Clothes make the man! You can think what you want about fashion; but the old saying that the impression the rest of us have of us is much influenced by our appearance, certainly has its legitimate basis. Especially in times of crisis and the need for money, people are trying to set themselves apart from the rest of the environment with striking, expensive costumes: Sometimes with amazingly bizarre results. Apart from the search for status and recognition, fashion in general offers a significant aesthetic value.

The latest edition of the Valencia Fashion Week (Primavera / Verano 2014) has again revealed some spectacular insights into the quality and talent of Spain's fashion world and the mainly young designers promise a lot of variation for the upcoming season. The organisation of the Fashion Week seems to gain more professionalism year after year with Valencia becoming an interesting location.

What do you call a blonde in an Arts University? Nude model

Especially impressive were the behind-the-scenes events. The models are being prepared for the show in a very calm and quiet way. A bevy of hairdressers and makeup artists work the skin and hair of the young mannequins with dedication. Everything looks professional yet relaxed at the same time.

During preparations for their next show, the uninvolved models spend their time joking with their colleagues on the sofa while photographers and bloggers try to capture the atmosphere, providing the public virtual access to these otherwise hidden operations. Models also read!

Specially created drinks are mixed and the invited guests cavort around, packed tightly around the protagonists. To the untrained “Layman, it is a slightly alienating atmosphere, albeit with quite a humorous touch.

Especially in the field of fashion shows; hardcore fashionistas prove yet again with In the VIP area, designers pose for impressive creativity, how you can mould photographers after their shows. and change your own appearance.

Around the actual shows that are only accessible with a ticket, you can admire the various outfits and accessories, seek direct contact with designers and those interested can make contact with like-minded people.

valencia fashion week

spring summer '14 Tania F.

September saw Valencia Fashion Week arriving to the city offering up a glimpse of upcoming fashions for Spring and Summer 2014. inVLC contributors M.C. and Tania went along with notebook and camera in hand to send us this report on what will be hot for 2014. Valencia’s XV edition returned with a new approach for the Spring/Summer 2014 season. With the hash tag #descaradamentejoven (blatantly young) this season was all about introducing new and young designers and ultimately keeping a younger hipper “fashionista” in mind. This all took place over the course of three days in the Arts and Sciences Agora. While the designers reinforced the dominance of a black and white colour scheme for the coming seasons some did take the risk in presenting bold colour, playing with shapes and patterns.

Esther Noriega’s collection titled “Euménides”, meaning “benevolent” was inspired by old Greece. Her designs were a series of party dresses from white to purple, to red, gold and black, all colours associated with Greece. Leather, flower appliques, transparencies all adorned Esther Noriega’s designs. Maria Cozar Couture took us back to the 50’s with her collection aptly titled “Miss Cadillac”. Her designs were marked with very clean and defined silhouettes placing a great emphasis on a woman’s femininity. With the common theme of transparencies in mind Maria Cozar presented a show heavily focused on the colour white with pops of both yellow and blue, both daring against such a timeless colour. Just as in a garden, JavierYJavier’s collection presented us with a little bit of everything of what to expect for Spring/Summer 2014. Roses, daisies and water lilies over silk, lace, colour and prints were what filled JavierYJavier’s show. Eugenio Loarce’s “Wild Garden” collection with a dominant colour scheme of orange, black and white brought exactly what Spring/Summer is about to Valencia’s fashion week! There were flowers, bird and fruit motifs, sparkles, sequins and leather details all within a mix of feminine cuts.

Siemprevivas presented an ultra-feminine collection. From the billowing and cut out dresses to the smoothness of the silky numbers the name of the collection being "Skin" was every bit appropriate. Their beautiful creations ultimately led to the duo of Siemprevivas taking the prize for best collection at Valencia’s XV Fashion week edition.

It is evident that there was an abundance of talent presented at Valencia’s XV Fashion Week and that with the continuation of such diverse designers Fashion Week in Valencia is an event that cannot be missed! http://www.theclassicteeblog.com/
