Your Way An excerpt from the book From Cancer to Wellness by Kristine S. Matheson

W

e have been gifted with the ability to take charge of our thoughts, and our thought processes.

Each day can be a wonderful experience when we choose to use our mind more effectively. We all have the ability to change what we do and the way we react to all situations that come into our life. We are the masters of our future. We can by using the power of intention program our mind and body to heal. You need to formulate what you want and not be influenced by all that exists around you.

Taking back your power

From the time we are born we give our power to others. As a baby, we do not have a choice. Unfortunately most of us stay controlled by our surroundings, upbringing and relationships. We often allow others to make the decisions for us. Doctors are notorious for putting pressure on their patients to take drugs which work on the effects of diseases instead of treating the causes. An oncologist told me to ‘get my affairs in order’ because I was going to die in less than 12 months. If I had accepted his opinion then that is what would have happened. I would be dead! Instead I took control and cured myself by going back to nature and changing my thoughts and my reactions. I was determined not to listen to those who where negative or encouraging me to be fearful. Placing myself in a bubble of protection I stood strong against all odds.

Attitudes of the medical industry

Many of you will suffer ridicule from some of the representatives of the medical industry, as I did, if you refuse to participate in the Splash, Poison and Burn (SPB) type of treatment. Stand in your own power and use your mind to overcome the negativity and fear these doctors may place upon you. They may mean well, but unfortunately their training does not recognise natural nutrition or exercising the God-given power of the mind. Remember too that doctors do not have the right to tell you that you are going to die. Nor may they employ fear tactics to influence you to accept SPB treatment. Aboriginals

use to point the bone at their enemies. This is a form of black magic intended to project fear, illness and death. A victim who believed the curse suffered restlessness, agitation, sleeplessness, trauma and very often death. If you have been told to get your affairs in order and the only treatment for you is SPB, then you will need to use your mind to overcome these negative pointing the bone suggestions.

Acid stress

Healing does not only depend on nutrition. We must also learn to manage our stress levels by taking back our power. After all, stress and anxiety comes from a belief that something bad is about to happen in our lives. Our bodies become acidic when we are unable to control our stress. Our emotions are linked to our immune system. If we want to strengthen our immune system then we need to eliminate negative elements in our life and though processes.

Being grateful and giving thanks

Be grateful for all the gifts bestowed upon you, even the gift of cancer. This is an awakening and a time to walk a path different from the one you have been on. Your commitment to faith, hope, courage and love, together with your determination will be a guiding light for others to follow. Your family and friends will benefit from you showing them the way.

Smile and the whole world will smile with you.

Keep a smile on your face and in your heart. This is a foundation for healing on its own. Anger, intolerance, and fear lead to disease and an early death.

Balancing Our Health & Happiness by Kerrie Wearing

I

n today’s society we place so much importance on the physical virtues of our appearance that we often trick ourselves into being at one with our bodies through the exterior and how it looks. This may work initially, however a true connection with the body goes far deeper than this and yields itself to a flexibility and courage that only a few have truly come to understand. Louise Hay is certainly one of those few, having healed herself of cancer. She is one of today’s foremost authorities on the link between our bodies and our emotional selvess. In her book, You Can Heal Your Life, Louise says, “I believe we create every so-called illness in our body. The body, like everything else in life, is a mirror of our inner thoughts and beliefs. The body is always talking to us, if we will only take the time to listen. Every cell within your body responds to every single thought you think and every word you speak.” I am a big believer that this is true, and while I am blessed with a healthy mind, body and soul, I do understand that to maintain this, or to recover from a period of being unwell, it takes work on many levels. The body has such a capacity to renew and heal itself that we must begin to live with and accept this understanding in much the same way we accept that our bodies need sleep on a daily basis. Balance is achieved through opening the heart to emotional matters, opening the mind to spiritual matters and opening the body to pleasure and enjoyment. For that, which gives the body pleasure or makes it feel good, the body is rewarded with good health and a light vibration of energy. The key here though, is in listening to those signals the body sends us in response to the pleasure or enjoyment we’ve offered it. While we may enjoy a regular dose of red wine, the proof as to whether our body agrees is often felt the next morning. Finding time to nurture the body is as important as it is in finding time for your children, your partner or whatever else it may be

