Δεν τα πάω καλά με τον χρόνο. Αργώ πάντα στα ραντεβού μου, δεν γιορτάζω ποτέ τα γενέθλιά μου, σιχαίνομαι τις προθεσμίες.

Δύσκολα θυμάμαι πράγματα και αποφεύγω συστηματικά το μέλλον.

Ο χρόνος είναι το χειρότερο θέμα συζήτησης, απλά δεν μπορώ να

συμμετέχω. Ισως γιατί δεν μπορώ να τον καταλάβω, ή να τον ερμηνεύσω

με λέξεις. Τώρα που το σκέφτομαι, ο χρόνος για μένα είναι πιο εύκολα

αντιληπτός ως συναίσθημα. Χρόνος είναι η ηρεμία και η σιγουριά δίπλα

στον άνθρωπο που αγαπάς, η ζάλη από ένα καλό μεθύσι, η ηδονή πάνω σε ένα λάγνο κορμί. Ο χρόνος είναι η υπέρτατη και ταυτόχρονα αγνότερη

επιθυμία της ύπαρξής μας. Ο χρόνος

I'm not good with time. I'm always late for my appointments, I never celebrate my birthday, I hate deadlines. I have trouble remembering things and systematically avoid the future.

Time is the worst topic of conversation, I just can't participate. Maybe because I can't understand it, or interpret it in words. Now that I think about it, time to me is more easily perceived as an emotion. Time is the calmness and confidence you gain next to the person you love, the dizziness from good drunkenness, the pleasure of a lusty body. Time is the supreme and at the same time purest desire of our existence. Time is what we think we are entitled to but we all pray for.

Με αφορμή το λανσάρισμα του BB 4000 II, η Reebok δίνει φωνή σε νέα communities που αλλάζουν στερεότυπα και ενδυναμώνουν την κοινωνία, αφήνοντας το δικό τους αποτύπωμα. Το roller skating, δημοφιλές στην δεκαετία του '80, έχει επανέλθει στις μεγάλες πόλεις και έχει μετατραπεί σε αγαπημένο σπορ. Από τη νέα τάση δεν θα μπορούσε να "ξεφύγει" η Αθήνα, στην οποία τα τελευταία χρόνια άρχισαν να δημιουργούνται κοινότητες roller skaters.

Μία από αυτές είναι τα "Patinia". Έχοντας ιδρυθεί το 2014 στην Αθήνα από την Ακυλίνα, η ομάδα αυτή κατάφερε να συσπειρώσει όλους εκείνους που μοιράζονται το ίδιο πάθος για τα πατίνια και ζουν στην πρωτεύουσα. Προσκαλώντας τον κάθε εν δυνάμει roller skater, ανεξάρτητα από την εμπειρία ή τις προηγούμενες γνώσεις του, μετέδωσαν αυτοπεποίθηση στα μέλη τους ώστε να εξελιχθούν και να πάνε το χόμπι τους σε άλλο επίπεδο. Σαγηνευμένοι από τον δυναμισμό και την αισιοδοξία της κοινότητας "Patinia" συναντήσαμε πέντε από τα μέλη της (την Ακυλίνα, την Άλκηστις, την Ελισάβετ, την Ελπίδα και την Ονίτα), τα φωτογραφήσαμε με τα παπούτσια BB 4000 II της Reebok και τους ζητήσαμε να καταγράψουν το προσωπικό τους βίωμα από το roller skate community τους.

With the launch of the BB 4000 II, Reebok has given a voice to young communities that are changing stereotype and empowering society, leaving their own mark. Popular in the 80s, roller skating has made a comeback in big cities, becoming a popular sport once again. This new trend could not have “skipped” Athens, where many roller skate communities have been created in recent years. One of those being “Patinia”. Having been founded in 2014 in Athens by Akylina, they managed to gather all thosewho share the same passion for roller skating and live in the capital. Inviting every roller skater, regardless of their experience or prior knowledge, they instilled confidence in its members to develop and take their hobby to the next level. Captivated by the dynamism and optimism of the “Patinia” community, we met five of its members (Akylina, Alcestis, Elisabeth, Elpida and Onita), photographed them in Reebok’s BB 4000 II sneakers, and asked them to document their personal experience from their roller skate community.

μας βοήθησε στο να αλλάξει το στερεότυπο της γυναίκας που ασχολείται με το roller skating. Έτσι ενώ μέχρι τότε κυριαρχούσε η νοοτροπία ότι η roller skater έπρεπε να είναι ένα "χαριτωμένο" κορίτσι που χορεύει με μίνι φούστα, τώρα πλέον έχει γίνει ξεκάθαρο ότι τα κορίτσια roller skaters πηγαίνουν

Up until now, the mindset was that a roller skater had to be a “cute” girl dancing in a miniskirt, now it has become clear that girl roller skaters are going to skateparks, skating in the streets, trying more aggressive tricks, all this regardless of whether they’re wearing miniskirts or not."

Η ρουτίνα της Σάντυ Χατζηϊωάννου είναι γεμάτη "κίνηση". Από τα γυρίσματα για την σειρά Σασμός, όπου υποδύεται την Τζένη, μέχρι και τις ώρες που πηγαίνει για τρέξιμο (με το αγαπημένο της Νew Era cap). Και για όσους αναρωτιούνται τι είναι αυτό που της δίνει δύναμη, ειδικά όταν τα πράγματα δυσκολεύουν, η απάντηση είναι απλή: oι άνθρωποι που την αγαπούν και τους αγαπάει. Οι γονείς της, οι φίλοι της, ο σύντροφός της.

Sandy Chatziioannou’s routine is full of "movement". From filming for the series Sasmos, where she plays Jenny, to the times she goes for a run (with her favorite New Era cap). And for those who wonder what gives her strength, especially when things get difficult, the answer is simple: the people who love her and loves them back. Her parents, her friends, her partner.

Ο Δημήτρης Καπουράνης από την άλλη, γεμάτος καλλιτεχνικές ανησυχίες, δεν σταματά να δημιουργεί. Πλάθει χαρακτήρες όταν υποδύεται ρόλους, τραγουδάει και παράγει μουσική για την μπάντα του και τελευταία, ξεκίνησε να δοκιμάζει το ταλέντο του στην συγγραφή σεναρίων. Για τον Δημήτρη όμως, εξίσου σημαντικές με τις ώρες της δημιουργίας, είναι και οι αντίστοιχες της ξεκούρασης. Κι αν κάποιος του έδινε την δυνατότητα να ξεφύγει από τους περιορισμούς της καθημερινότητας, εκείνος θα επέλεγε τον ήλιο με θέα το Λιβυκό Πέλαγος και με μόνη προστασία, το αγαπημένο του New Era cap.

Dimitris Kapouranis, on the other hand, full of artistic concerns, does not stop creating. He creates characters when he acts, sings, and produces music for his band, and lately, he has started trying his hand at screenwriting. For Dimitris, however, just as important as the hours of creation are the hours of rest. And if someone gave him the opportunity to escape from the limitations of everyday life, he would choose the sun with a view of the Libyan Sea wearing his favorite New Era cap.

