“My sculptures use realistic elements to convey observations and comments I have on relationships between nature, man, and various cultural and social issues of our time. I love to use the more expressive human features such as hands and faces, as well as nature’s other creatures like birds and flowers. I enjoy the making process, figuring out each unique element that will work in concert to make a statement that is humorous, serious, contemplative or a bit even surprising. These are all made from scratch (flat metal sheets), formed with hammers and then fabricated in relation to each other. “

TATTI GÉDÉON gedeon@tatti.be

Order in Chaos

From Belgium, Tatti Gédéon experience as an artist began a long time ago, highlighted by a visit to an exhibition in New York, after which he began creating paintings, just to paint. Inspired by Abstract Expressionism he became able to interpret a voyeuristic approach, splashes of colors on the basis that corresponds to the vision of the surrounding space. Tatti’s technique resembles Pollock’s style, with the same execution, the canvas on the floor or an internal plane space, free from constraints. Tatti’s movements and liberating gestures become turbulent, and color flows become repetitive. The result is a casting of paint and other materials, a congestion of layers corresponding to contrasting moods. Tatti’s figures are a perfect distortion of reality, where the background, dark and sometimes lively, is confused with sharp lines, layer by layer, emotion, and reaction. “The Natural elements are awe-inspiring subjects, especially for artists. When observing these elements at different times of the day, one can see everchanging forms, shapes, and light that alter the mood of the subject. Paintings seem to transform themselves from these events and we are left with a completely different image altogether, leaving surprising and awesome results for our imaginations to ponder. Many ongoing themes are being explored in a variety of sizes from miniature surfaces to 8’x12’ portable screens with images painted on both sides.”
