as well as the new “Florida Room,” which functions as a hospitality suite, offering up complimentary coffee and tea services.

“Even though we both have extensive backgrounds in the hospitality industry, owning your own property is a completely different experience,” said Leila. “In less than a year, we have learned a lot about what the modern guest is looking for while also making fun improvements to the property such as revamped rooms, all new landscaping, and pool upgrades. We are one hundred percent focused on making sure our guests have an amazing experience when they come to St. Augustine. Exciting changes have just begun! Upcoming upgrades include a deck and more improvements to our outdoor areas and experiences!”

The Local – St. Augustine is also a digital property, which means that it features the latest technology such as an app that provides contactless check-in/check-out and acts as the front desk, verifying identification and granting access to a guest’s room with a digital key using Bluetooth technology, while also providing a platform for guest services. This means that guests can bypass the front desk and use their phone as a key to their room.

The Local – St. Augustine last October, they never envisioned that they would quickly accumulate such a large social media presence, garnering viral viewership, and topping the must-see list for social influencers and travelers alike. And they did just that including being named the 2022 USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest for Best Roadside Motel. The Local – St. Augustine took USA Today’s number one spot out of 20 motels around the country from Arizona to Maine.

COLOR

LIVING ‘N STYLE 40 | STYLETOME.COM

Color can be intimidating. However, you want to step out of your comfot zone. But not too much, and perhaps you don’t know which step to take. If you are brave enough to commit to an entire outfit, great! However, sometimes smaller and more simple is better for you, instead of going all out and making a huge wardrobe shift and buying a neon orange blazer that you are only going to wear once. There are many ways to do this and I’m sure there is a way where it suits you best! Start off with a base color. Some examples are: Navy, black, grey, or beige. Once you have your base color picked for your suit, then choose what and where you would like the pop of color to be. It can be anywhere from your tie, bowtie, hankerchief, socks, or even the blouse under your blazer! These small adjustments make a big statement, believe it or not. And as far as what color to choose as your “accent” color, you can pick any. Find a color that looks good and stands out against the base color that you choose. Another thing that you can do is choose a pattern. Many ties, socks, and hankerchiefs come in different types of patterns and prints that also give the same affect. Next time you have the opportunity to wear a nice blouse or jacket, pair it with a pop of color of your choice!

DON’T BE AFRAID OF

When it comes to skincare, fall often spells disaster for our once sunkissed skin. With the changes in weather, our skin usually goes from oily to dry. In this case, go for products like a soothing, lightweight moisturizer and a mask created to combat redness and dry skin woes.

What it smells like: sweet, spiced, creamy pumpkin (a.k.a. the essence of fall). Fragrance notes: harvest pumpkin, spiced clove and sugarcane. Stay Clean!

BEAUTY

Ditch the summer neons, it’s time to embrace thel neutrals. Neutrals are available to compliment every skin tone and play a part in every color. Browns and nudes are especially appealing and look professional. When it comes to metallics, avoid silver and go with a gold. If a darker look suits you, vampy colors are always approved. Try a maroon or cherry red. Blue can be tricky, but try to find grey or purple tones, like navy. If ever in question, look for a warm tone that will compliment your most natural or darker wintery outfits.

In Florida, it’s hard sometimes to keep up with trends when the weather seems impossible to work with. It is simply just too hot for certain pieces. But there are ways to go around it. Fall fashion is here and we want to wear the plaid, the scarves, the boots, the knits, the hats, you name it, we wanna wear it! So here are some tips to look the part (while not sweating in the Florida heat). Colors. One of the easiest ways to be in the fall spirit is to wear cooler tones, tradtional fall colors. Burgandy, black, brown, taupe, forest green, etc. You can wear a t-shirt, or a light long - sleeve shirt, in one of those fall colors, pair it with your favorite bottoms and you’re ready for fall. You can wear any clothing item, even a dress, as long as it’s in your favorite fall color. Now for texture, you want breathable clothing. You can purchase a knit top with no sleeves. And boom. Pair it with leather shorts, looking the part while avoiding the sweating!

GET IN UNIFORM Fall’s favorite pattern every year

I know it sounds crazy, but there are many ways to use a scarf as an edgy necktie to add more attitude to your outfit without feeling like you’re dressed in the wrong season. Get that silk scarf you have had in your closet since last winter, and give your look an edgy touch with a necktie. This look is best achieved by tying the scarf in either the french knot or similar to the way a flight attendant might wear her uniform. The idea with this accessory is to complement a casual look and make it more elegant for a brunch with your friends.

