By Riesa Pascal

The countdown to 2024 is on! We’re just days away from celebrating the end of 2023 and diving headfirst into the New Year, but first, we’re winding the clock back to explore some of the best events to take place in the City Beautiful this fall. Here are all the highlights, just in case you missed it! ‘Tis the season to be jolly and I think it’s safe to say Orlando was full of joy—and beer—this November! What better way to kick off an entire month of fabulous events than with the 8th Annual Orlando Beer Festival? On November 4th, thousands of beer lovers came together to experience unlimited tastings of over 200 varieties of beer, ciders, seltzers, spirits and cocktails from over 50 local, regional and national breweries and companies. Located in Festival Park, attendees of the festival also enjoyed tasty eats from the Tasty Takeover Food Truck Zone and live music to keep the party going all afternoon! The Orlando Beer Festival also featured a giant interactive game zone with carnival games, giant beer pong, college football games shown on the big screen, and many more surprises. VIP ticket-holders enjoyed a wide range of added benefits including early entry to beer tastings, 2023 commemorative souvenirs, exclusive food samplings and much more. Proceeds from the event benefited the Plaza Live. Outdoor fun and family activities drew thousands of Central Floridians to Lake Eola from November 4th-5th for Fiesta in the Park! Now in its 52nd year of existence, Fiesta in the Park is the largest arts & crafts festival event series in Orlando. While live entertainment on the East Lawn was a highlight of the free festival, the real stars of the show were the hundreds of amazing artists and crafters that came from all over the United States to display and sell their original work. In addition to mouth-watering food options and a dedicated Kidszone, the pet-friendly fiesta 12 | ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

A RECAP OF BEER, ENCHANTMENT, & CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS AS WE WELCOME 2024

was also the perfect opportunity to obtain one‑of‑a‑kind gifts for the holidays. Following last year’s unforgettable event, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) returned to Tinker Field in Downtown Orlando with the best in electronic dance music, full-size carnival rides, performers, and unforgettable art. From November 10-12, EDC featured scores of the world’s top dance-music artists alongside plenty of fun-filled festivities on stages that represented a distinct union of technology and nature. From the stage decor and sound to the pyrotechnics and performers, many unique elements went into bringing the world of EDC to life. Festival attendees were invited to wander, explore, interact, and connect through all aspects of the event. Now in its 37th year, The Festival of Trees transformed the Orlando Museum of Art into a charming, wooded wonderland filled with sparkling trees and stunning décor for visitors of all ages to kick off the Christmas season. From November 11-19, general admission ticket holders enjoyed enchanting décor, more than 30 designerdecorated trees, exceptional gingerbread houses and breath-takingly beautiful wreaths. Each piece was available for purchase with all proceeds benefiting the Orlando Museum of Art. Made possible by Council of 101 and designed to the theme “Enchanted Holidays,” visitors were also invited to participate in the crowd favorite Entertaining and Design tablescapes raffle, Silent Auction, photo ops with Santa and more. In addition, there was even a fun holiday shopping experience in their Toyland pop-up boutique as well as live entertainment throughout the familyfriendly event. On November 19th, the 17th Annual Festivals of Speed returned to Orlando showcasing 200+ exotic, classic, muscle

cars, motorcycles and luxury brands. The show field has become known for its unique diversity as the event showcases both vintage and contemporary vehicles of all makes and models among the splendor and hospitality of the opulent Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes resort. Guests were treated to fine wines and festive cocktails along with exciting culinary offerings from a multitude of cafes and restaurants located onsite while they enjoyed the world’s most exotic vehicles. Attendees delighted in experiencing automotive designs by Porsche, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Aston-Martin, BMW, Mercedes, McLaren, and more while also enjoying a cigar lounge, smooth jazz in the gardens, awards presentation and other fabulous events. Although many people refuse to play any type of holiday music before the month of December, Central Florida’s resident professional orchestra made an exception to that sentiment on Saturday, November 25 and it proved to be a magical day for all. To the pleasure of all in attendance, the Orlando Philharmonic put on their annual Home for the Holidays concerts and it was a captivating musical experience for people of all ages with two chances to see the thrilling performance at Steinmetz Hall. The accomplished musicians in this year’s program were conducted by Mauricio Céspedes-Rivero and featured the musical quartet Act of Congress, your Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, and more! It was an unforgettable show full of classical selections, contemporary works and seasonal favorites such as “Silent Night” and “Carol of the Bells.” Taking place Thanksgiving weekend and inviting attendees to discover the world around them, FusionFest is one of Downtown Orlando’s most unique cultural celebrations. The 501(c)3 nonprofit organization’s mission is to celebrate the

people and the many different cultures that make Central Florida awesome by showcasing talents, sharing stories, driving innovation and building community based on respect and understanding. In addition to a cornucopia of dishes from around the world, the two-day event featured interactive experiences and contests celebrating fashion, music, dance, short films and more, all designed to honor each person’s heritage while exploring how we influence each other and create our own unique identity. FusionFest 2023 took place at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and was free to attend with food, beverages and merchandise all available for purchase as attendees celebrated diversity, inclusion and collaboration in Central Florida.

