Person of the Month: MIKO PELED Peled’s lectures on YouTube have been viewed and shared by millions of followers worldwide. The book covers the work in which Peled’s family has been involved since his grandparents immigrated to Palestine in the early 20th century, describing their work and their life in detail. Peled’s maternal grandfather was a signer on the Israeli Declaration of Independence; his father was a General in the Israeli army; in the 1970’s his father pioneered the Israeli Palestinian dialogue and eventually met with Yasser Arafat.

Miko Peled is a writer and activist born in Jerusalem and living in the US. Driven by a personal family tragedy to explore Palestine, its people and their narrative he has written a book about his journey called “The General’s Son, Journey of an Israeli in Palestine.” The books just came out in second edition. It includes an extended epilogue that recounts Peled’s work since the book first came out in 2012. As Peled puts it, “the journey continues.” In the forward to the book, Pulitzer Prize winner Alice Walker writes: “There are few books on the Palestine/Israel issue that seem as hopeful to me as this one… Jim Miles of Foreign policy journal writes in his review: “There are many powerful books written on the topic of Palestine/Israel but few if any are as masterfully written as Miko Peled’s “The General’s Son.”” Pulitzer Prize Winner, journalist Seymour Hersh called it: “A brilliantly rendered saga.” Pulitzer Prize author Naomi Wolf called it: “A brave, honorable and engaging work.” And added, “this critically important work is a must read.” Ralph Nader called it an: “an energetic and informed voice for peace.” Dr. Azzam Tamimi, “A unique view that Palestinians need to see.”

COOLSCULPTING & COOLADVANTAGE By Dr Suwan Q&A

What is the difference between liposuction and CoolSculpting?

While both treatments have the same goal of fat pockets reduction, the fundamental difference between CoolSculpting and liposuction lies in the treatment approach and the degree of invasiveness involved. CoolSculpting is a completely non-surgical, non-invasive procedure, which makes it more suited for patients who wish to avoid invasive cosmetic treatments but without having to compromise on the effectiveness of the procedure. CoolSculpting makes use of a unique cooling process to freeze away up to 25% of unwanted fat cells in the body’s fat pockets in one treatment, for good. The fat cells gradually die and become eliminated from the body in a natural way. The treatment avoids any collateral damage to the surrounding healthy tissue, involves no downtime, and does not carry the risks that are typical to any surgical procedure. It does not involve any incision, injection, or any other surgical intrusion. Results could be seen within a few weeks, and improvement will continue to happen for up to three to six months. Liposuction adopts invasive approach to fat reduction, incisions, fat cells sucked through cannulas, anesthesia, and downtime. Liposuction has the usual risks that are associated with any minor surgery.

Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure and it may be split if a larger amount of fat needs to be removed from various parts of the body

What is CoolAdvantage?

With the new CoolAdvantage technology, CoolSculpting delivers an even better patient experience with the new CoolAdvantage applicator that offers shorter treatment time, nearly 50% faster, with 45% improvement in patient comfort during the treatment. The new CoolAdvantage provides also larger cooling area with more tissue treated. For a free consultation please call 630-420-8080 or visit us at forever25.com. Potluck Iftar at Millennium Park! “We have made you into nations and tribes, so you may come to know one another.” Quran; 49:13. Generosity and coming together in love and harmony is what this event signifies and are principles of Islam. These along with other good deeds are intensified during the holy month of Ramadan. People of all cultural backgrounds and age groups join together sharing our blessings in unity to make each potluck a success. Although the majority of attendees are Muslims, we also have people of other faiths join us. Having it at Millennium Park also allows us to interact with Chicagoans (and tourists visiting) welcoming them to break bread with us which in our current turmoil socio-political times is the best way to break through stereotypes and really get to know someone on a human level. This is our second annual potluck iftar at Millennium Park, it is held every Sunday during Ramadan by the Bean (Cloud Gate), one of Chicago’s famous landmarks.

Yogurt… For Sunburn? Keeping your skin protected in the sun is a must in the summer but, as you know, it’s very easy to catch rays of sunlight! If you need a quick fix after feeling the heat, grab some yogurt. You can apply the yogurt to your face just like a mask and leave it to sit for 10-15 minutes. If you don’t have yogurt, try a milk compress. You can soak a towel in cold milk and apply directly where you have the sunburn. Plus, the cooling sensation is a HUGE help!