KNITS, SCARVES, BOOTS Fall fashion that we can wear in Florida! Fall simply will not be the same without plaid, tartan or flannel. You know fall is here when all the clothing stores have plaid on their displays. Its unique pattern gives the casual, cozy vibe, which is why it is so popular in fall and winter. And fashion designers have also started to make more elegant clothing pieces using plaid, steering away from the casual vibe it gives. Of course plaid comes in bright colors too, but you want to go with the plaid or tartan that has burgandy, dark green, black, blue, or

The last tip for fall fashion in Florida’s heat is to accessorize. Wear your tank top and shorts, but wear boots with it, or add a hat and/or scarf. The idea is to keep cool while embracing the upcoming end-of-year season. Because even though we are in the month of Septemebr, it still feels like August. We have to do the best with what we’ve got until it actually gets cold.

It’sseems.time to exchange those open toe’d flip flops for something a little more classy and on trend. Your shoes tell a lot about who you are, so starting with fall footwear is the easiest way to make the transition. Chelsea boots are still prominent in menswear, and we won’t see them going away any time soon. Chelsea boots are the perfect fall accessory because they can bring together an outfit or even be the statement piece. A neutral suede boot can make any basic outfit look stylish. You can even try complementing a leather jacket with black or brown leather boots. Incorporating jackets into your look may seem like the most difficult part when it still feels like summer. Nights get cool and breezy, so it’s perfect to wear a light jacket. Bomber jackets, cardigans, flannels, and light leather jackets are all good options for this transitional period. A classic transitional piece is a denim jacket. Denim jackets have the ability to make any outfit look put together. They aren’t too heavy, so they’re perfect to pair with a basic outfit underneath such as black jeans and a t-shirt to stay cool and still rock the fall trend. Fall doesn’t mean you have to completely cancel out your summer clothes. When putting together your fall wardrobe, look for burgundy, greens, mustard, navy, browns, and camel. These autumnal shades complement each other well and give off the appearance that you know how to properly dress for the “confusing” in-between season. Knowing the ropes of rocking fall fashion when the weather is still hot will have you entering cool weather prepared, ahead of the game, and fashion-forward. Letting go of summer doesn’t sound too bad now, does it?

It’s well known that many movies are based on real-life events, but did you know that some films have actually been the cause of real-life events? Here are six films that changed the course of history in various ways, from overturning a life-long prison sentence to nearly putting one of the nation’s most beloved attractions out of business. If you’ve ever been in doubt of the power of movies, just keep on reading and you’ll be a believer in no time!

By Riesa Pascal

Famous Films That Inspired Real-life Events

THE BIRTH OF A NATION, 1915 As you’ll quickly find out, not every movie on our list has led to a positive event or change. Before 1915’s The Birth of a Nation glorified the Ku Klux Klan, the American white supremacist, right-wing terrorist, and hate group was entirely defunct. However, not long after the film’s release, the KKK was reborn with 16 members and by the mid-1920s, had grown to boast several million loyal followers. William J. Simmons was the man responsible for the revival and he became inspired to do so after drunkenly watching and rewatching The Birth of a Nation thanks to free admission granted by an Atlanta theater manager. In addition to reviving the Klan, The Birth of a Nation also created many of the group's signature traits such as pointed headwear, white robes, and cross burnings. These hallmarks of Klan members were not standardized by the original Klan, but were written into the source novel of the film and adopted by Simmons for his revival of the group.

TAXI DRIVER, 1976 Taxi Driver starring Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese and Jodi Foster tells the story of a mentally unstable veteran who works as a nighttime taxi driver in New York City, where the perceived decadence and sleaze fuels his urge for violent action. Not only did the movie receive four Academy Award nominations, it also inspired an attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan. On March 30, 1981, Reagan was shot by a man who wanted to impress Jodie Foster after becoming obsessed with her character in the film. John Hinckley Jr. watched Taxi Driver as many as 18 times, memorized the script, and began dressing, drinking, and acting like Robert De Niro's character Travis Bickle. This bizarre behavior resulted in him attempting to assassinate a politician just like Bickle does in the movie. Fortunately Reagan survived and Hinckley was hospitalized after being found not guilty by reason of insanity.

