9/11 MEMORIAL AT HAVERSTRAW BAY PARK

Historic Sites Steeped in history and the site of many pivotal moments in the foundation of the state and even the nation, Rockland County’s historic sites and landmarks serve as a living history lesson. Starting at the historic ’76 House in Tappan, the oldest pub in the United States and the site of the Revolutionary War trail and imprisonment of British Mayor John Andre, to the Stony Point Battlefield, where General “Mad” Anthony Wayne earned his nickname, Rockland’s historical trail traces the country's deep and storied roots. From the Dutch settlers who discovered Rockland in 1675 to Haverstraw’s establishment as the brick-making capital of the Hudson Valley in the 1800s, which helped build up the island of Manhattan, Rockland County is a rich tapestry of New York State’s history and very foundation.
