TOYS

Bentley Mulliner has revealed the all-new Bacalar*. The rarest two-door Bentley of the modern era, and the ultimate expression of two-seat, open-air luxury, this definitive Grand Tourer spearheads a return to coachbuilding by Bentley Mulliner – the oldest coachbuilder in the world.

been repeated around the interior, including the steering wheel controls, media and climate controls and even the intricate speaker frets. A unique steering wheel, leather strap door and seat releases, special digital instrumentation and a unique key design enhance the luxurious cabin still further.

Just 12 examples of this striking, limited edition model are being created, guaranteeing rarity and exclusivity, and offering supreme luxury and breathtaking performance.

The cabin can be completely specified by the customer, working with Mulliner, and new materials available to choose include Riverwood, British wool, Dark Bronze and Midnight Black Titanium.

A DYNAMICALLY-SCULPTED DESIGN FOR THE FUTURE The Bacalar draws on design DNA from the beautifully sculpted, award-winning EXP 100 GT, and propels Bentley into a new century of extraordinary, as the most dynamically sculpted model from Bentley’s designers to date. A genuine ‘roofless’ Barchetta, Bacalar is a luxurious, two-seat, open-air performance car, the likes of which has never been seen before. A UNIQUE WRAPAROUND COCKPIT Inside Bacalar’s cabin, Bentley craftspeople have created a cockpit like no other. The architecture of the Bacalar has allowed Bentley Mulliner designers to create a ‘wraparound’ cockpit design that not only blends the interior and exterior together but also emphasizes the two-seater character. The wraparound design flows from a steeply angled centre console into the dashboard, before sweeping into the door panels. These then continue towards a uniquely styled, semi-enclosed luggage compartment behind the seats. These two luggage ‘pods’ envelope the seats creating a true two-seater cabin. Every detail has been uniquely designed: a new, knurled pattern was created for the iconic Bentley ‘bullseye’ vents seen in our current and past models. The new knurling pattern has

AN ADVANCED DASHBOARD At the heart of Bacalar’s dashboard is an advanced, fully digital, driver-focussed instrument panel and the now famous Bentley Rotating Display. This digital MMI display has been elegantly designed by Bentley with a customer-configurable home screen. For Bacalar, the Rotating Display features rare Riverwood veneer, a material first introduced in the EXP 100 GT concept, which rotates when the engine is started to reveal the highresolution touchscreen. Three configurable windows are able to display the driver’s preferred functions, such as telephone, media and navigation. The interface is designed to operate like a smartphone, with menus that are structured and simple to follow. The third side of the Bentley Rotating Display presents three, elegant analogue dials that display outside temperature, a compass and chronometer. Each car also features a unique clock face with individual one-of-12 badging. TRULY COACHBUILT – BACALAR OFFERS UNPARALLELED CUSTOMIZATION

discovery, representing a return to the exciting early years of Bentley, allowing owners to help shape the car of their dreams. Every element of Bacalar has been carefully and meticulously designed with a depth and detail, from the use of precious inlays and unique finishes to the driver controls, to the 148,199 individual stitches needed to embroider the unique Bacalar quilt on each seat. Owners will find details and parts in their Bacalar not seen before on a Bentley. The exterior look of each model will be completed in collaboration with individual customers, who are able to further personalize their car, choosing from rare paint options, exterior treatments and design themes. The interior can also be finished in an almost infinite number of ways, with each car cocreated and commissioned in conjunction with the Bentley Mulliner team. Every car will be individually specified and finished using any of the many Bentley colors and materials available. The Bentley Mulliner Bacalar is not available to buy: however, you can create your own Bentley with Mulliner, with the support of Bentley’s creative experts and craftspeople. Speak with your local Bentley dealer to find out more.

JUST 12 EXAMPLES OF THIS STRIKING, LIMITED EDITION MODEL ARE BEING CREATED, GUARANTEEING RARITY AND EXCLUSIVITY, AND OFFERING SUPREME LUXURY AND BREATHTAKING PERFORMANCE.

First, a quick coronavirus check-in: • Most of us will get it. • The majority of those who get it will recover just fine. • We need to stay home now in order not to overwhelm our healthcare system all at once and cause more deaths due to lack of personnel or equipment.