THE THIN BLUE LINE, 1988 Sentenced to death in 1977 for the murder of a Texas police officer, Randall Dale Adams was eventually exonerated as a result of information uncovered by film-maker Errol Morris and presented in the acclaimed documentary, The Thin Blue Line. The film presents the case of Adams and questions why he was sentenced to death—later commuted to life in prison—for the killing in spite of key witnesses giving contradictory testimonies. The film centered around the "inconsistencies, incongruities and loose ends" of the case, and even obtained an admission of Adams' innocence by the original suspect of the case, David Harris. Videographic proof of witness perjury along with the film's popularity finally led to Adams' conviction being overturned though he received no compensation from the state of Texas for the 12 years he spent in prison.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, 2006

BLACKFISH, 2013

STYLETOME.COM | 57

TITANIC, 1997 In addition to sparking the age-old debate of if Jack could have also fit on the door, the film Titanic also sparked a revolution of sorts by teaching multiple North Koreans about the outside world and inspiring them to defect. Yeonmi Park got her “first small taste of freedom” by viewing an illicit copy of Titanic at her uncle's house with the windows covered. Due to constant power outages, it took months to finish the film which her family hid under a potted plant in between watches. As she recalled in her memoir, “When I was 7 or 8 years old, the film that changed my life was Titanic. It amazed me that it was a story that took place a hundred years ago. Those people living in 1912 had better technology than most North Koreans…The idea that people could choose their own destinies fascinated me.” After an arduous journey that sadly took her father's life, Park successfully defected and is now a U.S. citizen. Fellow North Korean Jeong Kwang-il also watched Titanic under similar circumstances as Park before escaping to South Korea. He now smuggles media into his former country to continue the cycle of North Korean deprogramming.

The controversial documentary Blackfish questioned the ethics of orca captivity and sent waves through the marine park industry. SeaWorld suffered severe attendance drop-off as a result and major stock losses with even Southwest Airlines ending its SeaWorld partnership after facing backlash. The documentary spurred the passing of multiple legislative bills to prevent companies from using captive orcas, one of which was a whale-specific amendment to the Agriculture Appropriations Act. Another bill, the Orca Welfare and Safety Act, banned orca captivity for entertainment purposes in California.

CELEBRITY SOUP

Unless you live under a rock, you are well aware of the huge cultural phenomenon that was and still is High School Musical. Incredibly, the film is credited by 17-year-old Jordan Turpin as her motivation to escape lifelong confinement in her parents' house and free her siblings. Jordan was one of 13 children, ages 2 to 29, who had been held in captivity by their parents in California. They were allegedly beaten, choked, shackled, underfed, undereducated, rarely washed, and weren't allowed to go outside save for family trips. As such, they didn't know much about the world until they watched the Disney Channel. After seeing High School Musical and other pop culture content, Jordan realized what kind of life was out there for herself and her siblings. The brave teenager managed to eventually escape out a window and find help which led to the release of her 12 malnourished siblings and the life imprisonment of her parents.

SeaWorld blamed the legislation for low attendance, but ultimately ended its orca breeding program and eventually phased out orcas altogether. They spoke of the changes saying, “Society is changing and we’re changing with it.”

So you’ve cut the caffeine, but an afterhours drink at your favorite pub won’t cause any harm, right? Wrong. Ladies, this one’s especially for you: Cut out the bedtime booze.

STYLETOME.COM | 59 Ah, September. The kids are back in school, the weekends are packed with activities, and you’re running amuck trying to get everything done--even if it means sacrificing sleep. You know you’re supposed to get the recommended eight hours a night, but your life (and your brain) just aren’t allowing it. Luckily, we’ve got you covered.

While men can toss back a beer before bed and sleep like a baby, studies show that women who do the same have a harder time sleeping.

HEALTH

Aromas aren’t only used for helping you sleep at night. If you’re still struggling to hold up your eyelids at work the next morning, some natural scents will give you a little pick-me-up (no, it’s not the coffee bean--keep dreaming).

Pop a peppermint in your mouth or squeeze a few drops of lemon into your ice water at lunch for an energy burst. This is the healthy way to keep you moving forward, especially if you’re sure you won’t last another 30 minutes without a Red Bull. And yeah, you might not need that triple-shot latte after all!