AS WE BID FAREWELL TO 2023, ORLANDO'S FALL EVENTS BROUGHT JOY, BEER, AND UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCES. FROM THE SPIRITED ORLANDO BEER FESTIVAL TO THE ENCHANTING FESTIVAL OF TREES, THE CITY BEAUTIFUL CELEBRATED THE SEASON WITH A PERFECT BLEND OF FESTIVITY AND COMMUNITY

A SWEET CHRISTMAS

EGGNOG COCKTAIL!

Embrace the winter season with a delightful Spiced Eggnog cocktail Ingredients: 4 large eggs 1/2 cup granulated sugar 2 cups whole milk 1 cup heavy cream 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon A pinch of salt 1/2 cup rum (optional) 1/4 cup brandy (optional) Ground nutmeg, for garnish Instructions: In a medium bowl, separate the egg yolks from the whites. Set the whites aside for later. In another bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until the mixture becomes pale and slightly thick. In a large saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, ground nutmeg, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Heat the mixture over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it's hot but not boiling. Remove from heat. Slowly pour a small amount of the hot milk mixture into the egg yolk mixture, whisking continuously to temper the eggs. Gradually add the rest of the hot milk mixture, continuing to whisk. If you'd like to include alcohol in your eggnog, add the rum and brandy to the mixture at this point and stir well. In a separate clean bowl, beat the reserved egg whites until they form stiff peaks. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the eggnog mixture to make it frothy. Refrigerate the eggnog for at least 2 hours, or until it's well chilled. Before serving, give the eggnog a good stir, and then pour it into glasses. Garnish with a sprinkle of ground nutmeg on top. Enjoy your homemade Christmas Eggnog! Remember, you can adjust the sweetness, spices, and alcohol content to your taste.

Through an engaging dialogue between objects and images spanning various eras and regions, the exhibition invites viewers to contemplate how these visual representations shed light on the ever-evolving social and historical contexts, questioning and redefining their significance over time. Drawn from the Rollins Museum of Art's diverse collection, the exhibition features a range of artworks spanning from the 14th to the 21st centuries, showcasing historical pieces from Europe, America, Asia, and the creativity of contemporary global artists. 22 | ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

Beyond the Medici: the haukohl Family ColleCtion by Ena Heller Ph.D. Bruce A. Beal Director Rollins Museum of Art In case you missed this Evening to Remember, a special reception and dinner generously hosted by Carole and Jim Henderson at their home in Winter Park for the Rollins Museum of Art (RMA). Occasioned by the museum’s hosting the exhibition Beyond the Medici: The Haukohl Family Collection (On vIEW tHROugH JAnuARy 7, 2024), the event was a special opportunity for guests to meet and hear from Sir Mark Fehrs Haukohl, the collector of these exceptional 17th century paintings and sculptures from Florence. Against the backdrop of the beautiful Henderson home, all decked out for the holidays, and with piano music filling the air, Sir Mark shared stories about assembling the collection (one of the finest of its kind outside of Italy), his passion for education, and the adventure of making art an essential part of one’s life. This exhibition is important to the Rollins Museum of Art because the Florentine Baroque is a period still in need of contextual study, and thus a rich area for teaching, as well as because our museum is the only one in the greater Orlando area to collect European Old Masters. <

MINDSET

"During the holiday season, maintaining your health and wellness goals can be challenging with all the added hustle and bustle, but it's not impossible."

By Omayra La Bella The holiday season has arrived! This is a busy time of the year, filled with enjoyable activities, family obligations, and plenty of festive meals. During this season, maintaining your health and wellness goals can be challenging with all the added hustle and bustle, but it's not impossible. We sometimes stray from our wellness and health routines during the holidays, which can make us feel less than joyful. Sometimes the worst ways to celebrate are overindulging in decadent foods, attending wild holiday parties, and tampering with your sleep schedule and weekly routines. It can be tempting to indulge in the festive drinks and those cheesy, meaty snacks that are in front of you, but remembering the key word of “moderation” will make you feel better. As you navigate the holiday season, keep in mind how important it is to continue being nourished, hydrated, and physically active. Enjoy yourself! With a tray of holiday treats in front of you and the aroma of a cooking turkey filling the air, it can be difficult to take a moment to reflect about "moderation." The truth is that the holidays are a time to celebrate and indulge. I won't stand