Φυσικά, από το event δεν θα λείπουν τα καθιερωμένα fashion shows ενώ το πρόγραμμα του συμπληρώνεται με μια σειρά από talks, meetings και master classes που θα παρέχουν στους επαγγελματίες της βιομηχανίας μόδας μια διεισδυτική ματιά στις τάσεις της αγοράς αλλά και συμβουλές για το πως να αναπτύξουν την επιχείρησή τους.

The beloved fashion, accessories and jewelry exhibition Homi Fashion & Jewels returns to Fiera Milano this fall (September 15 to 18, 2023). In its current edition, visitors will have the opportunity to visit new spaces within the exhibition and watch its interesting program.

This September, more than 500 brands will present their Autumn/Winter 2023 jewelry and accessories collections, with some participants giving a preview of their Spring/Summer 2024 collections.

The Greek brands that will participate in Homi Fashion & Jewels Exhibition this September are 31 in total. Among others, we will see: ALEXANDRA TSOUKALA -

MINIMUM DESIGN, CHRISTINA BRAMPTI, SORBET ISLAND, HARA KARAMICHALI JEWELERY and UNIQUENESS FINE GREEK JEWELRY. The experienced Christina Brampti believes that it is a very important exhibition for designers. It’s upgraded every year, showing the value and respect for the exhibitors given by the organizing company, while making interesting moves to attract the public, buyers, and exhibitors. On the other hand, Pelagia Christaki, creator of the NEROMAI brand, which is participating for the first time in Homi this September, believes that the exhibition will benefit her brand name with the recognition it offers, but will also be the ideal occasion to "test" its capabilities by gathering important feedback from international buyers.

At the same time, the Homi Fashion & Jewels Exhibition in September will renew its collaboration with Poli.Design, creating "Design Directions", a multi-media path where people who work or have a passion for fashion can discover, learn, and investigate fashion trends of the near future.

Of course, the event will include the established fashion shows which always capture the public's interest, while its rich proposal is complemented by a series of talks, meetings and master classes that will offer fashion industry professionals an in-depth look at market trends as well as advice on how to grow their business.

Πίστευα πως θα είναι άβολο στα 40 μου

να μιλήσω για τον χρόνο γιατί πίστευα πως στα 40 θα βίωνα την πρώτη σοβαρή κρίση ηλικίας. Ευτυχώς ο έφηβος που κατοικεί μέσα μου αρνείται να κοιμηθεί και απορρίπτει πανηγυρικά αυτήν την κοινωνική κατασκευή που έχουμε για να συλλαμβάνουμε και να ερμηνεύουμε την πραγματικότητα.

Οι άνθρωποι αντιλαμβανόμαστε τον χρόνο με δύο τρόπους: γραμμικά και κυκλικά. Και οι δύο αυτές αντιλήψεις προέρχονται από την ανθρώπινη εμπειρία: από τη μια μεριά υπάρχει η γραμμική πορεία της ζωής από τη γέννηση ως τον θάνατο και από την άλλη η κυκλική εναλλαγή ημέρας-νύχτας και εποχών.

Πριν από πέντε περίπου χρόνια έπρεπε να επιλέξω πως εγώ θα αντιμετωπίζω τον χρόνο γιατί τότε ήταν που εξαιτίας του καρκίνου είδα με βίαιο τρόπο τον χρονικό μου ορίζοντα να στενεύει. Και έπρεπε να αποδεχτώ το λίγο όσο πιο ανώδυνα. Έτσι άρχισα να αποφεύγω τις ώρες, τους δείκτες, τα λεπτά και να χρησιμοποιώ τη μουσική ως μονάδα μέτρησης. Σε τρία τραγούδια θα είμαι στο ραντεβού. Θα τρέξω μέχρι να τελειώσει το Dark Side of the Moon. Ώσπου παραδέχτηκα πως η αγωνία μου δεν είχε να κάνει με το «πόσο» αλλά με το «μέχρι πόσο». Ο φόβος του θανάτου είχε γίνει φόβος για τον χρόνο. Και επινοούσα παραδείσους, γιατί με μια γλωσσική επινόηση θεωρούσα πως δίνω απαντήσεις στην υπαρξιακή μου αγωνία. Με το σύμπαν όμως να στέκεται παντελώς αδιάφορο απέναντι σε αυτό. Προσπάθησα λοιπόν να σχετικοποιήσω τον χρόνο, να προσεγγίσω καλύτερα τη φύση του και να μην τον κατηγορώ για την καταστροφή και τον θάνατο.

Η έννοια του χρόνου άλλωστε είναι μια ψευδαίσθηση. Ένα ανθρώπινο κατασκεύασμα που αποτελείται από ανθρώπινες αναμνήσεις. Ο,τι έχει συμβεί και ό,τι πρόκειται να συμβεί, συμβαίνει αυτήν τη στιγμή. Και μπορεί να ακούγονται φιλοσοφικά όλα αυτά αλλά το μόνο σίγουρο είναι πως το σύμπαν είναι αχανές. Και η ύπαρξη μας μέσα σε αυτό εξαιρετικά μικρή. Όση και η ζωή μας. Και γι αυτό έχει αξία. Μόνο επειδή είναι μικρή. Είναι σχεδιασμένη για να την καταναλώνουμε, να την χρησιμοποιούμε, να την ξοδεύουμε, να την ζούμε, να την νιώθουμε. Πρέπει να την γεμίζουμε με όσα λάθη και με όσα θαύματα μπορούμε να καταφέρουμε. Και μετά; Μετά πρέπει να την αφήνουμε.

I believed that it would be kind of awkward in my 40s to be speaking about time because I believed that in my 40s I would experience my first serious midlife crisis. Luckily, the teenager that lives inside of me refuses to fall asleep and passionately denies this social construct that we have so that we can apprehend and interpret reality.

We, humans, perceive time in two ways: linear and circular. Both of these perceptions derive from the human experience: on the one hand, there is the linear path of life, starting from birth until death, and on the other hand, there is the circular change of day and night, and of the seasons.

Almost five years ago I had to choose how would I deal with my time because it was at that moment that because of cancer I saw in a violent way my time frame narrowing down. And I had to accept the less in the most painful way. Hence, I began avoiding the hours, the clock hands, and the minutes and using music as a time measurement unit. “In three songs I will be at my appointment. I will run until ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ ends”. Until I admitted to myself that my agony was not about the “how long” but about the “until when”. The fear of death had become the fear of time. And I was inventing heavens because, with a linguistic construct, I thought that I was answering to my existential anguish. And the universe was just existing there, completely indifferent towards that. Therefore, I tried to make time relative, to approach its nature in a better way, and to stop blaming it for destruction and death.

The meaning of time, after all, is an illusion. It is a human construct made of human memories. Whatever has happened and what is about to happen, happens at this moment. And that might sound philosophic, but one thing is for certain; the universe is vast. And our existence within it is exceptionally small. Like our life. And that is why it’s valuable. Only because it is short. It is designed to be consumed, used, spent, lived, and felt. We must fill it with all the mistakes and all the miracles that we can manage. And then? Then, we must let it go.