If you simply must have a substitute, try a room temperature glass of water or a cup of warm Chancesmilk.are, your workday isn’t quite over when you leave the office. Between picking up the kids from school, going to your dentist appointment and making dinner, you hardly have time to think. As difficult as it may be, take some time for yourself when you get home--even it’s just for a few minutes. Put a hold on all distractions to read a chapter of your favorite book or hop on the treadmill for thirty minutes. In addition to helping you destress, this personal time is perfect for winding down before you climb into Beforebed.your head hits the pillow at night, make sure your bedroom is your sanctuary. Turn off your phone completely before getting under the covers--your emails and Instagram will have to wait. If your phone is your wake-up call, that could be part of the problem. Switch off your favorite digital device in exchange for an actual alarm clock. Sleeping is sure to be easier when you aren’t waiting for the next text or Facebook like. But don’t just stop at your phone: Turn off your iPod, laptop and tablet, too. While you would think that straining your eyes would make them more tired, keeping your laptop open means you’ll spend more time on Netflix instead of in dreamland. Unfortunately, shutting off the phone doesn’t necessarily mean that your brain turns off as well. If you toss and turn half the night while thinking about everything you have to do the next day, you may need a fresh scent to help you unwind. Worried about starting a new job or the state of your finances? Sniff some valerian root. Convinced that car repair will totally empty your savings? Try some lavender oil. These aromas will relax your mind so that you can finally get some sleep.

Sure, the end of summer might make you a bit crankier than usual (who would want to stop going to the beach every day?), but your sour mood may be related to your lack of sleep. Those who get little sleep or suffer from insomnia typically have short fuses, terrible memory and an insatiable hunger. Does that sound like you? If so, it’s time to start taking your health seriously. Lack of sleep can lead to weight gain, depression, and inflammation, which in turn can cause premature aging, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and arthritis. Staying on top of your schedule is important, but it’s not worth the health risks and mood changes that insomnia can cause. But don’t worry, these tips and tricks are sure to help you finally catch some Firstz’s.

(and we know you don’t want to hear this), you need to cut the caffeine. Stick to a cup of your favorite brew in the morning, but halt all coffee consumption after lunch. If you’re a regular Starbucks junkie, you may feel like your venti triple-shot latte only gave you enough energy for one hour. In actuality, your first cup of caffeine is more than enough to get you through the day, whether or not you want to admit it. On average, one cup of coffee should stay in your system for around seven to eight hours--enough to get you out of bed and through your workday. Same rules apply to you, soda and energy drinkers: One and done.

Cadillac has a heritage deeper than almost any other automotive brand. The luxury division of General Motors is 120 years old. Among American car badges, only Buick is older. And at its peak, Cadillac enjoyed a reputation few car companies have ever matched.

With that in mind, Cadillac today unveiled a new banner carrier meant to show off everything its designers can do. It’s such a callback to history that the first press release explaining the car mentions “the artisanship and customization that defined early Cadillac sedans such as the bespoke V-16 powered coaches of the pre-war era” as inspiration. Meet the Cadillac Celestiq – a modern electric car inspired by your great grandparents’ dream cars.

Designers took inspiration from several periods of Cadillac’s history, the company says.

DESIGNED to DELIGHT CADILLAC CELESTIQ EV

Cadillac officially calls it a “show car” to illustrate that it’s not production-ready. But insiders have said the Celestiq is headed for production, with about 400 a year to be handbuilt at GM’s Warren Technical Center research Thefacility.Celestiq bears some resemblance to today’s Cadillacs. The familiar sharp-edged sheet metal creases and vertical lighting elements are here. But it looks as though designers filtered them through an F. Scott Fitzgerald story to create a 1920s-meets-2020s vehicle.

Inside, eventually.the look is sumptuous. The seats are upholstered in chevrons of red leather, deepening to black at the headrests. Piano black and brushed nickel trim look right out of an upscale bar. But it’s 2022. Touchscreens are everywhere. The dashboard looks like one immense LED screen – 55 inches diagonally – but is segmented with privacy filters so that the driver sees the usual instruments while the front passenger can watch video the driver can’t see.

The full-size ultra-luxury sedan you see in these photos isn’t meant for sale… yet.

It once built some of the world’s most luxurious cars – an American Bentley. In recent decades, Cadillac has styled itself an American BMW or ItsAudi.best-selling product remains the untouchable Escalade large SUV. But the company has advertised luxury sport sedans like the Germans do and pushed its V series of high-performance models as its showpieces. That’s leaving a lot of history on the table. But not for long. GM plans to remake Cadillac again. The brand has promised to go all-electric – an opportunity to make American buyers see it in a new light.

