Meet EFR

With over 7.000 members, EFR is one of the most active and most professional study associations of Europe. From academic events to recruitment occasions and social gathering; we bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Each year, we organise various activities and events for students of Erasmus School of Economics, as well as other students of the Erasmus University. Among other things, we offer the cheapest books, provide study support and organise social events to help students feel at home in Rotterdam. We also help prepare you for the labour market, bring you in touch with your future employer and enhance your student experience.

All events of EFR are organised by committee members. You can now apply for one of our committees, so you can organise one of our events yourself!

Develop yourself

Develop your skills

As a committee member you will get a lot of responsibility to organize your project or event, and learn the many skills that come with it. Think about the goal and plan the content of the event, set up a budget, think about how you’re going to raise funds, plan the logistics of the day and how you’re going to market your event: these are just a few of the hard skills that you’ll master.

You will also learn how to handle stress, provide effective feedback and make decisions around tight schedules; these are important skills that are not easily picked up during lectures.

Furthermore, social development is an important part of your committee member experience. Therefore, we organise structured feedback sessions and we bring committees in contact

with their predecessors so they can learn from their experience.

You are not alone in doing your tasks. The EFR Board is there to support you when needed. Every committee has one supervisor from the EFR Board, who will guide you through your year.

EFR Academy

EFR offers its committee members the EFR Academy, which provides several company trainings like CV/LinkedIn, personality and project management workshops from companies like Boer & Crooon and Deloitte. We also offer function specific workshops like treasurer, leadership, negotiation and marketing trainings. This way you can enhance the skills you learn within your committee and develop skills besides those.

Committee member activities

With your own committee you can have a (bi)weekly dinner or go out for drinks.

EFR also organizes many fun activities to meet committee members from other committees. The committee member weekend, the EFR committee member prom and the other fun activities that the High Five committee organises are there for you as a committee member only. All the committee members join, which means that you are partying with more than 150 students! You can also join the different trips that EFR organises, like the ski trip or the AC city trip. One thing is for sure; you are going to have a lot of fun as an EFR committee member!

Commercial committee

Workload - 3-5 hours per week

Commercial committee

Do you want to gain experience in approaching companies and closing deals? Are you a real salesperson and a go-getter? Then the commercial committee is perfect for you!

This committee is perfect if you want to get familiarized with acquisition since you will be responsible for selling promotional packages and generating new leads. You will be working closely together with the Commercial Officer and you will develop your communication skills and learn to work in a professional environment.

As you are responsible for company contact on behalf of EFR, you carry a large responsibility for the association. You are able to advise companies in their strategic decisions and you can expand your personal network.

Data consulting committee

Workload - 4-6 hours per week

Data consulting committee

Do you want to practice your data analysis skills with real world data? Are you familiar with Google Analytics, Facebook Business or other software? Do you want to help EFR to tailor our events to students’ needs? Then join the data consulting committee!

During this semester the committee will work on several projects which will expand the exposure of EFR. Based on your recommendations EFR will be able to optimise its marketing strategy and reach more students. You will act as a consultant for EFR.We are looking for ambitious 3rd year bachelor or master students who already have some affinity with data.

Eurekaweek committee

Workload - 6-8 hours per week

Eurekaweek committee

The Eurekaweek is the introduction week for all new first-year EUR students. This week is filled with activities, stunts and parties from all student associations in Rotterdam. For EFR this is this is the perfect opportunity to get new Erasmus School of Economics students in touch with EFR and everything EFR has to offer.

As a member of the Eurekaweek committee, you will be responsible for the promotion of EFR and all the activities that will be organized during this week. You will learn how to use a helicopter view to make sure every event runs smoothly. The program includes promotional stunts, organizing an

interesting faculty program, creating EFR gadgets and welcoming new students to EFR!

If you think you are the right person to promote EFR to all the new students and you can handle the pressure of organizing such a big event, then you should apply for the Eurekaweek committee!

Move committee

Workload - 3-5 hours per week

Move committee

Are you ready for an experience that will change your perspective on Rotterdam? Do you want to improve your project management and coaching skills, expand your network and work on your resume? Then you should sign up to participate in the move committee!

In the move committee you will organize a social project with primary school children from an underprivileged neighborhood in Rotterdam. Together you will brainstorm and organize something positive for the neighborhood in which the children live. This could for example be a dinner show for the elderly or graffiti workshop. In addition, you will give the children a look into student life by, for example, visiting the university or a student house.

You will learn how you can motivate and activate people around you and gain experience in project management and leadership.

Sustainability committee

Workload - 6-8 hours per week

Sustainability committee

The Sustainability committee will organize this year’s EFR Sustainability Week in September. This week, many different events will be organized to let EUR students connect with opportunities in sustainability in business.

A few of last year’s events: - Panel with sustainability experts from Heineken, Vattenfall, Too Good To Go, and ASN Bank

- Company case with Too Good To Go - Sustainable beer tasting for students with alumni who work in sustainability.

For the next event, it is up to you and your committee to determine what events you want to organize during the Sustainability Week. This may be speaker events, recruitment-related events with sustainability departments of big companies, events with small sustainable start-ups, or something entirely different.
