Normalization is excellent! Turkey had an unfortunate experience with Russia in recent months but the relations were improved and the two friendly countries have been friends again. This has helped to all industries especially to the textile business in general and home textiles in particular. That’s why we are en route to Moscow to attend Heimtextil Russia and distribute free copies as well as to cover this important event for our October issue.

Fall 2016 Cityscape Collection
by Brentano New collection draws inspiration from the energy and graphics of the urban landscape

Metropolis- Nightlife 4569-06, CityscapeMarina Towers 4565-04, Boulevard-Gran Via 456803 - - Cityscape captures the urban landscape within a two dimensional textile form. Its 15 plus inch vertical repeat and 7 bold colorways reflect the complexities found in any major metropolitan city.

W

heeling, IL. — The fall 2016 Cityscape collection captures the urban landscape within a two dimensional textile form. Design Director Iris Wang and the Brentano design studio were inspired by all senses represented within the metropolitan environment – such as the towering skyscrapers, perpetual movement and energetic sounds that pulse throughout any city. The 18 new patterns symbolize society’s kinetic energy while offering a unified balance of residential, hospitality and contract textiles. Representing the eccentric life of the big city, the new collection includes graphic large-scale patterns (Cityscape and Boulevard) with small-scale coordinates (Metropolis and Boomtown) that push the limit of expected design. Built for high performance contract applications all four patterns offer outstanding wearability, exceeding over 75,000 double rubs (Wyzenbeek, Cotton Duck) and include Incase finishing and acrylic backing for a wide range of applications. Boomtown-Showgirl 4564-02, Metropolis-Improv 4569-03 -- Inspired by the rapid growth and expansion of Chicago in the early 19th century, Boomtown’s explosion of buildings turns history into a contemporary and playful motif.

Made in Germany from fiber to end product: New mattresses for the contract sector

Ocean Royal - IMO certified mattresses by Werkmeister with Trevira CS covers by Mattes & Ammann - Š Photos: Trevira GmbH/ Werkmeister

Trevira, Mattes & Ammann have developed a variety of qualities for mattress covers and they recently extended their product range for the segment to include a collection in Trevira CS to cater for the contract market.

F

or many years Mattes & Ammann from Tieringen, specialists in circular and warp knitting, have used Trevira yarns for their high quality circular knitted and warp-knitted products. Here particular note falls on applications in the automotive sector and on Trevira CS qualities for seat covers on trains. Now, however, the topic of “living is a segment growing in importance for the Swabian textile company, and especially in the mattress sector. Working with fiber manufacturer Trevira, Mattes & Ammann have developed a variety of qualities for mattress covers and they recently extended their product range for the segment to include a collection in Trevira CS to cater for the contract market. Within the contract market, safety takes on great significance from the very beginning of project planning. Spectacular large-scale fires, such as the hotel conflagra-

tion on New Year’s Eve 2015 in Dubai, continually bring this subject back into the public eye. Due to fire safety regulations, flame retardant drapes, decorative and upholstery fabrics are established standard in hotels, hospitals and in care homes today. The use of flame retardant mattress covers makes an additional contribution towards preventive fire protection.

New developments for all contract sectors Navicella - IMO certified mattresses by Werkmeister with Trevira CS covers by Mattes & Ammann © Photo: Trevira GmbH/Werkmeister

The new range currently includes three qualities in various grammages and in fabric weights of 230 – 365 g/m², with the result that the cover can be adapted to the different structure and the desired weight of the mattress. A variety of looks offers further possible choices, highlighting the wide range of fabric constructions. Every newly developed article bears the trademark approval for Trevira CS. Working with Werkmeister based in HenstedtUlzburg, the manufacturer of top-end mattresses, Mattes & Ammann have also set in place the complete IMO certification for the maritime sector (both Module B and Module D), so that these mattresses are suitable for maritime applications. This includes use on cruise liners and yachts. Mattress manufacturer Breckle in Weida too has mattresses for the maritime sector, correctional facilities and contract applications in its portfolio and will in future be using Trevira CS fabrics from the Mattes & Ammann collection for its covers. Alongside products for shipping, mattresses with permanently flame retardant covers are also of interest for aircraft for instance (catering for First Class equipment on long-distance flights). The same applies to barracks, psychiatric clinics or penal institutes – indeed anywhere there is a need for mattresses and where particular safety regulations apply.

The virtues of the new development are two: the high quality of “Made in Germany” embedded in the article from fibre to end product and the permanent flame retardancy of the covers, a benefit that is not lost even after washing. Trevira CS materials are easy care and kind to the skin, and Trevira fibres and yarns meet the human-ecological demands of Oeko- Tex 100 standard.

he fiber manufacturer Trevira is making an appearance at the new fair location in Brussels, based on its tried and tested concept and working together with a total of eleven partners. As in recent years, Trevira CS yarn partners Vlnap from the Czech Republic and Lei Tsu (Italy) are presenting their latest products at MoOD Yarns, while Trevira itself will be on show on the Trevira CS Contract Square, along with nine fabric manufacturers. Trevira has further extended its range of spun-dyed yarns with new developments, including melange hybrid yarns for stiffened textiles. In the collections a noticeable trend is evident towards more colour and this is reflected in the supply of new fibre and filament yarns. Trevira and its yarn partners are also offering an extensive selection of melange yarns, reflecting the natural shades which continue to be topical. Chair by Brunstad: „Delta“.

Chair by Brunstad: „Sting“.

At the end of the first half of 2016 the fiber manufacturer on balance expresses its satisfaction with business. With their strong Trevira CS customer base in Western Europe, home textiles are doing well, and there is increasing activity in Asia, which also has the support of the network of Indorama Ventures, the majority owner of Trevira. Increasing numbers of enquiries are coming from India, Pakistan and China. These orders, however, are subject to the special brand policy for Asia, whereby the fabrics produced there are destined for the regional market. Besides the continuing good business in hybrid yarns, filaments show a rise in standard polyester activity in the home textiles sector – there has been an increase in volume, mainly in filament yarns for velvets. Flame retardant Trevira fibers and fiber yarns are gaining more and more ground in technical applications, accompanied by a steadily rising demand for spun-dyed qualities – which is translating into positive results in sales figures. Here the base lies in customized development projects aimed at joint exploitation of market potential in Europe, North America and Asia.

oOD and Indigo fairs were successfully held and traditional Blue Drop Awards were given.

The Blue Drop Awards have been awarded on the second day of MoOD. Blue Drop Best EPIC Into C:D:C INTO is young and bold and so is its creation. Metal like, shiny, looking robust and beautiful at the same time.

Blue Drop Best Flukiness Van Maele Weavers NV This extreme fine eclectic weave uses copper and flax. The dominant color is cobalt blue. The shiny effect and the rigid character make it very special. Anyone you hates window covering, will love this one.

Blue Drop Best Nearness Vigano’ S.p.A. Fabric with a very high martindale of 100 000 rubs. The fine structure is created only in the warp. The trendy and beautiful color makes it a piece of art.