28 | ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

here and forbid you from indulging in delicious goodies at this time of year. All I'm trying to convey is that while indulging is pleasurable, don't forget to get back on track afterward. As the holidays come to an end, enjoy the special dinner your family has prepared, sip your hot chocolate, have fun, and get ready to go back to your organized state of mind. This is all about taking care of yourself; it's not just about food! Get a massage for yourself, go for a walk in the park or through your neighborhood and meditate. Each of us has our own way of relaxing and enjoying the holidays. Here are some pointers that I suggest: If you do eat items heavy in calories, saturated fat, or added sugars, limit your intake to occasional modest meals. When it comes to parties and other get-togethers, start your plate with your preferred fruits and veggies and then add modest servings of the less nutritious foods. Bring your best healthy dish to the gathering if you are bringing food. Stay active! Continue exercising as usual and focus on future fitness goals. Why not incorporate a few new exercises into your program

now that you have a little more time? Attend that exercise class you have been wanting to take, work out with a personal trainer, or try out some equipment you haven't used at the gym before. Not a fan of the gym? Step outdoors! Take a ride on your bicycle, hike a new track, or discover an urban park! Take a stroll through the downtown area with your loved ones and enjoy the stunning holiday decorations, that’s always been one of my favorite things to do with my family. There are countless options! Just take a moment to consider more enjoyable and healthier things you can do throughout your holiday vacation days. Keep your perspective! Ultimately, don't stress over missing one or more days of exercising. If a day does not go as planned, pick yourself up the next day and don’t dwell on it, try not to feel guilty. Remain mindful of your well-being and the joys of the holidays, including love, friendship, and thankfulness, in addition to what you are celebrating. These suggestions will help you feel content and in good health during the joyous occasion that is the holiday season.

DECEMBER IN

THE COSMOS December is a magical month full of celebrations, with family and friends coming together to celebrate end of the year events. Connecting with the cosmos this month will help us soak up the festivities and align with our purpose. Winter solstice will be on December 21st signifying the shortest day of the year and the challenges that many will face this Winter. What makes this solstice beautiful is although it is the darkest day, everyday afterwards will get just a little bit brighter, and that deserves to be celebrated. Another significant astrological event this month is Mercury going into retrograde. Lets dive into how we can benefit from this Retrograde and the upcoming Moon cycles this December. WHAT IS MERCURY RETROGRADE?

By Laura Choi Journal, “What am I ready to release and let go of?” Mantra for this Full Moon, “Curiosity guides my search for wisdom, changing my mind allows room for spiritual knowledge.”

30 | ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

The Planet Mercury goes retrograde about three to four times a year. During Retrograde, Mercury moves slower than the Earth around the sun; it creates an illusion that it is moving backwards. Mercury rules communication, news, travel, technology, and information. Miscommunications, missed connections, and a whole bunch of mishaps occur during this time. There can even be shifts in friendships, breakups, brain fog, anxiety, and uncertainty around work and personal projects. Although this can sound scary, Mercury Retrograde can come with a lot of gifts and insights if we change our perspective on it. This is known as the “pause and reflect” season. What this retrograde does is it reveals our shortcomings to ourselves. Whatever you have been putting off or procrastinating will need to be handled

with a sense of urgency during this time. Ask yourself, “What is this teaching me? How can I prevent this from happening again?” These questions will help you grow during this retrograde; self reflection is key here. Once you start noticing your personal trends on what happens to “go wrong” during retrogrades, and you face it head on, you will notice retrogrades will be easier to deal with and feel less chaotic. Remember to be patient with yourself and give grace to others, especially when those miscommunications start popping up (and they will). Significant Astrological Dates in December December 13th - New Moon in Sagittarius to Capricorn and Mercury goes into Retrograde until January 2nd. This New Moon encourages introspection, look deep within yourself. What do you want to manifest? Mantra for this New Moon, “The future world I envision is bright, I see where I can incorporate more optimism in my life.” December 22nd - Capricorn season begins 12/22 until 1/20th. Capricorns are practical, determined, diligent, and good with money. This season will make us want to work harder and reinvent ourselves. December 27th - Full Moon in Cancer This Full Moon will bring a deep feeling of thankfulness and coziness thanks to nurturing Cancer. Remember, Full Moons are for shedding, fruition, and letting go.

HEALTH

YMAKING ou're THINGS

HAPPEN By Maha Chaudhry

You had your moments. The highs and the lows. Some days you wanted to throw in the towel and crawl back into bed. Perhaps, you questioned what it was all for anyway. But, you got out of bed anyway, You confronted the unknown, And you did the things. Whether you are aware of this or not, you progressed in 2023, and that is something to be proud of. So, take in the small yet big wins my friend, because soon enough you will be making them happen again in 2024. But first, here’s to 2023 for all the opportunities it exposed us to, for all that it taught us, and for all the ways it helped us grow. So, let's reflect and refresh with some end-of-year inspirations to smooth sail us into 2024: Resolutions do not have to begin on the first day of the year. It is never too late to begin anything. Don’t restrict yourself 32 | ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

into a timeline mindset. Age? Irrelevant. Experience? Irrelevant. Desire? Relevant. Willpower? Relevant. Everything has its own time, all you need to do is show up and claim it. You are all you need to make it happen. Sometimes we look everywhere for the answers when they are already within us. You do not need someone to come and save you or hold your hand. You can do big things on your own, and you know this, you’ve done it before. So, just start. Doesn’t matter where or how, just start, the rest will follow. Abundance is a state of mind. Are you a rich thinker or a poor thinker? Because quite frankly, that makes all the difference. When you look from the perspective of "there is more than enough in the world to go around," you are living in an abundant mindset, but if you focus on the "lack of," you are living in a scarcity mindset. If you want to attract more abundance in your life, think abundantly. Balance is key. Burnout is not. Move things around as much as you need to in order to prioritize personal and professional time. If that means

