MATHEMATICAL ORGANIZATIONS The department of Mathematical Sciences sponsors student chapters of the following organizations: -

The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Pi Mu Epsilon (a mathematics honor society)

Students who are members of these organizations have the opportunity to participate in mathematics competitions and attend mathematics conference locally, regionally, and nationally. The following meetings are held annually: -

Mat hFest - the largest annual summertime gathering of mathematicians.

MAA Louisiana/ Mississippi Sect ional Meet ing - held annually in the spring and provides a variety of opportunities for student participation: -

Int egr at ion Bee - Students compete for cash prizes by evaluating integrals.

Team compet it ion - teams of four students solve math problems in various areas of math.

St udent Paper Compet it ion an opportunity to present research to conference participants.
