What motivates you to continue taking pictures? I think I’m ten to 20 years away from taking my best photos. I’m curious to see where I’ll find myself then and what I’ll be doing. Who were the people with whom you work who interest you most? The wizards of hair and makeup, I can’t imagine being able to harness that kind of talent in that way. Also, the art directors with a crystal clear vision of how they see the shoot. There’s a fluidity to how I
approach a story because you can never be 100% sure of who’s going to walk through the door, what kind of mood they’ll be in, whether they understand the concept or not, and a million more possibilities. Everything affects the shoot, but some people see it a certain way from start to finish and execute it that way. It’s very impressive. How do you live your best life? By finding the worthwhile bit in everything I do or encounter. It’s there if you keep your eyes open for it. l NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2017