Tο σώμα ίσως είναι το μοναδικό φυσικό

μέσο που αντιλαμβάνεται και μεταφράζει

το χρόνο και τη φθορά του. Ο χρόνος σε συσχέτιση με το σώμα, αμφιταλαντεύεται

ανάμεσα στην επιείκεια και τη σκληρότητα,

τη λάμψη της νιότης μα και τη παρακμή

της. Σ' αφήνει να ησυχάσεις μονάχα αν

αγκαλιάσεις όλες του τις αντιθέσεις.

Το επάγγελμά μου είναι κι αυτό γεμάτο

αντιθέσεις. Πίσω απ’ τη χάρη, την ομορφιά

και τη λεπτότητα της κάθε μου κίνησης, υπάρχει πόνος, ιδρώτας και καταπόνηση.

Όταν βρίσκομαι στη σκηνή, κανείς

δε μπορεί να δει που πονάω, τόσο

στα μακροχρόνια τραύματα όσο στις

προσωρινές πληγές μου. Καλούμαι

καθημερινά να ξεπεράσω τα σημεία αυτά

ώστε να δώσω το επιθυμητό "effortless"

αποτέλεσμα.

Ακόμη και η μητέρα μου απ’ τη θέση

του θεατή ξεχνά πως λίγο πριν μου

σκούπιζε τα δάκρυα, ενώ με βλέπει επί

σκηνής να χορεύω, έχοντας ξεπεράσει

όλο αυτό που συνέβη, και κάπως έτσι

ο χρόνος στρεβλώνει και φαντάζει σα μια

μακρινή περασμένη ανάμνηση, ακόμη και

για εκείνη που πριν λίγο με παρηγορούσε.

Ωστόσο, τόσο εγώ όσο και το σώμα, δε

ξεχνώ, καθώς ο χρόνος γράφει πάνω μου, όπως οι αποστάσεις στα οχήματα. Ούσα

νεότερη, είχα δύναμη και αντοχή, μα μου

έλειπε η πείρα και η μεστότητα, η οποία αποκτήθηκε με το πέρασμα του χρόνου.

Με άλλα λόγια είναι σα να λέμε πως το δικό μου "όχημα", σε αψεγάδιαστη

κατάσταση, είχε το καύσιμο μα δεν είχε το προορισμό. Ποιος άλλωστε δε θα

‘θελε την ευλυγισία των είκοσι με την

αντίληψη των τριάντα; H σκέψη αυτή

περνούσε απ’ το μυαλό διαρκώς και

μ’ έπιανε το παράπονο.

Το παράπονο, όμως, εξαλείφθηκε τη

μέρα που αγκάλιασα το σώμα μου με τις

ατέλειες και τις δυσκολίες του. Έμαθα μες

το καιρό να δουλεύω σοφότερα, σεβόμενη

τις δύσκολες μέρες, ακούγοντας τους

πόνους μου, χωρίς να πιέζομαι.

Με το χρόνο σαν δάσκαλο, κατάλαβα

πως αν πηγαίνω κόντρα στα σημάδια που

αφήνει στο κορμί μου, η αντίστασή μου θα

‘ρθει σαν αμείλικτη ανταπόδοσή του.

Έκτοτε, σταμάτησα να μετρώ χρόνια, μα να απολαμβάνω τόσο τη κάθε νέα

προσπάθεια όσο και τη κάθε διόρθωση.

Με το "όχημα" μου λοιπόν, χρειάστηκε αρκετές φορές να χαθώ, προκειμένου να

μείνω προσηλωμένη στο προορισμό μου.

Το άγχος, που λιγόστεψε με το καιρό

πριν τις παραστάσεις, άρχισε να γίνεται εμπιστοσύνη. Κανείς θα έλεγε πως το "navigator" ήταν η συνείδηση. Άκουγα τη φωνή που με οδηγούσε - χρονιά με τη χρονιά αισθανόμουν ακόμη και πιο σίγουρη.

Στο τέλος, στη κάθε μου υπόκλιση επί σκηνής, είχα το κοινό σαν κίνητρο και το κορμί σαν μέσο. Υποκλινόμουν τόσο σ’ αυτούς όσο και στο σώμα μου για όσα άντεξε κι όσα κατάφερε. Ευγνωμονούσα, λοιπόν, με τον καιρό το "όχημά" μου. Δεν είναι άλλο η νεότητα από ένα άτυπο διόδιο. Καλείσαι, αργά η γρήγορα, να διαβείς με αποδοχή αυτό το στάδιο. Το μόνο σίγουρο είναι ότι θα την αφήσεις πίσω, κοιτώντας τη απ’ το μεσαίο καθρέφτη.

Ο χρόνος, ανηφορικός στο πέρασμά του, άλλοτε κακοτράχαλος κι άλλοτε ευθύς, μπορώ να πω με σιγουριά,  πως μου χάρισε απλόχερα τη θέα. Με άλλα λόγια, λίγο η φωνή του navigator, λίγο η δίψα μου να δω τη θέα, με έκανε να μη σταματώ πουθενά. Να αντιλαμβάνομαι την ίδια τη ζωή σαν μια αέναη κίνηση. Πίσω απ’ όλα όμως, το καύσιμό μου είναι η αγάπη.

The body is probably the only physical medium that perceives and translates time and its deterioration. Time, in relation to the body, oscillates between indulgence and cruelty, the glow of youth but also its decline. It only lets you rest if you embrace all of its contradictions.

My profession is as well full of contradictions. Behind the grace, the beauty, and the delicacy of my every movement, there is pain, sweat, and strain.

When I'm on stage, no one can see that it hurts, both in my long-term wounds and my temporary ones. I am expected to daily overcome these issues in order to give the desired, "effortless" result.

Even my mother, from the spectator's position, forgets that just a moment ago she was wiping my tears, while she sees me on stage dancing, having overcome all that happened, and somehow, time warps and seems like a distant memory, even and for her who just saw me the way I was before.However, both I and the body, do not forget, while time leaves its marks on me, the same way distances do on vehicles. When I was younger, I had strength and stamina, but I was lacking experience and pithiness, which was gained over time.

In other words, it is like we mean that my “vehicle”, in pristine condition, had the fuel but not the destination. Besides, who wouldn’t want the flexibility of their 20s with the perception of their 30s? That thought was going constantly through my mind and I was feeling sad about it. That sadness, though, disappeared the day I embraced my body, along with its imperfections and its inconveniences. I learned, in time, to work wiser, respect the difficult days, and listen to my aches, without pressuring myself.

Having time as a teacher, I realised that if I go against the marks that it leaves on my body, I will receive my resistance as its relentless retribution.

Since then, I stopped counting years, and I started to enjoy both each new effort and each correction. I had to get lost plenty of times with my “vehicle”, in order to stay focused on my destination.

My anxiety before my performances, which was getting better in time, started to become trust. Someone could have said that my “navigator” was consciousness. I was listening to the voice that was guiding me and year after year I felt even more secure.

In the end, after each of my bows on the stage, I had the audience as my motive and the body as my medium. I was bowing both to them and to my body for everything that has suffered and endured. Therefore, I was thanking my “vehicle”.

Youth is no different than an atypical toll. You are asked to go through it willingly, sooner or later. One thing’s for certain: you’ll leave your youth behind, staring at it through the middle car mirror.