that you enjoy to do. Try not to see it as work, though in the beginning it may be, until such time as you find a rhythm and begin to enjoy the rewards. Start small with an interest in food and exercise. Perhaps you could replace one family meal a week with one that involves improving the nutrition and make it a regular event. In time you gain new knowledge and enjoy the meal so much, that it won’t be long before you’re doing this for more than one meal a week. Find an exercise or fun group activity that can have you outside enjoying the elements while working the body. Walk your dogs regularly or join the latest Zumba craze. In time, consulting a health professional who can guide and direct you to improving wellness from the inside out and attending to each occurrence of unwellness from a more wholistic approach will see improvements. And most importantly, know, that the more you allow the body to have a voice by listening to the signals, the more it will speak to you.

“Inner Guidance”

Crystal talk with Val Maher AVENTURINE

Aventurine comes in green, blue, brown and peach, it is opaque and when tumbled has specks or lines throughout that can be shiny. Often comes as tumbled, but can be made into wands, spheres or small ornamental pieces It is a stone related to abundance and is thought to raise the yield of crops when scattered around garden beds. It is one of the crystals that absorb electromagnetic smog so it is beneficial near any electronic equipment. It turns negative energies into positive situations and promotes clear communication. It helps in creating a compassionate environment and aids in being emphatic due to its ability to enhance clear perception. This crystal assists in balancing the ying and yang aspects and is used on the heart chakra to prevent loss of energy attributed to other people.

As the gentle breeze caresses my face I’m taken away to that special place I close my eyes and begin to breathe I notice the sounds, the smells, the trees. I talked to the being inside of me I asked her what do you feel? What do you see? She was timid at first, a little afraid But slowly and surely her presence was made. She talked about masks, she spoke about fun She talked about emotions and there were a tonne But the point that really came through was when she spoke about truth and the things I must do. She is wise this little voice in me Full of wisdom, like white owl in the tree. This time I listen with care, attentively No more masks or hidden emotions for me. We are one this little voice and me I accept her, trust her and embrace her with glee. I vow to listen from this day forth I take on her wisdom, her love and her thoughts. Like the dawn of a new day we step out as one, never to stray I thankyou oh wise little voice inside for showing me the light and being my guide.

To work with The Hermit, use the card from a deck you have and keep it on your bedside table, fridge, desk - somewhere where it’s going to be visible to you every day. When you meditate, imagine him sitting with you or even talking to you and giving you advice. If you like, you may keep a small lantern, as a reminder, on your work or study desk.

Being our Soul Food issue, I have chosen to cover The Hermit. By all means this is only a brief review and not at all exhaustive of the potential of this card of the Major Arcana. Traditionally the ninth card in the Major Arcana, The Hermit represents wisdom, education and guidance in the guise of a teacher or even your higher self. It calls for inner reflection and as the name suggests for some solitude. Call on The Hermit if you want to get in touch with your higher-self, want to improve on your meditation technique or need time for some self-reflection. He is also helpful if you are embarking on a course of study and will aid you with keeping to your goal of obtaining a qualification. If you want to

Feeding the Soul by

T

he choice is not whether we feed our soul or not but rather what do we feed our soul and how much. Each day we go about our life; eating, working, sleeping and playing. Yet how many of you feel that this is not enough, that there must be more to it. It is when we are not feeding our soul that we have the feeling that something is lacking. We are mind body and spirit, all existing together and when we don’t feed any one of these aspects is when we feel off centre, and know that something is missing. I believe that to feed the soul we need to look at it on a holistic level; we need to feed the mind, the body and the spirit. It is no good to go about our life pretending to smile on the outside when our soul on the inside is crying out. We may surround ourselves with all the riches in the world and still not be happy or rich. There is a deeper level to all of us and we are not here to just survive day to day; we are here to live and experience all that this human experience can offer us. We are allowed to feel abundance, joy, happiness, and love. We also have the ability to feel sorrow, heartache, envy and grief. It is a shame that some of us choose to keep having the feelings that we are free to move away from and deny ourselves the joy that is around us. When we make the choice - and we make it daily - to feed our soul it is a choice between what helps us grow and what keeps us in place. As I mentioned earlier, we are mind, body and spirit. We need to feed all of these equally to truly grow and become all that we can. So what to look at first? Let’s look at the Body. Is it enough to just eat the right foods, drink the right amount of water, and steer clear of that which is not good for our physical body? Sure, we all need to take the time to eat correctly, too many process foods and sugary drinks will ultimately lead to our physical body’s down fall, obesity, low energy levels, clogged arteries and a shortened life. But is it just about eating right that feeds the body? No. We need exercise, we need to take care of our skin, we need to take care of our hair, our whole physical body needs to be included in that mixture. So let’s get our body moving. Run , dance, swim, do yoga, gardening, walking, do all forms