Touchstones include “classic architecture such as the mid-century masterpieces of architect Eero Saarinen” and the 1957 Cadillac Eldorado TheyBrougham.come together to create a beautiful car from the front but an oddly-proportioned one from the rear. The front fascia is imposing, with its lighted false grille borrowing the Cheshire Cat grin of the Lyriq SUV. But the rear is bulbous. It reminds us of the Porsche Panamera, but somehow more angular. The Panamera looked odd until everyone got used to it, so maybe the Celestiq’s rear will seem right

“The Smart Glass Roof features Suspended Particle Device (SPD) technology that allows for four zones of variable lighting,” Cadillac says, “allowing passengers to fine-tune their cabin experience for completely personalized comfort and Cadillacvisibility.”describes the Celestiq as a car that “considers the entirety of travel as a curated experience — one intended to evoke an emotional response.” It looks like nothing else on the road, which could well evoke the response they’re going for. But will ultra-luxury buyers pay Maybach money for a car from the people who brought you the $37,000 XT4? We’ll have to wait to see if the emotional response is that strong.

How do you know which one is right for you?

A new and growing development in Florida and other states is the prepaid legal services plan.

HOW DO I FIND A LAWYER?

Make a careful search for your lawyer; it’s an important decision. Your goal should be to find a lawyer you are comfortable with as a person and as a professional. Many legal matters involve personal considerations, and your lawyer often will need to know confidential information about you, your family and your finances to be truly effective in serving you.

Comment: Tampa Style Magazine has received lawyer recommendations from many peers and our readers. The results are presented in the following list and in addition, several professionals have taken the opportunity to present their experiences and profiles to you in the following special feature.

First, make sure the person you are considering hiring is an attorney. You can do this by going to The Florida Bar website at www.floridabar.org.

To begin, consider a lawyer’s reputation. Have you heard people speak highly of a particular attorney’s talents or work? Think about your acquaintances who are, or may know, lawyers. Ask those who work with attorneys in their profession, or someone whose opinion you respect — an employer, lawyer at your workplace, banker, teacher, minister, doctor or other professional, relative, neighbor or friend.

Through a prepaid legal program, an individual or group pays a premium, something like health insurance, to receive such services as free consultations and advice, with prescribed fees for follow-up services. Before hiring an attorney or before you even think you might need one, you should check to see if your employer, union or other organization of which you are a member offers a prepaid legal service plan as a Mostbenefit.areas in Florida also have legal aid and public defender offices, which provide legal help without cost or at a nominal fee to people who cannot afford to pay a lawyer. Legal aid offices provide advice in some non-criminal cases such as those relating to small money claims for wages; disputes between borrowers and lenders; landlord-tenant problems; and domestic relations matters. Public defender offices handle criminal cases for indigent people. A potential client also can use regional, state or national directories of lawyers and law firms, some containing detailed biographical information and client listings. These volumes — some specially produced for consumer education, and others used by lawyers to identify attorneys in other localities — often can be found in public libraries.

Lists of recommended attorneys are also circulated within special interest groups.

The best recommendations often come from people who hired a lawyer to successfully resolve a problem similar to yours. Another check you can do is to see if the attorney has a discipline history — meaning the person has received a professional discipline for violating the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar. You can find out this information by going to the attorney’s profile page on The Florida Bar website. Once the attorney’s page appears, scroll down until you see the words: ‘10-Year Discipline History.’ If there is no discipline, the word ‘None’ will appear to the right of the name. If there is a history, the word ‘Yes’ will appear, with a link to documents regarding the discipline. You can use that information to ask the attorney about this episode. You also may call 866-352-0707 and follow the prompts to check a lawyer’s discipline history.

Aside from this information, some lawyers are now using consumer advertising on radio, television, newspapers, magazines, in other media and on the web to inform the public of their services and charges for certain routine legal matters.

In your preliminary research, you should focus on compiling a list of the names of lawyers who may be qualified to handle your case. Your ‘follow-up’ research will include making phone calls to those lawyers’ offices then visiting one or a few to find the attorney you want to handle your case.

Florida has more than 85,000 licensed lawyers practicing in the state.

If you have questions, call membership records at The Florida Bar at 850-561-5832. If you believe the person is not an attorney but is claiming to be one, call The Florida Bar Unlicensed Practice of Law Department at 850-561-5840.