Somehow, these bullet points are related to each other. From international data, it looks like having diabetes or heart disease significantly increases your risk of dying from coronavirus. So, is there any good news? Well, much of heart disease and diabetes is related to our lifestyle, and now that many of us are stuck at home, we have a chance to change our behavior. While school is suspended, gone are the days of running from work to pick up kids to kids’ activities to some drive through. Or perhaps you spent all day at work, getting a meal delivery or two, while practically chained to your desk. And while coronavirus is scary, the truth is that many more of us are at greater risk over the long term from our unhealthy lifestyles.

Second, a quick preventive medicine check-in: • The leading cause of death in the U.S. is heart disease. • About 100 million Americans have diabetes or pre-diabetes. • Nearly 40% of our population is obese and being obese is one of the biggest risk factors for getting heart disease and diabetes.

looking for ways to spend their spare time away from crowds. Should we read more? Exercise? Netflix and chill? Or perhaps, cook? While reading, exercising, and watching more T.V. (or whatever “Netflix and chill” means to you) might be intuitive, sadly, many of us have forgotten how to cook. Luckily, we have YouTube. My children have taught me that you can learn how to do virtually anything by watching YouTube, and cooking is no different.

Most Americans get 30-50% of their calories from eating out, and that, quite frankly, is killing us. And it has nothing to do with coronavirus. We are consuming more calories than we should and eating more processed food than we ought to. Over the next weeks to months, life will be dramatically altered, but it doesn’t have to be all bad. We are being forced to slow down. And when it comes to food, slower can be better.

Many people consider themselves “bad” cooks because they never learned how and quickly become discouraged when things don’t turn out perfectly the first time. But cooking, like anything else, is a skill, and practice makes perfect (or at least edible). Start with small, easy projects. Grill a chicken breast or make a simple sauce. Don’t become disappointed if things don’t initially taste as good as your local take-out place. You will learn and get better if you keep trying. And honestly, you will need to use salt and butter or oil. You just will. It’s okay. My grandmother told me I had to if I wanted anyone to eat what I made, and she wasn’t wrong.

Enter the “slow food” movement which began several decades ago and encourages people across the world to slow down and cook from scratch. While that idea may have been untenable as we were running around from one obligation to the next, now people seem to be

Almost anything you make at home, even with salt and butter, will be healthier than what you would eat out (they are using much more than you ever would at home). Start with fresh ingredients and stay as additive-free as possible. The closer to the Earth you eat, the better it is

for you. The Mediterranean Diet gets a lot of press for being healthy, and it is, but the truth is that any so-called traditional diet that focuses on whole ingredients, is pretty good for you. So, make what you like—Italian, Chinese, Latin American, Caribbean cuisine, or something completely different. But make it from scratch. And use lots of veggies. The coronavirus will be a bad memory in a year or two. All that will remain are the lessons it taught us. Hopefully, we will have learned how to better prepare, how to look out for one another more, and how to keep our cool in a crisis. And just maybe, we will have also discovered how to live healthier by learning a few signature meals we can invite friends over to share. CELEBRITY SOUP

Bizarre Wills OF THE RICH & FAMOUS Check out the strange items and requests included in celebrity wills By Riesa Pascal

Did you know that the inventor of the Pringles packaging design actually had his ashes buried in a Pringles can? The rich and famous are notorious for their eccentric demands, so it makes sense that many of them also have some questionable requests in death. From strict dress codes to creepy seance guidelines... all that and more are on this list of bizarre wills of the rich and famous.