Time, being steep, sometimes rough too, but sometimes straight, I can admit with certainty that it gifted me with the best view. In other words, maybe because of the navigator’s voice, maybe because of my lust to witness the view, I never stopped anywhere. I learned to perceive life itself as a never-ending movement. Behind all of that, though, my own fuel is love.

Since 2013 Eleftheria Stamou has been a dancer of the Greek National Opera Ballet. She has cooperated with distinguished choreographers such as Alexander Ekman, Douglas Lee, Pontus Lindberg, Renato Zanella and Yannick Boquin in classical and modern choreographies. χρόνος! Οι ώρες, τα δευτερόλεπτα. Σε πόσα

κομμάτια μπορεί να κοπεί

ένα δευτερόλεπτο; Από

τι υλικά είναι φτιαγμένος

και πώς είναι δυνατόν η

βαρύτητα να τον επηρεάζει; Πώς είναι δυνατόν η βαρύτητα

να διαστέλλει κάτι αόρατο, που υπάρχει

και δεν υπάρχει, που τόσο μας σημαδεύει,

τόσο μας ενώνει, και τελικά πόσο ακαριαία

μας χωρίζει. Ένα είναι σίγουρο, πως

για τον καθένα τρέχει διαφορετικά ενώ όλοι

έχουμε βιώσει αυτό (κυρίως σε ένα ερωτικό

ραντεβού): μετά από ένα λεπτό το ρολόι να

δείχνει πως έχουν περάσει τρεις ώρες.

Όταν ξεκινούσα να γράφω τον

Ιππόκαμπο ήταν μια δύσκολη περίοδος.

Ήμουν άνεργος και είχα κόψει το τσιγάρο.

Υπέφερα από φοβερές αυπνίες, γεγονός

που παραμόρφωνε τα βράδια και τα

επιβράδυνε σε τρομερά αργούς ρυθμούς.

Το κάθε βράδυ αντιστοιχούσε σε τρία.

Όταν όλοι κοιμόντουσαν, η ησυχία, σαν

μια άλλη βαρύτητα, τραβούσε τον χρόνο

κάτω, σε απύθμενα σημεία. Παρότι

έγραφα ασταμά-τητα εκείνη την περίοδο, καμία ιδέα δεν μπορούσε να με κρατήσει «πάνω». Όμως, ευτυχώς, βρέθηκε λύση: ο Ιππόκαμπος.

Όταν γράφω κάτι που μου αρέσει, είναι σαν να πέφτω σε ύπνωση. Όλες μου οι αισθήσεις, καθώς και το νευρικό μου σύστημα, επανακκεινούνται και επαναλειτουργούν από ένα νέο σώμα, το σώμα που περιγράφω, και πρέπει να έχω το νου μου, ανά πάσα στιγμή. Ακόμα και για αυτά που δεν θα γραφτούν ποτέ.

Στον κόσμο εκείνο, ισχύουν όλοι οι νόμοι

της φύσης που ισχύουν και εδώ. Οπότε, αν παραδείγματος χάριν, το φως από το παράθυρο πέφτει στο πρόσωπο του

ήρωα μου, θα πρέπει να ξέρω ακριβώς

που θα συνεχίσει να πέφτει αν ο ήρωας

μετακινηθεί δυο βήματα κοκ.

Ταυτόχρονα όμως ισχύει και το άλλο·

εκεί ο χρόνος περνάει διαφορετικά. Κάθε

μία ώρα σε εκείνο τον κόσμο αντιστοιχεί

σε ένα λεπτό στον πραγματικό. Τουλάχιστον, σε μένα αυτή ακριβώς είναι η αναλογία.

Οπότε έγινε έτσι ακριβώς: Η Άλις

Γουόντερ, η ηρωίδα μου, με πήρε από

το χέρι και με έσωσε. Με έσωσε από τα

τρομακτικά βράδια που δεν ακουγόταν

ανθρώπου φωνή και με περιήγησε σε

μια άλλη, παράλληλη ζωή που είχε τόσα

να μου μάθει και που δεν προλάβαινα

καν να ανοίγω-κλείνω τα μάτια... Βρήκα

άλλους ρυθμούς, έκανα φίλους, τα μάτια

της μαμάς μου γλύκαναν, ανακάλυψα νέα

σημεία στο σώμα μου... Δεν χρειάστηκε

να ξαναμετρήσω τα δευτερόλεπτα έναένα. Πέρασε ένας ολόκληρος χρόνος

χωρίς να καταλάβω το πώς. Ο ύπνος,

και με επιπλέον βοήθεια, επανήλθε στα φυσιολογικά του και το ρολόι άρχισε πάλι να μετράει σωστά χωρίς να με ξεγελάει.

Ξέρω, ωστόσο, πως τα τρελά διαστήματα θα ξανάρθουν. Γιατί αυτό

κάνει ο χρόνος και η ζωή. Κύκλους γύρω από τρεις δείκτες.

ΥΓ: Κλείνοντας, θα ήθελα να στείλω το παρακάτω μήνυμα σε όποιον ένιωσε ή θα νιώσει το ίδιο με μένα, τη νυχτερινή διαστολή του χρόνου: να κοιτάξει έξω από το παράθυρο της κουζίνας. Σίγουρα θα δει ένα φως ανοιχτό.

ime! Hours and seconds. In how many pieces can a second be divided? What is it made of and how is it possible for gravity to affect it? How it is possible for gravity to dilate something invisible, that both exists and doesn’t, something that puts its mark on us and brings us together, and finally how instantly it divides us.

One is for sure, that for each one it goes by differently, and all of us have experienced this (mostly during a romantic date): after one minute the clock shows that three hours have passed.

When I started writing ‘Ipokampos’ (Seahorse), it was a difficult period for me. I was unemployed, and I had just quit smoking. I was suffering from horrific insomnia, a fact that was deforming my nights while slowing them down terribly. Each night felt like three of them. When everybody was asleep, the calmness, as if it was another force of gravity, was pulling time downwards, in bottomless places. Even though I was writing non-stop during that time, no idea could keep me “up”. However, luckily, a solution was found: the Seahorse.

When I write something that I like, it feels like I am going into hypnosis. All my senses, along with my nervous system, reset themselves and they work again through a new body, the body that I describe, to which I should always pay attention, at any given moment. Even for those that will never be written. All the laws of nature that apply here, apply in that world too. Therefore, for example, the light that shines through the window on my hero’s face, I should be able to know if it will keep on shining on his face if my hero moves by two steps, etc.

At the same time, there is this other thing that applies. In there, time goes by in a different way. Every hour in that world is a minute in the real one. At least, that is the analogy to me.

Therefore, this is what precisely happened: Alice Wonder, my heroine, took me by my hand and saved me. She saved me from the terrifying nights when there was not one voice heard, and she walked me through another, parallel life that had so much to teach me, and there was no time for me to even blink… I found different tempos, I made friends, my mom’s eyes softened, I discovered new parts of my body… I didn’t have to count the seconds one by one again. A whole year went by without me realising how. Sleeping, with some extra help, went back to normal, and the clock started to count right this time without fooling me.

However, I know that those crazy moments will come back eventually. Because this is what time and life does. Circles around three clock hands.

Ps: Concluding, I would like to send the following message to whoever felt or will feel the same as me, the nightly expan-sion of time: take a look outside the kitchen’s window. There will certainly be a light on.

