Rosa May Sampaio This project is an apartment located in a prime spot of Rio de Janeiro, Arpoador beach, between Ipanema and Copacabana. Designer in Profile: Jeffrey Douglas Position within company Principal Company Douglas Design Studio Website www.douglasdesignstudio.com Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc.) I am artistic at heart and have always drawn and painted. I am particular, and think in a very detailed fashion. I am interested in people and derive inspiration from them, so I believe the most unique ideas come from collaboration rather than isolation. This interest also makes me an effective listener and negotiator with architects, builders and tradespeople. I love helping my clients realize that a home that is uniquely their own and an expression of who they are. How would you describe your personal interior design style? I would describe my work as “classically modern”. I love to be inspired by clients’ collections and interests because it keeps me thinking of new ways to reinvent those words. Where does your design inspiration come from? Perhaps it is banal to say this, but I see inspiration everywhere. It is about looking at the world with an artist’s eye until you see into things, you feel them and become aware of their origins. Travelling is my favourite way to refresh. READ MORE...
