SUMMER CAMP 2019 CREATIVE ARTS CAMP (AGES 5-6) Explore the wonders of art in a playful, stimulating environment offering visual arts projects, music, dance, games, and storytelling. Campers will exercise their imagination each day through interactive activities. Discover clay, collage, drawing, painting, and more! VISUAL ARTS CAMP (AGES 7-10) Exciting hands-on art projects allow campers to explore art, meet creative challenges, and develop fundamental art skills. Campers will broaden their creativity through drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and many other artistic mediums. Finish the week with an art show on Friday at 2:30pm to share your awesome artwork! Campers will explore a variety of art concepts that incorporate both traditional and innovative materials and techniques. Week 2 - PORTRAIT PERFECTION Explore the fundamentals of drawing portraits and advance your drawing skills. Campers will learn how to see the human face as a series of basic shapes and patterns of light and shadow. Week 2 - PAINT SQUAD Explore creative applications and unique ways to express yourself using a variety of paints. Experiment with multiple paint mediums and techniques including acrylic pours, tempera pendulum painting, watercolors, alcohol inks and more. Use brushes and non-conventional tools as you pour, drip, and mix paints to create your very own colorful work of art. Create critters, characters, creatures, and more using beads and crystals as building materials. TEEN ART STUDIOS

Week–long Summer Programs for ages 14-18 Teen Art Studio Summer Intensives allow students to express themselves creatively while learning from professional artist instructors. Come explore and experiment with a variety of artistic mediums. TEEN ART STUDIO: EXPERIMENTAL DRAWING & PAINTING INTENSIVE – AGES 13-19 Unleash your creativity and experiment with materials in unexpected ways during these week-long studio intensives taught by experienced educators who are also professional artists. Students are invited to question, explore, experiment, and solve problems as they create and interact with art. Work within project based formats to develop drawing, painting, & observational skills while experimenting w/new, different and alternative methods/materials to create 3 & 4 dimensional drawings & paintings. TEEN ART STUDIO: DARKROOM PHOTOGRAPHY – AGES 14-18 Learn how to use a 35mm camera, from scratch to finish. Instruction will be given in how to compose, meter and expose photographs. Students will need to bring their own 35mm cameras (automatic and/or manual with instruction booklet, if available.) Negatives will be developed and the darkroom magic will begin. Basic printing skills will be taught and practiced, advancing at individual rates, including presentation of a final photo that will be spotted, matted and framed. Explore the wide range of skills to make and design your own blown glass. In this class you will build a functional understanding of the skills and techniques needed to blow glass. We will cover solid work as well as blown vessels. This class will build on skills learned each week to make a variety of blown glass forms. Each student will use a variety of different tools to shape and manipulate the molten glass. Each class will center on projects that cover both traditional and contemporary glass work. SHADOW WORK: SILHOUETTE DIES, VOLUME, AND THE HYDRAULIC PRESS NEW Come and discover the beautiful drama you can add to your work with the pillow forms created with silhouette dies and the hydraulic press. Die-formed pieces can add both concave and convex spaces to designs, as well as create hollow forms such as beads and small vessels. We will spend 2 days exploring the possibilities of both manufactured steel and plastic silhouette dies and how to create custom dies. Students will learn proper use, parameters and important safety information regarding the hydraulic press and the specifics of silhouette/matrix dies. Registration will be accepted if seats are available, the registration deadline has not passed, and all pre-requisites have been met. Spaces will not be held without a registration form and/or payment. Receipts will be sent if a valid email address is provided. SCA is not responsible for receipts that are not received.

• Changes/cancellations initiated by a student will incur a fee and MUST be accepted by an SCA employee 3 business days (M-F 9 to 5) before class or by the published registration deadline. • There is a fee for all student cancellations, based on the course fee.

There is a fee for late pick-ups.* • SCHOLARSHIPS: There are a limited number of scholarships available for our summer camp program.