becoming more disciplined in time management, do it. If that means going to bed earlier or waking up earlier, by all means, go for it. But never compromise on the things that bring you joy. You need those. They are your outlet, your release. Make the time for it. You don’t ever want to regret not having done so. Health is wealth. Most days we can get caught up in what still needs to get done, that sometimes we don’t pay attention to our aptitude of even getting it done. Like, the strength that emanates from our body and our mind, without all of which, none of anything we do would be possible. Take a moment to give gratitude for your wellbeing, for it’s the very reason you have the ability to do the things you please. Continue to eat right, drink plenty of water, and stay active. I hope that you make the most of 2024. I hope that you are able to look back and realize how far you’ve come. I hope that instead of just focusing on the big achievements, you give yourself grace in the progress, be it big or small. You are absolutely capable of making things happen, and you already have. Happy New Year, friends.

CELEBRITY SOUP

A YEAR IN REVIEW

As always, this past year hasn't exactly been the most quiet when it comes to the world of celebrity news. With 2023 full of shocking celebrity scandals, tragic deaths and plenty of budding new romances—yes, Taylor… we’re talking about you—it only makes sense for us to do a little reflection on the year we’re leaving behind and take a look back at the various stars who took over the headlines in 2023.

CELEBRITY SOUP

A LOOK BACK AT THE BIGGEST CELEBRITY NEWS STORIES OF 2023

Celebrity Deaths

One of the most shocking stories to make our list was also one of the most recent events and that would be the tragic death of Matthew Perry on October 28th at just 54 years old. The Emmy-nominated actor was found dead in a hot tub at his LA home. In spite of a public battle with substance abuse, there was no indication of foul play and no drugs were found at the scene of his death. Having shot to fame as the sarcastic Chandler Bing in the beloved 90s sitcom Friends, Perry will be deeply missed by his co-stars and fans alike. Another TV star we lost far too soon was Suzanne Somers. Though she hadn’t graced our TV screen in over 20 years, the blonde beauty was still loved by many for playing, as she put it, “one of the best dumb blondes that’s ever been done,” on the hit sitcom Three’s Company. Somers passed away at 75 years old on October 15th from a lengthy battle with breast cancer that had metastasized to the brain. Unfortunately, TV stars were not the only celebrities we lost in 2023. In addition to numerous other high-profile figures, we also lost famed songstress Tina Turner. The Grammy-winner passed away peacefully in May at her home in Switzerland from an unknown illness she had been battling. Having sold more than 100 million records across the globe, it didn’t take long for tributes to pour in for the 83 year old Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Stars from Beyonce to Magic Johnson were all quick to share their praise for the beloved icon. Celebrity Breakups

In addition to some notable celebrity deaths, we also saw the “death” of several celebrity relationships… both those we didn’t see coming and those we could see from a mile away! Let’s start with the former and recap the shocking split between Hugh Jackman and his wife of 27 years Deborra-Lee Furness. In a statement

exclusively shared with PEOPLE, the couple said: "We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth." In 2019, Ariana Grande released ‘thank u, next’ in which she sang a line about hoping to only walk down the aisle once, but “God forbid something happens. Least this song is a smash.” Unfortunately for Grande, she self-fulfilled her own prophecy in July of this year when she split from her husband of two years, Dalton Gomez amid claims of an affair with her married Wicked co-star Ethan Slater. Oh well, at least her song is still a smash!

over their two daughters and are now attempting to settle their split privately following mediation. Celebrities in Celebration

In August, Britney Spears and her husband, Sam Asghari separated after just one year of marriage following a heated argument that even involved allegations of cheating, but guess who got the last laugh? In October, Spears officially released her debut memoir The Woman in Me that became an instant bestseller with the sale of 1.1. million copies in the U.S. within the first seven days of the book’s release. Excerpts from the book also led to a plethora of shocking and previously unknown celebrity gossip such as the revelation that Britney got pregnant by Justin Timberlake as a teenager although he sadly did not want to keep their baby. Speaking of babies, congrats are in order for Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker who brought their first child together into the world on November 4th at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. The famous couple announced their pregnancy news in June after Kardashian held up a sign that read "Travis I'm Pregnant" during a Blink-182 concert. The celebrity duo’s newborn son’s name is reported to be Rocky 'Thirteen' Barker.

The last two celebrity breakups mentioned were at least somewhat amicable, but we can’t say the same for Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner. The couple's four-year marriage collapsed in September, with the Jonas Brothers crooner starting proceedings with a filing claiming their union was 'irretrievably broken'. The Game of Thrones star fired back by claiming she was 'blindsided' by the divorce filing and only found out of Jonas' intentions through the media - which he denies. The two stars recently reached a custody agreement

Of course I can’t end a 2023 Year in Review without discussing the biggest celebrity news of them all! Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you are most likely well aware of the whirlwind romance between Taylor Swift and her NFL-star boyfriend Travis Kelce. The 33-year-old popstar and the 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end have continued to dominate headlines left and right amid their budding romance. So now the question on everyone’s mind is if this love affair will end in a wedding ring or another Taylor Swift hit breakup song? Only time will tell!

