SIRPA MIETTINEN Finnish artist and art educator, Institute and Lahti Institute of award-winning environmental and community artworks, wishing to offer ways of initiating communication between the environment, community and artists through her work. Characteristic to her paintings is an almost sculpture-like surface structure, volume, colours and sceneries, borrowed from Africa’s animal, insect and plant world. Miettinen has had 26 solo exhibitions and 25 group show participations mainly in Finland with many of her works belonging to private and public collections internationally.
