Invisibly setting the exquisite stones was a great technical challenge which was achieved with flying colours, thus ensuring that the essence of the works of art has been captured in all the pieces in the collection. The free-flowing lines of the paintings are drawn in sparkling gems – the swirls, cascades, spirals and seamless loops of the earrings, necklaces and rings flatter the wearer while the metal settings are completely hidden from view. All that can be seen is the consummate reflection of the vibrant, exuberant works of art.

Driving one of the most famous circuits in the world, sitting behind the wheel of a Ferrari 488 Challenge, is a thrilling experience combined with a divine day at “Spa Francorchamps”. The idea of D2P was born of Stephane Corremans who melded the customers needs with the ethos of the race academy. Everything from arrival to departure is perfectly organised; including the shuttle service from the Luxembourg Airport in an S-Class Limousine. As we arrived, there were two large D2P race trucks and in garage 41, there was a splendid lounge area containing the racing simulator and a cabin to change. We were introduced to the team and shown through to the front garage where two Lotus 3 Elevens, a Ferrari 458 Challenge car and a breathtaking brand-new Ferrari 488 Challenge greeted us. After testing the circuit on the simulator we were fitted with lightweight Adidas fireproof race suits, carbon fiber boots and helmets. Gino Bux and John Wartique, who have been racing champions for over 10 years, gave us instructions. They were very encouraging, giving us the confidence to drive on the circuit using our pre agreed hand signals. The speed and the primal motor sounds are an amazing emotional rush, after 2 laps it all becomes an exhilarating experience. As the temperatures here are much colder than those near the coast, we would advise you to pack warm clothing and rainwear. Following a few unforgettable days in Monteverde, we continued on to La Fortuna − a small town in Alajuela province − and its famed hot springs. “La Fortuna” is Spanish for “the fortune” and it was given this name in 1948 due to its fertile soil. The previously dormant Arenal erupted unexpectedly on 29th July 1968, attracting countless tourists. La Fortuna is now the most important base from which to explore the Arenal, and although the volcano has not released any of its red-hot lava since 2010, the town and the region continue to be one of the most popular tourist destinations in Costa Rica. We checked into the Tabacon Hot Springs Resort where we indulged in the relaxing waters. A day pass to the Baldi Hot Spring Resort Hotel & Spa is also a great experience. Visitors must, however, bear in mind that it is a tourist attraction and although it is not crowded it is certainly very popular. We spent one day on an 8-hour private hike to the Arenal and the surrounding jungle, where we encountered an immense diversity of wildlife and soothed our weary limbs at a hot spring. 84

Chira Monteverde Glamping Pots

Nach ein paar Wochen Strandurlaub reisten wir weiter ins Landesinnere. Wir fuhren etwa drei Stunden in nordöstlicher Richtung, überquerten die Brücke über dem Fluss Tarcoles, in dem sich Dutzende Riesenkrokodile tummelten, und erreichten schliesslich Monteverde. Das berühmte Bergdorf überraschte uns nicht nur mit einer Reihe von ausgezeichneten Restaurants, sondern auch mit einigen eleganten und luxuriösen Hotels und Ferienhäusern. Wer auf der Suche nach einer etwas originelleren Unterkunft ist, dem sei das Chira Monteverde Glamping Pots empfohlen. Unsere „Kapsel“ verfügte über einen eigenen Whirlpool und eine Aussendusche und bot einen spektakulären Ausblick über den Regenwald bis weit in die Ferne (www.chiraglamping.com).