Tsouko is a visual storyteller who primarily works in the genre of documentary photography. His long-term projects and series often revolve around migration, social and political issues. His photographs stand out not only for the stories they tell but for how they tell them: aiming to go beyond the specifics of What, Who and Where they rather direct our attention on the human condition.

Το «Life in Limbo» αποτελεί ένα από

τα πρόσφατα έργα του Tsouko και περιλαμβάνει μια επιλογή φωτογραφιών από μια μεγαλύτερη σειρά που δημιουργήθηκε μεταξύ του 2021 και 2022 σε ένα παραθαλάσσιο θέρετρο στην Αλβανία.

Οι φωτογραφίες της έκθεσης απεικονίζουν παιδιά να παίζουν, ενήλικες να κοιτάζουν έξω από μεγάλα παράθυρα σε αναμονή, κίτρινες καρέκλες παραλίας, σκούρα άμμο και νερό σε διαφορετικές αποχρώσεις του μπλε. Εάν και ο ορίζοντας απουσιάζει σχεδόν πάντα, το περιβάλλον μοιάζει άνετο και καθησυχαστικό, και το Άγαλμα της Ελευθερίας στέκεται ελεύθερο, περιτριγυρισμένο από έναν συννεφιασμένο απογευματινό ουρανό.

Το αντίγραφο του Αγάλματος της Ελευθερίας αποτελεί μέρος του παραθαλάσσιου θέρετρου Rafaelo που βρίσκεται στη μικρή πόλη Shëngjin στις ακτές της Αδριατικής στην Αλβανία. Τον Αύγουστο του 2021, η Αλβανία συμφώνησε να δεχτεί Αφγανούς πρόσφυγες, και 1870 από αυτούς φιλοξενήθηκαν στο παραλιακό αυτό θέρετρο. Οι περισσότεροι, ως πρώην κυβερνητικοί αξιωματούχοι και υπάλληλοι αμερικανικών ιδρυμάτων, εκκενώθηκαν περιμένοντας να εγκατασταθούν στις ΗΠΑ, και κατέληξαν σε μια χώρα άγνωστη για αυτούς. Η πλειονότητα των προσφύγων δεν είχε ξαναδεί ποτέ τη θάλασσα. Παγιδευμένη σε διακοπές χωρίς ημερομηνία λήξης σε ένα πολυτελές θέρετρο, κυριαρχούνταν μεν από συναισθήματα ευγνωμοσύνης, για την διαφυγή τους από την εκδίκηση των Ταλιμπάν, αλλά και απογοήτευσης για το απροσδιόριστο μέλλον της μετεγκατάστασής τους στις ΗΠΑ.

Το ξενοδοχείο Rafaelo στην Αλβανία παρείχε καταλύματα σε Αφγανούς που μεταφέρθηκαν εκεί από διάφορες

αμερικανικές μη κερδοσκοπικές οργανώσεις (μεταξύ των οποίων η Vital Voices, που ιδρύθηκε από τη Χίλαρι Κλίντον, το National Endowment for Democracy, το Spirit of America, σύμμαχος του αμερικανικού στρατού, και η FIFA) και θυγατρικές τους.

Το Rafaelo υπέγραψε συμφωνίες με τις οργανώσεις αυτές, οι οποίες κάλυπταν τα έξοδα διαμονής και διατροφής. Μέχρι τον Δεκέμβριο του 2022, περισσότεροι από 1.700 Αφγανοί είχαν καταλάβει 485 από τα 657 δωμάτια του ξενοδοχείου, διαμορφώνοντας μια δική τους κοινότητα. Οι πρώτοι μήνες κύλησαν ειρηνικά: τα παιδιά απολάμβαναν να παίζουν ποδόσφαιρο, οι οικογένειες να κάνουν βόλτες στον παραλιακό πεζόδρομο και να ψωνίζουν είδη παντοπωλείου στο κοντινό Lezhë.

One of Tsouko's recent projects is "Life in Limbo" which features a selection of photographs taken from a larger series created between 2021 and 2022 in a beach resort in Albania.

The photographs in the exhibition show children playing, adults staring outside large windows in expectation, yellow beach chairs, dark sand and water in different blue shades. The surroundings are comfortable and soothing, but the horizon is almost always missing, while the Statue of Liberty stands freely, surrounded by a cloudy afternoon sky.

The copy of the Statue of Liberty is part of the beach resort Rafaelo located in the small town of Shëngjin on the Adriatic coast in Albania. In August 2021 Albania agreed to take Afghan refugees and 1870 of them were hosted at the beach resort. Most of them former government officials and employees of American institutions were evacuated expecting to resettle in the U.S. and ended up in a country they had never heard of. Most of the refugees had never seen the sea before and now they were living in a catered luxury resort, trapped in a never ending vacation dominated by feelings of gratitude for having escaped the revenge of Taliban’s and frustration for the undetermined future of their relocation in the US.

The Rafaelo hotel in Albania provided accommodation for Afghans who were brought to Albania by various American non-profit organizations (including Vital Voices, founded by Hillary Clinton, the National Endowment for Democracy, the U.S. military-allied Spirit of America, and FIFA) and affiliates. Rafaelo signed agreements with the US organizations who were covering the costs for room and board. By December 2022, more than 1,700 Afghans had occupied 485 out of 657 rooms in the hotel, creating a community of their own. The first months went by peacefully while children enjoyed playing soccer, families took walks on the boardwalk, and shopped for groceries in nearby Lezhë.

Nevertheless, without concrete information about what the future would bring and fearing to have been left behind, soon the tiredness and frustration of waiting started to rise. Some however tried to give meaning to this period. A young evacuee started instructing children on how to skateboard. Meanwhile, a team of artists were busy creating murals while teachers organized classes for both evacuee children and adults. Additionally, a handful of culinary entrepreneurs set up shop in the town and began selling their prepared food.

Παρ' όλα αυτά, με την άγνοια για το τι θα έφερνε το μέλλον και με το φόβο ότι θα έμεναν πίσω, η κούραση και η απογοήτευση της αναμονής των ανθρώπων εκεί σύντομα άρχισαν να εντείνονται. Κάποιοι από αυτούς ωστόσο προσπάθησαν να αποδώσουν νόημα σε εκείνη την περίοδο. Ένας νεαρός δίδασκε στα παιδιά σκέιτμπορντ, μια ομάδα καλλιτεχνών ασχολούνταν με τη δημιουργία τοιχογραφιών, ενώ δάσκαλοι διοργάνωναν μαθήματα τόσο για τα παιδιά των εκκενωμένων όσο και για τους ενήλικες. Επιπλέον, αρκετοί επιχειρηματίες του τομέα της μαγειρικής έστησαν ένα μαγαζί στην πόλη και άρχισαν να πωλούν τα έτοιμα φαγητά τους.

Ο Tsouko επισκέφθηκε το θέρετρο αρκετές φορές και αφιέρωσε πολύ χρόνο για να γνωρίσει προσωπικά τους ανθρώπους και τις ιστορίες τους. Η σύνδεσή του με τους πρόσφυγες τού επέτρεψε να τραβήξει προσωπικές φωτογραφίες που, μαζί με τις ιστορίες τους, δημιουργούν συνολικά μια αφήγηση με πολλαπλές προοπτικές. Τον Οκτώβριο και τον Νοέμβριο του 2021 ο Ilir επισκέφθηκε το Αφγανιστάν με αποστολή να φωτογραφίσει και να καταγράψει την αλλαγή στην ζωή και τα δικαιώματα των γυναικών μετά την επιστροφή των Ταλιμπάν στην εξουσία.