28

| ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

CELEBRITY SOUP

Napoleon Bonaparte, 52 (1769-1821) It’s common knowledge that Napoleon Bonaparte had some issues. If having an entire complex named after him isn’t proof enough, take a look at his last will and testament. Not only did Napoleon request that his head be shaved after his death, he also wanted his hair divided among his friends. Benjamin Franklin, 84 (1706-1790) Benjamin Franklin was fond of many modern innovations, but apparently fashion wasn’t one of them. His last will generously left a diamond encrusted portrait of King Louis XVI for his daughter Sarah. The catch? She must never remove the 408 diamonds and engage in “the expensive, vain, and useless fashion of wearing jewels in this country.” Unfortunately his posthumous plot didn’t work. Once in her hands, Sarah removed the outer ring of diamonds to finance an excursion to France. Hey, at least she didn’t turn them into jewelry! Charles Dickens, 58 (1812-1870) Benjamin wasn’t the only one who had strong opinions on fashion. In his will, English author Charles Dickens made sure to write out the strict wardrobe requirements that must be adhered to by all guests of his memorial service. He requested that “those attending my funeral wear no scarf, cloak, black bow, long hat-band, or other such revolting absurdity.” Dusty Springfield, 60 (1939-1999) I used to think I was a crazy cat lady, but I can’t hold a flame to ‘60s pop singer Dusty Springfield. Dusty’s will demanded that her cat Nicholas be fed imported baby food, given an indoor tree house, be serenaded each night with Dusty’s old records, have his bed lined with Dusty’s pillowcase and nightgown, and get married to a friend’s female cat. Believe it or not, all her wishes came true. William Shakespeare, 52 (1564-1616) William Shakespeare may be known for his romantic playwrights, but apparently the romance didn’t extend to his personal life. Shakespeare’s will left his beloved wife his “second-best bed.” Not his first-best bed. Not his third-best bed. His second-best bed. What happened to the first-best bed, you ask? Who knows! It’s not like he was going to use it anymore. Perhaps we should hold a seance and ask him.

developed a secret code so that they would know if it was truly his spirit that was present. Harry died on Halloween of 1926 and Bess held séances every year on the date of his death, but was never successful. Tupac Amaru Shakur, 25 (1971-1996) Tupac was just 25 years old when he was tragically killed, but he achieved much success in his short lifetime. One of his many hit songs mentioned a bizarre final wish of his. In the lyrics to “Black Jesus” the rapper expressed a desire for his friends to smoke his ashes and believe it or not, they actually did! Several of his closest friends mixed his ashes with a joint and smoked it in tribute to their late buddy. Marilyn Monroe, 36 (1926-1962) Despite being one of the world’s most famous icons, Marilyn Monroe was still a troubled soul. Although her mother and halfsister were alive at the time of her death, Marilyn left nearly her entire estate to her acting coach, Lee Strasberg. This included all of her personal effects and clothing, which ended up collecting dust in Lee’s basement until he himself died in 1982. At that time, Lee’s second wife inherited the Marilyn Monroe estate and hired CMG Worldwide to begin licensing Marilyn Monroe products for a profit.

Not only did Napoleon request that his head be shaved after his death, he also wanted his hair divided among his friends.

Harry Houdini, 52 (1874-1926) Speaking of seances… at the time of his death, famed magician and escape artist Harry Houdini had become very interested in spiritualism and the afterlife. His will asked that his wife, Bess, hold a seance every year to try to contact his spirit. The two even

NIALL HORAN N I C E T O M E E T YA T O U R L I V E I N O R L A N D O By Courtney Caggiano

On April 25, the Amway Center in Orlando welcomes singer-songwriter Niall Horan with his Nice To Meet Ya Tour, as the artist celebrates success of his second solo album after a legendary run with One Direction. The only Irish-born member of One Direction, Horan’s career began after a whirlwind ride on television. Along with his One Direction bandmates, Horan was thrown into the spotlight on the British televised singing competition, The X Factor, where he joined forces with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson, who would later become one of the most successful boy bands in the world. Today, ten years later, Horan has carved his own path as a solo artist, focusing on the aspects of music that always felt like home to the now-26-yearold—authenticity and truth. With his second album, Heartbreak Weather, the singer is continuing travel further away from the pop expectations that his time in One Direction have placed upon him, meandering down rough roads and scenic terrain that echo back to the heart of music that lit a fire within Horan’s spirit long before he became part of the past decade’s biggest Brit-pop sensation. Even in his early days of One Direction, Horan always stood out as the guy with the guitar, carrying along his six string and adding a touch of rawness and reflection to the band’s live performances. In 2017, Horan finally got the chance to cultivate this musicality with his debut solo project, Flicker. After releasing his first ever single as a solo singer, “This Town,” Horan followed the massive support from his fans with two more chart-topping tracks, “Slow