“That is when I found the Breton Law Firm. I wasn’t sure what to expect but Mr. Breton really listened to me. He cared. He didn’t judge me or act like I was dumb. He took me seriously. He was honest, even about the difficult things that I didn’t want to hear. Yet, I could feel his compassion for my problems. While I wanted to avoid those problems, he took the time to explain everything going on and my options. And then I found that I could make my decisions without the pressure and fear that had been with me since the start of the lawsuit. With his support, guidance, and hard work; we found satisfactory solutions to my case allowing me to finally feel safe again.”

“What I experienced at The Breton Law Firm was a profound feeling. Their commitment to caring for their clients as well as providing quality representation was something that I wanted to be a part of. And so I joined The Breton Law Firm as a Paralegal and Front Office Manager where I now help carry on this commitment. At The Breton Law Firm, we take our commitment to quality representation, compassionate client care, and community service seriously. And I am the first line of that commitment. I am not just an employee of The Breton Law Firm. I was also a client. I look forward to serving you.”

Congratulations to the 31 Bush Ross Attorneys that were selected to the Tampa Style Attorney of the Year List:

Candice firmly believes that knowledge is power and continues to give free legal information to the public on her growing YouTube podcast “Legal Warrior.”

Most recently, Candice was awarded the Association of America’s Top Lawyers, “Top 100 Trial Lawyer” and National Trial Attorneys, and the elite “Top 40 under 40 Trial Lawyer” distinctions. Notably, she attended the renowned Stetson University School of Law, where she served as an advocacy board member and a member of Stetson’s highly competitive and world-renowned Trial Team, ranked first in the Nation for Trial Advocacy for over 22 years. Consistently championing the underdog, The National Alliance of Women in Law honored Candice as a “Top Attorney,” and Candice is also recognized as a “Lawyer of Distinction” in Insurance Law. Candice is selfless in her endeavors to prevent the revictimization of others and to give back to the Withcommunity.100days left in the 2022 hurricane season at the time of this article, Candice approaches the future with optimism. She will continue her charity work with EmpowHERment Community Center and retain the best legal team in the business while adhering to her open-door policy, which is a rarity in the legal profession. An attorney with a heart of gold, she will continually open doors to fight for her clients against powerful insurance companies with verve and aplomb.

The tumultuous year 2022 was no different for Candice and her team, who are continually at the forefront of advocacy without hesitation. Candice has provided food, water, supplies, and “boots on the ground” efforts to those directly affected by Hurricanes Irma and Michael. She leads workshops at St. Petersburg College’s Legal Fair and teaches continuing education courses to public adjusters and contractors to further educate and represent the insured. She volunteered extended pro bono hours of free legal advice and policy review to victims of insurance company failures.

TAMPASTYLEMAGAZINE.COM | 77Special Promotional Feature ATTORNEYS OF THE YEAR Tampa’s

With offices in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and a mobile emergency disaster unit ready to rally in the event of a catastrophe in any state, Candice exemplifies the phrase “boots on the ground.” She may be an aggressive litigator, but Candice emphasizes that her principal accomplishment this year is her mounting ability to advocate for her clients. She aims to give citizens their voices back to fight against powerful insurance company players and recover the full scope of damages entitled to them by law. Silence may be golden, but at Colucci Law Group, the voices of victorious clients get the Candicegold. is a storm unto herself, a vast hurricane of knowledge with a calm core to keep cool in the disastrous situations she is surprisingly comfortable in. She is equally at home on a client’s roof for an inspection of wind damage as she is in the courtroom as a fierce advocate for fairness. She exudes warmth and enthusiasm, and her clients will gladly attest to the ethical and humble demeanor beneath her confident, rock-star exterior. As an impressionable undergraduate volunteering in the catastrophic French quarter of Hurricane Katrina, Candice discovered her calling. Experiencing the exploitation of many homes and commercial property owners by insurance companies after the devastation, Candice shockingly found first-hand that it is common practice for an insurance company to deny, delay, or underpay their insurance claims while leaving the innocent property owner in appalling circumstances and without recourse. Her calling was cemented, and she never looked back.

Undefeated in the courtroom, Candice Rojas-Colucci, founder and managing attorney of Colucci Law Group, is committed to litigating for customers caught in the web of dubious property insurance coverage issues. Candice and her team are highly skilled at fighting back against insurance companies when they wrongfully deny, delay, or underpay their insurance claims while leaving the innocent property owner in deplorable circumstances and without recourse.