Rita Maher

of exercise that doesn’t need to cost you the earth. Pamper yourself. Yes, get a massage, a facial, your hair done, your nails done. Make sure your take care of the skin. It’s our largest organ, and let’s face it, you can see when someone is not feeling great and their skin seems to look dull and lifeliess look dull and lifeless, so take care of it. These things don’t have to cost the earth either. No one is saying you need to spend hours at the day spa to achieve this. You can take care of your body at home. Get a haircut that makes you feel great and easy for you to do. Most importantly make it simple. We all complain we don’t have time, so keep it simple and you will be able to find the time. Top tips for feeding the Body: *Eat healthy, foods that are season is what our bodies crave, try growing your own. *Drink water. *Exercise 3 times a week – walk, dance, run *Pamper yourself, buy body polish and moisturise. You don’t need a day spa, soak your feet while you read a book. How do we feed the mind? What is that we allow coming into our mind each and every day? Are you someone who hears the positive or do you hear the negative? Maybe you fall in-between. What about what you read, watch on TV? Does the news stress you out? Does not knowing stress you out? What about work? Is your work making you happy or depressed? What about the way you think about you? Are you happy with who you are or are you the person who can always find faults and never compliment yourself. Our mental state at the best of times can be fragile and ready to break. So why do we chose to remain in negative, self-sabotaging thought patterns? Perhaps we don’t know how to move out of this process. For some, I can hear them scream for here NO! No more affirmations, no more standing in the mirror and tell yourself that you love you…..Ok, ok, I get it. Let’s try this instead: limit the amount of time in front of the TV and watch only things that make you feel good. If the events of the world make you feel bad, turn the news off. There is no good in adding to negative thoughts. Read a good book, one that helps you change your thoughts, inspires you, allows you to see things differently.

Get together with friends and laugh, cry on their shoulder when you need too. Learn to be thankful for all that you have. Instead of trying to “keep up with the Joneses” be thankful for all that is in front of you. There is no use working in a job that does not make you happy if all you are doing is playing catch up or trying to have what everyone else has. What is it that you want? Ok. Sure I am not saying head out and change jobs tomorrow, but if you are unhappy going to work, where you spend most of your time, then it’s time for you to start looking at how you can make some changes. You are here to be happy and joyful, not miserable and sad. So it takes some time find what you are passionate about, to see how this can become what brings you prosperity, however it’s worth the search. Now for those who cringe at affirmations, I do say, find a saying that works for you one that motivates you can keep it around you. Feed the mind with positive and all the thoughts become positive. Top tips for feeding the Mind *Turn off the TV *Immerse your mind in knowledge that expands it *Be with friends *Find your passion and live it *Feed in positive thoughts How do we feed the Spirit? This is when you need to dig deeper, you need to look at what your spirit is calling you to do. Perhaps spending time in nature, be by yourself, meditate, garden, be with family, help those in need, pray, dance, sing. It can be many different things. Each of us has a truly unique spirit that is ours alone and we alone know what makes it happy.

To find out how to feed your spirit, sit and be still, listen to what you are yearning for. It will tug at your heart strings and stir emotion. When you feed your spirit it will give you the feeling you get when you are truly alive and living in the now. Your heart sings your mind is wide awake and your body feels alive. Your spirituality feeds to the spirit and just like feeding your body and your mind, feeding your spirit needs to happen regularly. You would no more survive if you never ate then you would if you neglected to feed the spirit. Sure you would be alive, but lost, drawn towards addictions, violence, depression, destruction and all that leads to life without respect. Top tips for feeding the Spirit *Listen to your inner core, *Be still and in the moment, *Allow yourself to feel emotion, *Honour who you are and cherish it. When we feed body, mind and spirit we feed the soul, we are happy, we have energy, we feel alive and healthy able to take on the challenges we may face with clear sight and positive thought. We are able to learn and explore all that life has to offer us. When we choose to feed our soul with rubbish, by feeding our body junk, not maintaining it, allowing our mind to become consumed with negativity and not acknowledging that our spirit needs to be feed as well we fall from our path being a spiritual being. Why does this happen? Mainly because of fear and ego. As I said earlier “The choice is not whether we feed our soul or not but rather what do we feed our soul and how much?” I leave you with this story to ponder on:

Two Wolves – an old Cherokee legend One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.” Author Unknown

Secrets from Soulmates Arielle & Brian

G

andhi once said that we must “become the change we wish to see in the world.” As you prepare to manifest your soulmate, you can apply this timeless wisdom to your own life by becoming the lover, the friend, the playmate, the partner, and the soulmate you have been looking for.

Think about that for a moment. We spend so much time and energy projecting into the future about how great we’ll feel, how well we’ll care for ourselves, and how proud we’ll be once we finally meet our soulmate. This kind of thinking may leave us feeling excited about the future, but it does nothing for us in the present. While it’s sometimes true that meeting someone - a lover, a friend, or even a boss or colleague-is the catalyst that inspires us to grow in a positive direction, more often than not, it works in the reverse. First we decide to grow, to love ourselves, to make the best of who we are and where we are in our lives, and then our committment draws opportunities for love and connection out of the woodwork and into our lives. As you reflect on the qualities you are looking for in a soulmate, you must ask yourself whether you are demonstrating those qualities in your own life, and if not, what you would need to do to cultivate them. Just as a seed grows with the warmth of the sun, so our positive qualities grow when we put our attention on them. Let me give you an example: if your wish is to be with one who is affectionate, devoted, and kind, you need to make the committment to bring forth those qualities in yourself. Look for every opportunity to demonstrate devotion, kindness, and affection to the world around you-whether it’s with the store clerk, the mail carrier, the telemarketer (I know, that’s a tough one)...or, most importantly, with yourself! If you are seeking a man or woman who is passionate, generous, and outgoing, you should be spending every minute of every day looking for ways to feed, nurture, and develop those facets of yourself. Not in the futre, but in your life as it exists at this moment. A great way to think of this assignment is to imagine that you are the man or woman of your dreams and then to ask yourself,

If I were my beloved, would I fall in love with me? If the answer is no, then dedicate yourself to becoming someone you would fall in love with. Remember the old saying “Laugh and the world laughs with you”? It’s also true that when you fall in love with yourself, the whole world mirrors that love back to you. The following exercise will help you clarify the steps you need to take in order to become the love you’ve been seeking. What you will need: • several sheets of paper and a pen • a comfortable chair • fifteen to thirty minutes of uninterrupted time Imagine you are writing an online ad and need to list your top ten assets, then take a moment to list your most lovable traits. If you get stuck, just think about the things other people compliment you for. Are you generous, compassionate, friendly, kind, considerate, thoughtful, interesting, or funny? Write them down. As you read over this list, make sure it reflects the very best of you. If it doesn’t, rework it until it does. No one else will ever need to see this list-it’s just for you, so please don’t hold back. Once you have a list of your ten most luscious, desirable, and admirable qualities, it’s time to create a daily affirmation that incorporates these truths about yourself. It might look like this: I am a passionate, compassionate, loving, friendly, helpful, adventurous, nurturing, sensual, spiritually connected woman, and I love all of me, all of the time. Twice a day for the next thirty days, I want you to stand in front of a mirror with a big smile on your face, and speak your affirmation out loud. Be sure to look into your own eyes while speaking the truth about yourself. And just so you know, this might feel very, very awkward at first. Do it anyway. This is a time to find the inner motivation to bring out the very

best in yourself-not for the sake of your soulmate but for the sake of your own happiness and fulfillment. When you can do that, you will have discovered one of the most powerful keys to drawing to yourself virtually everything you desire. And if the idea of falling in love with yourself sounds selfish or selfabsorbed, let me assure you; if you don’t have an honest and gut-level appreciation of the adorable, juicy, one-of-a-kind characteristics that only you possess; if you haven’t yet found compassionate acceptance for your flaws and discovered the ways they have made you uniquely who you are; if you don’t approach your body with tenderness and sensuality; how can you expect your soulmate to do these things? The simple truth is that when you love yourself, you become absolutely irresistable.