Hands” and “Too Much to Ask,” which both shed light on a new side of the songwriter that the world had not yet seen of him as simply a member of a boy band. With songs that are charismatic and personal, relaxed yet passionate, Horan has proven himself as a true writer at heart, with lyrics that reflect on the more vulnerable moments of life and reimagine the world with Horan’s idiosyncratic sense of idyllic charm. Now, in Heartbreak Weather, Horan has nurtured that anecdotal quality within his writing as his storytelling prowess even proves more appealing, with notes of nostalgia and throwback tunes that harken to the golden days of 80s rockstars—from Springsteen to The Eagles, Horan’s vintage influences are readily heard on this modern-yet-mythic collection of tracks. With hits like “Nice To Meet Ya” and “Put a Little Love on Me” already filling the radio airwaves, Heartbreak Weather has once again put Horan on the map as an old soul with youthful appeal that is a force to be reckoned with. With 17 tour stops across North America, Horan’s Nice To Meet Ya Tour has put Orlando near the top of the list, as the fourth show in the run. Horan will be joined by Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi, who is already climbing the charts in his own right with his hit single, “Someone You Loved,” and pop singer Fletcher. Get your tickets now to see Niall Horan in this mesmerizing night of music with the Irish icon.

BEAUTY

Clavi-What?! Clavicut. The hair trend is making a big comeback this season. When you first hear the word “clavicut,” it might sound like something out of a Tim Burton movie, but the haircut is more flattering than shocking. Short enough to pass as a long bob, the haircut hits just at the collarbone, or clavicle, making it cute enough as a fresh look for a new season but just long enough to put in a ponytail on lazy days.

CONSTELLATION PIERCING

The best part about the “clavicut” is that it’s suitable for all hair types and face shapes. Longer strands graze the nape of your neck, while shorter strands frame your face, giving you an edgy yet sophisticated look. It works for straight, wavy, curly, and coily hair, but especially the latter two. As it gets warmer and more humid, our hair starts to swell the “clavicut” trims away the problem by adding layers and letting your nape breath in the warmer months.

Personalized ear-bling on another level.

While this look will be popular this season, it’s not entirely new. Long before last season’s shaggy and blunt bob, or Victoria Beckham’s iconically popularized bob and lob (long bob) looks, the “clavicut” was popular once upon a time. It was only a matter of time before the refreshing cut made a comeback, and spring is the perfect season for trends to reappear stronger than ever.

Constellation earrings are a cluster of earrings across your ear that form a pattern. In the literal sense, you could curate your ear with celestial-themed earrings, birthstones, or your horoscope pattern. But the point is to mix and match placement of shapes, metals, and gems to create a look completely unique to you.

If you want your hair to breathe, feel lighter, but still look cool and sophisticated, head to your nearest Edward Scissorhands-like hairdresser to change up your look this season.

Detailed jewelry is a way to show off your unique personality, and though we’re all familiar with classic ear adornment, constellation piercing allows for multiple studs, hoops, and statement earrings to, well, make a statement. Here’s how these ear-studded accessories are sending everyone into a frenzy.

Before you take the plunge and get pierced, make sure you are happy with your design. Consult a professional tattoo or piercing artist to create your constellation piercing. Play with the spacing and height of your piercing to cover your ear-scape. You can also add piercing in the middle of your ear and along the cartilage. Choose from gold, silvers, and

bronzes, hoops, stars, gems, and studs. Mixing it up keeps it original to your style. If you want to show both your ears some sparkly love, keep in mind that our ears rarely match, so we can’t expect constellation earrings to be a perfect match either. That being said, there’s no right or wrong way to create constellation piercing. The beauty of them is that you can frame and curate your constellation clusters to your preference. It’ll look good no matter what. Constellation piercing may not be for everyone though, so it’s best to consult a professional tattoo or piercing artist. Due to those pesky things called genetics, some of us have more surface area around our ears and lobes, while others, simply put, do not. But don’t be disheartened! With a professional’s guidance, you can still flaunt a smaller cluster of constellation piercing to accentuate your accessory-game.