Coordinated colors create a harmonious and visually appealing look, enhancing the overall festive atmosphere. Whether it’s a cozy family gathering or a glitzy soirée, selecting the right hues can elevate your outfit and convey a sense of intentionality. Embracing the spirit of the season through thoughtful color choices transforms fashion into a vibrant expression of holiday joy and style.

GROOMED FOR CELEBRATION

A Guide to Men’s Holiday Grooming for a Clean Look As the holiday season approaches, maintaining a polished and fresh appearance becomes essential for men gearing up for festive events. A well-groomed look exudes confidence and leaves a lasting impression. Start with a clean canvas by ensuring your hair is trimmed and styled to perfection. Consider a fresh haircut or a subtle touch-up to keep your locks in check. A well-maintained beard adds a touch of sophistication, so make sure to trim and shape it accordingly. Skincare plays a crucial role in achieving a radiant complexion. Combat the winter

dryness with a hydrating moisturizer to keep your skin smooth and nourished. Don’t forget to address any unruly eyebrows; a quick shaping can make a significant difference. Fresh breath is a must, especially during close encounters, so maintain good oral hygiene. Selecting a signature holiday scent adds a final touch to your grooming routine. Opt for a cologne with warm and inviting notes to leave a memorable impression. Remember, the key is not just looking good but feeling your best, ready to celebrate the joyous season with style and confidence.

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club P I C t u r e P e r f e C t b e aC h g e ta w ay By Cathleen K. Bode

Looking for an unhurried, perfect beach getaway with family and friends? Well, we found a gem that’s just 2.5 hours drive from Orlando. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is just 20 miles southeast of Jacksonville, FL and located on a sprawling, 300-acre beachfront site in northeast Florida. The historic Inn offers a world of upscale accommodations adorned in ocean hues and sandy tones. Catering to the affluent clientele looking for that relaxed vibe without the stuffiness. Start-off your morning at the ‘Inn Dining Room’. They have a large selection of breakfast options from light fare to the hearty. Our favorite — Ponte Vedra Bagels & Lox Board with a glass or 2 of Champagne — A perfect way to start the vacation. And, for our children — Belgian Waffles with sliced strawberries, sweet butter, whipped cream and maple syrup, did someone say Hot Chocolate? Yes, Please! For dinner, I recommend a fine dining experience at the Seahorse Grille which serves up fresh seafood, lobster tails poached & chilled just right, and steaks cooked to perfection. They also have a huge aquarium to keep the

children entertained while you sip that perfect martini. If you want a more casual, al-fresco dining experience look no further than the Surf Deck Grille. A blackened Mahi sandwich with a Hayden’s Margarita might do the trick to unwind. Whichever you choose, just imagine the ocean as the backdrop as you toast to the good life indeed. With so many activities and so little time, redirect your energies to a worthwhile pursuit. Perhaps a challenging round of golf to clear your mind from everyday stresses. Rekindle the spark with a simple walk on the beach with your significant other. Build a sandcastle with your children. Or, simply watch the sunrise on your private terrace and embrace the sense of pure bliss. Talk about bliss — The Spa is my kind of thing. Just a few hours to myself, to unwind and just be. The heavenly aroma of lavender and the soothing, massage therapy is just what the doctor ordered. This AAA Five-Diamond rated Ponte Vedra Inn & Club has earned the reputation as the Grand Dame of North Florida resorts, and >

Zimmermann

A Billion-Dollar Vision in Orlando's Sunshine City By Josie Nejame

This summer’s anthem of Beyonce’s pure honey had us singing, “It should cost a billion to look this good, but she make it look easy 'cause she got it.” It’s spot on what sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann have perfected as we watch their technique in ladies ready to wear. In August, Zimmermann became Australia’s first billion-dollar fashion label after a majority acquisition by private equity firm Advent International. Nicky and Simone founded their namesake label in 1991 and the sisters continue to run Zimmermann while they maintain a minority shareholder position. Their loyal following of their feminine dresses, swimwear and accessories can be seen in specialty stores, online luxury retailers and in one of their 58 standalone stores worldwide. Zimmermann chose Orlando’s Mall at Millenia as their newest location for their boutique.

A sun-soaked fusion of Central Florida warmth and Aussie cool, where terrazzo floors meet vintage vibes

