ome tanti altri ambiti del tessile-abbigliamento, anche il business feristico è in rapida evoluzione. Da un lato, nei mercati maturi, la crescente verticalizzazione dei canali di vendita, catalizzata dalla marcia trionfale delle varie formule di fast fashion, continua a mettere sotto pressione il canale multimarca e, più in generale, tutti i player legati all’intermediazione commerciale. Dall’altro, nei mercati emergenti, in cui il canale wholesale è in larga parte assente, l’incessante conquista di nuove frontiere porta a una crescente frammentazione dei format espositivi. Che fare, dunque, per riacquistare centralità? Esistono esempi virtuosi. A cominciare dagli enti feristici di alcune città d’arte italiane, come Firenze e Vicenza, che facendo sistema con il tessuto urbano hanno saputo far diventare i rispettivi saloni delle vere e proprie kermesse di creatività. Progettando percorsi espositivi ad hoc, in cui le varie eccellenze settoriali si amalgamano con i luoghi atmosfericamente più suggestivi. Ideando poli di aggregazione culturale, che rivisitando le vette del passato mixano sapientemente storia e tradizione. Orchestrando eventi collaterali che contribuiscono ad aprire il perimetro feristico non solo alla città stessa, ma a un pubblico internazionale mirato, che stenta a trovare altrove una simile raffca di iniziative fresche e originali. Sono questi, oggigiorno, i fattori di successo di chi vuole differenziarsi. Riuscendo a essere stimolanti a 360 gradi, le migliori fere si confermano come fucine imprescindibili di innovazione e di opportunità.

ike many other segments of the textile and apparel industry, also the trade fair business is subject to rapid change. On the one hand, in mature markets the growing verticalisation of sales formats, as epitomized by the vast success of fast fashion concepts, continues to apply signifcant strain to the traditional multibrand store and, more in general, to all players involved in the intermediation of commerce. On the other hand, in emerging markets, where the wholesale channel is mostly absent, the seemingly unstoppable quest for new frontiers causes an increasing fragmentation of the trade fair landscape. What issues need thus to be addressed in order to remain on center stage? Virtuous examples exist. The organizers of trade fairs in several Italian art towns, like Florence and Vicenza, have been able to team up with municipalities and hence transform their local happenings into true festivals of creativity. This has been accomplished by steering visitors through pathways that combine noteworthy exhibitors with particularly picturesque settings. Also, cultural hotspots have been created that mix historical fashbacks with current state-of-the-art innovations. Last but not least, events have been integrated into the fair that attract not only the inhabitants of the city at large, but also an international yet specialized audience that has diffculties fnding similarly fresh and original initiatives elsewhere. These are the main success factors who are becoming increasingly necessary in order to differentiate oneself. On a global scale, trade fairs who heed this creed and truly stimulate buyers remain, more than ever, indispensable drivers of innovation and opportunity. Fairs 2015

Vietato fermarsi: nel 2015 più sinergie e internazionalizzazione Mentre la moda maschile ristudia i calendari internazionali e lancia nuove rassegne, anche il tessile si rimette in gioco. Per tutti vale una regola: spingersi sempre un po’ più in là nello schacchiere globale di/by Elena Azzola
saloni rappresentano da sempre una cartina al tornasole dell’andamento del business e delle opportunità che si aprono alle aziende nelle varie aree del mondo. Là dove ci sono chance per le imprese, le società feristiche progettano nuovi eventi. In Europa nel 2015 molto bolle in pentola a Milano, dove la Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Pitti Immagine e il Comune studiano inziative da affancare all’Expo. Con il nuovo anno, inoltre, prende il via la riorganizzazione dei calendari internazionali della moda maschile, «una svolta che agevolerà tutti i buyer», commenta Mario Boselli, presidente Cnmi. Da segnalare anche il debutto delle sflate uomo a New York. Intanto i poli espositivi lottano - a colpi di restyling, ottimizzazioni delle date, razionalizzazioni dell’offerta e nuovi servizi - per accaparrarsi fno all’ultimo utente, sia in termini di espositori che di visitatori. Un esempio è quello dell’ensemble di Première Vision, la grande fera parigina dei materiali, degli accessori e dei servizi «a monte della fliera della moda» che, dall’edizione di febbraio 2015, diventa Première Vision Paris, con conseguente cambio di denominazione dei sei saloni che ne fanno parte, all’insegna di una ancor più stretta coesione. Sempre a proposito di tessile, nell’autunno del 2014 hanno esordito in Turchia due progetti, emanazione di altrettante rassegne con base a Parigi: Première Vision Istanbul e Texworld Istanbul. Scelte che testimoniano la dinamicità dell’industria della moda nel Paese sul Bosforo. Degna di nota pure l’acquisizione da parte di Messe Frankfurt di tre fere del settore in Argentina:

Tra questi, il “salone nel salone” Chic Young Blood, focalizzato sulla fashion culture della generazione Y in Cina.