New Nails, New Me By Khadejah Khan Nail art in recent years is what Juicy Couture tracksuits were in the early 2000s: THEY’RE EVERYWHERE. Nail art’s popularity has made it more creative and intricate than ever. It’s the one thing you can admire without looking in a mirror, and others take notice too. Here are 3 new nail trends that will have you feeling claws-out confident.

ORLANDOSTYLE MAGAZINE.COM

Negative Space. This nail trend is the only negativity you should have in your life. Using your natural nail with a clear top as the base coat (or a nude hue) allows your nail art to have a long-lasting effect. It doesn’t show regrowth, and it allows you to personalize your art. Experiment with different designs, like dots, stars, stripes, bold colors, or muted tones. Whatever the nail art of your choice, this minimalist look will have you turn that negative space into positive taste. 3D Textures. From flowers, branches, and leaves to ring in spring time, this trend brings your nails to life with some texture. Add accents of rhinestones to frame the nail or just a few for the light reflection to make your nails sparkle. Customize your nails to fit your style and sensibilities: go full-out bling with gems or subtle with understated adornments. Add a new dimension to your nail art this season, literally! The ‘80s. The era of bold colors, asymmetrical designs, and wild hairdos has risen from the dead to influence this latest nail trend. Vibrant colors are revived this season, like bright corals, pinks, reds, and oranges. After all, hot weather requires hotter colors to match. Sharp diagonal lines and zig zags are painted in color block chunks and understated outlines (think Saved by the Bell title card). Nail art is embracing full ‘80s glam and shows no signs of quieting down.

LUIS DEL RIO, D.C. Peak Health

Dr. Luis Del Rio realized early on in life he wanted to serve others when one night he observed his mother crawling on her knees across the house due to her debilitating back pain. He thought, “There must be a way I can prevent this from ever happening to her again.” That experience lead him to helping others like his mother to get out of pain with the most noninvasive, non-surgical approaches to medical care and today he has successfully helped thousands of patients reach their goals of having a better quality life and become pain free without drugs or surgery. Early on during his career he realized that he had a special gift for understanding the human body and being able to break down complex ideas into easily understandable terms. This passion for how the body works moved him into continual studies, research, and focus on specifically peripheral neuropathy and knee pain. He has been focusing on these areas of specialty for over 14 years.

Peripheral neuropathy is a problem with the functioning of the nerves outside the spinal cord. Symptoms of peripheral neuropathy may include numbness, weakness, burning pain (especially at night) and loss of reflexes. When treating peripheral neuropathy, the goal is to reawaken the nerves, or remove any blockage so that the nerves once again function properly and send the appropriate signals to the brain. Common symptoms of peripheral neuropathy are: • Pain and numbness • Loss of sensation • Tingling • Burning pain sensation

• • • • • •

Sharp shooting pain Lessened sensitivity in arms or legs Muscle problems such as weakness Muscles twitching or cramping Sexual problems Balance issues

He noticed that about 70% of his patients were seeing improvement with his specific chiropractic protocol, but he wondered why he wasn’t able to help even a larger percentage of the population. He went on a search though out the United States and through many years of trials and research he discovered a specific protocol that helped many more people. Using this new found knowledge he came up with a protocol that includes regenerative medicine using stem cells and specific natural therapies that are the most effective treatments without the use of drugs or surgery for peripheral neuropathy and knee pain. Dr. Luis Del Rio studied and graduated from the University of Florida and Life University. He is a graduate of the American Functional Neurology Institute and is board certified in Integrative Medicine from the American Association of Integrative Medicine. The mission of his organization and highly trained team at Peak Health is to help people have the momentum to reach their peak wellness, by creating innovative therapies and transforming the patient experience. As a special offer Dr. Del Rio is offering anyone who calls either location and mentions this article a FREE CONSULTATION.