Orlando encompasses the Zimmermann lifestyle living in year-round sunny weather. Their newest boutique is as flowy as their beloved dresses and skirts. Keeping with that warm Central Florida feel they’ve added terrazzo floor tiles, modern furnishings, and vintage lighting. Staying true to their Aussie heritage they have added pieces by Australian artist Emily Freddie, Steven Bird Tom Polo, and Nori Lindsay inside their boutique. “We’re excited to open our first store in Orlando. We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response from new and existing clients; it’s always special to have the opportunity to provide them with a beautiful and in-person brand experience. We focused on creating an immersive environment within the space that clients could really dive into and enjoy. The boutique reflects our unique identity, while seamlessly blending the more modern elements of the building, considering the overall flow and layout to enhance the client experience.” — Nicky Zimmermann, Creative Director

romantic, contemporary, & edgy

This month you can find in the Orlando boutique Zimmermann’s Fall’23 collection honoring the brand’s heritage influenced by Austrian painter Rupert Bunny. Bunny’s artwork is printed on flowy skirts and draped dresses. The collection is romantic, contemporary, and edgy. You will also see Resort ’24 and Resort Swim ‘24 collection in store. Think 1950’s local dance halls inspired by Parisians dancing in the street. Perhaps Zimmermann’s move to show its collections in Paris added new energy to it. Who knows maybe Orlando’s Style of sunny weather wears and local charm may give some playfulness to a brand that brings out beauty and lightness in all. Fashion luminary Chrissy Godwin, renowned for her expertise in the fashion realm and a stylist with The Mall at Millenia, is joining forces with the Zimmermann boutique to champion a cause close to our hearts. Together, they are raising awareness and support for Runway to Hope, a local pediatric cancer charity dedicated to developing programs and conducting research in all three of our community’s children’s hospitals oncology departments. Additionally, Runway to Hope operates a family assistance program, providing immediate support to those affected by the financial challenges associated with this devastating disease. 62 | ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

EMBRACING A LIFE OF

CONSISTENCY THE PATH TO FULFILLMENT By Natalie Smith In today's fast-paced world, where change is the only constant, finding stability and contentment can seem like a daunting task. However, amidst the chaos, the key to a fulfilling life lies in embracing consistency. Living with consistency not only provides a sense of security but also fosters personal growth, mental well-being, and lasting relationships. Consistency in daily routines forms the foundation of a balanced life. By waking up and going to bed at the same time each day, following a regular exercise routine, and maintaining a healthy diet, individuals can establish a sense of stability. These habits promote physical health, enhance energy levels, and improve overall well-being. When we consistently prioritize our health, we are better equipped to face life's challenges and pursue our goals with vigor. Consistency in personal development is another crucial aspect of a fulfilling life. Setting achievable goals and working towards them with determination and regularity can lead to significant progress. Whether it's learning a new skill, pursuing higher education, or honing a talent, consistent effort paves the way for continuous improvement. Embracing a growth mindset and dedicating time each day to self-improvement can lead to remarkable transformations over time.

76 | ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

Mental well-being also thrives in the presence of consistency. Establishing a regular mindfulness or meditation practice can help reduce stress, anxiety, and negative thoughts. Taking time for self-reflection and relaxation, consistently, provides the mind with the opportunity to unwind and rejuvenate. As a result, individuals become more resilient, capable of handling life's challenges with grace and composure. Consistency in relationships is equally important. Regular communication, active listening, and spending quality time with loved ones strengthen the bonds that hold relationships together. Being consistently supportive, understanding, and appreciative creates a nurturing environment where relationships can flourish. Trust and intimacy grow in the fertile soil of consistency, ensuring that connections remain strong and meaningful. In conclusion, embracing a life of consistency is a powerful choice that can lead to fulfillment and happiness. By establishing consistent routines, pursuing personal growth with determination, nurturing mental wellbeing, and fostering strong relationships, individuals can create a life that is stable, meaningful, and rich in contentment. In a world that often feels unpredictable, consistency serves as a guiding light, illuminating the path to a life well-lived.

PETER S. CHEN, DMD, MMSC Advanced Endodontics Dr. Peter Chen, DMD, MMSc, founder of Advanced Endodontics moved to the United States at the age of nine from Taiwan. Growing up in America, his parents were very invested in their family’s dental maintenance, and that sparked Dr. Chen’s interest in the dental field.

At Advanced Endodontics, we:

Dr. Chen always liked working with his hands and had many opportunities to shadow at his local dentist’s office throughout high school. After high school, He received full scholarship at Boston University and was fortunate to matriculate at Tufts Dental School in 2001. After which, he headed straight to Harvard Dental School for his Endodontic residency. Dr. Chen graduated in 2004 and has been teaching at Harvard Dental School for the past 19 years. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontics and the American Dental Association.

• Use cone beam CT to assist in diagnosis.

Dr. Chen started his own practice with the goal of being the best patient-serving specialist office in a 50-mile radius. Advanced Endodontics started out in 2009 with one chair in an oral surgeon’s office in Clermont, FL., but today has six locations in Central Florida.

• Treat dry mouth, oral mucositis, and TMJ muscular pain (at our Winter Park – Morse location).

Dr. Chen’s dedication to excellence is fueled by his desire to solve problems and design new ways to execute solutions for his patients. Staying up to speed with advancements in pain control and endodontic technologies enables him to raise the bar, save natural teeth, and provide stress-free root canals to his patients.

• Offer same day emergency treatment. • Perform apical surgeries to retain patients’ natural dentition instead of extraction.

• Utilize Fotona Lightwalker laser to optimize canal cleaning and surgical disinfection. • Use sonic energy known as the “Gentle Wave®” to clean root canal systems more efficiently with minimal root structure removal so that patients feel less post-op sensitivity when compared to traditional RCT. • Utilize red light therapy to reduce pain and swelling as well as speed up healing.