Τον Δεκέμβριο του ίδιου έτους, το State Department των ΗΠΑ, σε ενημέρωση που εξέδωσε, ανακοίνωσε, πως τα άτομα που είχαν αναχωρήσει από το Αφγανιστάν με πτήση τσάρτερ πριν από τις 31 Αυγούστου και διέμεναν πλέον στην Αλβανία ή σε άλλες χώρες, θα μπορούσαν να ενταχθούν στο εγχείρημα του "Allies Welcome", καθιστώντας τους υποψήφιους για επανεγκατάσταση στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες. Επιτέλους, κάποια καλά νέα για τους πρόσφυγες στο Rafaelo.

Την άνοιξη του 2022, όταν ο Ilir επέστρεψε στο Rafaelo, ορισμένοι από τους πρόσφυγες που γνώριζε προσωπικά, είχαν ήδη φύγει και πλέον αντάλλασσαν μηνύματα μέσω WhatsApp από τις ΗΠΑ ή τον Καναδά. Η πλειονότητα αυτών που έφυγαν από το ξενοδοχείο είχε εγκατασταθεί στον Καναδά, ο οποίος προσέφερε μια ταχύτερη λύση για την μόνιμη επανεγκατάστασή τους. Σήμερα περίπου 700 από αυτούς περιμένουν ακόμη στο ξενοδοχείο προκειμένου να διεκπεραιωθούν οι υποθέσεις τους, ενώ κάποιοι άλλοι ενδεχομένως χρειαστεί να μείνουν και στην Αλβανία.

Tsouko visited the resort on several occasions and spent a lot of time getting to know the people and each of their stories personally. His connection with the refugees allowed him to capture intimate photographs that, together with their stories, create a narrative with multiple perspectives. In October and November 2021 Ilir visited Afghanistan with an assignment to photograph and document how the life and rights of women had changed after the return to power of the Taliban.

In December 2021, the US State Department provided an update, announcing that individuals who had departed Afghanistan on a charter flight prior to August 31st and were currently residing in Albania or other countries would be considered for inclusion in Operation Allies Welcome, making them eligible for resettlement in the United States. Finally, some good news for the refugees at Rafelo.

Upon Ilir’s return to Rafaelo in Spring 2022 some of the refugees he had personally known, had already left and now they were writing to him via WhatsApp from US or Canada. The majority of those who left Rafaelo had settled in Canada who offered a faster option to obtain permanent resettlement. Today around 700 of them are still waiting in the hotel for their cases to be processed and some of them might have to stay in Albania.

“Life in Limbo” has been presented by Space 52 in Athens from 2 to 29 of April 2023. Ilir Tsouko was born in Albania (1990) and grew up in Athens, Greece. He is actually based in Berlin and Tirana. Adela Demetja is a curator born in 1984 Tirana, Albania living between Frankfurt am Main and Tirana. space52 is a contemporary artist-run space founded in 2017 by the artist Dionisis Christofilogiannis.

Πέρασα στη Νομική Σχολή Αθηνών και για 3 χρόνια πίεζα τον εαυτό μου να τελειώσει μια σχολή που δεν με γέμιζε.

Τον ίδιο καιρό έκανα παράλληλες σπουδές στην Επικοινωνία και ζούσα σε ρυθμούς γρήγορους, απαιτητικούς και αγχωτικούς. Όταν όμως μετά από λίγα χρόνια εμφανίστηκε ένα σύνδρομο, η ινομυαλγία, που με καθήλωσε στο κρεβάτι για μήνες, αναγκάστηκα να σταματήσω

όλες μου τις μέχρι τότε δραστηριότητες

και να αλλάξω τη ζωή μου. Παράτησα τη Νομική και αποφάσισα να ακολουθήσω αποκλειστικά την φωτογραφία που αγαπούσα τόσο. Επέλεξα να παραμερίσω τα επικριτικά σχόλια και αφοσιώθηκα στον ευατό μου. Δεν κυνηγούσα πια την επιτυχία και δεν προσπαθούσα να αποδείξω τίποτα… Είχα αρχίσει να απολαμβάνω τη ζωή μου. Έβαλα σε προτεραιότητα την σωματική και ψυχική μου υγεία και φρόντισα να περνάω τον χρόνο μου ευχάριστα και εποικοδομητικά.

Various events have marked my life over time and have brought me to where I am today. The most important was my adoption at the age of four which I consider the happiest event of my life. It was followed by my growing up in Rhodes and the beautiful childhood years but also the most difficult teenage years marked by bullying, but also a lot of art.

Είμαι 24 ετών και είμαι φωτογράφος. Όσοι

με γνωρίζουν έχουν δει τα πορτρέτα μου

στο Instagram ή την εμφάνιση μου στην

τηλεόραση, σε διάφορα περιοδικά ή την

ομιλία μου στο Ted x το Μάιο του 2022.

Κάτι που με χαρακτηρίζει είναι

η αναπηρία μου. Γεννήθηκα με ένα

σύνδρομο που ονομάζεται φωκομέλεια

των άνω άκρων. Ο περισσότερος κόσμος

που με γνωρίζει πρώτη φορά ή με

βλέπει στο δρόμο αναρωτιέται πως έχω

καταφέρει όσα έχω προαναφέρει κι άλλα

πολλά. Είναι λογικό όμως να αναρωτιέται

αν σκεφτείς ότι έρευνα στον Καναδά έχει

δείξει ότι το 53% των ατόμων με αναπηρία

ζουν περίθωριοποιημένοι! Πόσο μάλλον

στην Ελλάδα…

Διάφορα γεγονότα έχουν σημαδέψει

τη ζωή μου στο πέρασμα του χρόνου και

με έχουν φέρει σήμερα στο σημείο που

είμαι. Το πιο σημαντικό ήταν η υιοθεσία

μου σε ηλικία τεσσάρων ετών που θεωρώ

το πιο ευτυχές συμβάν της ζωής μου.

Ακολούθησε το μεγάλωμα μου στη Ρόδο

και τα όμορφα παιδικά χρόνια αλλά και τα

πιο δύσκολα εφηβικά που σημαδεύτηκαν

από bullying, αλλά και πολλή τέχνη.

Ο

χρόνος είναι μια έννοια αφαιρετική, ένα κατασκεύασμα του ανθρώπου.

Μέσα από την φωτογραφία έμαθα ότι ο χρόνος μπορεί να σταματήσει με ένα κλικ και έτσι δημιουργεί ένα πάγωμα διαρκείας που τροφοδοτεί τις αναμνήσεις μας. Πιστεύω ότι όλα τα γεγονότα της

ζωής μου είναι στιγμές που ο χρόνος πάγωσε και μου έδωσε την ευκαιρία να αλλάξω πορεία. Ο χρόνος για μένα είναι αναμνήσεις και οι αναμνήσεις είναι το παρελθόν που προβάλλεται στο τώρα και στο μέλλον.

