A Robotmaster directory will be created in the shared mcamx#, and will contain the post-processors, robot models and the tooling. Once the installation is complete, you may need to configure Robotmaster toolbars in Mastercam速.

2. Installing Robotmaster toolbars into Mastercam速 X# To activate toolbars select Robotmaster_V6 by right clicking on the main toolbar. The Robotmaster toolbar should be automatically created during installation. If it is not created, this section will guide you in creating it manually. To setup simulation toolbars select Customize by right clicking on the main toolbar.

Right Click

Quick Start Guide How to use Robotmaster Robotmaster is a robot programming software integrated inside Mastercam速 comprising of robot parameter interfaces, a robot simulator and post processors that generate robot programs.

1. Configuring Mastercam速 X# for Robotmaster Please refer to the previous section on how to install the simulation icons within Mastercam速 X#. Robotmaster is initialized by setting the current mill machine definition in Mastercam速 to a Robot. To do this: a. From menu bar choose: Machine Type then Mill then Manage list

b.

Select your robot brands, and then click Add

5

Quick Start Guide c.

Choose the machine to be used: ROBOTMASTER_V6_<robot brand>

2. Starting robot parameters window Robotmaster allows a user to input robot specific parameters and generates off-line codes for 6 axis robots. The first step in using Robotmaster is to access the robot global parameters window. Select any operation and click on the Robotmaster Global Settings button.

The second step in using Robotmaster is to access the robot local parameters window. Select only one operation and click on the Robotmaster Local Settings button.

In order to properly launch the robot parameters window the operation needs to have a valid program name.

Quick Start Guide 3. Using the simulator Please follow the steps outlined on page 4 for the installation of the simulator toolbars. a.

Using Robotmaster simulator settings On the simulator toolbar, click Robot Simulator Settings.

The main window of the simulator settings appears. This window is used to select the part, Fixture and Stock models that will be displayed in the simulator, as well as set some simulation tolerances.

7

Quick Start Guide Note:

b.

Please ensure that a robot has been selected in the global parameters. The image below shows the selected robot.

Using the Robotmaster simulator On the Robotmaster toolbar, click Robotmaster Simulator.

8

Quick Start Guide Note:

Please ensure that a robot has been selected in the global parameters page otherwise the simulator will output a warning message.

4. Generate robot codes Once robot parameters have been entered, Robotmaster can generate off-line codes for 6 axis robots. Use the following steps to generate robot programs:

9

Quick Start Guide The Post processing window appears.



Fill in the Post processing window settings as desired, and then click OK.

5. Summary The entire workflow can be summarized as follows: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Create/Open your Mastercam file. Create toolpaths. Input parameters in the robot parameter pages. Validate toolpaths in simulator. Generate Program.

Quick Start Guide Installing new robots and tools Robotmaster requires the definition of two elements for proper simulation and calculations. These elements are:

1. Robot definition The robot definition is a series of files that defines the kinematic properties of the robot, as well as the geometries necessary for the simulation of the robot and/or work cell. Robot definition files are grouped by robot manufacturer in the Robot_Setups directories under a sub-folder with the same name as the robot kinematic parameters file (*.ROBX).

2. Tool definition The tool definition is a series of files that defines the tooling that is attached to the end of the robot arm. The tool definition is comprised of a tool information file, XML based, that contains the orientation and position of the tool, as well as accompanying geometry files, in STL format, for simulation. All tool definition files are placed in the Tools folder, and a tool definition is universal and can be used with any make of robot. A selection of basic robot and tool definition files are supplied with the installation kit. For additional robot or tool definition files please contact your Robotmaster reseller and provide the 3D CAD models of the tooling, robot and work cell. To install new robot and tool setups, copy all files provided in the appropriate directories (<shared mcamx#>\Robotmaster_V6):
