Tempo de Huida (Fleeing Tempo) was commissioned in 1993 by Salvador Espasa as a final exam piece for his students at the Conservatorio Profesional de Amaniel - Madrid, Spain. The piece is dedicated to him and his students. It offers technical challenges suitable for students who want to begin graduate studies. This piece is written in ternary form as in a classical sonata with a central short, slow movement.
BonFirE MemOriEs Gerson Batista
Bonfire Memories is a junction of lyric excerpts from songs that we used to sing with the family in the early Christmas of my childhood - O Holy Night, Angels We Have Heard on High, Joy to the World, Silent Night -, presented from a distorted perspective, resembling our own thoughts, were each singer has the opportunity of a free and individual performance and expression at different points throughout the piece.

New Composers
Paulo Bastos was born in Vila Pouca de Aguiar. He started studying music with Hélia Soveral at the Escola de Música do Porto. Later he finished his BA in Composition at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo, where he was awarded the “Prize for the Best Student”. Then he finished his MMus in Theory and Musical Analysis at the University of Aveiro. He worked with several composers and groups as The Strasbourg Percussions, Sharon Kanach, Filipe Pires, Dieter Schnebel, Cândido Lima, Stefano Scodanibbio, Álvaro Salazar, Gerhard Stäbler, Jorge Peixinho, Nicolaus A. Huber, Virgílio Melo and Ken Valitsky. Much of his production focuses on chamber music and children’s music, despite the significant
number
of
orchestral
works,
solo
instrument
and
electronics.
Some
premieres, recordings, as well as dedications of his music, have been especially written for and commissioned by groups and reputable quality musicians. He teaches Analysis, Composition and Electronic Music at the Conservatório de Música Calouste Gulbenkian de Braga since 1996.