εκεί στον κόσμο της φωτογραφίας.

Γνωστή για τα αυτοπορτραίτα της

έχει συμμετάσχει σε εκθέσεις στο εξωτερικό και φωτογραφίες της έχουν δημοσιευτεί στην ιταλική Vogue και σε άλλα σημαντικά μέσα. Μιλάει δημόσια για την αναπηρία της και εμπνέει όλους εμάς για να μη σταματάμε πουθενά.

I am 24 years old and I am a photographer. Anyone who knows me has seen my portraits on Instagram or my appearance on TV, in various magazines, or my speech at Ted X in May 2022.

Something that characterises me is my disability. I was born with a syndrome called phocomelia of the upper limbs. Most people who meet me for the first time or see me on the street wonder how I have achieved what I* mentioned above and much more. But it's reasonable to wonder when you consider that research

I went to the Athens Law School and for 3 years I pushed myself to finish a school that didn't fulfil me. At the same time, I was doing parallel studies in Communication and living at a fast, demanding, and stressful pace. But when after a few years a syndrome appeared, fibromyalgia, which confined me to bed for months, I had to stop all my previous activities and change my life. I dropped out of law school and decided to exclusively pursue photography, which I loved so much. I chose to put aside the critical comments and I was devoted to myself. I was no longer chasing success and I wasn’t trying to prove anything… I started enjoying my life. I prioritised my physical and mental health and made sure to spend my time pleasantly and constructively.

Time is an abstract concept, a human construct. Through photography, I learned that time can be stopped with a click and thus creates a lasting freeze that feeds our memories. I believe that all the events of my life are moments when time froze and gave me the opportunity to change course. Time to me is memories and memories are the past projected into the present and the future.

Nassia Stouraiti studied Law, then moved to Communication studies and finally devoted herself to photography. Known for her self-portraits she has shown her work in numerous exhibitions all over the world and her photos have been featured in the Italian edition of Vogue and other significant media. She is a public speaker of her disability and she an unstoppable source of inspiration for all of us.

The slow food movement, whose foundation is sourdough bread, reminds us of the need to slow our life’s rhythms down, and dedicate some time into tasting and appreciating foods that we eat while connecting with the communities and civilizations that produce them. That movement calls upon us to take a step back from the insane modern life’s tempos and rediscover the beauty and depth of human experience.

Σε έναν κόσμο που κινείται με ιλιγγιώδεις ρυθμούς, το να φτιάχνει κανείς στο χέρι ψωμί με προζύμι μοιάζει με μια πράξη σχεδόν επαναστατική. Προσωπικά το αντιλαμβάνομαι ως έναν τρόπο να επιβραδύνω τους ρυθμούς μου και να επανασυνδεθώ με τον εαυτό μου, ενώ παράλληλα αποτελεί και ένα μέσο έκφρασης -ενά καμβά όπου οι ιδέες μου παίρνουν μια τρισδιάστατη μορφή. Καθώς ανακατεύω το αλεύρι και το νερό, αφήνομαι στην απλότητα των συστατικών. Είναι μια διαδικασία που δεν μπορεί να επισπευσθεί και απαιτεί ένα επίπεδο παρουσίας και προσοχής που συχνά

λείπει από τη σύγχρονη μας ζωή. Καθώς πλάθω τη ζύμη και τη μορφοποιώ με το χέρι, συνδέομαι με τα υλικά και τη διαδικασία. Είναι μια υπενθύμιση πως κάθε δημιουργική δράση εμπεριέχει χρόνο και προσπάθεια αλλά και ομορφιά.

Σε μια καθημερινότητα που συχνά μοιάζει αποσυνδεδεμένη και κατακερματισμένη, το ψωμί από προζύμι αποτελεί μια έκφραση διασύνδεσης και ενσυναίσθησης. Έχουμε συνηθίσει στην γρήγορη επικοινωνία και ψυχαγωγία, και την στιγμιαία ικανοποίηση. Περιμένουμε τα πάντα να είναι διαθέσιμα στα χέρια μας, χωρίς αναμονή ή καθυστέρηση. Καταναλώνουμε τις πληροφορίες και τη ψυχαγωγία αποσπασματικά, σκρολάροντας στα διάφορα ψηφιακά μέσα και βομβαρδιζόμαστε συνεχώς από νέες πληροφορίες. Αλλά εν μέσω της βιασύνης μας να συμβαδίσουμε με τους ρυθμούς της ψηφιακής ζωής, κινδυνεύουμε να χάσουμε την επαφή με τον πραγματικό κόσμο. Καθώς παρατηρώ το ψωμί να φουσκώνει, μου υπενθυμίζει τη δύναμη της υπομονής, καθώς και την αξία και την ομορφιά του αργού και του ουσιαστικού. Είναι μια φιλοσοφία ζωής που πηγαίνει πέρα από την κουζίνα, σε μια προσπάθεια μου να ζω με μεγαλύτερη ενσυνειδητότητα.

In a world that moves at a dizzying pace, making sourdough bread by hand seems like an almost revolutionary act. I personally see it as a way to slow down and reconnect with myself, while also being a medium of expression -a canvas where my ideas take on a three-dimensional form. While I mix flour with water, I let myself go with the simplicity of the ingredients. It is a procedure that cannot be hastened and it demands a level of presence and attention that we miss from our everyday life. As I mold the dough and shape it by hand, I connect with the ingredients and the process. It is a reminder that every creative action involves time and effort as well as beauty.

In a daily life that often seems disconnected and fragmented, sourdough bread is an expression of interconnectedness and empathy. We are used to fast communication and entertainment, and instant gratification. We expect everything to be available at our fingertips, without waiting or delay. We consume information and entertainment fragmentarily, scrolling through various digital media and constantly bombarded with new information. But in our rush to keep up with the pace of digital life, we risk losing touch with the real world. As I watch the bread rise, it reminds me of the power of patience, and the value and beauty of the slow and the essential. It's a philosophy of life that goes beyond the kitchen, in an effort to live more mindfully.

Η Εύα Παπαμαργαρίτη είναι καλλιτέχνης με έδρα την Αθήνα και το Λονδίνο. Χρησιμοποιεί μια πληθώρα μέσων, όπως κινούμενη εικόνα, έντυπο υλικό και γλυπτικές εγκαταστάσεις που διερευνούν τη σχέση μεταξύ ψηφιακού χώρου και υλικής πραγματικότητας, καθώς και τη δυναμική ενδο-σύνδεση και ενδο-δράση των γεγονότων που συμβαίνουν σε αυτά τα συστήματα. Το έργο της Παπαμαργαρίτη εμβαθύνει σε ζητήματα και θέματα που σχετίζονται με την συγχρονικότητα, τη συγχώνευση και τη διάλυση του φυσικού μας περιβάλλοντος με το εικονικό, το καθημερινό και το εξαίρετο. Eva Papamargariti is an artist, based between Athens and London. She uses a variety of mediums such as moving image, printed material and sculptural installations that explore the relationship between digital space and material reality, as well as the dynamic intra - connection and intra - action of events that occur in these systems. Papamargariti's work delves into issues and themes related to simultaneity, the merging and dissolving of our surroundings with the virtual, the mundane and the extraordinary. Furthermore, her practice revolves around processes that are established through our online presence, such as the construction and shifting of our identities, avatars, vernacular language/imagery and worldbuilding. Also, the traces that our operations inscribe to the objects and habitat where we find ourselves situated, through our continuous interaction with devices and machinic artifacts.