A Daily Prayer For Manifesting Your Soulmate God/Goddess and All That Is. In this moment I am grateful for the healing of my heart of everything that would stop me from attracting my soulmate. In this moment I remember that my perfect, right partner is magnetizing to me, and my only job is to rest in perfect awareness that my soulmate’s heart is already joined with mine as i “savour the waiting” And so it is.

However I feel some conflict within you when making this decision. Archangel Zadkiel asks you to listen for the repetitive messages that the angels are trying to impart on you within your mind and they are also sending earthly messengers to guide you, so be mindful of this. He says you will know you are on the right path when you move out of you head and into your heart. Good luck!

Social Media Dos Don’ts

I

n this edition of inSpirit, we are going to begin to look at what I consider to be the 10 big Dos and Don’ts of Social Media. This issue will look at the first 5 and the next edition will look at the next 5 – which could well change in that time! The more I work in this area, the more I see well meaning businesses (large and small) that are not really doing themselves any favours in the social spaces. There are some unspoken rules that we work to adhere to and instil in our clients and I will share them here. (That’s not to say that the odd rule can’t be broken, but use these as a rule of thumb.) • DO view social media as a part of an overall strategy Most businesses don’t market enough to really build their brand and presence, online or off. Social Media is a great way which is quite economical to run, but it must be part of a good marketing strategy overall. • DON’T view social media as a ‘standalone’ strategy Your social media strategy must fit in with the other marketing you do – your brand must be well represented across your website, in your email marketing material, how you portray yourself and your business generally • DO consider your resources before setting up – time, human and money The currency for social media tends to be time, rather than money. We have a number of clients for whom we run and administer their social media, because they realised they did not have the human resource or skill to manage it. How much time do you have and how much (money and time) can you invest in getting social media “right” for your business?

and By Meredith Collins

our business to market in a more social way. Sometimes that’s a bit tough, but it is worth doing. Social Media is about “attraction marketing” – how can I entice people to connect with my pages and brand. Social Media is about the buying process, not the selling process. Why would a buyer want to be part of what I do? Some clients really struggle with this and some businesses naturally lend themselves beautifully to being “social”. Others have to find that angle and we have worked with many who have successfully created that social angle and use it well. Stay tuned for the next 5 Dos and Don’ts. In conclusion I will say this – DON”T jump on the social media bandwagon until you truly understand the requirements and you have thought about your strategy. We love working with passionate and enthusiastic clients and if you want to investigate opportunities for your business, as a valued inSpirit Reader, we will happily provide you with a 30 minute free consultation. www.facebook.com/videosocialmarketing http://au.linkedin.com/in/meredithcollins www.twitter.com/videosocialcode Meredith Collins is the Principal of Video.Social. DON’T start a social media strategy you can’t maintain We have all seen websites that are clearly out of date. Social Media must have currency for you to be viewed seriously. I recently had a client that had stopped blogging “because nobody looks anyway”. Well, when we checked her blog hits, she actually had around 50 hits on the day she last blogged (six months ago). It does not look good for your business if your posts are out of date. So, decide what you can manage. We recommend two Facebook posts a week and a blog post a fortnight, as a minimum and most business can manage this (with a plan in place!)

• DO think about the value you offer your market Businesses are inherently “unsocial”. Let’s face it, we are in business to make a profit and increase our bottom line. So, it’s important to think about how we can take

Tips t De-stress

Get up and move. Walk, dance, or exercise; allow your heart rate to increase and get oxygen pumping around the body. See the beauty in something small, a child's smile, a song, a flower, etc. Be around great friends, laugh with them, cry with them, lean on them. Get an attitude of gratitude. Be thankful for all that you have, be thankful for your life. Help someone else, take your mind off you and help another. Meditate, learn the art of meditation and deep breathing, you cannot panic while deep breathing! Eat healthy; eating the foods that nourish your body doesn't make you feel guilty afterwards. Learn to say no; set boundaries, sometimes the best thing we do in life is saying no. Take time for yourself, be positive in your thoughts, soak in a bath, or get a massage. Clean the house, get organises. Clutter creates stale energy, clear it out. Smell the rose get out in the fresh air. It helps to clear the mind.