On another news front, men’s catwalk shows make their debut in New York. Meanwhile, exhibition centres are battling, using all the weapons at their disposal - including restyling, careful timing, rationalization of the offering, and new services - to secure every single user, whether exhibitor or visitor. One example is the ensemble of Première Vision, the grand Paris fair of materials, accessories and services «upstream of the fashion supply chain», which from the February 2015 edition will take on the name of Première Vision Paris, with its six shows it also changing their names for an even more seamless integration. Still in the world of textiles, two projects stemming from Paris-based events, Première Vision Istanbul and Texworld Istanbul, opened in Turkey in autumn 2014, demonstrating the dynamism of the fashion industry in this Country. Also noteworthy is the acquisition by Messe Frankfurt of three trade fairs in FAIrS 2015
Argentina: Emitex, Simatex and Confemaq, specialized in fabrics, assembly and machinery for the textile and clothing industry. The Far East is the region with the highest amount of work in progress. In September 2015, Seoul will feature the Berlin sportswear trade show Bread&Butter, which will bring Western brands in a Country where fashion is more “in fashion” than ever before. Throughout that continent, other events resulting from the initiative of European trade fair organizations are consolidating their presence with the aim to create a link between international fashion and the Asian market: these include Pure Shanghai and The Hub in Hong Kong. The same purposes are at the core of a show “made in China” like Chic, which in 2015 will move from Beijing to Shanghai. Chic, held at the futuristic NECC exhibition centre, takes advantage of the synergies provided by its concomitance with the Intertextile trade fair and is organized in sections dedicated to lifestyle worlds. Among these, the Chic Young Blood “show within the show” focuses on the fashion culture of the Chinese Y generation.

A crisis-proof leadership While geopolitical challenges continue to weigh on our country, CpmCollection Première Moscow holds its own, confrming its leadership among fashion shows in Eastern Europe with 18,500 visitors at the event of last September. Not coincidentally, and against all forecasts, the number of collections on display at the 24th edition of the Trade Fair organised by Igedo (based in Düsseldorf, Germany) at the Moscow Expocentre from 24 to 27 February 2015 will be at least 1,400, representing over 30 Countries over an exhibition area of more than 50,000 square metres. Una “fashion town” a Shanghai, capitale della moda Tante le novità di Chic nel 2015. Il grande salone asiatico della moda per la prima volta, dal 18 al 20 marzo 2015, si svolge a Shanghai e non a Pechino. La sede è l’avveniristico Necc (National Exhibition and Convention Center), situato vicino al city airport Hongqiao e perfettamente collegato alla metropolitana. All’interno del centro, Chic dà vita a una propria “fashion town”, occupando i padiglioni 5.1, 5.2, 6.1 e 6.2 e sfruttando le sinergie con Intertextile, la fera tessile che si tiene nelle stesse date in un’altra ala della struttura. Il trasferimento a Shanghai - capitale della moda in Asia - coincide con una nuova organizzazione della rassegna, basata su mondi lifestyle. Le sezioni previste sono: In Signature (marchi cinesi famosi), Prestige (menswear e bespoke), Urban View (sport e casual), New Look (womenswear), Secret Stars (accessori), Impulses (designer innovativi), Heritage (pellicceria, capi in pelle e piumini), Kid’s Paradise (moda bimbo), Fashion Journey (partecipazioni intrenazionali) e Future Links (tecnologie per il business della moda). In concomitanza si svolge anche Chic Young Blood, vetrina sulla fashion culture della generazione Y in Cina, con proposte di street, urban e denimwear, allestite in un ambiente ad hoc. I brand in mostra sono in totale circa 1.200, per un appuntamento che alla scorsa edizione ha totalizzato 97.500 visitatori professionali da 20 Paesi e che si propone come “mediatore” per il business internazionale della moda, offrendo servizi di match-making, seminari e workshop, fnalizzati a comprendere e affrontare con successo il mercato cinese. The show will be subdivided into a number of sections: In Signature (famous Chinese brands), Prestige (men’s wear and bespoke), Urban View (sports and casual), New Look (women’s wear), Secret Stars (accessories), Impulses (innovative designers), Heritage (furs, leatherwear and down garments), Kid’s Paradise (children’s wear), Fashion Journey (international participations) and Future Links (technologies for the fashion business). The concomitant event Chic Young Blood will showcase the fashion culture of the Chinese Y generation, including street, urban and denim wear on display in a dedicated space. Some 1,200 exhibiting brands are ready to welcome a number of professional visitors expected to equal or exceed those of last year (97,500) from 20 Countries. The show aspires to act as a “mediator” for the international fashion business, offering match-making services, seminars and workshops aimed at helping participants to understand and operate successfully in the Chinese market. Chic has also signed a partnership with EuroShop (a leader in retail solutions and trends based in Düsseldorf, Germany) for the launch of C-star, a similar trade fair: scheduled to be held for the frst time from 13 to 15 May in Shanghai, the event will be presented to the industry during Chic.