She has exhibited her work in institutions, museums and festivals such as the New Museum (New York), Whitney Museum (New York), Tate Britain (London), MoMA PS1 (New York), The Bass (Miami), Museum of Contemporary Art, Montreal, Athens Biennale( Athens), Thessaloniki Biennale (Thessaloniki), Her work is featured in public and private collections such as Dakis Joannou Collection (Deste Foundation), Onassis Foundation, PCAI Collection, MOMuS collection and more.

Ο Νικόλας Βεντουράκης είναι εικαστικός με εξειδίκευση στο μέσο της φωτογραφίας. Είναι απόφοιτος της σχολής καλών τεχνών Central Saint Martins του Λονδίνου. Στο καλλιτεχνικό του έργο επιχειρείται η ανάλυση των παρανοήσεων και των υποθέσεων που δημιουργούνται κατά την διάδραση μεταξύ έργου και θεατή.

Nikolas Ventourakis is a visual artist living and working between Athens and London. His practice situates in the threshold between art and document, in the attempt to interrogate the status of the photographic image. He is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and has exhibited internationally in Group and Solo shows.

One could never find the cosmic aurora hidden in the antre

Panos Tsagaris’ photographic work aims to transcend traditional practices of imagery, by incorporating existing published material with transformative processes, towards the production of symbolic objects that underline our individual and collective struggle with spiritual development.

The smooth, fragile and appeasing surface of the gold leaf in the “Golden Newspaper” series, subverts the violence and intensity of the visual imagery, while at the same time its value exemplifies the questionable relation between the self and material wealth. Therefore, by using the sociopolitical reality of a nation to attest to the struggle of the individual, the work becomes the connecting link of the space between the real and the unconscious. This idea is further expressed in the work “TIME (Somewhere between God and Naught)”, where the space between the real and the unconscious is not only emphasized via the illuminating process from dark to light, but also expanded in length and size to portray the distance of that space between those two circumstances.

The actual space the work occupies is therefore indicative of the symbolic representation of the distance in stages we need to cover to reach the truth, while the time required for the absorption of the work reflects the temporal element of the process. The degree of struggle visualized in the newspapers where the text is removed, is reversed here and replaced with textual imagery, void of photos, asserting in that way the verbal interpretation of the transformative process. A political phenomenon becomes the vessel through which the need for selfdevelopment is highlighted, while the selection of global press covers in the works implicates the universal reach of this condition, and the essence of the element of interconnectedness associated with spiritual growth.

Θυμήσου το βελούδινο μητρικό άγγιγμα που πλεει σε έναν ωκεανό φωτός, τον Θεό Ήλιο να σε καλωσορίζει στο αιώνιο ταξίδι, το οξυγόνο να ταξιδεύει πέντε φορές γύρω από τη Γη μέχρι να φτάσει στα πνευμόνια σου, την ήχο της δημιουργίας όταν γελάς με την καρδιά σου, το ατέρμονο φιλί μιας αθάνατης ψυχής. Πηγαινε πίσω και θυμήσου όλη αυτήν την ομορφιά, κανείς δε μπορεί να στην πάρει. Ειναι όλη δική σου.

Χρόνος Ζωή. Συναντηθηκαμε για έναν ανείπωτο σκοπό. Οι

καρδιές μας ενωμένες με τη δύναμη της αγάπης πέταξαν σαν

αποδημητικά πουλιά με την ταχύτητα του φωτός σε αλλεπάλληλες διαστάσεις σκορπίζοντας αστρόσκονη στον Διαφορετικό Κόσμο και μοιραστήκαμε τη μεγάλη είδηση ότι η πηγή της ζωής είναι μέσα μας. Χρόνος Τώρα. Είμαστε Ενα, Ειμαστε το Αιώνιο Τώρα. Ξεκινήσαμε την μάχη με τον εαυτό μας και ο χρόνος αναπόφευκτα έγινε αγάπη. Σπάσαμε το φράγμα του ήχου και το μονοπάτι του γαλαξία μας, φωτίστηκε μπροστά μας. Πλεγμένοι με ένα αόρατο νήμα μεταξύ πραγματικότητας και ονείρου, οι στιγμές πάγωσαν τον χρόνο και όλοι αποκοιμηθήκαμε σαν ένα σώμα στο σπίτι μας, τη μητέρα Γη! Νωρίς το πρωί, ένα κοσμικό γκονγκ με τον ήχο του, άνοιξε την δρόμο της αφύπνισης μας με ένα ξεκάθαρο μήνυμα, να δώσουμε αγάπη και να μοιραστούμε τους καρπούς που συλλέξαμε με φίλους και με τους νέους μας συνοδοιπόρους. Καλώς ήρθατε στην ανατολή του ηλίου του Otro Mundo. Στην αναγέννηση της θύμισης. Μήπως Θυμάσαι τώρα;

φεστιβάλ, το οποίο δημιουργήθηκε από μια δραστήρια ομάδα φίλων, που μοιράζονται το ίδιο πάθος για τη μουσική, την πνευματική σύνδεση, την αγάπη για τη ζωή και τη φύση. Μέσω του χορού, της electronic και ευρύτερης dance σκηνής, της κίνησης και των εναλλακτικών θεραπειών μας καλούν να γιορτάσουμε το σώμα μας και να εξυψώσουμε το πνεύμα μας. To δεύτερο Otro Mundo πραγματοπιήθηκε από τις 2 έως τις 4 Ιουνίου 2023 στην παραλία της Ελαίας στην Πελοπόννησο.

Time Zero. Close your eyes and go back to the source. Where with an invisible thread we are all connected and we are one. Remember that plush mother’s touch that floats in a light ocean, the God Sun welcoming you in this eternal journey,  the oxygen traveling five times around the Earth until reaching your lungs, the sound of creation when you wholeheartedly laugh, the never-ending kiss of an immortal soul. Go back and remember all of this beauty, no one can take it from you. It is all yours.

Time Life. We met each other for a reason never to be spoken about. Our hearts connected with the power of love flew like migratory birds with the speed of light in parallel dimensions scattering stardust at the Different World and we shared the big news that the source of life is inside us.

Time Now. We are one, We are the Eternal Now. We began the battle with ourselves and time inevitably became love. We broke the sound barrier and our galaxy’s path filled with light ahead of us. Intertwined with an invisible thread between reality and dream, time was frozen by moments and we all fell asleep like a body in our home, Mother Earth! Early in the morning, a cosmic gong with its sound, opened the way of our awakening with a clear message, to give love and share the fruits that we gathered with friends and with our new fellow passengers. Welcome to the rise of the Otro Mundo sun. To the rebirth of memory. Perhaps you remember now?

Otro Mundo Gathering is an independent festival, which was created by an active group of friends, who share the same passion for music, spiritual connection, and love for life and nature. Through dancing, electronic and broader dance scene, moving, and alternative healing, they invite us to celebrate our body and rise our spirit.
