talents of the artists The Important World Artists series was intended to present the work of noteworthy contemporary artists at the peak of their career. With this book especially, we think we have achieved this.Volume 5 of the series presents 94 artists - painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, installations, photography, digital art and more. “I started pursuing my interest in art at a very young age. Art is a poetic language that gives me a forum to express and capture my inner thoughts. My art is expressed in both two and three dimensions as I paint and sculpt. Throughout my life, I have seen many aspects of the human condition that have strengthened and sharpened my character. Through my art, I want to encourage others to have a greater appreciation for life and use their strengths for problem-solving. My goal is to inspire others to preserve the beauty in touch people emotionally and compassionately and to affect positive changes in the world.”

and lives in Hungary. “I have always been fascinated by forms and colors, but in the past I was not aware of the harmony in the background. Since 1989 my activities were focused on the fashion industry, new, unknown, so I gave up my business and left everything behind myself. This was the beginning of a rough path, as I was on a mission of spiritual development and search for reality. self-exploration with many changes. So I gave up searching and stopped. To my great surprise, it was at this point that everything I had been searching for up to that time revealed itself to me. In the harmony that connects colors and forms I recognized myself, and by now it has become clear to me that I only need to let reality manifest itself through me. I have been painting since then. In my life I have always strived for perfection, not realizing that manifestation true to the given moment and to the person cannot be anything else than perfect.”

ALISON BARROWS-YOUNG United States “I have come to believe that I require art. For me art is a compelling way of life, it promotes essential self-expression as well as interrelational and intercultural connection. It is for me the most powerful way to articulate my quandaries as well as my discoveries, passions, and dreams. Through the years my artist voice has gathered into an alliance with my preference to live in the wilderness, to preserve nature and to advocate for the earth. I am devoted to self-awareness, living peacefully within our biosphere and nurturing youthful persistence. I hold this path as a mother, grandmother and mentor for those who are borne to me through my body, my wanderings and upon the wind.”

“My name is Billy Chiechi and I have been a creator for as long as I can remember. Whether it was with paper and pencil or me. I grew up on a farm and I was always painting symbols, that I would just make up, on the walls of my dad’s barn. When I was 19 years old I was stationed in Yuma, Arizona in the Marine Corps and I enrolled myself in an art class at the local community college where I met a wonderful professor named Susan Morrison who taught me about art and all the great artists of the world and their work. That’s when I started painting. I see art in everything every day.”

“I create art because it’s an internal necessity and a way to communicate my worries for the world to the world and express my emotions. Between birth and death, we have the chance to leave something behind which will state our passing from this earth. My paintings express my psychosynthesis at the time of creation. It’s like I unlock my inner self to reveal all those emotions that occur at the present time. My canvas is the door that leads to another dimension, and my brush is the key to opening that door. I create paintings using oils on canvas with brushes or palette knives. I love strong colors and creating contrasts. My art is

Being an artist isn’t limited to the canvas, but embodies all aspects of my life. Whether it be my manner, style, or the current playlist I’m curating. They all speak to who I am and how I experience life. Ideal Body 2021 Digital (10 min) Video stills

Ideal Body: Being a plus-size woman in America has challenges surrounding how the body can be viewed as beautiful or not. This is caused by society, close friends or family, and sometimes ourselves. This draft video; stills shown above, explores the ideas behind ideal beauty and how it is skewed towards plus-size bodies. I have

Sculptamold on plus-size mannequin 5 ft x 31 in. x 15 in.

like myself represented. I found a plus-size mannequin, a form that is supposed to represent those shopping in a plus-size department but is still built with an ideal shape. Hourglass frame well rounded behind and breasts, but this isn’t the common body type. Using a sculpting material, I built my shape onto the form that is supposed to represent me, a drastic difference. The Venus sculptures, not pictured, are an ongoing project alongside the Ideal Body. They will display other body types that are wildly different from size to shape, but are rarely seen in our media or represented as they should be in our society.”

The Cliff of Moen II Linocut printed on paper 30 x 42 cm

Since adolescence, it has been necessary for me to express myself through art. Art is as necessary to me as being able to breathe. About 11 years ago I started showing my art to others. Even though I now show my art around the world, the primary purpose for me is still to produce the art, because through the art I can come to feel like a whole person who is allowed to use both the right and left hemispheres of the brain.”

Initially, fascinated by the creation of cartoon characters that of the moment, character, life and relationships as I progressed. Through a self-taught technique in my drawings, I’ve adopted a style of committing to a line and subsequently breathing life into it while systematically creating the pieces of a puzzle using basic tools (a pencil and paper). What starts out as hope and vision soon becomes a passage in life, creating passion and emotions of a particular moment. I want the viewer to have a sense of reality with a new understanding as well as become a part the stories behind each work. and critical practice with the application of details, light and texture so the viewer is simply reminded that beauty does not require color and can transport you to worlds both known and unknown.”

YOCHI SHREM Israel “In my work of recent years, I have been trying to create a dialogue between the world of technology and science and between craftwork, which is unique, irreproducible, and is connected to history, identity, and feminist works. In my large installations, I delve into the digital and biotechnological revolution that is changing our lives. My works illuminate concerns and fears of an unknown future and its effect on us, our memories, bodies, emotions, and interpersonal communications, as well as the climate, genetics, and our planet.

The installation “Almost Natural” discusses the way our brain is undergoing evolutionary changes, and our memory, much like other parts of the brain, degenerates over time. At the center of the installation, there was a large and colorful waterfall of hand-knitted shapes, and placed in Perspex boxes, were knitted pieces that had undergone a process of ‘degeneration’ and had gradually faded and lost their vitality.”
