About us Hyatt Magazine is a free social and cultural magazine which features events and entertainment, lifestyle, business data, leisure, and lore. “Hyatt” in the Arabic language means “life” and our magazine doesn’t shy away from the average life we live and the types of subjects that must be addressed on a day-to-day basis. The magazine’s events and news target the heavy populated Arab community in Chicago and suburbs. Hyatt Magazine is published monthly to promote communication on various topics in an informative and positive manner, and it’s distributed throughout the area by direct mailing and other channels (Retail Locations, Medical Offices, Salons, Restaurants, and more). You’ll find our magazine enlightening and interesting as the articles are written by people like you - who care about the community and contribute immensely to its growth for generations to come. On April 13, 2017, Peace Benefit Tour 2 with Mais Shalash held a meet and greet at a local restaurant in the southside of Chicago. “Mais Shalash started the art of singing is the age of seven, was fond of singing songs and praises and recitation, recite the Koran. CPFF’s Event What is CPFF all about? The Chicago Palestine Film Festival is the world’s longest running Palestinian film festival in the world. We are a not-for-profit, 501c3 that is dedicated to telling the stories of the the Palestinian people. Over the years we have grown from a film festival to a social justice organization that champions different topic through Palestinian film. One of our chief goals it to help Palestinians overcome the stigma of the oppression and give them back their own narratives. This allows them to define themselves in a greater context and fights the mental oppression placed upon them by the occupation. Is all the film scene taken place in Palestine? The films we show are shot all over the world. Palestinians are currently the second largest refugee population in the world and they are not a monolithic people. No two Muslims have the same story. While we love to see stories coming out of the West Bank and Occupied territories in order to show a complete picture we have make sure that all diverse Palestinian voices are represented.

What was the most popular film shown in CPFF? This is CPFF’s sixteenth year and we have shown hundreds of films. Our most viewed films are usually directed by Oscar Nominated film maker Hany AbuAssad. He directed Omar, The Idol, and Paradise Now and they have received both critical and popular acclaim. This year we also showed Bar Bahar (In Between) about three young woman managing life as Palestinian women living alone in Tel Aviv. That film sold out and as received a lot of press. ICN’s Event On April 23, 2017 an open mosque was held at the Islamic Center of Naperville (ICN). ICN humbly invited their respected friends, neighbors, and community members to attend their open mosque. Those who had attended had the opportunity to learn more about the Islamic faith from the perspective of mainstream, practicing Muslims as well getting acquainted with the services and activities provided by their mosque.
PCRF’s Event On April 23, 2017, PCRF-Chicago held there 9th Annual Fundraising dinner. This year’s gala is dedicated to raising much needed funds to support medical missions and ongoing PCRF relief projects which aid children throughout the Middle East.

Madinah Community’s Event
On April 16, 2017, Muslim Big Talk workshop was building within a series of discussion to address the community issue with Sr. Ameena and Br. Abduallah Mitchel. UIC Arab American Cultural Center’s Event First Arab American Cultural Center on a college campus and Arab American Graduation
was monumental especially for a community that is going through difficult times. The center was tural center in the United States serving Arab Americans on a college campus in the United States. The Arab American Cultural Center honored the Arab American graduates of UIC. This graduation was the first of its kind in the country. These Arab students families come from all over the Arab world. It was a joyous moment for these students to celebrate with their families as well with the Arab community. Over 40 Arab graduates graduated with Phds, Masters, and Bachelors Degrees.This graduation

established in 2016 to promote the social and academic well-being of Arab American students, staff, and faculty and to provide the campus with artistic, cultural, and educational programming. The center helps UIC gain more understanding about the Arab American community and enhance campus dialogue between diverse groups on the UIC campus. This center is one of the first examples whereby an Arab American institution has been established as part of a campus diversity initiatives.
