Two of the most interesting places in lovely Salzburg are without a doubt Mozart’s birthplace and the Mozart Residence. Both buildings give a deep insight into Mozart’s life and the 18th century.
Zwei der interessantesten Stätten im wunderschönen Salzburg sind zweifelsohne Mozarts Geburtshaus und das Mozart-Wohnhaus. Beide Häuser geben tiefe Einblicke in Mozarts Leben und gleichzeitig auch ins 18. Jahundert.
Mozart was born on 27 January 1756 at Getreidegasse 9. Today his three-story birthplace is one of the most visited museums worldwide. “Nowhere else are Wolfgang Amadé Mozart and his music as vividly palpable as here,” says museum director Gabriele Ramsauer.
Mozart wurde am 27. Januar 1756 in der Getreidegasse 9 geboren und sein dreistöckiges Geburtshaus ist heute eines der meistbesuchten Museen der Welt. „Nirgendwo sonst werden der Mensch Wolfgang Amadé Mozart und seine Musik so lebendig spürbar wie hier“, sagt die Museumsdirektorin Gabriele Ramsauer.
Visitors gain a unique insight into Mozart’s family, his living conditions and his passion for the opera. Many exciting documents, original portraits, memorabilia and rarities such as Mozart’s childhood violin and his clavichord complete the visit. A true highlight is the probably most famous portrait of Mozart, painted by his brother-in-law Joseph Lange two years before Mozart’s death.
Besucher bekommen einen einzigartigen Einblick in Mozarts Familie, seine Lebensumstände und seine Opern-Leidenschaft. Viele spannende Dokumente, Originalportraits, Erinnerungsstücke und Raritäten wie Mozarts Kindergeige und sein Clavichord runden den Besuch ab. Ein echtes Highlight ist das vermutlich berühmteste Mozart-Portrait, welches von seinem Schwager Joseph Lange zwei Jahre vor Mozarts Tod gemalt wurde.
At Markplatz 8 is the Mozart Residence, formerly known as the ‘Dance-Master’s House’. Mozart inhabited these spacious rooms until the end of 1780. In a lively way the museum documents Mozart’s compositional work during his Salzburg years and the family’s social surrounding. “Special attractions are Mozart’s original pianoforte and the well-known family portrait in the ‘Dance-Master’s Salon’,” Ramsauer adds. From June to September the Foundation Mozarteum Salzburg holds chamber concerts in its two concert halls (Great Hall and Viennese Hall). The Mozart Week is held from 24 January to 3 February 2019, for the first time under the artistic direction of Rolando Villazón.
Weiter geht es zum Mozart-Wohnhaus am Marktplatz 8, ehemals bekannt als ‚Tanzmeisterhaus’. In den weitläufigen Räumen lebte Mozart bis Ende 1780. Das Museum dokumentiert Mozarts kompositorisches Schaffen während seiner Salzburger Jahre, sowie das gesellschaftliche und familiäre Umfeld auf sehr lebendige Art und Weise. „Besondere Anziehungspunkte sind Mozarts Original-Hammerklavier und das bekannte Familienbild im ‚Tanzmeistersaal“, fügt Ramsauer hinzu. Neben den zwei Mozart-Museen veranstaltet die Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg von September bis Juni Kammerkonzerte in den beiden Konzertsälen (Großer Saal und Wiener Saal) des Mozarteums. Vom 24. Januar bis 3. Februar 2019 findet die Mozartwoche statt, erstmals unter der Intendanz von Rolando Villazón. www.mozarteum.at
