ORDER OF SERVICE Hymn, sung by the Choir: O God, our help in ages past THE BIDDING PRAYER The Chaplain THE LORD’S PRAYER All say Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen ACT OF CONFESSION The Chaplain says Let us confess to Almighty God the sins and shortcomings of the world; its pride, its selfishness, its greed; its evil divisions and hatreds. Let us acknowledge and confess our share in what is wrong, and our failure to seek and establish that peace on earth, which God wills for all his children. All say Most merciful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, in word

and deed, and marred your image in us. We have not loved you with our whole heart. We have not loved our neighbour as ourselves. In your mercy, forgive what we have been; help us to amend what we are and direct what we shall be; that we may do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with you, our God; Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. THE ABSOLUTION THE FIRST READING The Head of Corps, CWO C. E. J. Rooth The Book of the Prophet Micah, chapter 4, verses 1-5. Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and peoples shall flow to it. Many nations shall come and say; “Let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between many peoples, and rebuke strong nations afar off; they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation; neither shall they learn war anymore. Everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid; for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken. For all people walk each in the name of his god, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever. Anthem, sung by the choir Duruflé, Ubi caritas et amor

THE SECOND READING The Warden The Gospel According to Luke, chapter 10, verses 25-37 A lawyer stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “What is written in the Law?” Jesus replied. “How do you read it?” The lawyer answered saying, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’” “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” But he seeking to justify himself, asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbour?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, also passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he travelled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ “Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The lawyer replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “You have answered correctly, go and do likewise.” The Head of Corps brings the parade to Attention, and the Warden, Sub Warden, CCF Second in Command and youngest cadet take their places ready for the Act of Remembrance.

THE ACT OF REMEMBRANCE The Chaplain says Let us remember before God, and commend to his sure keeping, those who have died for their country in war; especially we remember those from this College, pupils, masters, and servants who gave their lives in the service of their country. We remember with thanksgiving all who laid down their lives in the two World Wars, and those who have served in more recent and current conflicts. We pray for all whom we knew, or whose memory we treasure, and all who have died in the cause of peace and the service of mankind. The RSM says They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. All respond We will remember them. THE LAST POST THE SILENCE THE REVEILLE Wreaths are laid by the Warden, Sub Warden, CCF Second in Command and the youngest cadet. The RSM says When you go home, tell them of us and say, ‘For your tomorrow we gave our today.’

THE ACT OF COMMITMENT The Chaplain says Let us pledge ourselves anew to the service of God and our fellow men, that we may help, encourage and comfort others; support those working for the relief of the needy and for the peace and welfare of the nations. All say Lord God our Father, we pledge ourselves to serve you, and all mankind in the cause of peace, for the relief of want and suffering and for the praise of your name. Guide us by your Spirit, grant us wisdom, grant us courage and give us hope; keep us faithful now and always. Amen. THE PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION The Assistant Chaplain THE GENERAL THANKSGIVING All say Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you most humble and hearty thanks for all your goodness and loving kindness to us and all mankind. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, for the means of grace, and the hope of glory. Give us, we pray, such a sense of all your mercies that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful, and that we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus

Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be all honour and glory, for ever and ever. Amen THE BLESSING The Chaplain says God grant to the living, grace; to the departed, rest; to the Church, the Queen, the Commonwealth, and all mankind, peace unity and concord: to us, and all His servants, life everlasting; And the blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, come down upon you; and remain with you this day and for evermore. Amen. THE NATIONAL ANTHEM
