Der Trend ist nicht neu. Rauchfreie Zonen verbreiten sich immer mehr und beeinflussen inzwischen auch manch einen Zigarrenfreund. Bemerkbar macht sich das insbesondere an den veränderten Formaten: Griff man früher für den kurzen Genuss zu Zigarillos oder Kleinstzigarren, so werden die Formate inzwischen immer kürzer und dicker. Seit einigen Wochen ist nun auch die neue Puro d’Oro Gorditos von Davidoff auf dem Markt und so lohnt es sich, einmal über die «Kleinen Dicken» zu sprechen. Das ursprünglich verfolgte Ziel war durchaus erstrebenswert: Auch Zigarrenfreunden sollte es möglich sein, selbst in kurzer Zeit eine echte Zigarre geniessen zu dürfen. Was mit der Länge einer klassischen Zigarette und einem kleinen 43er Ringmass begann (z. B. Davidoff Entreacto), wurde allerdings schon bald zwar nicht länger, dafür aber umso dicker. Und so sind die «kleinen Dicken»

The original objective was certainly desirable: a cigar smoker should be able to enjoy a truly genuine cigar in a short time. What began in the length of a classical cigarette and a small ring gauge of 43 (e.g. Davidoff Entreacto), did not get any longer, but quickly grew a good deal fatter. Nowadays the “Short and Fat” cigars have a ring gauge of 56 or 58, but remain only barely 10 cm long. Ein Sohn, auf den man stolz sein kann. Wir möchten Ihnen Roger und seine Familie einmal aus einem anderen Blickwinkel vorstellen und haben seiner Mutter Lynette ein paar persönliche Fragen gestellt.
Frau Federer, hat die Leidenschaft ihres Sohnes eigentlich Tradition in der Familie? Spielen Sie und Ihr Mann auch Tennis? Ja, wir haben sogar intensiv gespielt. An Wochenenden waren wir meistens auf dem Tennisplatz. Unsere Kinder Diana und Roger haben uns begleitet. Roger hat schon als kleines Kind mit Tennisschlägern gespielt. Rogers Frau Mirka ist auch Tennisspielerin. Spielen die beiden manchmal zusammen? Heute nicht mehr oft. Es kommt vor, dass Mirka einspringt, wenn er keinen «Sparringpartner» hat. Sie macht es gerne, auch in den Ferien, wenn er eine Trainingseinheit einbauen muss, um wieder in den Rhythmus zu kommen. 72 Interview