Mattia Spinal Care & Rehab Center, P.A. Gerald R. Mattia D.C., Director

Gerald R Mattia D.C. has been practicing chiropractic for forty three years. Even before that his life has not been ordinary. At the age of fifteen he had been given 6 months to live. “I was born with a severe heart condition called aortic stenosis.” People suffering from this condition have an aortic valve in their heart that gradually degenerates and therefore the heart cannot function properly. Heart surgery in the sixties was not as successful as today. He also had bad allergies. His mother was not ready to give up. On a friend’s recommendation, she took her son to a chiropractor. “The aortic valve stopped closing by 92 percent and my allergies were gone.” Dr. Mattia said. He was able to live to the age of 35 when he received his first new aortic valve and the success rate of heart surgery was higher. Dr. Mattia became a chiropractor because of this. He earned his chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College and opened a practice in 1977. Dr. Mattia practiced in New Jersey from 1977 to 2001. During that time he received many awards: Chiropractor of the Year 1996 and Sports Chiropractor of the year several times. He was appointed to the Board of Chiropractic Examiners, on which he served for six years, by the governor of New Jersey. He was also a board of director for the International Chiropractic Association and the Northeast Regional Director. Dr. Mattia has been the president of International Chiropractic Association Sports Health and Fitness Council from 1996-2011 during which he joined Arnold Schwarzenegger every year in Columbus Ohio for the ICA Fitness Symposium. The Symposium is held in conjuncture with the Schwarzenegger Fitness Weekend. In his quest to provide clients with the best preventative and therapeutic chiropractic care available, Dr. Mattia studies research, treatments and technologies from around the world. Consequently his office houses some of the most unique, cutting edge technology available: decompression therapy machines which help with disc problems in the low back and neck eliminating the need for surgery, the LPG key module for endermotherapy, class 4 laser to promote healing , and Spine Force which offers non static exercise for patients and helps rehabilitate and develop muscle strength for the core and intrinsic muscle of the spine. It was developed in France and Dr. Mattia helped introduce it in the United States. These technologies have come to complement the fundamental chiropractic adjustment. In 2001 Dr Mattia retired from his NJ practice and moved to Florida to begin semi retirement. But the quiet time did not last too long. Outside of the office, Dr. Mattia does power walking and likes to travel and loves golf and baseball. All during his career Dr. Mattia has taken care of many athletes from middle school to professional as well as regular clientele. His love for sports has helped him understand that spinal care for athletes is required for better performance and nervous system function. Dr. Mattia practices with his wife Paulette Mattia D.C, and Guillermo Nazario D.C. Dr. Mattia has helped many chiropractic college graduates begin their careers by having them work with him and gain experience. Dr. Mattia also has begun a new venture with Daniel Arnold M.D. consisting of non surgical regenerative therapy for knees and other joints at viscogen. Dr. Mattia has coached Babe Ruth Baseball, sponsored Team Gamez Foundation Chipping for Children, Central Florida YMCA, Orlando Union Rescue Mission and Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe. Dr. Mattia’s love for his practice and clients is apparent in his contagious enthusiasm and liveliness. “ The best part of my practice is the fact that people come to our practice and get better naturally, without medication. Touching thousands of lives over the years with the benefits of chiropractic is a professional achievement. “Living to the age of 69 when I was supposed to die at fifteen is a personal achievement. A great cardiac surgeon, Kevin Accola M.D., and chiropractic care and prayers saved my life.”

JOVAN MUÑIZ GONZALEZ, D.C. Chiropractor

I was born and raised in Aguada, Puerto Rico. I completed my undergrad degree at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Puerto Rico with a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Biology. Then I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida where I earned my doctorate degree. My passion for chiropractic started when my parent started chiropractic treatment. Dr. Gabriel Cruz D.C. commitment and passion for the profession, help, teach and inspire my parents not just to live a healthier life but allow them to live a more fulfilling life. Gandhi once said that “the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Daily, I practice simple life rules like always listening, expressing empathy, and sharing kindness and passion. I always attempt to hold these as my central tenants to patient treatment. These simple rules can allow a sense of trust and commitment to emanate in the people around us. When a strong rapport is established with a patient, astonishing things can occur. These relationships will be what is needed to influence patients to allow a true sense of trust to happen. Photo by Kimberly Jefcoat