Un’esortazione a fare tesoro del passato e della tradizione, come sottolinea Angelo Uslenghi (coordinatore della commissione stile), ma innovando con creatività e ispirazione, per allinearsi a un mondo in veloce evoluzione. Due i temi della stagione: “Designed Simplicity” e “Artistic Boldness”, fl rouge di un appuntamento che - fedele alla sua mission - farà spazio anche alle nuove generazioni con “Magazzini aperti”, progetto di Regione Lombardia, Milano Unica e Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda. «Most of all I remember the future». Milano Unica borrows this quote from the artist Salvador Dalì to describe the creative spirit of the upcoming fabrics trade show, scheduled in Milan from 4 to 6 February 2015 and dedicated to the Spring-Summer 2016 season. An exhortation to treasure the past and traditions, as pointed out by Angelo Uslenghi (coordinator of the Style committee), while innovating with creativity and inspiration, so as to keep up with a world that is rapidly changing. The two themes selected for the season: “Designed Simplicity” and “Artistic Boldness” will be the common thread of an event that, in line with its mission, will give space to the younger generations with “Magazzini aperti” (Open Warehouses), a project sponsored by the Lombardy Region, Milano Unica and Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda. In view of the 20th edition, the organizers expect an encore of the success of last September’s event, when more than 400 textile companies from 74 European countries gathered at Portello of Fieramilanocity. The fair was attended by 21,800 visitors, up 6.5% from the previous year.

In qualità di neo-presidente del Salone del Mobile, oltre che di FederlegnoArredo, ci può raccontare l’edizione 2015 e i cambiamenti più eclatanti della rassegna? Anche quest’anno il Salone del Mobile sarà in grado di stupire il mondo con la sua creatività. Novità importante dell’edizione 2015 è Workplace 3.0, l’innovativo progetto dedicato all’arredo-uffcio dove le aziende saranno sfdate a ripensare il loro modo di esporre, immaginando nuovi percorsi più focalizzati sul progetto degli spazi che sui singoli prodotti. Per l’occasione, l’architetto Michele De Lucchi realizzerà la mostra-evento “La Passeggiata”. Quali le interazioni e le sinergie con Expo 2015? Lavoriamo da tempo con Expo, soprattutto per creare occasioni di business per le nostre imprese. L’Esposizione Universale è una straordinaria vetrina che ci permetterà di comunicare al mondo l’eccellenza del design italiano e, al tempo stesso, del nostro modo di costruire in modo sostenibile. Un commento sui Saloni Worldwide Moscow che si sono tenuti a ottobre, per la prima volta insieme a MADE expo WorldWide e Homi Russia, e le prospettive di queste manifestazioni… MADE expo WorldWide ha registrato risultati positivi: non posso che dirmi soddisfatto di questa prima edizione, che ha rappresentato un importante momento di promozione per i prodotti italiani dedicati all’architettura d’interni, in un mercato sempre più attratto dalla qualità del fatto in Italia. Come stanno andando le esportazioni di arredo e design verso la Russia? La fase è delicata, ma il made in Italy è molto apprezzato dai russi. La Russia vale un miliardo di euro, il 10% delle esportazioni. Per noi è un mercato assolutamente strategico. Mi auguro che, come il premier

In 2015, the Salone del Mobile will again amaze the world with its creativity. An important new feature of the 2015 edition is Workplace 3.0, an innovative project dedicated to offce furniture. The challenge for exhibitors will be to rethink their way of displaying their offering, devising new paths more focused on the design of the spaces than on the individual products. al tempo stesso, la fame di design italiano che c’è in Cina. Non ci limiteremo a questo Paese: stiamo valutando opportunità in altre aree del mondo. Quali sono i mercati più promettenti per le nostre produzioni? Oltre alla Cina, che nei primi otto mesi del 2014 ha segnato una crescita del 31%, gli Stati Uniti ci stanno dando ottimi riscontri, così come il Medio Oriente. Una rotta promettente in prospettiva è l’Africa subsahariana, dove abbiamo creato la prima rete di imprese del nostro settore.

Your comment on I Saloni Worldwide Moscow held in October, for the frst time together with MADE expo WorldWide and Homi Russia, and the outlook of these shows… MADE expo WorldWide recorded positive results. I can only be satisfed with this frst edition: it has been a great opportunity to promote Italian interior decoration products in a market increasingly attracted to the quality of all things made in Italy. What kind of trend are you seeing in exports of furniture and design to Russia? This is a challenging time, but Russians do love Made in Italy. Russia is worth one million euro, 10% of exports. For us it is an absolutely strategic market. I hope that, like our Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, the rest of the government will also accept the challenge of a new and more constructive way to resolve the economic crisis. FAIRS 2015
Are you planning to launch new trade fair events worldwide? For late 2016 we are planning an Italian furniture show in Shanghai, as part of a multi-year project aimed at supporting Italian wood furniture manufacturers entering the Chinese market. In the frst half of 2014, the export share of Italian furniture has exceeded that of Germany, and this demonstrates the high level of competitiveness, and also the hunger for Italian design that exists in China. But China is not our only objective: we are considering opportunities in other areas of the world. What are the most promising markets for our productions? Apart from China, which recorded growth of 31 percent in the frst eight months of 2014, we are seeing excellent results in the United States and in the Middle East. Looking forward, a promising region is Sub-Saharan Africa, where we have created the frst network of businesses operating in our sector.