Luxury Life talks to his mother, Lynette Federer, about the importance and role of the family environment for her son, about his modesty and about what he thinks and does on social issues.
Mrs. Federer, is your son’s passion for tennis a family trait? Do you and your husband also play tennis? Yes. We actually used to play a lot of tennis. We usually spent our weekends on the tennis court. Our children, Diana and Roger, would come with us. Even when he was small, Roger used to play with rackets. Roger‘s wife is also a tennis player. Does he ever play tennis with Mirka? They don’t play together all that often any more. Still, Mirka does occasionally play with him if he needs a sparring partner. She likes doing so – even when they are on holiday – if Roger needs to train. It also helps him get back into rhythm. Did Roger already have an aptitude for movement when he was a small child? Did his love for tennis show early on? Roger showed a great desire to move as soon as he learned to walk, and he was very active as a child. He was always playing with some kind of ball and was fascinated by that. We noticed his gift very early: he had the ability to aim balls when he threw them and he was also good at catching them. Letztes Jahr wurde er zum fünften Mal Sportler des Jahres und von 2004 - 2007 viermal Weltsportler des Jahres. Er gilt als der weltbeste Tennispieler: Rekordzahl von 17 Grand-Slam Turniere, 76 Titelgewinne im Einzel und acht im Doppel, sieben Wimbledon Trophäen London. 2009 hat der Schweizer mit Spitznamen «King Roger» die Tennisspielerin Mirka Vavrinec geheiratet. 2009 Geburt der Zwillinge Myla und Charlene. Er war UNICEF Botschafter und hat 2003 Die «Roger Federer Foundation» gegründet, die insbesondere Kinder in diversen Regionen Afrikas und der Schweiz unterstützt. 2011 wurde er, nebst Nelson Mandela zur meist geachteten Person weltweit auserkoren. Your daughter Diana is also the mother of two charming twins. How do you enjoy being a grandmother? It is a lovely, and relatively new, role for me. It’s a coincidence that both our children have twins. I am very proud of them – and I will certainly never be bored! I take them out a lot into the countryside or go to parks with them. We visit farms, makes figurines out of Plasticine, we draw or play games, and I love telling them stories. Your son is much admired and very popular. Many fans call him “King Roger”. How does he like that title and what do you think of it? It certainly flatters him, and it’s an honour to be termed a king. But as far as we are concerned, he is simply our son. It is impressive how modest he has managed to remain, despite his success. Did you and your husband set an example? Yes, I think we did. Both my husband and I come from unpretentious families. Both sets of parents had to work hard after the war. Their families were always important to them. Roger is very down to earth, and I think we were able to pass that on to him. Your family could be compared to a family company. Do you discuss every important decision together? Roger involves us in a lot of his decision-making. We often discuss things together and cherish these exchanges of views. We take care of his fan mail, requests and payments. Roger has established a foundation that supports children and educational projects. Can you tell us about it? The foundation is ten years old this year. As I am a South African, it seems natural to support projects in Africa. The Porsche 911 is having its 50-year anniversary, and Porsche is celebrating the most successful sports car in the world with a spectacular world premiere: The new 911 GT3 continues the series of high-performance sports cars with an impressive performance leap. The new GT3, clearly identifiable by his distinctive, fixed rear wing, is based on the current 911 Carrera series. However, engine, transmission, and chassis are independent further developments, sometimes with radical differences to the other 911 Carrera models. The two-seater is powered by a 3.8 litre flat engine yielding 475 PS. For the first time, the GT3 comes with the optimised 7-speed Doppelkupplung PDK. The new GT3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, the top speed is 315 km/h.

The new Jaguar F-TYPE represents a return to the company’s heartland: a two-seater, convertible sports car focused on performance, agility and driver involvement. Three variants will be available at launch in the middle of 2013: F-TYPE, F-TYPE S and F-TYPE V8 S. Each is distinguished by the power output of its supercharged petrol engine. A new 3.0 litre V6 is available in either 340 PS or 380 PS variants, powering the F-TYPE and F-TYPE S respectively. The V6 models are joined by a newly developed member of Jaguar’s 5.0 litre V8 engine family. Producing 495 PS, the F-TYPE V8 S model accelerates from 0 to100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. The 380PS V6 F-TYPE S covers the 0 to100 km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds and the 340PS V6 F-TYPE accelerates from 0 to100 km/h in 5.3 seconds.
The third-generation CTS sedan is based on the high-performing rear-drive architecture of the award-winning ATS sport sedan, moving Cadillac into the prestigious class of upper midsize luxury sedans. A range of power-dense powertrains underpin its performance, including the all-new Cadillac Twin-Turbo engine and eightspeed automatic transmission. A longer, lower and more athleticlooking proportion is introduced on Cadillac’s landmark sedan and evolves the brand’s Art & Science design philosophy. The Twin-Turbo is SAE-certified at 420 horsepower. The 2014 CTS is also available with a naturally aspirated 3.6 L V6 rated at 321 PS and a 2.0 L turbocharged engine rated at an estimated 272 PS. Production of the 2014 CTS begins this fall.

Active ride height, and aerodynamics work with large adjustable rear wing to give ground effect suction and optimised downforce. 916 PS generated by 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine coupled to an electric motor gives tremendous power and accelerates the P1 from 0 to 300 km/h in less than 17 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 350 km/h. To maintain exclusivity, production will be strictly limited to 375 units.
The LaFerrari is the first car in Ferrari history to be powered by the HY-KERS system (Hybrid-Technology). The V12 with 6262-cc punches out 800 PS and revs to a maximum of 9,250 rpm, a record for an engine of this displacement.
