Hello. With the recent long weekends we’ve had I trust everyone is feeling refreshed and excited for the up and coming school holidays.

— Staff news and opinions >> 4

For this issue we took the time to do some number crunching. We’ve been assessing the number of enquiries Best of Zambia members actually receive. We’re really proud of the connections we are enabling so the article on page 4 goes into more detail.

Every month we share the latest news and opinions from the Best of Zambia team.

— Hot off the press >> 6 All special offers, events and news are now gathered together towards the back of the magazine.

As usual find the latest offers, news and events on page 6. Find copies of the magazine on our site, on the blog and on Facebook. Make it the place to go for the latest bargain to bag or event to attend. Have a fantastic month of July! Sara Drawwater, Managing Editor

— Staff news and opinions Making connections - enquiry stats at thebestofzambia.com We’re really pleased about this because typically, one or two purchases resulting from an enquiry through thebestofzambia.com will cover the cost of a member’s yearly subscription. In addition, we can only measure leads generated through our enquiry form. Our members also receive direct telephone calls and email enquiries on top. The best bit is we do not charge any commissions!

It’s been two years since the Best of Zambia website was relaunched with a new design and host of improvements. How two years have flown by! The latest is that our sister company Something Beckons is working on new updates. But first, what improvements did the new site bring? To understand our assessments you must understand that we have two distinct groups of customers - end users and members of the Best of Zambia. End users of the site want to find useful, up to date content that helps them find the products and services they want in Zambia. So we ask, are we fulfilling the needs of our end users?

We are very proud that traffic has doubled in the last year. Our stats show that more people are finding, visiting, staying on and coming back to the website. This proves to us that we are making the positive impact we want to make. We are raising Zambia’s profile and putting more and more information online. Members of the Best of Zambia benefit significantly when end users are happy (as demonstrated above) but they particularly want a return on their subscription investment and more enquiries.

On average, every Best of Zambia member receives 21 enquiries in 1 year*. —

4

We love that our model is such an affordable method of promotion. But what of the future? We know that our audiences want up to the minute events, news and special offers. We know there is still a gaping hole for job vacancies and easy online purchases. These are the kind of things we are working on improving. We’ve achieved these improvements with the help of our Multi Media Journalist Nambeye Katebe. Suddenly, there was a team of two working on promotion. However, neither Nambeye nor myself are yet full time on promotion. By promotion we mean generating valuable content for end users which in turn generates interest, traffic and an engaged audience. So more is being done to free us up with plans for assistants to enable the additional promotional work we want to do. We also want to do more to educate our members on how they can help us and in turn help themselves!

Plans are in place for free training seminars for Best of Zambia members. In these seminars we will discuss the wonderful world of the web and how we can work together for no additional cost to members. As you can see, there’s lots and lots to do. To find out more, watch out for a member’s event coming soon to your area.

*These are averages and not true for all members as there are variations between sectors. By Sara Drawwater, Marketing and PR Director

The parasite goes into snails and will grow and develop till they reach adulthood. When you swim in infected water they can bore through the skin and enter the body.
