She remembered what they talked about- how everything was going (both of them were better- happier and healthier) and how they felt (both with a lot of pink and white). They talked about Melanie’s family and Dr. Codey and school. Regular, normal stuff. But they talked about Melanie and Melanie only. Nothing about Roya. Melanie didn’t know anything about Roya but Roya herself. She didn’t know about her family or her other friends or what school she went The moment Melanie knew everyone was asleep to or her home. trees, the grass, the leaves. She wanted to shout for Roya, to tell her that she got it now, that she understood, but Roya was gone and she was never going back and Melanie thought her lungs were going to burst. “I’m sorry!” she screamed. “I get it now! I promise!” But everything had become bluer and blacker and Melanie could feel the cold in her bones. It seeped in through her eyes, and she closed them as tightly as she could but it still leaked through. She was shivering, she was shaking, and she was so, so dirty. Melanie slowly became aware that she had pleaded for Roya to come back, come back to her, but Roya was never coming back because she wasn’t real, and Melanie felt like

a crazy idiot left with only her crazy mind. She felt like she was never going to be loved. “Please!” she shrieked, harsh and guttural, like the words were being torn away from her throat. “Oh, please!” The words echoed around the forest, bouncing from tree to tree, and Melanie could feel the words sink through her, coating her bones and making them vibrate. “Please, please please. Where are you?!” She screamed. “I need you! I need you, please!” “I’m real!” Melanie screamed. She pointed towards the sky accusingly. “I’m real! She closed her eyes and let the memories play in her head. Talking, laughing, singing, humming. Memories that were never real. It was never, ever real. With a strangled cry of agony, Melanie pushed herself up off the ground. She clambered up the wooden ladder into the treehouse. It was dark and quiet. The air was heavy, and Melanie didn’t speak. She sat in her lonely dark corner and watched tears drip onto the T-R-A-P-P-E-D that was carved into the wooden floor. Melanie soon noticed Roya’s lighter lying by Melanie’s foot, and she slowly picked it up and flicked it on. The flame glowed in the darkness, and Melanie watched herself press the flame to the wooden wall, like the...........

Horoscope

Sagittarius Nov. 23 - Dec. 21

Sagittarians are born adventurers. They like smashing spiders with their bare hands and trying to walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night with the lights out. They would sooner sustain crippling injury than do anything the easy way. Sagittarians love to entertain their friends, family, and total strangers. This often includes transvestitism. Nearly every Sagittarian was born into the wrong gender. Sagittarians are loud and have no social graces. They seek to offend. Sagittarians usually have nicknames like Thunderpooper or Vomitus Maximus. Animals and small children love Sagittarians. This is unfortunate since adults usually hate them. However, Sagittarians make excellent circus freaks and vagrants. Sagittarians use interpretive dance to describe philosophical concepts. Buttons

and bumper stickers with rude sayings on them are a trademark of the Sagittarian. They throw food at expensive restaurants and ask lots of questions in the middle of church. Don’t ever bring a Sagittarius home to meet your parents. He or she will tie up your mother and pants your dad. Famous Sagittarians include the Geo Metro. The holiday during which the sun is in Sagittarius is Thanksgiving. This is highly appropriate since everyone eats until they’re sick and passes out while a bunch of crossdressers and huge inflatable things wander through the streets of New York, the most Sagittarian town in the universe. A Sagittarius is always a better Madonna than Madonna. Men can pull off sequins, and women can pull off construction helmets. The Sagittarius is incapable of being unhip.
