Explore the wonders of art in a playful, stimulating environment offering visual arts projects, music, dance, games, and storytelling. Campers will exercise their imagination each day through interactive activities. Discover clay, collage, drawing, painting, and more! WEEK 7 – MASTERS OF ART Learn about the exciting art styles and techniques of the great masters of art including Monet, Picasso, and Van Gogh. Week–long Summer Programs for ages 14-18 Teen Art Studio Summer Intensives allow students to express themselves creatively while learning from professional artist instructors. Come explore and experiment with a variety of artistic mediums. TEEN ART STUDIO: WELDING AND BLACKSMITHING – AGES 14-18 Explore metal fabrication through welding and blacksmithing during this 5 day intensive. Create functional or abstract sculpture by learning to cut, hammer, shape, and weld metal. This class is for beginning or intermediate students.By the end of the week you will take home a sculpture that you have created from design to finish. All materials are included. Negatives will be developed and the darkroom magic will begin. Basic printing skills will be taught and practiced, advancing at individual rates, including presentation of a final photo that will be spotted, matted and framed. With supportive instruction in a team environment, you will learn to safely work with molten glass, gather glass from the furnace, apply colors, and shape and sculpt molten glass. Learn the traditional methods of metalsmithing through soldering, piercing, and forming sterling silver, copper and a variety of metals. While creating rings, bracelets, and pendants. This class offers a basic overview of jewelry fabrication with a focus on soldering with an acetylene/air torch. You will finish several projects as you learn your way around Spruill’s professionally equipped jewelry and metalsmithing studio. A strong design is the first stage of any successful painting. By mastering your intuitive design process with solid technique you will take your vision to the next level. WALL JEWELRY: SMALL SCULPTURES FOR METALSMITHS AND CRAFTERS NEW! Is it time to lighten up and think outside the jewelry box? When you release yourself from the limitations of making wearables and turn your attention to something different, it can help to spark a positive creative shift. You’ve saved all those craft supplies for something, right? You will be able to incorporate personal items and found objects into well-crafted “wall jewelry,” sculptural pieces that can be personal statements, amulets, or just plain fun and whimsical. We will explore a variety of materials, including but not limited to tooling foil, enamel paints, copper and craft wire, leather, basket reed, gilder’s paste, and interesting uses for hot glue. REGISTRATION INFORMATION HOW TO REGISTER: Complete a registration form and submit payment. Fax, mail, or drop off at The Registration Office. Register online at www.spruillarts.org. Registration will be accepted if seats are available, the registration deadline has not passed, and all pre-requisites have been met. Spaces will not be held without a registration form and/or payment. Receipts will be sent if a valid email address is provided. SCA is not responsible for receipts that are not received.

COURSE CHANGES/ CANCELLATIONS

• Changes/cancellations initiated by a student will incur a fee and MUST be accepted by an SCA employee 3 business days (M-F 9 to 5) before class or by the published registration deadline. • There is a fee for all student cancellations, based on the course fee.

SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION: • Summer Camp is open to campers ages 5-14 only. • We do not have the staff to accommodate special needs campers. • Camp instructors will select projects based on the age of campers and the theme of the camp session. • Additional care is offered each week. There is a fee for late pick-ups.* • SCHOLARSHIPS: There are a limited number of scholarships available for our summer camp program. Contact the Education Director at 770.394.3447, extension 229. • GROUPING REQUESTS must be submitted on the registration form. Friends must list one another and be within a two (2) year age range. We do not guarantee placement. • CAMPER DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP: Walk your child in on the first day of camp. Carpool information at www.spruillarts.org. • Multi-Camp Discount: Register for 3 camps at once: save $10 on all 3 camps and subsequent camp registrations. Register for 2 camps, and then add a 3rd in a separate registration: the $10 discount applies only to the 3rd camp registration and subsequent camp registrations. Discount will not be applied retro-actively or refunded. Must register through by fax, mail, or drop off to receive the discount. Instructors • SCA general education instructors are independent contractors. Instructor contact information may be available by request. • Summer Camp Instructors are SCA employees and are drawn from the public & private school systems. They are subject to a background check at the state and federal levels. Illegally parked vehicles will be towed at owner’s expense. Pets are not permitted in the building. Only service animals are allowed on the premise.