When Dr. Chen is not working, he enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, and their adorable children. He also likes to spend his free time singing karaoke, practicing archery, and attending car shows. Additionally, he volunteers with Feeding Children Everywhere, The Ronald McDonald House, and provides charity dental work to underserved communities multiple times each year. JORGE REYES, DMD Eastwood Dental

Don’t like going to the dentist? You are not alone. Many people simply don’t go because it is such a hassle. But Dr. Jorge Reyes has addressed many of the reasons why people don’t go and made a visit to Eastwood Dental not only quick and easy, but also pleasurable. Dr. Jorge Reyes, owner of Eastwood Dental, completed his bachelor’s degree in 1996 at the University of Puerto Rico. At that time he started working as a dental assistant in a pediatric dental clinic. There he had plenty of contact with what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. A year later he was accepted into the University of Puerto Rico School of Dentistry, where he earned his doctorate degree in 2001. Soon after that, he moved to Roanoke Rapids, N.C. where he worked for almost two years with the Rural Health Group, a nonprofit organization that emphasizes in providing medical and dental services for the underserved. At the end of 2003 he moved to Orlando to be closer to his family and has been here ever since. Since obtaining his degree, Dr. Reyes has been actively pursuing continuing education to take advantage of new technology that helps to provide better education and comfort to patients and minimize the amount of time required to complete treatments. Dr. Reyes believes that informed patients are better prepared to make decisions regarding their health and well-being. Smiling Patients

At Eastwood Dental all you see are smiles. The helpful staff always smiles. Dr. Reyes smiles, and the patients-from young children to adults and seniors- all smile from ear to ear. “When you have healthy, attractive smile you always smile more.” Dr. Reyes says. But

at Eastwood Dental patients don’t just want to show off Dr. Reyes dental artistry, their smiles are often a natural reaction to getting convenient, cutting-edge treatment in a comfortable friendly atmosphere. From the initial computer check-in to filing the final insurance claim, Dr. Reyes’ practice is focused on optimizing a patient’s time. The office is completely paper-less, making for lightning-quick office visits. Faster, however, does not mean impersonal. Dr. Reyes says one of the things he likes best about being a dentist is all the people he meets, and the chance to make a difference in their lives. Sometimes patients who have come in with broken or badly damaged teeth have lived life without smiling for years. “After they leave here they are happy again. It’s an amazing experience to be a part of something like that,” Dr. Reyes says. Dr. Reyes especially enjoys getting to know each patient personally and is committed to not sacrificing one-on-one care for faster efficiency. Each patient is given ample time to ask questions and learn. “We listen to our patients. We make it a point to take the time needed to educate our patients and help them understand their options,” Dr. Reyes says. High-Tech Options

What makes Dr. Reyes and his team a standout is its use of Cerec, a Germanengineered chair-side digital impression and milling system. With Cerec Prime the latest software version of the system, Dr. Reyes is able to provide “One-visit dentistry.” Instead of getting a tooth prepared for a crown, having an impression taken and a temporary made while the lab works on the restoration for a few weeks, patients can have their tooth scanned and a permanent crown made and placed in the same visit.

Computer-assisted dental design is more accurate than hand-poured molds, and cuts dental appointment time down by 50 percent. Instead of two or three, one to two hour visits a patient most likely will only need approximately one two-hour appointment to complete their dental restoration. And because there are multiple Cerec units, multiple restorations can be made at the same time. Cerec computer-assisted dental design has been available for several years. According to Dr. Reyes, the software however, has recently developed into a system that’s easier to use for dentists with even better results for the patient, making it a natural choice for his practice. Combining technologies like 3-D tooth imaging (CBCT) and 3-D printers with Cerec allows Dr. Reyes to perform less invasive and more predictable procedures, minimizing discomfort and extending the life of the restorations. Dr. Reyes is extremely grateful for his wonderful staff, family, children (Mason, Mya and Nikolai), friends and the Orlando community for supporting his dream of a dental career. And allowing 2023 to be the year he celebrates more than 22 years in the dental field, 19 years since Eastwood Dental opened it’s doors (special thanks to Charles Arias, DMD), 17 years since our big step into technology with Cerec. And 27 years since a pediatric dentist called Sheila Hernandez, DMD, took a chance and decided to train a young inexperienced student curious with dentistry to be a dental assistant without asking anything in return and opened the door for all those milestones to happen. Cheers!

JESSICA GARCIA, DMD, MS Advanced Endodontics Dr. Jessica Garcia was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. Her love of sweets developed at a young age, and it wasn’t long before she suffered her first toothache. After experiencing the magic of dentistry and pain relief with her pediatric dentist, Dr. Garcia quickly changed her career endeavors from cowgirl to dentistry.