52

| ORLANDOSTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

I have always believed that listening is the best service we can give to patients. By simply listening, we connect as human beings and can truly establish

that we understand their needs and care for them. Creating a bond of trust means that we can get the patient to believe in new opportunities. Opportunities to become better and have longer and healthier lives is something that I strive for in every patient that I encounter. I want the patients to understand that even if the road forward is rocky, I will always be there to help them make it the rest of the way. My bilingual skillset is one of my most crucial skills. I am proudly able to speak Spanish and English. This skillset allows me to communication in two languages that opens up the number of patients that I can effectively treat. This demographic is underserved and may be initially resistant. The Hispanics minority population living in American need chiropractic care, and I will be able to bridge that gap effectively. When we love what we do, we give all that we have, we take risks, and we sacrifice many things without knowing the final result. For this reason, my mission as a chiropractor is “pay it forward.” Chiropractic saved my family, and I am going to save other families. As D.D. Palmer said, “I feel it my bounded duty to not only replace displaced bones, but also teach others, so that the physical and spiritual may enjoy health, happiness and the full fruition of our earthly lives.”

Dr. Kristy Wood is a Chiropractic Physician and the Clinic Director at Balanced Back & Body. The team at Balanced Back & Body provides the very best quality care for neck and back pain. This contemporary clinic is located in beautiful Altamonte Springs and offers chiropractic, massage therapy and rehabilitation services. The Doctor has well over a decade of practice experience and continues to deliver patient-centered care each and every day. Dr. Wood has been an athlete her whole life and suffered a neck injury when she was a teenager which led her to a Chiropractor who quickly resolved the issue. Living a natural healthy lifestyle has become her passion. Raised in upstate New York she completed her undergraduate studies with a focus in Nutrition Sciences at SUNY Buffalo. She then began dreaming of sunnier days and went on to earn a Chiropractic Degree from the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida in 2007. While growing up in an entrepreneurial family, she always wanted to own her own business and with a strong desire to help others she opened private practice in 2014. Dr. Wood lives a life in balance which consists of regular physical exercise, healthy eating, time spent outdoors, and enjoys a strong social connection with family and friends. Balanced Back & Body offers technologically advanced modalities to bring the fastest, safest and most cost-effective relief to their patients. Along with manual spinal adjustments and Pro-Arthrostim Instrument adjusting, they utilize a wide range of physiotherapy devices such as electrical muscle stimulation, ice / heat therapy, deep heat ultrasound, flexion distraction technique, gentle spinal decompression, whole body vibration VIBEplate, rehabilitative exercises. In addition, they offer advanced soft tissue techniques which include Graston Technique, medical massage, cupping, and Rapid Release Therapy. Dr. Wood’s approach allows for treatment and management of all types of neuromusculoskeletal disorders. This comprehensive approach helps to accelerate pain relief and provide better, lasting results for the patient. What makes Balanced Back & Body different? “We offer short-term care for relief of neck and back pain, in turn providing convenient, affordable, mainstream chiropractic care.” Photo by Kimberly Jefcoat Hair & Makeup by Image by Jana

As a chiropractor he also specializes in addressing spinal conditions that can lead to neck and back pain, headaches, sciatica, and/or numbness/tingling. He also offers treatments dedicated to injury recovery and rehabilitation, such as from auto accident injuries, sports injuries or life events. Healy Chiropractic and Wellness Center

THE HEALY TECHNIQUE: After seven years in practice, Dr. Nick Healy, D.C. opened his practice, Healy Chiropractic & Wellness Center, in historic Winter Garden, FL. The clinic is crisp and modern, even though it resides in a historic home. He says, “Winter Garden is the ideal place to live, work and grow.” He has found success in West Orange with the Healy Technique, which he ascribes as combining deep tissue muscle work using various techniques to help relax the muscles, PNF stretching to elongate the muscle fibers and increase the blood flow to the injured area, followed by a chiropractic adjustment. By combining these therapies, Dr. Healy’s patients have found they need fewer visits, and feel greater relief. ABOUT THE DOCTOR: Dr. Nick Healy, D.C., is a graduate of Northwestern
