Als eines der ältesten und stärksten High Tech-Gründerzentren Europas wird der Science Park Graz sich nun vermehrt der Balkan-Region zuwenden.
With more than 20 successful foundings per year, Science Park Graz is not only the strongest business incubator in its field but has also been around since 2002. The motor behind successful tech brands such as the audio start-up USound, the worldwide provider for robot-assisted rehabilitation Tyromotion, and the SunnyBAG solar rucksack manufacturer, is now also heading in the SouthEast European direction.
Mit über 20 Gründungen pro Jahr ist der Science Park Graz nicht nur führend in seinem Bereich, es gibt dieses Gründerzentrum zudem bereits seit 2002. Als Motor hinter erfolgreichen Unternehmen wie dem Audio-Startup USound, dem weltweit aktiven Anbieter für robotergestützte Rehabilitation Tyromotion, und dem Solarrucksack-Hersteller SunnyBAG, bewegt sich der SPG nun in die Süd-Osteuropäische Richtung.
Supported by industrial, public and regional funding bodies as well as by the European Space Agency ESA, the Austrian incubator forms the backbone for visionary founders with global ambitions. Startups with highly innovative business ideas and the skills to promptly implement them are the most important players at Science Park Graz on its road to success. Deeply rooted within the economic and scientific power region of Styria, the incubator also benefits from a strong network of corporate and industrial partners. In 2016, the Austrian ESA Business Incubation Center (BIC) opened its headquarters at the SPG, with the objective of making space-related technology available for the industrial sector. Since then, SPG has doubled its performance. “For the immediate future,” says Martin Mössler, managing director and ESA ambassador, “SPG aims at becoming the strongest incubator of South-East Europe.” With its powerful network, 16 years of experience and a fresh take on academically based startup ideas, SPG will carry on bringing successful inventions to life, thus helping to actively solve some of the most critical problems of our times. 66 | Issue 60 | March 2018
Unterstützt von industriellen, regionalen und öffentlichen Fördergebern sowie der Europäischen Weltraumorganisation ESA, bildet der SPG das Backbone für visionäre Gründer mit Weltmarkt-Ambitionen. Startups mit hoch innovativen Geschäftsideen und der Fähigkeit, diese schnell umzusetzen, zählen zu den wichtigsten Akteuren des Science Park Graz auf dessen Erfolgsweg. Wesentlich für das in der forschungs- und entwicklungsstarken Steiermark fest verwurzelte Gründerzentrum ist auch das starke Netzwerk von Partnern aus Industrie und Wirtschaft. 2016 eröffnete das Business Incubation Center (BIC) der ESA seinen österreichischen Hauptsitz am SPG, mit dem Ziel der industriellen oder beispielsweise auch medizinischen Anwendung von Innovationen innerhalb der Weltraumtechnik. Seither hat der SPG seine Leistung verdoppelt. „In naher Zukunft“, sagt Martin Mössler, Geschäftsführer und ESA Botschafter, „soll der Science Park Graz zum einflussreichsten High Tech-Inkubator in Süd-Ost-Europa werden.“ Mit seinem starken Netzwerk, dem gesammelten Erfahrungsschatz aus 16 Jahren und einem frischen Ansatz für den akademischen Startup-Markt wird der SPG weiterhin erfolgreich Ideen in Innovationen verwandeln und somit aktiv zur Lösung zentraler Probleme unserer Zeit beitragen. www.sciencepark.at www.esa-bic.at