During her undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, Dr. Garcia developed a love for community service and outreach. She participated in mission trips, such as hurricane relief in New Orleans after Katrina, and served as an assistant counselor for orphan children in Ecuador. While in dental school at the University of Florida, she helped organize trips that provided dental care to those in need in Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. Locally, Dr. Garcia is a frequent participant in the Florida Mission of Mercy - a clinic that provides free dental care to the underserved and underinsured in Florida - those that would otherwise go without dental care. Dr. Garcia served her Central Florida community as a general dentist for several years before deciding to specialize in

endodontics. She discovered that relieving people of their pain with root canals was her favorite part of dentistry and dedicated years to learning the best techniques, modern equipment, and anesthetic protocols. She has been doing root canal procedures for 10 years and is currently a diplomate candidate with the American Board of Endodontics. When Dr. Garcia met Dr. Chen, she was thrilled that they shared the same desire to help patients by relieving their pain and saving their teeth through root canal therapy and microsurgery. After taking the position at Advanced Endodontics, she expanded her training and procedure modalities to include advanced laser irrigation and Gentle Wave technology with root canal procedures, and red light therapy to reduce inflammation. Outside of work, Dr. Garcia loves to spend time with her three children: Aliana (8), Grant (6), and Jolie (4). Together, they enjoy playing sports, doing crafts, and baking. She also enjoys traveling, painting, and audiobooks. Dr. Garcia is learning Spanish and is fluent in dental terminology to better help her patients.

After working separately for different law firms, they opened their own firm in 2010. Their Longwood-based law firm focuses on representing individuals in all matters relating to family, marriage, and children. Additionally, Lisa provides her services as a Certified Guardian Ad Litem, and Roy provides services as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil & Family Law Mediator. Family law matters are unlike any other legal matter in that the parties typically continue to be connected in some way even when the case is over, particularly if they have children. Roy and Lisa pride themselves on not only advocating for their clients, but on guiding them through what is a very emotional process in a reasonable and conscious manner. Family law carries with it various complex

issues that may involve paternity, divorce, children, premarital or postnuptial agreements, child support, alimony, modifications, enforcement, domestic violence, etc. The Smiths strive to provide their clients with the knowledge and confidence to navigate these difficult matters. “Even in cases that are purely economic in nature, it is common for people to carry significant emotions if it is a familyrelated conflict. When children are involved, the emotions rise even higher. It is very important to us that our clients feel heard and cared for throughout their case,” states Roy. Outside of the office, the Smiths have dedicated themselves to their three daughters and to serving the community through their long-standing commitment to the arts. For the past several years, the Smiths have devoted substantial time to Lake Brantley High School‘s Band, Chorus, and Theatre departments. Lisa states, “Volunteering our time gives us a nice balance to our lives. We spend the majority of the week litigating, negotiating, counseling, and advocating for our clients, some of which are going through very strenuous times. Then we are able to shift focus, take off our lawyer hats, and simply become supportive parents doing something we love... helping children.”

JOHN R. WALKER President/ Walker Mobility Scooter Rentals A life long resident of Central Florida, Walker Mobility Scooter Rental’s President John R Walker feels gratitude and wonderment having spent his life in The City Beautiful. John recalls, “Remember driving down I-4 and all you would smell is orange blossoms and Merita Bread, dreamy childhood memories indeed.” After graduating from Lake Brantley High and Flagler College he set forth on a musicians lifestyle landing him as a session drummer at Parc Studios located in Altamonte Springs. There he worked with many of Orlando’s musical luminaries and was asked to drum for Grammy award winning band A Flock of Seagulls. John explains, “It was cool. I was doing session work with Eddie the guitarist, and he asked me if I wanted to become the drummer. Of course, I was over the moon, it was RockNRoll!!” A few successful tours later after arriving home his father asked him if he was interested in starting a tourism based medical equipment rental company. John shares, “At the time there was only one company in all of Orlando providing this service. Dad and I started with 7 scooters and a dream.” That dream took Walker Mobility to unimaginable firsts and heights. For well over a decade they were the biggest rental company in North America. Mr. Walker credits the company’s longevity to always improving your guest services and providing better equipment than the competition. He also credits his employees over the years. The company has little employee turnover. John sees employees as extended family. “Take care of your employees, and they take care of your business it’s that simple.” With plans to expand into another market John is not resting on his accomplishments. What motivates him is building from the ground up. He still enjoys the ups and downs of entrepreneurial life.

Castle and Connelly had named Dr. White’s practice one of the top orthopedic practices the United States, and U.S. News & World Report has named Dr. White and his practice as one of the top orthopedic practices in the southeast United States. Dr. White continues to actively see patients and perform surgery. Dr. White thinks his most important contribution to Central Florida is the addition and mentoring of other young preeminent surgeons that have joined the practice. Doctors Brian White, Dr. Anup Patel, Dr. Nick Newsum and Dr. Cody Hillin were all recruited by Dr. White from prestigious hand surgery programs and each has contributed immeasurably to the services and reputation of Orlando Hand Surgery Associates. As Dr. White frequently says always hire people that are better than you are. He certainly feels that this is the case. Dr. White’s practice, Orlando Hand Surgery Associates, remains active in teaching and research as well as direct patient care in all problems of the upper extremity including the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder throughout Central Florida.
